• Tell me - KN. Osmosis, sinularia...

Hello everyone, I need help because I don't understand something... Let's go in order: I bought several fish from a seller, and a pair of ocellaris and a wrasse disappeared within a couple of weeks—well, it happens... The sarcophyton has been closed for about five days and hasn't opened—today I took it out. I looked at it, there doesn't seem to be any smell, it feels firm... Yesterday I decided to fill up some water for the freshwater tank, disconnected the osmosis from the auto top-off, and checked the TDS—256!!! And this is after two resin cartridges, after osmosis it was 60, and I don't know how much of this dirt was flowing into the aquarium... but further tests showed pH-8, PO4-0, NO3-1(10)? NO2-0.1, Ca<500, KH-5!!! In general, it's clear that the resin started to release everything it had accumulated before, maybe I caught it in time, but why did calcium suddenly spike and KH drop... could this have affected the livestock? All other SPS and LPS seem to be doing well... In a few days, it will be six months since I salted the aquarium... during this time I haven't done a single water change—the aquarium is young and there aren't many inhabitants—should I do one? According to the tests, everything is normal except for KH, and the system is almost 600 liters—how much and how often should I change the water?

Raise the KH to 7 and the calcium will drop slightly. If there are no visual problems in the aquarium due to "dirty water," I wouldn't worry too much. The sark may molt for a while - that's normal!

I raised the KH a bit with baking soda, while the calcium dropped to 470, that's all, I'm not doing anything... the anemone is actually shedding, it's already trying to extend a dozen tentacles, so everything is good... regarding the water, there are patches of dinoflagellates in the sand and a couple of spots on the rocks - maybe this is the answer to the "gunk" from the resin... time heals, I will wait and observe... Today, there was a separation between the hermit crab and the anemone that stayed on the shell, it moved to another home - a big one, it's struggling to move it, what a burden it has taken on, you wouldn't envy it...
