Today I discovered a young hermit crab in my tank. I have had several Black Sea natives since August. This one found a shell about 3-4mm somewhere in the substrate and today was proudly sitting in a fake coral. I suspect there was an attempt at reproduction, but what interests me more is how it managed to survive in my community tank. Ideally, a dozen scavengers looking for food leave little chance for survival.

I may be mistaken, but a significant part of the diet of hermits consists of algal growths.

In my opinion, they eat everything.

Then we need to clarify the question... what is included in the common pool? Aggressive winged fish or mollies? That is, was the question about the food or about the fact that it should have been eaten a long time ago?

I'm saying that he wasn't caught by either the dazilli or the pomacentries, and so on.
