60 liters? Maybe 600? Equipment at reasonable prices is only Chinese.

Brian7092

Everything is correct. A lot of money is needed at once for 600, but gradually replacing the homemade equipment will also allow me to practice with a small volume. Basically, at the initial stage, I would like a UV sterilizer; everything else has a replacement. And of course, a hydrometer, I couldn't find one even in Kharkiv :-(

Robert5335

The most important thing in the reef is the foam separator. Without it, the water quality will be low. A sterilizer is not very necessary in the reef; in 60 liters, it is not needed at all. It is required in the quarantine tank. Such a volume will work with live rocks and a Chinese pump. You definitely won't find a replacement for live rocks. You can add a mini skimmer from Aquamedic. My company sometimes has Aquamedic; I don't know about shipping.

Ryan7682

I will make the penootdelitel myself. As for live stones, I plan to buy a few kilograms. The sterilizer is useful by itself; I still have a freshwater aquarium, as well as various separators, quarantine tanks, and so on. And what is a miniflotor?

Zachary

There is a jpg. with a homemade foam separator.

Jacqueline5976

Load about 7 kilograms of live rocks into your aquarium; they are essential. It’s interesting to see a homemade protein skimmer. If you have a photo or a drawing, I would appreciate it.

Courtney4094

Soon there will be a photo, I'll let you know right away.

Amy1672

In a 60-liter tank, place about 6-7 kg of quality "live rocks" and ensure strong water circulation - this will be the basis for the biofiltration of your aquarium. I have two marine tanks with soft corals of 30 and 70 liters that thrive well without a protein skimmer. The water parameters are normal.

Sarah7284

And what kind of corals do you have? I'm just starting the colonization phase and would like to hear the opinions of different people so as not to make the same mistakes.

Mariah

To avoid stepping on someone else's rake, it's better not to start with corals. If you already have properly quarantined "live rocks," let them soak while you focus on the water chemistry. The sea is primarily about love, patience, and money. The more patience you have, the less money goes down the drain.

Lori4746

I completely agree with him. Plus, increase the volume, and if you take the sea seriously, then China is not suitable - the plastic alloy is not right. AquaMedic - yes, but the price...

Brent5588

What equipment for marine aquariums are you interested in? I will be receiving Agva Medic sea salt in 20kg packages, reef salt, and fish salt in the next week or two, as well as turbo skimmers. I can provide any equipment from this company at reasonable prices.

Randy

What does it mean at reasonable prices?

Robert800

I don't understand what's wrong with Chinese pumps? I have only ATMAN in my aquarium and it works fine, I don't see any problems; there are colonies of disco anemones, LPS corals, carpet anemones, a sea urchin, and 2 butterfly fish. The only important point is that the pumps should have a ceramic shaft. To Stanislavsky: please send me the price list if possible.

Rodney7316

To VIRUS: personally from me - may God grant that ATMAN works and works for a long time (honestly, without exaggeration). But as the experience of foreign friends shows..., time will tell.

Wanda666

A huge request - please share the news!!! With details, if possible.

Leslie

Thank you! For the quick response and the good story. To continue with further inquiries, I need to process what I have! Thanks again!

Amanda

Sizes, please... If I suspect correctly, your lid is 50x30? Did you make it yourself? I want to make a similar lid, but I just don't know where to get polystyrene (for some reason, there isn't any at "Champion" and it never is, I also didn't find any mention of it at "StroyPrice"), and I need information about lamps/fixtures...

Martin3206

Not a very reliable material. Although... Is there glass between the lamps and the water? Your aquarium isn't sometimes 50x30x34?

Martin3206

Not a very reliable material. I also have a regular 200-liter aquarium. It has a glass lid as well. Is there glass between the lamps and the water? Of course. Safety precautions. I definitely don't want the lamps to fall into the aquarium while I'm doing something in it :-) . I don't remember the dimensions, it seems something similar.

Susan9583

I think it could be made of acrylic... I'm more concerned about the splashes from the fish.

Alyssa1438

Guys, just make the lid out of foamed PVC (for example, Vekaplan). White (there are other colors, but they are expensive), can be cut with any tool (including a hobby knife), allows for assembly with screws, can be glued using acrylic technology (i.e., with monomer and is therefore compatible with polystyrene), can be welded, has good thermal and chemical resistance, and is three times lighter than acrylic...

Jessica9188

It can be made from regular plywood, but it needs to be coated with yacht varnish, and then covered with decorative self-adhesive film in any color (varnish and film are readily available at hardware stores).

Javier5186

60 liters of water is a headache; this system will be poorly stable - if you overfeed the fish once, you can ruin the entire system at once.

Courtney4094

There is a whole section on Reefcentral dedicated to nano reefs, aquariums from 20 to 100 liters. At Sergei's company, I saw a 70-liter aquarium with an anemone and some fish. At home, there is a 30-liter aquarium (I haven't seen it myself, but photos have appeared on this forum), so it's not that bad.

Larry9400

I have nothing against marine tanks up to 100 liters; if someone can manage it, let them keep it, although successful maintenance is highly questionable - I mean long-term sustainability, absence of fish mortality, normal water quality, breeding of invertebrates, etc. Not to mention that due to the small size, you are significantly limited in your choice of pets.

Daniel4967

One day, someone came to me with a tiny aquarium of about 20 liters. "Make me," he said, "a small marine aquarium for an exhibition." We added coral sand, planted a small clownfish, an anemone, a sprig of caulerpa, and decorated it with two pieces of coral reef (without any animals) - it survived the exhibition and stood for another three months. That's how my journey into marine aquaristics began. So it's not about the size; it's about the desire.

Melissa

Creating a reef aquarium with such volumes is IMPOSSIBLE; read some literature on this topic, you should start with marine aquariums.

Michele9664

Why is it impossible, what kind of pessimism is this and unfounded remarks? I said a) speak and b) - that is - justify your answer, dear... otherwise, so far it's just empty phrases? I also want a sea of 60-80 liters, and after reading everything written here, should I just give up and go drown? And the information is - it's just a rare exception, I guess?

Robert

Dear Sirs. I may not have expressed myself very clearly; it is possible to create a 60-80 liter capacity, but is it advisable? And of course, when it comes to the name "reef," I think we should approach it with caution given such volumes.

Robert5335

Oh, is it possible to use the epithet "reef" at 5 tons? If so, what is the difference? In my opinion, "feasibility" is an extremely subjective concept.

Mitchell7972

Guys, don't go to extremes. The more practical you approach the matter, the better. Reef keeping, as one of the directions in marine aquaristics, requires a more serious approach (water quality, lighting, etc.).

Susan

Ryuha, I have Deikin on the CD. Do you need anything else? 2 Fedor Well, let them demand. If they demand, then it needs to be provided. What's the problem? Moreover, in a small aquarium, it's not difficult to ensure regular water changes in volumes comparable to freshwater. For example, for a 50-liter aquarium, changing 10% of the water per week will cost between 5 and 10. What's the issue? And changing water remains the best way to maintain high water quality, no matter what they say. A great example of this is discus fish. Despite all the filters, the flow hasn't died; on the contrary, it's thriving. By the way, out of curiosity, what kind of aquarium do you have?

Matthew

In a reef aquarium, water is not replaced; instead, distilled water is added to replace the evaporated water.

James1625

To my namesake - YES, I still want Deikin's book, it's not just you who keeps a marine aquarium... maybe someday we'll surprise Jeorgicka with something, although that's probably impossible :-) Let's settle the amphiprion in fresh water.

Michelle9986

A lot of fuss without reason. Everyone should follow their own path, and everyone is right. If there is a result, then you have won. Which of you cool guys can sell 30 Amphiprion ocellaris, please respond; I am interested in a wide variety of peaceful reef fish.

Robert1845

Is this your personal experience? If yes, who lives with you (fish, corals), if no, whose is it?
