Welcome to marine aquaristics! Auto top-off, auto cooling, doser, tests (depending on which ones), heater. Hold on to the CO2, it may be needed when adding calcium.

Kristen1161

I use the simplest tests from the Ptero company, in general, I look at almost all equipment from the herbalist that can be suitable for the sea, but I just can't understand what an automatic fertilizer dispenser might be needed for. Maybe you thought of some other dispenser, but I have one like this.

Kayla7655

You may want to add balling (a supplement of calcium, soda, and magnesium), but that's in the future.

People, please tell me what the difference is between a flotor and a foam separator or skimmer. To be honest, my head is spinning from this theory; I read an article where a person writes blah blah blah about the flotor, and I look at the picture and see the same foam separator or skimmer. What's the catch?

Antonio

a flocculator, a skimmer, and a foam separator are the same thing...

Elizabeth6302

I thought the same in the trailer, it's just that in some online stores they sell pens with all these names, and it misleads beginner enthusiasts.

Stefanie9771

People, can you advise on this LED light set, is it complete garbage or is it okay?

Courtney4094

There is a thread here about lamps from AliExpress, take a look.

Angela6489

I can't comment on the set, but it's not worth buying anything from this seller at all; they have no rating.

Steven757

I know about AliExpress, I often shop there, I'm just doing this for clarity so that an experienced person can take a look and suggest what to do, thank you.

Kevin3579

Good day everyone, I have a question regarding which overflow to prefer: Durso, Hofer, or Stockman. Which one is more efficient, which one is quieter, and which one is more commonly used by our marine aquarium enthusiasts? Thank you.

Collin

In the photo, there are aquariums with a rear technical compartment (SUMP). Why do you need a Durso, Hofer, or Stockman overflow? Will you have an aquarium in the cabinet where all the equipment will be hidden?

Amy5070

After long discussions and conversations with experienced sailors, I will most likely be making a marine aquarium 100x50x50 with a sump in the cabinet, which is why I am interested. P.S. Another important fact is that it is currently very difficult to find a factory-made marine aquarium that I like (Red Sea Max, Boyu HS-60A, Aqua Medic CUBICUS) in online stores. They are out of stock, and ordering from abroad makes no sense or reason.

Lori4746

People, please advise what are the most optimal sizes for holes in glass for a Durso overflow, it's very important, thank you.

Scott8536

depending on which passes will be installed. Usually 28 for 20 pipe, 35 for 25.

Reginald5073

Please tell me what the device highlighted in red in the photo is called scientifically; I really need to know its design and see the blueprint. I apologize to Maxim for using his photo, thank you.

Cheyenne2747

So maybe ask the author? It looks like a jammer. PS I skimmed through the topic, Dursu is noisy.

Tammy2040

I don't know what it's called! I found photos on the internet. You can put a piece of pipe, cut a section at the bottom, or drill holes for water to flow out.

Amy9618

The most interesting thing I read about this device was on the RIF central, where the situation was discussed that a person in SAMP had a lot of bubbles with the water flow, and they recommended this device to him. The most important thing is that they called it something, but I forgot to copy the address and now I can't find it. What's frustrating is that I stumbled upon the discussion of this problem while browsing the internet. I read that the Durso is noisy, but many also say that after tuning it, it's practically inaudible.

Monica

That's absolutely right, the durso is adjustable. There will definitely be water noise in the pipes, but I'm not sure it's absent with other overflows. Regarding the holes for the fittings, it's better to buy those fittings first and measure the threads.

Brandon9634

I took out the jammer, it interferes with covering the SAM. I took a photo as requested.

Jacqueline5976

The maximum has nothing inside, just a pipe and at the end, there are slots like in the photo; everything genius is simple.

Jason

I visited all the nearby stores selling plastic pipes, but there are no such fittings even close. Maxim gave me a link where I can buy them, but the price there is quite high. I thought they could be easily found in retail, but it didn't work out. I'll check Epicenter; maybe they have them. If anyone knows where else I can buy them, please share the address. Thank you.

Jeffrey496

Exactly! Just a pipe. You don't need to go to the epicenter—there are no passages to the container there. It's cheaper here.

Craig7302

Maxim, thank you so much for the link. I will definitely contact the person today, and if they have the sizes I need, I will definitely place an order. Their prices are indeed much cheaper. Now I have another question about how to drill the aquarium without any consequences. It's quite daunting. I will go to a glass workshop, and we'll see what they say. If not, I will have to do it myself.

Daniel

This seller also has glass crowns for his passes. There's nothing to drill, just a screwdriver, water, a guide, and 10 minutes of time for the hole. We practiced on a piece of glass, and if it goes well, we can start on the aquarium.

Debra

I just want to take the project from the Riff Central as a basis; everything is very detailed and illustrated there, and it fits my aquarium. However, this seller seems to have slightly different sizes. I asked him if I could order the size I need through him and I'm waiting for a response. I don't really want to overpay 300 UAH for a piece or 80 UAH difference. I'm curious where else they are used besides aquaristics.

Barbara

Good day everyone, I am planning to drill the bottom of my aquarium soon, but I can't come to a consensus on what is better, I mean where to place the overflow column, in the middle or on the left. The project suggests the middle, but maybe there is some unofficial theory that says the drain should be on the side. Please clarify for a beginner, thank you.

Gregory9432

There is no concept of right or wrong here. Naturally, you want to close the shaft with stones, and the design is already based on that. If I had a rectangular aquarium, I would definitely make it in the center and create a beautiful hill around the central shaft.

James3382

Originally, a person with a central reef designed an aquarium and placed the shaft in the middle (I want to bring this project to life), and positioned the flow pumps on the drain shaft. I imagined this picture and can't understand how the pumps will work if I make a slope around the shaft. I understand that the mounting of the pumps on the shaft is not critical, but I'm still curious.

Kenneth7331

At the reef center, there are smart guys, but I personally don't understand the flow organization in the aquarium. There will be "bald spots" on the sand in the corners, and the rocks, especially behind them, will create stagnant zones. Let more experienced marine aquarium enthusiasts correct me, but it seems to me that in such an aquarium, pumps should be mounted on the side walls and directed towards opposite corners of the tank.
