Regarding the KZ and ZEOvit systems, we will soon post descriptions and share our observations and experiences with their implementation. A meeting is planned where everyone can express their opinions and share their experiences using products from these companies and others as well.

Jose

Denis, thank you for the response. For various reasons, one might not be able to attend the meeting. I just think there are still some small secrets when it comes to launching. For example, how long after the launch can animals be planted? I don't want to make mistakes that can be avoided...

Rachel9060

In my opinion, one should not blindly believe that chemistry will do everything on its own; it only helps to perfect things when the initial conditions are good. As far as I remember, you have good live rocks and you plan to dry them out, which seems incorrect to me. Why kill them? You can simply keep them in a moist state, and then the unwanted organisms will mostly die off, but the live rocks will remain alive in the pores. That is the base, and then comes water treatment, salt, skimming, etc. With good quality live rocks, you can introduce livestock after just a couple of days, which has been tested many times.

Jacob7201

I will prepare the material and definitely post it; it just needs a little time... I can only say that not everything depends 100% on chemistry. The initial material (LCD, dry reef rocks, substrate, etc.) and water treatment (preliminary purification with osmosis + resins, salt) are very important. We won't discuss the equipment for now, although it also plays one of the main roles in starting and maintaining the aquarium. Someone beat me to the answer.

Kevin262

Well, yes, osmosis + resin. Salt is also marine fauna. There is a skimmer. There is also an algae eater and sulfur.

Jesse

I saw the photo in another thread, do you have a KR? The stones seemed very light to me without Carolina. A scrubber is a controversial thing, in my opinion, you can even breed a thread in the aquarium from it.

Angela6489

A small example: Last year, hydroids appeared on a rock. I took the rock, cleaned it thoroughly with a steel brush, washed it well under hot fresh water, and placed it on the balcony (the temperature was about 2 degrees). It sat there for about 6 hours, after which I threw it into the aquarium. A week later, everything started growing on it again. I had to use the oven...

Phillip9722

Hydroids are resilient, while worms, anemones, and aptasia disappear quite easily. However, hydroids are still not that commonly encountered.

Cheyenne2747

Karolina is just starting to grow on them, this is S.R.K. (dry reef rocks). The aquarium is just over a month old.

Sheila1322

There is no KR. I am using balling.

Michelle1662

This is all certainly there, as it is not the first launch. I am primarily interested in the correctness of the application.

Gary6376

Well, if it's a month, then of course, that's fine.

Jeffrey2277

Is there zeolite in the system?

Chris

No. I don't use it.

Carrie1606

Only Fauna supplements?

Andrew7823

Yes. Just supplements. I am not hiding anything. I told everything that there is.

Frank7213

The initial salt is very important; for the first brining, it sets the buffering and parameters that need to be maintained later.

Sharon

It's good that I started with the salt that I will continue to use. Here it is:

Lindsey3362

Good salt, as well as FM chemistry. It's better to always have it in stock, just in case a big substitution needs to be made, although if you don't mess up, it won't be necessary.

Andrea8397

Shouldn't the S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) be soaked in saltwater afterwards to encourage faster colonization by bacteria? After all, if they are soaked in osmosis, the rocks will take a long time to absorb saltwater in the aquarium?

Andrew7823

at least it makes sense. But I spaced out a bit. It was only later that I realized I could pour the water from the substitutions not into the toilet.

Cassandra7840

How much did the chemistry you used for the launch cost? And what is the planned monthly cost going forward? P.S. In my opinion, if you don't use the chemistry with what you've salted, the result will be the same (if not better).

Nicole263

I clean the net with sulfur without removing it or stopping the flow - nothing multiplies. My opinion on your statement about sulfur is based on the saying "whoever got scared - it's a curse" - nothing personal!

Jacqueline6670

Please don't suggest this to anyone else - I quote "I had to use the oven's services..."

Randall7906

Of course it will be better, what are we talking about? Thank you for the advice, but I once had an alternative aquarium, and I'm very glad I got rid of that "better."

Brian

We do not use chemicals during the startup, but....... most of the water for the startup is taken from active reefs, live rocks are kept for a while, and the coral is soaked (revived) in aquariums. Not everyone has such conditions... therefore, it makes sense to use some chemicals.

Matthew

That's why I asked about the money spent on chemicals during the startup and the planned expenses for the future. The point is that this money could have been added for purchasing the same water and good live rocks, which I believe would be better. In my opinion, discussions about chemicals are only possible after experiments with twin aquariums. I don't completely agree with the conditions - if there are no conditions to order and accept live rocks and live sand and live gravel, then how can we order corals in such a case?

Daniel9952

Please tell this story if it's not too much trouble. I'm curious about what happened and what changed.

Nicole263

Again, a conversation that leads nowhere... Did you read the topic title? If not, please do. The topic was created solely to discuss starting up with chemistry and how to use that chemistry, not to hear once again that we need to use live rocks and nothing more. I want to clarify - I know how to start an aquarium, and I have already grown my bucket of SPS. I have never used chemistry (except for balling, of course), and I want to try to see what it is. If you have something to say on the topic, you are welcome, but enough with the empty talk...

David

Did you install zeolite reactors for Fauna?

Gabrielle5053

Not many people here used chemistry, so there won't be many useful tips. Unless the Airifovites have something to say, and Max was obsessed with coral.

Alyssa1438

Have you ever used chemistry for starting up? Do you have experience maintaining an aquarium using chemistry? Have you seen a difference with and without the use of chemistry? If not, then your claims are useless and look foolish. The discussion was about soaking dry reef rocks in a working aquarium or stand... If someone is starting their first aquarium, I doubt they will have that opportunity. I think not in your case.

Eric8832

Maybe someone is lying in wait? )) The thing is, there is little information. And as far as I understand, the effect is fully achieved if the system is initially launched using different additives... And you need to be very careful when adding to an existing system...

Elizabeth

Denis, thank you. But in practice, do you use the one-to-one instruction or are there nuances?

Erin

I want to publish a general guide on this system, and then I will share my observations and developments. There are nuances.

Christopher1252

I also recommend starting with the chemistry from PRODIBIO. This startup is simpler and less costly compared to the previous one. After the equipment is installed and running, live rock is added and substrate is laid down, introduce the START UP product. Dosage: 6 ampoules for a 120-180 liter aquarium 12 ampoules for a 180-360 liter aquarium 30 ampoules for a 360-1000 liter aquarium The startup with both KZ and PRODIBIO has shown very good results.

Tiffany5069

Very often the question is asked about what to do and how to dose KZ chemicals after the 14th day. My recommendations: In the first month, refrain from adding feed supplements, as well as micro and macro elements... After the corals have been settled in sufficient quantity, adapted, and started active growth, you can begin to add the aforementioned products. But do this starting with half of the recommended dose. In the future, through experience, you can determine how much and what is needed specifically for your system (species composition, volume, number of invertebrates, etc.).

Jessica8898

The 14-day launch is not related to the zeolite method, as it does not use a zeolite reactor, did I understand correctly? Here, only the addition of chemicals is involved?

Joshua8425

Yes, that's correct. The 14-day launch is applied both with and without the ZEOvit® system.

Michelle1505

If you had read what I wrote, you would have surely followed the logical chain and seen that I had a working aquarium with saltwater nearby. I added 20 liters from it. As for the money for chemicals, I doubt that 332 for bacteria and food for them will be enough for a good live rock. And those jars will last for my volume for over 2 months of daily use. Moreover, it's unlikely that the live rock will be very happy after I drilled and glued them in the sun for three days. Further expenses will be 47 per month.

Jacqueline6670

My thoughts on the topic are - 1. The strain will be of higher quality if water from the established system is used. 2. The feed for these bacteria is already excessive in the system, especially during startup.

Nicholas

Let's communicate more politely.

Anthony7814

Who told you this?

Yvette209

Denis, I understand that they are not using either a balling or a calcium reactor? Only substitutions?

Larry9400

If it's not too much trouble, please explain in your own words and briefly.

Jeffrey6189

It all depends on the aquarium's contents. Clearly, if there are a large number of SPS corals in it, then you can't do without calcium reactor or balling method.

James5032

It turns out that if the system is not heavily loaded, it is quite sufficient to have substitutions... Is it worth installing a zeolite reactor? Or are bacteria and other reagents enough?

Antonio

What does the zeolite reactor have to do with the traces???

Michelle

Maybe I expressed myself incorrectly.. sorry. Is there a need to install a zeolite reactor? Or can it be done without it?

Brian7092

We put it in almost every new aquarium we set up.

David2398

I created a separate thread on the ZEOvit system.
