• How critical is daylight?

  • Aaron580

Hello everyone. I have a question about how critical it is and what consequences may arise if the aquarium is exposed to sunlight?

Bonnie

The question is not precise. How much time, what aquarium, angle of lighting.

Tasha

The aquarium 1.6*0.65*0.7 reef will be exposed to sunlight from 12:30 to 17:30. The aquarium is planned to be in a store with display windows, and options with curtains and blinds are not suitable.

The walls will be green! Definitely! I had an aquarium by the window, and in 2 weeks the walls turned completely green. I moved everything, and it was fine...

And was it not possible to clean them?

Nicole

On the windowsill, there is a 20-liter aquarium, home only to guppies and coils. Direct hit from 13... to 18... There is not even a hint of a raid! Why?

Do you want to clean every other day?

Jason9952

If the problem is just with cleaning, I'm not worried! But could there be any other issues?

Brenda

Definitely in warm weather - the temperature, and the sun will hit during the most active time, will really warm up the water!!! A refrigerator will be needed.

Plant a lot of algae-eating snails there and install a UV lamp, but be careful with it. Also, use a powerful refrigerator. It might help.

Natalie

There is an air conditioner in the room.

William

Not only the glasses can turn green, but also the water itself. It's possible. It's better to shade it somehow. As it is, I get a bit of indirect sunlight at sunset, and the corals clearly like it.

Theos snails handle these overgrowths very well! Plant 1 snail per liter, and they will clean up for you...

I cover the sunny side with baking foil for the summer. Maybe as an option, I could use car tinting.

Mariah

I threw the aquarium on the window to keep the stones. In a month, the glass didn't grow anything, but the plants increased tenfold. Compare the photos.
