Reef Crystals
Kristin
Who is the manufacturer?
Why was the choice made specifically for her?

Instant O. Aquarium systems is an affordable and good salt.
Helen
I'm not sure about the low price. I called the company, and regarding IO, the girl said that the salt for a 240L FO aquarium costs more than 40 euros, and the one suitable for reefs is even more expensive. At the "Aquaristics Center" in Košice, there is Red Sea salt, which turns out to be cheaper, and there are good reviews about it on the AquaLogo forum. Overall, as I understand it, besides these two brands, we can only buy Sera.

Don't worry too much about the salt, the price is practically the same everywhere, if you find it cheaper, take it. By the way, they could have given you a discount without mentioning it, and everyone in the association gets decent discounts, so call again and clarify. The composition of salt doesn't differ much among different manufacturers, by the way, Riff Crystal salt.
Robin
I agree with the opinion about Red Sea, the price is great and the quality is excellent.

I generally tend to think that you can start with cheap salt, and then, depending on the inhabitants, switch to higher quality salt.
Tasha
"Red Sea" is not such an expensive salt, but "sulfur" is something better to use for treatment, although starting with "Aqua Medic" also works well.
Keith7534
Is "AquaMedic" a lousy salt?
Kellie
what is good for launching or for a fishmonger (I haven't kept a fishmonger on this salt)

I don't know what is sold in Kyiv, but for me, the best is Instant O. Of course, you can start an aquarium with any brand, even Sera, but that's not a great option. I have Red Sea as a backup, but I haven't tried it yet.

Not necessarily. It seems that discounts are only on JBL products. In any case, there are no benefits for marine life.

So we weren't really talking about animals, I think.
Cheryl
I believe that for a beginner, Reef Crystals is the best option. It's Instant O. with increased calcium and mineral content necessary for invertebrates. There's no need to worry about different additives.
Kristen2246
Reef Crystals is a good option for water changes if your animals actively consume minerals and calcium. If you are just starting out, Reef Crystals is an unnecessary expense. Regarding supplements, usually no one pays much attention; they do water changes of 2-5% per week (in a reef aquarium) and add limewater (for those who actively consume calcium, a calcium reactor is set up) - at the beginning, there is no need to complicate things with all of this.
