Good afternoon. I grew Tetraselmis that I got from a friend and decided to take a look under the microscope. There are a lot of some filamentous algae and a little bit of Tetraselmis. Apparently, the original culture is contaminated. Questions: 1. What is it contaminated with, what is this "garbage" called? 2. How did it get into the culture, from open air? 3. How can contamination be prevented in the future? Should we filter the air supplied to the solution through filters and grow in closed containers? Thank you to everyone who read this message.

If anyone is interested, the photo shows genetically modified Synechococcus, which has displaced Tetraselmis, a great food for Artemia, but due to the size of the rotifer, it won't work. It didn't make it into the culture; it was already in it.
