Yeah. I fished him out of an empty quarantine tank for about 10 minutes, and now there's a riff. Maybe it's easier to just accept it?

Kristin

I can't accept it. I have to exchange him for a clown while the offer is still on the table...

What if we try using a plastic bottle with the bottom cut off as a trap?

Julie

I was told that once they had to catch some fish with a fishing rod. You can take this on board ;-)

Yes, this is the message I was referring to. The most I will be cutting the bottle. Has anyone made such traps out of acrylic?

I had to catch not only Discus but also false chromis, clownfish, and tangs. I tried everything and settled on fishing line and hooks. You take a small hook, file down the barb so that it’s just a hook, and fish with shrimp or whatever you have. It’s not easy either. When you catch one, take small pliers and bite off a piece of the hook from the side where the line is tied, and pull it out from the bitten side to avoid further injury, and the wound will heal quickly.

I stopped at a large net that you lower into the aquarium for a couple of days and feed the fish as usual; over time they get used to it - and then you catch them. The same goes for the trap - everything is detailed with examples and photos - I have nothing to add. Hooks and line are not for me - it's inhumane and increases stress for the fish.
