WOW!! WELL DONE!!!! The canister is filled – 3 containers of porous ceramic Rezu, 1 container of foam with synthetic padding. In the future, the foam is planned to be removed and replaced with ceramic as well. One note - remove the ceramic and foam!!! - "nitrate factory" Coal and only coal. See the topic on

Melinda2740

Throw away the canister filter and the sand, it's better to use that money to add a bit more and buy a refrigerator. In summer, temperatures of 32-33 degrees are guaranteed, and that will turn the aquarium into a dead zone. As I understand it, there is only one pump, and you need about 3-4 more for proper circulation.

David953

Where is the Living Stone?

Jacqueline6670

What are you planning to keep there?

Noah1632

Why can't we organize a canister with coal??? What are the risks? Where is the drain? (make it in the center near the back wall) QUESTION: why is the drain in the CENTER???? How can you design the aquarium after such a drain? Maybe a siphon overflow in the left corner would be better? I would appreciate photos with a proper design specifically featuring a central drain in the aquarium.

Lee425

This threatens that one will have to work with coal. The barrel is 22 liters and it can hold about 10-15 kg, and it needs to be changed every month. Coal also acts as a nitrate factory, as any bacteria can easily settle on it. On the AquaLog forum, there is an aquarium with a well in the center, an aquarium that can be viewed from all sides, and the well is surrounded on all sides by live rocks, which looked fine.

Colin1418

But you can't change all the coal at once! You have to take it out little by little and add fresh coal. Although I'm not using coal for now. The aquarium is 4 months old. I have 3 fish, 2 corals, and an anemone in 500 liters. I realized that the aquarium with a central drain is a Weaver's Ray. He has already remodeled everything. Unfortunately, I also have a central drain (see Photo Gallery, Kyiv). I didn't do it, unfortunately. It would take a lot of effort to cover those stupid pipes with stones. For example, it won't be possible to create a lagoon anymore. The design is heavily limited - there's a pile of stones in the center.

Aaron580

Have you ever been to the office? To the left of the entrance, there is a sizable jar filled with mountains of stone, but... almost all of the stone is limestone. It's overgrown (with corals and coraline). And there are about 10 kilograms of real live stone in that jar. I personally showed and told about it. Everything is just great.

Michelle13

Of course, pure live rock is much better, that is undeniable. But there are also quite successful systems with shell rock.

Destiny

In principle, you could have skipped adding the molly fish. LIVE rocks are much better. In a couple of days, so many useful things will emerge from them... At this stage, it's better to use pre-cured rocks until the aquarium is stable. After about three months (after three bacterial blooms), you can add more. Although there is an opinion that it's better to add all the rocks at once. During bacterial blooms, it's advisable not to siphon the substrate - everything will resolve itself. Although it will be a nightmare. The sea is a different philosophy, and the freshwater approach should be forgotten. Regarding tests: you also need a calcium test.

Tammy2040

There are no stones yet, so at least the mollies will eat the algae, and then they do a good job of it. We'll leave them until the aquarium matures.

Sarah7284

Mollies also eat the surface film if they are not overfed, which will be very beneficial without overflow. Best regards.

Jeffrey

We are not going to feed the mollies; they will find food themselves. And there is no film - the attachment for collecting from the surface came with the canister, everything is clean.

Corey3201

Well, that's all clear for now - we'll see when the stones come.

Stuart

I have a couple of adult moths that, for some reason, didn't thrive in the empty aquarium - I added them in the evening (drip method) and in the morning one was upside down, while the other started "dancing" in the evening (I oversalted in freshwater - it's still swimming). Maybe I need to add juveniles. A couple of days later, I threw in live rocks. And a week later (I couldn't wait any longer), I added clownfish - all are alive and well (they just keep asking for food :-)). By the way, a bloom of brown algae has started... but I'll talk about all that later...

Cassandra1840

We planted from 1.5 cm to 6 cm. All are alive, only one 2-cm one got pulled into the film collector.

Deborah2682

Everything is wrong. You started making the aquarium completely the wrong way. If I were you, I would first get some good literature (not forums).

Ryan

What is wrong? The public will gladly accept your wishes and recommendations. Share your experience with us. And what literature do you recommend? Deikina?

Sydney

Better to see once than to hear a hundred times. Best regards.

Jeffrey6189

Gentlemen, the public demands, photos in the studio.

James5032

Hello! Please share your impressions of the NASA variable flow device. I am very interested in whether the device makes sounds, and of course, how much this wonder costs and where it can be purchased. I have dreamed of having one for a long time, but I have never seen it for sale. Best regards.

Kristen1161

It operates silently; there may be a slight hum, but the aquarium is in the store, the Atman 2-ton heads hum a bit, and the foam filter is generally inaudible. You can also ask him; he has 2 units as well. Ours is priced at 59.00. Thank you for the FLO; it's right under your nose, and you don't even know it.

Cheryl9296

So we have them on 2-ton trucks, and the 1100s are like that too. But the 1100s will probably be a bit weak, the nozzles really dampen the flow.

Chris

I think a handful of actinies is too much; they grow quite large. And then they fight among themselves and especially with other animals, quite fiercely. They can burn corals. According to the law of meanness, they tend to crawl behind the rocks at the back of the aquarium.

Rachael

I missed something about NASA - where, what, and how much??? Any info is interesting!!!

Randall7906

Oh, Pavlik, Pavlik - read and read - missed the most important thing - attachments -

Christopher7213

I apologize for being off-topic, but can you buy these here?

Helen

There are none like that now, there is the Atman - wave maker, it costs 38.00.

Shelby3182

We remove the upper fitting and attach the rest to the pump outlet; the set includes 3 adapters of different diameters. The upper accessory will likely be useful for the overall layout. Don't forget that any attachments reduce the flow by almost half.

Thomas

Yeah, the smallest adapter is 15mm - that's probably for 2000l/h, no less. And the sizes are not small, judging by the bulkiness. In general, it's a specific design...

Michelle9986

Yes, the photo is almost to scale, but at 2000 l/h it's not very interesting - the outlet nozzle is small, and you don't need that much.

Rebecca1419

Does the nozzle only swing in the horizontal plane?

Danielle

Only in horizontal, it probably won't suit you - it's too large for 26 liters. The head, the attachment - all of this will probably take about 15 cm, maybe more - it will hit the opposite side.

Sarah

This is for sure.

Andrea6761

I had a caulerpa that almost destroyed the entire aquarium - it turned completely white overnight (and it had really grown a lot), the urchin and the starfish couldn't handle its secretions, and the hermit crab hid in the rocks for two weeks recovering.

Julia

This plant needs to be thinned out from time to time by removing old leaves and leaving the young ones, as during vigorous growth and with a large mass, it can multiply and potentially harm the aquarium, especially since it absorbs a lot of toxic substances from the aquarium's activities. I check it visually and thin it out where it is growing densely.

Loretta5483

It seems we are not at risk - the zebrasoma are happily nibbling on it, and it appears to have become active and is growing. The zebrasoma have chewed the upper parts of the leaves, and from there, two new leaves are already growing. In general, zebrasoma are rare gluttons; two of them, along with a tiny hapatus, eat a whole lettuce leaf in a day, never miss a feeding, and are constantly nibbling on something on the rocks. However, they seem to dislike the brown filamentous algae, but they really love the red algae. It has grown quite well, about four times in a month, and these fellows have already eaten a third of it, even with heavy feeding.

Reginald5073

Is the white balance on your camera set to automatic? It seemed that way looking at the photos. It's better to set it to the "daylight" preset or "cloudy" if the blueness doesn't go away. Even better, calibrate it once using a white sheet, placing it directly in the water.

Barbara8192

All the photos are taken on automatic, too lazy to bother. Additionally, the Minolta doesn't have the Russian language, and the passport is with the scummy sellers. Some of the photos are from "Two Comrades," "Helmon," and "Butterfly," taken on Sony in "Sport" mode with flash - they turned out more yellow. The Minolta seems to reproduce colors normally, at least on the monitor and in real life, it doesn't seem to differ. In general, I still need to practice with the camera...

Richard

Fish should be shot in manual mode, the automatic settings "do not understand" the aquarium (sport, beach, portrait, etc.). Turn on macro mode, switch to RAW (if available), then you won't have to struggle with white balance. Open the aperture to F2.8-3.5, use a shutter speed no longer than 1/50, otherwise it will be blurred, and increase the ISO if the camera allows for much higher values. The faster the object moves, the shorter the shutter speed you should set.

Brian

1/2 OFF It turns out that the Atman attachment reduces the flow by AT LEAST five times and makes a loud cracking noise. I installed it on a pump with a capacity of 1100 l/h, and at a distance of about 15 cm, the flow is hardly felt. No adapter fit any of my Atman pumps, and I have seven of them with different capacities.

Judy

How to attach discoactinia to a rock? Glue doesn't help, it comes off.

Nicole2404

try a fine nylon mesh

Christopher3770

What is that snail in the last photo?

Angela6489

This is the so-called "cone," a gift from the hospitable Egyptians, and here’s another one. I'll check the name at home.

Mark

In general, as far as I know, the cone has no spikes on the sides. Just like a cone. And these are similar to the ones I bought for 8 currency units a few days ago. But no one mentioned the names when purchasing. They call it "Snail."

Travis572

The mushrooms are gorgeous!!!!

Debbie3587

I have a title; I bought a couple of books about the fauna of the Red Sea in Egypt, in Russian, and they are available there.

Troy8808

Trochus (Trochus dentatus) - Trochus maculatus - there were also 2 pieces, but they didn't make it.

Jason9385

Let's go into more detail from this point... I have no experience in "cutting" corals. But the sinularia has grown to enormous sizes, with two branches. Did you "trim" it down to the base (more precisely, 3-4 cm)? And then... In general, can you describe the entire process from A to Z with all the nuances?

Karen81

Such beauties can theoretically (and practically) be officially exported from Egypt, and I will modestly refrain from mentioning the import to our country. We don't have laws like those on the Red Sea, but Babel is not only a writer, but also... an equivalent of mutual understanding and circumvention of laws. There is too much talk about the prohibition of exporting any marine underwater life from this region... It's somehow easier with Asia...

Ross

There was no experience either, it grew and appeared. You don't need to cut the two branches - the mother plant almost died, but the shoots started to grow. You cut one branch and fight with it until it takes root, while the mother plant can continue to grow.

Joshua9340

The glue doesn't help, I even found a stone with a hole, coated it with glue and inserted it into the hole, it came off later.

John3335

What glue was used to stick it?

Joseph2576

I am a cyanopanon. It holds until the animal starts to swell. So I also take a clamp. With this method, I have already acclimatized about 5 different creatures, all except for the mushrooms. I will try the net method in the near future!!

Raven7170

buy coral glue, and it will hold

Darrell5975

Aqua Medic Reef Construct?

Rachel

I know another good method. Mix cement, pour it into a mold, and stick young Sinularia branches into the mold. Wait for the cement to set while periodically spraying the Sinularia with water, then place the mold in the aquarium under the light, and it will grow.

Amy

Cement is a bit too much. I think Riff Construct is only good for hard corals like Euphyllia. It won't hold Sinularia.

Kimberly2102

The last method is very good, but it's better to start by doing this in a separate aquarium with water and a pump.

Matthew7977

molds for freezing ice

Jeffrey

Cement has a very strong silicate emission.

Chelsea

Is there any means for removing silicates? Like Antifos? And how much silicate is acceptable in a marine tank?

Danielle8118

I know about silicates; last year I tried to plant a 4 cm branch of Alciniums in cement, and it adapted well and is living in the aquarium with other animals. There is actually 1 cubic centimeter of cement there.

Scott8536

Question! What kind of glue is this? Is the coral cut "bathed" in glucose? Where to apply the glue on the cut or not... Can we do without glue? Why should the cut be made in one motion?

Breanna9982

I wrote - cyanopan. 30 kopecks in almost any kiosk. I didn't soak it in anything. Just cut it and that's it. Apply the glue wherever you want. I applied it to the cut. In one motion - to avoid fraying the edges.
