I have 50 liters, is that enough for a micro?

Laura7633

Americans typically consider nano to be up to 20 gallons. So there is room for growth.

Sara4035

Hello, Is the 20 liters the "net volume of water" or "according to the dimensions of the aquarium"? There is no foam separation in the profile, only carbon. What corals do you have? What additives do you use in the water, or is the effect only from replacing 30%? How is the lamp positioned relative to the corals? Thank you.

Yvette209

Is 110 liters considered nano?

Julie3950

In my humble opinion, anything less than 100 liters is "Nano."

Jeffrey6189

There used to be a 65-liter one, where a couple of clown Frenatus lived on the plerogir.

Nicole2404

What about your 65-liter tank now? I plan to have a 15-liter micro tank and a 300-liter + 100-liter sump (mixed reef).

Tonya

These 65 moved to 110, but it will actually be 200 with instant light reef aquarium.

Matthew

with a sample.

Good day! I've been wanting to set up a marine aquarium for a long time. But I don't know the minimum amount of equipment and supplies needed. Could you please advise me... And also! Where can I get plants and live creatures in Kyiv? The aquarium calculations show 28 liters of pure water.

Brent7831

You will need a pump with a capacity of 600 liters per hour (I have two pumps of 300 and 150 liters in 20 liters). Salt is sold in aquarium stores. You can skip the tests for ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates, BUT! don't do that = that's how boldly I started. Just when the live rocks (LR) have been in the aquarium for about a month and a half in working mode, you only need to measure KH and pH. You will also need 3-4 kilos of aragonite or coral sand and 3-4 kg of live rocks. I like Indonesia. The light color temperature should be at least 6400K. (If there are only fish, then the light is not important.)

Jeffery

LCD - living stones?

Brandy

Yes, a couple of stones per kilo 3, and that’s enough. But what will you keep there?

Catherine6534

I don't know... I'm a novice when it comes to the sea! Maybe you could suggest something simpler? And what are "live rocks"? How do you set up an aquarium? How do you prepare the water?

Barbara

It's better to read some literature first.

Andrea

Where can I get it? Maybe it's available in electronic format?

Melissa1838

There is a book by Deikin called "Marine Aquarium" available on the internet; it is a bit outdated, but it will do for a start.

Anna9752

Can I have a link? Or which website should I look for?

Reginald5073

Look for it on any website, or use a search engine. If you need a paperback, you can buy the book on Petrovka. There is a book called "Reef Aquarium" available in an online store, it's a very good and informative book.

Ross

Victoria, is Ksenia pulsating or normal? How does she feel in such a volume?

Tonya

She's fine. She feels normal :-). Sleeps at night, blooms during the day. I got her as a gift from the store—there were a couple of stems that fell off from a large colony, and the sellers wouldn't have sold them to anyone anyway. The condition was so-so... so they just gave them away "for planting" )))

Marie5735

Good evening! We are going for "compression." Today I started a micro-sea with 1.5 gallons (5 liters). Everything is going according to the established plan: the substrate is fine coral gravel, 1-2 cm. The Resun pump is 200 liters (the regulator is set to half power). The light is an 11-watt energy-saving bulb at 6700K. In the aquarium, there is a test disk for ammonium. I plan to have Actinodiscus spp. super red in the aquarium, along with a couple of different species of shrimp. Possibly something small from corals as well.

Richard

Victoria, how are your results with the 5-liter sea? Are there any results? 20 liters looks quite nice. But how does the 5 liters look?

Joseph1346

Of course, you can.

Cassandra1840

Is 65 liters nano for you?

Joshua9340

How to properly photograph an aquarium? I've tried several times, and it turns out to be some nonsense! Please advise if anyone knows!

Brent8919

what. and what exactly is nonsense? by the way, a discussion about cameras and photography methods has started here as well. if you’re not too lazy, take a look and join in:

Ryan1989

My 30-liter aquarium was set up in January 2005. It has 4 kg of live rock and coral sand at the bottom. The inhabitants include zoanthids, red caulerpa, a boxer shrimp, an ocellaris clownfish, a yellow wrasse, and another fish with a long name. There are no special nuances in maintenance. I change 20% of the water each month. I use osmosis water and REEF CRYSTALS salt. During water changes, I add JBL DENITROL (live beneficial bacteria). Sometimes I test for ammonia and nitrites. The result is always 0. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Heather9815

The nonsense is that the color reproduction is NOT at all true to reality! I've tried many times, it doesn't work...

Jeremy8404

Honestly, is it possible to maintain a problem-free 5-10-20-60 liter aquarium without too much hassle? I've had everything fine in 50 liters for six months. 5 kg of rocks, two ocellaris clownfish, a black urchin, cleaner shrimp, and a boxer crab. Disc and carpet anemones. A 2213 filter with original rings and JBL MicroMec, and a Duo 100 with a heater. Salt and water chemistry - all Serov's products. A month ago, phosphates started to rise. I'm only managing with JBL FosEx, which I add to the main container of the Duo and change regularly. What should I do?

Jacqueline5976

Live rocks (5-6 kg) will be enough. For this volume, a foam separator is not needed. My aquarium is illuminated by a POWER GLO 14W lamp. For larger volumes, there are HAGEN MARINE GLO, JBL MARIN BLUE (blue actinic lamp), and JBL MARIN DAY lamps available. The main thing is not to rush with stocking! Ammonia and nitrites should not be detectable at all!

Kenneth2761

How did phosphates affect the life of the reef?

Julia

As soon as it rose above 0.25-0.3, the glasses started to get covered... The hedgehog is certainly eating, but it's not coping... I don't know what to do.

Keith7534

You can try feeding the fish less. This could be one of the reasons. Do the rocks and substrate also get covered? I should measure the phosphates myself... I wipe the glass about once every 3 weeks. Sometimes some gunk appears on the rocks, which is easy to remove.

Carrie1606

Those without metal parts. The instructions usually indicate where they can be used.

Erin

Please tell me where I can buy live rocks for an aquarium? In Sevastopol, you can get them at the "Sevastopol Marine Aquarium," but it's a bit sketchy. No one seems to live there for long. The collection is constantly changing.

Luis3725

In Kyiv, you can buy from a (Obolon, Tymoshenko St. 13A).

Heather9815

Thank you, I thought he only dealt with goods.

Amy5468

Not only that. You can also buy sea fish there.

John

You can purchase fish and invertebrates from us.

Katie4842

If not in the estuaries, at least drop the coordinates.

Amanda

My coordinates are on the forum, in the Red Sea section. Live rocks, fish, invertebrates - tropical, and if you're interested in estuarine species, I think the diversity in Crimea will be broader.

Danielle9144

I am troubled by the question of how oxygen saturation will be in a mini Nemo with a tightly fitting lid and without a foam filter. Should I install a diffuser? Please advise. Thank you.

Kristen1161

Interesting topic...! In Russia, there seem to be more sea enthusiasts, even comparing the sea to freshwater. I've also heard from experts that keeping marine fish is not more difficult than keeping a good freshwater tank... I don't know if that's true or not..?

Aaron580

In my aquarium, the pumps mix the water, and during the mixing, the water becomes oxygenated.

Danielle9144

Have you measured the pH? I've had it for a year and a half in an open aquarium. If it worries you that much, install a compressor with an aerator.

Brandy

Good day, everyone! I want nano. No matter what, I'm determined. They all discourage me, scaring me with the complexity and financial costs along with time expenses. But I want nano. The beauty lies in overcoming challenges, that's what I think. Could you suggest what would be suitable for an aquarium with a clean volume of 77 liters? Height 45 cm, width 40 cm. And where can I find a catalog of living creatures with photos and descriptions of their care requirements, compatibility, etc.? Respectfully,

Joyce

Dig around here -

Brandon9634

People, can anyone help me with the price question, please! For a mini marine tank of 30 liters - what do I need besides the aquarium itself, and how much could all of this (including equipment and livestock) cost? I've been thinking about my freshwater 60-liter aquarium... maybe I should redo it...
