• Mini-sea: questions

  • Phyllis

Good day! Please welcome a new "sailor." This is my first time at the aquaforum, so I apologize if something is not right. It has already been five months since I started my mini-reef (30 liters). I have two questions for the forum members: 1. Is it worth keeping a DSB of 6 cm thickness in a 30-liter marine aquarium, or is it better to free up that space for fish? 2. I change the water once a week (5 liters). By the end of the week, a brown film forms on the surface of the water. What is the best way to solve this problem: should I install a skimmer, make a small sump, or increase the water changes? Thank you in advance for your answers.

better to free this space for fish angle the flow pumps upwards... so there won't be any stagnant film on the water surface... You can also attach a hanging filter (and fill the compartments with charcoal and anti-phosphate)...

Are you specifically recommending this one, the SunSun HBL-701 II?

Vanessa

yes, you can have that one too...

Install a powerful compressor and sprayer along the back wall.

Can you imagine WHAT will be happening on the surface? You are essentially suggesting that a person turn the ENTIRE aquarium into a foam separator!

You don't need to do anything; if the film bothers her, you can remove it with a piece of thick paper, although I don't do that. Changing 10-20% of the water per week is enough, and everything lives fine, just don't overload the aquarium with too many fish.

I have a very good idea, I kept a mini sea for several years. You can search for the topic on the forum, there are photos there.

Guys, thank you very much for the advice. I solved the problem differently: I hung a FZN-3 waterfall filter on the back wall of the aquarium. So far, it's working – no film.

If there is an external drive, you can attach an adapter.
