You are a sadist, "my dear" - the girls have been systematically ruining the aquarium for several months, knowing (at least suspecting!!!!) what the reason might be...
Denise
I read your investigative story, and to say that I am shocked is an understatement... My friends in China and Thailand use this salt specifically for SPS. Maybe the salt that reaches us is of inferior quality? It's just TERRIBLE to lose a beautiful aquarium, it's...
Kimberly2102
Two and a half months on this salt - so far everything is good, the Xenia are growing well, all the mushrooms have doubled in size, the clowns are alive and healthy, the sark is normal, and the sinularia is too. The only thing is that for some reason the palythoas have started to turn white - I suspect it's the light. However, I have nothing to compare it to, what we have is what we have.
Vanessa6144
I wrote that my clownfish died?! No, they survived. My Entacmaea quadricolor and Heteractis crispa have also increased and are feeling fine. BUT, I lost a lot of fish, LPS (large-polyp stony corals) and SPS.
Brooke3987
I've been using it since spring this year - everything is fine! The mandarin fish feels great! All the mollusks too. The brittle stars are multiplying like crazy. The gray politia is thriving like mad.
Jessica6754
I will answer you as well. There are enough brittle stars, and is that a sign?! There are also gray polyps, but I don't consider them a rarity or valuable soft corals. As for the LEDs, which I think you used to create super light, everything will grow for you with the salinity and water quality of the Azov Sea.
Jeffrey
So maybe it's not about the salt after all?!)))))
Dana6523
Let's not spam.
Russell8484
What do the tests show?
Kenneth7210
Alright, let's approach it from the tail side. What kind of filtration system is there? Maybe the cow did its business right in that barn?
Jose
You understand that the aquarium was poisoned with some kind of toxin over the course of a week; believe me, it's not salt, otherwise many would have the same issue. Now, where to dig for information about the aquarium is needed.
John3432
Faust, there's no need to look for a black cat in a dark room, especially when it's not there. What filtration, what analyses, what lunar day, etc. are already unnecessary. I know my system well, almost for four years, and I've never experienced mass die-offs or devastation in my aquarium. The topic was created to demonstrate what can happen when switching to a different salt and the consequences. If forum members had left feedback saying things like my corals have bleached, my fish have died, or anything along those lines, then this product would have raised concerns, and this topic and everything that happened would not exist.
Kayla7655
Are we really to blame, following your words?
After all, SPS corals are dying and the livestock is suffering even with reputable salt. Is it really that difficult to conduct tests in the aquarium and check the osmosis? Or is there another goal?
I am also considering salt from Dnipro, but for now, I have a stock and I maintain a mini tank with TM salt and a 500-liter tank with Tetra, and there are losses in both cases.
It's not fair to categorically blame the salt.
Debra8438
Today I will be substituting this salt, let's see.
Jacqueline5976
I think we need to look for metals, although it's unlikely that the fish died from copper or other substances within three days, but invertebrates could easily be affected. It's possible that some equipment is "leaking," maybe the pump casing is cracked, or the wiring insulation is damaged. I won't defend the salt; I haven't tried it, but with a one-time replacement of 7-8% of the total volume, it's very unlikely that such a large number of animals would die, whereas the fish could have perished from ammonia.
Tricia7885
Regarding isolation, that is out of the question, as at the slightest sting of the wound in the water, I find the source and seal the suspected areas of damage with silicone or buy new ones. As for the ammonia spike, that is also excluded, as I have been using a bag of zeolite in the filter since last year.
Katie4842
Ksenias and polyps will thrive even if you sprinkle table salt from the grocery store. My friend was in such a hurry to salt an unprepared 850-liter aquarium that he salted a 250-liter sump in the yard, under the sun, rain, without any flow. There was a water change when I drained water from my tank. Naturally, there was no skimmer. It all sat for about three months, and the ksenias pulsed. The protozoanthus and polyps also survived. So, 2.5 months with this salt and ksenias is not an experience.
Emily3506
Well, it's not about the experience. I didn't say that. You didn't directly throw poison into the aquarium, and I didn't say that either. But it ended up there, I hope you noticed. I don't know how, maybe it's a reaction of two salts. I started with dry reef rocks, and now there's just a sea of life in the rocks. There are tons of amphipods and all sorts of little bugs. Out of three brittle stars, there are legs sticking out of every crevice. I can see that life in the aquarium is thriving; it can't be like this with such bad salt. Yes, I have an aquarium with simple soft corals, and yes, the salt is budget, but it's definitely not poison.
Spencer7805
I just wanted to say that even such an aquarium (simple) would be fine if it were about salt.
William5838
I apologize. You started on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) and life is bustling, you say? What life? A bunch of gammarus? Then come to Mariupol and take a look at the water from the pier. There’s a lot of gammarus, and the water looks like gasoline. Remember the saying: what is good for a Russian is death for a German. Corals are not gammarus, especially montiporas and acroporas.
James4342
In 3-4 days, 6 fish died in a person's aquarium! This is either a reaction between two incompatible salts or something else. I'm not an advocate for this salt—it's just that simple organisms thrive and reproduce in it in its pure form. I think many have done water changes, and I would like to hear their opinions as well. I also started to worry about using this salt, but so far I haven't observed such problems in my own aquarium.
Heather6148
I just can't explain it any other way.
Aaron580
Isn't the author using an external canister filter for filtration? And are there any power outages?
John3432
Here is the manufacturer's website for this salt. You can state everything you described on the site and submit it as a complaint. I think they will respond.
Charles
If you started using this salt initially, you will need to continue using it all the time, as the aquatic life in the aquarium will get used to this salt, and then suddenly switching to a different one can confuse them, leading to their death.
John828
Do not attack the person, as he is not claiming anything but sharing his bitter experience, warning us to be cautious with new brands, and one can assume anything. Forewarned is forearmed!
P.S. Off-topic: Have you ever thought about adopting the experience of successfully or brilliantly maintaining a marine aquarium? There are no problems with salt and water there, especially without chemicals and additives, and everything thrives, it's hard to take your eyes off it.
Maria
I propose that we exchange salt between us; I have about 5-7 kg left. I will make a photo report on how my aquarium reacts to the different salt, and you will do your own photo report accordingly. ONLY everything will be honest. If I do not see any improvements, meaning my inverted system is confirmed, I will apologize to the entire forum and the seller from Dnipro. And please express yourselves appropriately, without specifying positions and verbs.
John828
Colleagues, the only experiment that can determine the guilt or innocence of this salt is the result of a LABORATORY study. We can write to the Chinese, accuse them that after using this salt the aquarium collapsed for n-thousands of dollars, I think they will react.
Erin
This should be initiated by the seller, and when I approached him about all this, he told me that everything was fine.
Breanna9982
What is the price difference between it and Tropic or Tetra?
Michelle1662
Yes. This is a normal, productive conversation. I have sent the details.
Michelle9986
Offtopic I read your posts and look at your aquarium, is that you by any chance?
Jennifer7159
, +100!
Jeffrey
Very interesting topic!
Rachael
So is it worth bothering with the salt then? To send or not to send...
Martin3206
Of course there is, if you have agreed, then call and send it.
Chad231
The author, please pick up the salt at the Nova Poshta branch (the one you specified). It arrived for you on the 28th... The tracking number was sent to you via SMS.
Kimberly
I called him, he picked up the salt today, said that tomorrow he will send you his salt and will call. I'm curious what kind of salt he has.
Joe
I hope you will test the salt in a separate container, because someone has blown things out of proportion, and now, to still be right... well, you understand, right? Something might get sprinkled in there. The world is like that now. Just kidding!
From my side: I have been using Blue Treasure LPS (large-polyped corals) for over six months, and I have had no problems.
Stefanie9771
The problem is that there is still no response salt... I plan to experimentally use this salt on Monday. Well, I will use the salt purchased from the representative of this brand in advance.
Natasha7622
She won't be there! It's a type of people who shift their problems onto others, blaming everyone and saying that everyone is wrong.
James8887
I am closing the topic, as there will be a divination on the grounds. I will reopen it after determining the parties regarding the quality of the salt, or upon request in private messages from those interested in this topic.
Mitchell7972
I made a 10% substitution with this salt... a week has passed, and I haven't noticed any negative changes. On the contrary, everything has become very fluffy. The salt dissolved well and had no chemical smell; in HW salt, there was a slight chemical smell.
Sandra7004
I have already made four substitutions with this salt, everything is fine.
Leonard
I will write my review too! I used salt for SPS corals in a 100L tank, replacing 5 liters at first. The SPS corals stopped opening normally, and after a week, the neon Seriatopora started to decline. A week later, I replaced 10 liters, and the Montipora digitata began to die off in places. The Milka started to turn white after three weeks. Although the LPS corals are doing fine, and the soft corals are okay too. There is practically no smell, and it dissolves quickly, which are the advantages, along with the price, of course. Overall, I wouldn't risk using it for SPS corals.
Joseph
9 months on this salt, as there is no possibility to buy another. Corals are growing and even changing color.
Laurie3842
Please, the topic is about a specific type of salt and the results of its application.
Earl
I started with Aquarium Systems reef crystals and took this Chinese salt for water changes (but I haven't done any changes yet, nothing is growing yet). So how did this experiment end? Is it worth using this salt or not?
Cynthia6578
Then I'll save the Chinese salt for a rainy day, I'll buy Aquarium Systems, which I started with; the aquarium isn't big, so I can use regular salt.
Sharon
It seems that the quality among the Chinese varies from time to time.
Ricky9405
After using this salt for five months, I concluded that the salt is garbage, everything is falling apart. The question is, what is the largest substitution I can make at once with another salt to avoid causing more harm?
John3432
I completely agree, I have already heard this from nine users, and three of them almost lost their aquariums, while one no longer has his. Don't tempt the fate of your aquariums. It's better to do 10% once a week, which will amount to 40% a month. Or do 20% in one water change at most, otherwise, you'll have to restart. Good luck.
Andrew419
I have been doing up to 100% water changes for almost 2 months in my 5-liter pico. I haven't noticed any problems or poor health in the corals. However, I am using LPS, not SPS. It might still be too early for problems to appear. But there is even some growth. I don't know, I will keep observing))) although I plan to switch to a higher quality salt, as I don't like the poor solubility of this salt; even after a day with the pump, there is still white residue on the bottom.
Mario
For four months, everything was fine, and then it went off the rails.
Tanya
I already described above in three words - what, where, and from what is leaving. And there are a couple of other issues in the composition and hidden pitfalls. It was correctly said above - you won't make a big one, and that means you won't be able to restore everything quickly. On one of the tanks where I tried this salt (home aquarium), I gave up and completely restarted it with 50% old water. It's been almost 2 months, and there are still some problems showing up. But it's almost good now.
Jill9137
It has been 3 months since the launch on this salt, and I took a second bag, using it for LPS at 3.3 kg. In the aquarium, there are Ksyukha and Zoanthus with Thor, everything is alive and growing a little. It was started completely on dry rock, with a portion of live water.
Jennifer5784
I read the entire topic and decided to write my thoughts. After using this salt (SPS), almost all SPS corals are left only in photographs (Seriatopora, Montipora, Pocillopora), LPS (struggled), soft corals, and the fish are alive.
Nicholas2252
I killed two aquariums with this salt over the course of 2014-2015. I switched to Tropic Marin and Reef Crystals - the aquariums started to thrive. One can conclude from general reviews that the composition varied significantly from batch to batch. It's not a fact that this salt is bad now, but the experiment, which cost about $4000, did not end in favor of this salt. Use only time-tested brands, and even then there can be issues...
Stacey4437
If you change 4 times by 10%, it will result in a 34.5% replacement)) If this is important, of course.
