You can leave the light at T5, metal halide is better, but it heats the water more. You definitely need to make an overflow! No Fluvals or canister filters if you plan to use live rocks. The protein skimmer should be no less than TurboFlotor 1000 Multi. A sump is a given. For 192 liters, you will need to put 20-30 kg of live rocks, and it's better to use fine aragonite sand to create a DSB.

Rita

Thank you for responding. There are a few things I don't quite understand (I have no experience with the sea). What is overflow, where can I see it, where can I read about it? I looked at the battles on the forum - overflow is present, but...??? What is Samp? I probably have problems with terminology, but it will get better in the beginning. And turbo skimmer - 10000, it pumps 2500 liters per hour. Yes, it's hard to switch from freshwater to saltwater.

Worse than this salt is only the Chinese one. The TurboFlotor 1000 Multi is the minimum. An external Fluval 205 should not be used. You won't need a UV sterilizer. And what about the flow pumps? To give advice, you need to know what budget you are considering (for example, modestly or at a higher class). A siphon is essential (look for a corner overflow in any topic).

Jason

You can set up the sterilizer. For 190 liters, use 20 kg of live rock, but place it on tuff stone (it will also get colonized by bacteria later). Don't worry about aragonite - there will be enough stones, especially since DSB is quite unsafe. You should definitely use MHG - try to find a Silvania 150W at 20000K.

I wouldn't make such statements. The salt is good, there are many cans of this salt in Europe, Mark Haagi's example looks convincing.

Leonard

The overflow scheme is suitable for both saltwater and freshwater. It may be of interest to someone. There is no need to drill holes in the bottom and create wells.

Heather9815

Well, I wouldn't say that. Here's an example: and the aquarium of his son Tapio. At Haagi: The light comes from two ATI Powermodul 8 x 39w T5. These lamps have been used for nearly half a year now. There are 8 ATI Blue plus tubes and 8 Arcadia fine White tubes. At Tapio: Four 18w normal output fluorescent tubes are used. Two of the tubes are blue (Arcadia fine Blue and Osram 67) and two are daylight (Arcadia fine White and Hagen PowerGlo) tubes. But why, Pavel, Silvania? And why 20000 K, not 10K or 15? And not Aquamedic, let's say. But why a sterilizer???? To eliminate all the plankton?

Jeffrey2277

The MG was very dissatisfied with Silvania.

Aqua Medic is a cool lamp, but the price is also quite high. I have a Sylvania 10K - I have no complaints. I've seen how a Sylvania 20K shines - the difference is noticeable, the water is bluish, and there's no need to install actinics. The person is planning to keep anemones and clownfish, but not corals, so why not install a sterilizer? I spoke with a guy from Israel; he has a reef. But he still has a sterilizer in his system. It doesn't run 24/7, but it turns on for about 6 hours a day.

Yolanda

So why does he need m.galid then??? Fish and anemones don't care what light it is. And it's easier to model dawn-sunset-moon with tubes. As for the sterilizer - personally, I am against it for the reason mentioned above.

Patricia

I agree... The aquarium is just more beautiful under MG.

Lauren

Yes, but not by itself, rather in combination with actinics (T5 or T8).

The TurboFlotora 1000 multi is currently out of stock (waiting time is 3 weeks). There is a 1000 without multi, which still has a compartment for balls and is more powerful (sort of). The space for the sump at the bottom of the aquarium is 50x40, and what about its height?

Jessica5348

Well, regarding the turbo flotor, I've already answered that; a multi is better in your case. Calculate the height based on the height of the return pump and the volume of water that will drain when the pump stops. It's about 1-2 cm. It's better to use an Eheim return pump; they are the most reliable and relatively quiet pumps.

James8887

I have an Atman Chinese pump with a capacity of 2000 liters per hour. It's a PH series with a ceramic shaft. It's been a year. In the bedroom. It doesn't matter if it's Eheim or Atman - you need to put something under them to make them quieter. I found a solution - plastic packing straps with air bubbles (tablets) inside. And it's great...
