I don't know the principle of operation, but as far as I understand, this is a foam separator for marine aquariums; I've seen a similar one in a store. In strong currents in a marine aquarium, a lot of foam is formed, and it captures it.
Rachael
That's understandable. But why so cheap?
Nicole7268
for a small aquarium, they say don't believe it, but it seems to work quite well
Katie4842
What is there not to believe? This is still a fully equipped skimmer, but for a small aquarium? How small?
Jessica
liters to 50
Gregory
Do you need a flotation device in such a volume?
Daniel
I thought that the foam collector for organic matter serves...
In it, the foam is specially whipped, and an organic film is collected from the surface of the bubbles.
It is relevant only for marine aquariums.
Consult them about the volume, and the price is good, Chinese...

So I want a 60L sea. I called there, and the girl didn't say anything clear. She doesn't even know if it works with a pump or just from a compressor. Although the pump seems to be visible at the bottom. I didn't ask about the volume anymore.
Dana6523
Here is my 65-liter aquarium, there is no foam, just 2 pumps and that's it.
Anne
Sure...
Who lives there and for how long? What is the volume and frequency of water changes? What salt do you use? Do you have sponge pumps? How are the nitrates?
Sorry for the many questions.
Laura3615
According to the tests, I'm not measuring now, I measured at first, visual monitoring is currently satisfactory. The aquarium is about 2 months old (I set it up in 2 days).
Melissa3820
I see, thank you. Did you use water from an established aquarium?
Amber9312
But the pen is necessary here, you can't get around it. Of course, you can manage without it, but the price is not that high to save on it. This pen is a copy of RED_SI (prism), works with a pump, takes up little space, and is convenient.
Robert
This foam maker has a weak pump and it doesn't create foam very well. And why do you think a foam maker is so necessary here? The animals and fish in such an aquarium are quite undemanding, and you will still have to change the water more often than once a month.
As for the water, I used regular tap water; the only thing I did was add Denitrol from JBL, and I didn't observe any spikes in ammonia or nitrates.
Mary
Do you use osmosis water for the substitutes or also tap water?
Katie3017
I pour osmotic water for substitution.
Rebecca1419
tell me what parameters and how much water replacement in % per month
Larry9400
pH 8.0-8.2, nitrates 10, phosphates 0, ammonium 0, salinity 1.022. Water changes twice a month of 10 liters.
Amber1273
The unit costs 1109 (one thousand one hundred nine). They forgot to add a zero at the end. This was the case both on the website and in the price list. Additionally, I was also told over the phone that it costs $18. But when I went there today, it was such a letdown. Which Chinese one would you recommend?
Jeremy
The thing is that there is exactly the same production in China, and the price is high; it seems to be RED_CI if I'm not mistaken.
Susan9583
I have never encountered or heard of Chinese prisms, even though I have sifted through a lot of information. But this one, yes, Red Sea.
What do you think about the Red Sea Air Lift 60? Is it suitable for 100-150 liters? Does it only work with an aerator?
Catherine6534
There is an Air Lift 90, it's more powerful.
William5838
So they only work from the compressor? If so, it turns out that the more powerful the compressor, the more efficient the skimmer. Or does the performance also depend on the volume of the flotation column?
What should the compressor's performance be?
By the way, you can buy the same Resun, just five times cheaper.
Kyle
The effectiveness lies in the duration of the bubble's stay in the foam column. My advice is that a foam generator is good only with a pump; the Chinese have options. If the foam generator will be in the sump, take the maximum height that fits (taller). I recently bought one for 200 with a pump, the height is about 80 cm, it works for a 200-liter aquarium, and I'm satisfied.
Zoe7451
Chinese production is in Odessa (Prisma).
Andrew9246
According to the latest data, this is not the case: "...there is scientific evidence...- the ability of an air bubble to collect dirt on the surface saturates within 0.7 seconds, while the "lifespan" of the bubble in almost any skimmer is significantly longer..."
Is it possible to purchase it? I would buy it. How much does it cost?
Courtney4094
In general, this is called a protein skimmer, which works on a molecular level. For freshwater aquariums, it is absolutely useless, but for marine aquariums, it is irreplaceable. The model, however, is completely unfamiliar to me. By the way, it helps very well to saturate the water with oxygen.
Alec9378
In the photo, there is a Red Sea prism for 100 liters; it is still effective, although the manufacturer claims it is for up to 400 liters, which is not true—this has been verified! If you want to use it for 200-250 liters, you need to make slight modifications and changes to the design.
Joshua
It's a pity, but I'm not a ufologist. Seriously though, I don't know, but it looks interesting.
