Jennifer
Could you at least explain what you mean by standard and what you mean by alternative?
Amber
I see no practical sense in this voting, which has no precedent. Given that a large number of marine aquarists have not conducted such "experiments," as it was expressed here, they cannot judge them. Therefore, they cannot vote either.
This resembles more of a trial, to later announce a verdict that would suit someone. But it is written in the Scriptures: Do not judge... lest you be judged...
Veronica
The topic was created 9 minutes ago, and you can't write everything at once. In light of the recent launches on the Black Sea stone and water, this topic is relevant, and in order not to flood the threads about the alternative system of launches.
Lindsey3628
I don't see much sense in voting either. But the topic itself is very interesting. It would be great to discuss different approaches to starting a marine aquarium (M.A.), who and how would start it now? This would especially help beginners, as people try to read the forum and learn, but in practice, they get confused and make a lot of mistakes. In the first post, I suggest adding point 3. Starting a marine aquarium without using live rocks (L.R.).
Tina
So what I'm saying is; the guy hasn't even properly started yet, there isn't a single fish in the display aquarium, and they're already trying to promote him to a higher position... this won't work, folks.
Jessica5348
This is correct.
Helen
It was launched in a standard way. Because there is a specific goal and it has long been known how to achieve it. You can't grow a beautiful sps on an alternative. But that doesn't mean there is no place for the alternative method. It all depends on the goal, but the alternative imposes certain limitations.
Eric8832
Exactly, about the goal, but has anyone specifically asked us about them, about the goals?
Julia
Let's not discuss the aquarium in this topic, as it is not its personal subject. We are here to talk about how to start and each person will choose their own path to follow.
Nicole
Launching a marine aquarium without using live rock. Does this mean with dry reef rocks?
Devon107
Let's leave this topic aside; there are two topics where everything can be said. Let him start as he wants, we'll see what he comes up with; it's his money and time... but reacting like that to the dialogue... is somewhat inappropriate...
Earl
On S.R.C. (dry reef stones), ceramics, plastic, concrete, etc. Has anyone among us used Aqua Roche ceramics, for example?
Adam4310
I have already expressed my opinion. Therefore, I am leaving this topic. I see no point in pouring from empty to empty. This is because the issues related to the use of the Black Sea have already been discussed multiple times on the forum. If someone enjoys such activities, let them practice. I wish them success.
Andrew9246
It doesn't matter when, as in a week the same "alternative system" will have a standard salinity of 1025, and living organisms will be added to it along with rocks from the Red Sea. And S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), Black Sea J.K. (live rocks) are only for reducing the cost of the system at the start and for scaping. I think the opposite is true, as when the salinity is raised, much from the Black Sea J.K. (live rocks) will perish.
Kristen2246
This is just a discussion of various systems, we won't step on anyone's sore spot, and you are incorrectly trying to avoid the topic, even though you are the only guru in the alternative system on this forum.
Justin9867
Yes, we already discussed it.
Diana8604
Guys, maybe it's time to stop bickering? Let's get back to the topic. You and Max are currently among the gurus on this forum; you participate in its work, and people turn to you for advice. So it would be better if you just wrote how you see the aquarium setup today.
P.S. It's been a while since we needed to create a section on setup.
Lindsay
In each of your responses, there is logic, but it is difficult to verify.
Michelle1505
Max, the voting is somewhat incorrect. There are no descriptions of the "alternatives," just aquariums that seem to have been launched in some way, but something was adjusted, something was replaced. In general, there is no description like the one that Yabo, who started doing it, provides. Voting for methods imagined by one's own fantasy seems somewhat inappropriate. For a long time, aquariums have been launched on cement at the reef center, and everything is alive and thriving. This means that under certain conditions, everything will grow in the Black Sea J.K. (live rocks) as well.
Rephrasing the survey responses: I would start with the cheapest of the working systems.
Erin
Here one can only guess. But I think the stones are not much different. And considering that even higher organisms (like dogs, etc.) transfer salt from Black Sea water to tropical water, bacteria, being more adaptable, will not disappear from the stones and will function at the same rhythm as before.
Heather6148
I am going to describe how to launch a standard system on this topic, and I ask Anatoly to do the same, and anyone who has launched on S.R.K. (dry reef stones) should also join in, and we will discuss it as a whole forum, and everyone can choose their own launch option. No attacks, calmly, each system has the right to exist.
Vincent
What kind of savings are we talking about? 500 currency units for live rocks? That's three corals and two fish... A skimmer for 300-500 currency units that will save the reef in tough times... Electricity 50 per month? At any moment, you can switch from soft corals to SPS. Without a skimmer, SPS in live rocks from the Black Sea will quickly perish. I think it's worth looking at the photos of our aquarists who have beautiful SPS reefs. And see what you personally prefer: alternatives or classic setup schemes?
Steven757
Yes, all three end up being standard even with a standard set of fish. As for what to start with (live rocks from the Red Sea, dry rock, live rocks from the Black Sea) with (foam, sulfur, AF) - that's up to each person's finances and what they prefer. Therefore, personally, I don't see the point in complicating three different descriptions of the same "output." Even in a Resun-500, you can fit 10 kg of rocks, which ranges from zero investment to 250 euros. It's scary to even talk about larger volumes. No, that's the price of one Achilles.
David2398
Until someone has tried it and described the result, I wouldn't be so categorical. I would like to draw attention again to the Ѕрѕрифы from the riffcentral, which live on artificial decorations!
Brooke
Absolutely not true. You need to be clever to achieve results! A year ago, I started with super fresh live rocks, and all sorts of things came out of the rocks... I'm tired of fighting all of this. Today, I'm draining the aquarium, drying the rocks and sand, and I will start with dry rock. I think it will take a bit longer to set up, but it will be much more reliable.
Rebecca1419
Yes, but only the launch phase is different; after that, everything goes as usual. Depending on what it is - palolo and ov won't be on the dry land, but iptazia and valonia are taking root as if they were in their native environment.
James1625
Oles, this is just my personal opinion... Go for it! I'm all for it. When you succeed, you can point me to my post and I'll apologize. Just make sure it's a rhyme, thanks, not a photo of digits or a series of topographies...
Kristen1161
Naturally, but trying to "let" it in there is much easier. Moreover, I’m fed up with all the macroalgae that I’ve been pulling out by the bucketful... And since this aquarium will be SPS and will only have "fresh" frags, the likelihood of introducing various pests decreases significantly... In any case, I will try, but I wouldn’t recommend beginners to start only with dry rock...
Kevin
It is easier to sell live rocks than to turn them into dry rocks and buy either dry rock or reef rock; I think the latter will be better for the SPS keeper, and you can see how the reef will look even at the purchasing stage. However, their price is not exactly "dry."
Alexander
I'm not against SРК and similar things, but to get started, you need to add something. For example, from KZ: you need to pour a horse dose of Zeobak, Zeostart3, or Sponge to kick things off. Or PRODIBIO Start UP. Waiting for your ecosystem to stabilize can take a long time, and we don't have that much time; everyone wants to at least start with fish in a month.
Anna9752
To be honest, I'm not sure that with such different inputs one can achieve the same excellent result, but a poor result can be obtained with any inputs, and even with any investments.
Daniel132
Max, we didn't gather here to point fingers at anyone. It's just that if people abroad grow things on whatever they can find, then how is our stone any worse? If your post had been something like "I wouldn't have any objections," I wouldn't mind, but such definitiveness suggests either some practice or knowledge that others are unaware of.
Wendy2244
A marine aquarium is a very expensive pleasure. And it won't be easy to make it cheaper.
Melinda
With your permission, I will start describing the standard system. Since we have users from other countries, I will provide the prices for equipment and chemicals approximately in currency units.
Jennifer
Max, or maybe it's better to discuss this in a separate thread, and here we can talk about all the pros and cons regarding other systems? Otherwise, if we start describing an alternative here, it will turn into a real mess.
Breanna9982
Is there any point in writing specific prices? Maybe it's better to just describe the configuration, as the price range is quite significant and depends on the brand, and perhaps someone can even manufacture some equipment elements themselves. In my understanding, it's important to highlight the main points, that is, what to pay attention to when building a system in this way.
In order to achieve excellent results.
Alexander
If it correctly describes and specifies the max and min prices for key positions without which the standard system cannot be launched, it will be informative. In my opinion, and based on experience, it will be 5-10 currency units per liter.
Stephen5841
I think it can be, and that this result will only differ in time, although...
Elizabeth
Translated to the first page.
Nicole2404
Max, don't you want to move the entire description to the first page of the topic? It would be more convenient and there wouldn't be any confusion.
Joyce
Do you think it's possible to start without chemicals in less than a month? I wouldn't risk the lives of the fish. With chemicals, it can be done in two weeks.
Martin3206
It is possible, if the live rocks are well-cured, the appropriate equipment is installed and functioning, to introduce SPS and LPS corals after just a couple of days, and fish can be added without any issues, except for the white-bellied ones and similar species. This was recently tested, but I still prefer more gradual setups. The circumstances there were such that they were started without bacteria and other starter kits.
Brian7092
There are, of course, such extreme launches. I had a similar experience, an urgent move, so I started on the fourth day. The fish survived, but half of the corals did not.
Jeremy
But in this case, no coral has died, and they are living and actively growing now, but I reiterate that I am still an advocate of more gradual launches. That is, I consider such launches to be abnormal.
Christopher4125
We are not discussing an SPS aquarium here; if you read my first post carefully, it mentions that much of the equipment is "optional." As for the costs of aquarium chemicals, they are negligible for any of us. You can see the calculations for the most expensive chemicals based on an 800L tank here: And if you calculate the PRODIBIO chemicals, they are twice as cheap. The issue is that some people are afraid of this dependence on chemicals not because of their cost, but because of the systematic dosing according to the dosage table. People here are just lazy.
Jonathon8514
I affirm that systematic addition of various chemicals is not necessary for the successful maintenance of any marine aquarium. HOWEVER, for me as an advocate of natural methods, live rock is essential, a protein skimmer is a must, and it is necessary to simply clean the aquarium, and everything will thrive.
Natalie
I personally really liked the launch with the help of the startup prodibio. Within two days, I transferred all the LPS, soft corals, and fish from the old tank to the new one. The entire move went smoothly. I spent 25 currency units on chemicals.
Lee
PRODIBIO is generally made for the lazy; just add it every two weeks and sleep peacefully. The main thing is that you know you have fed everyone. Reef Booster promotes the development of corals, giant clams, and microfauna, as well as reducing nitrates and phosphates by feeding and supporting anaerobic bacteria on live rocks. The product is a complete dietary supplement containing all the elements necessary for invertebrates that feed entirely or partially on microplankton, and for corals with zooxanthellae that require microplankton. The monthly cost for a 500-liter aquarium is only 12 currency units.
Angel628
the system should get used to different types of chemical inputs, starting with a small dose and gradually increasing it.
Amber
I voted for the standard. I believe that launching on an alternative is the same as performing eye surgery through the back (please forgive me). The system should be set up in such a way that it can later accommodate any types of corals, invertebrates, and successfully maintain them.
Emma
And from this point, could you please elaborate...))) Just kidding. (or the lurking Denis) It would be better if you told us what kind of chemistry to use during the launch...
Sarah7284
Are you sure that it is so essential for the launch, and that it cannot be done without it? After all, the seller will always find something to sell, especially if it's requested.
Leah
No, I'm not sure. And this seller can sell anything even if no one asks for it...)))))))) But I wouldn't mind knowing what chemicals to use where, and how to apply them correctly in general.
Heather
I think that the topic of chemistry in the launch of a marine aquarium (M.A.) is a separate section and is not related to the overall concept of the launch mentioned in the topic.
Teresa
Why? Read the first post, where Max clearly talks about the need for constant use of chemicals...
Melanie
Max also suggests correcting it if anyone has objections.
Spencer7805
I am not a seller. But I don't see any other product to launch that exists. I was planning to start with dry reef rock, especially since it will be SPS (small-polyped corals). To get it started, you need chemistry; otherwise, where would the various bacteria come from, or they will appear over time in some monoculture. That's why chemistry is needed to initiate biological filtration.
Craig7302
If you are "about to launch on CRK," then that's a separate topic, but in the first message, it was stated about launching on J.K. (live stones) and JP. In my experience, no starter culture is needed; starter cultures are necessary for empty stones, but I have no experience in reviving them.
Crystal
I use this product when setting up aquariums for clients, even when there are live rocks, just in case, because the client is always in a hurry, and the maturation process of the aquarium is not noticeable; there is hardly any cyanobacteria or diatoms.
Kimberly2102
Max, is it worth adding this to an active aquarium with live rock?
Todd
I don't argue, Prodibio works, I've checked it a long time ago, I remember showing the report on Logo as one of the first. In a running system, sometimes you can add Digest, and the water becomes crystal clear.
Charles894
No. For the ones already in use, there are others. Biodigest, Bioptim, Reef Booster, but I would recommend them for soft corals and LPS. For SPS (small-polyped corals), it's better to use KZ or FAUNA.
Natalie
And will this have to be added throughout the entire life of the aquarium? Aquarium junkie? I'm not a fan of chemicals, just curious.
Frederick
Well, that's how the topic should have been started, otherwise I don't understand the topic at all. It's all about the pros and cons of starting an aquarium using the standard process and an alternative one. Or is it a diversion and hidden advertising for chemicals for starting? Next, I have to understand it this way. The alternative means it's clear that it's live rock from the Black Sea and live sand, while the standard involves using chemicals like STOP AMMO STAR, Start up, Stop Ammo Start, and Biodigest Start? Cool... So, does that mean we can't do it without chemicals? I allow for partial use of chemicals in emergency cases, but I'm against such starts for personal reasons.
Erin
Guys! Have you tried not eating? It won't last long for you. You have mixed reefs, with both SPS (small-polyped corals) and LPS, as well as various types of filter feeders, and they need to be fed.
Yvette209
Honestly, I don't see much advertising. PRODIBIO Start Up is just a small fraction of the total cost of the marine system, but it allows for good results if other mandatory conditions are met. As for the Black Sea stones, it seems that only growing a thread will be successful, as they are dirty.
Bonnie
Can you tell me more about these reasons?
Yvette209
I don't know if they are dirty or not. The stones can probably still be used, but adding salt to the Black Sea water is just nonsense.
Michelle9986
And the stones that have been soaking in the same water for thousands of years, everything is accumulated in them.
Rodney7316
He didn't leave, but was observing and got confused in your chemistry. What is the topic then? What are we here to talk about? I already hinted at this at the beginning. Furthermore, I feed my soft rhyme to others, trying to share something "alternative," and I don't have time to distribute and sell, and I still need to add more chemistry, why? Look at my albums and point me to the thread. I won't write in more detail here, especially since I've already written about it when the ampoule was submitted for analysis. Everyone remained with their own views, only the defenders of chemistry and the opponents clashed until bans were issued. Therefore, there is no point in reviving the argument. So what is the topic about?
James
If possible, please provide more details, either in private or just a link. As for the "alternative" feeding, I'm really curious about it. Don't get involved in these emotions, especially since, in my opinion, you're right about 70 percent. But if we add Max's 30 to your 70, it would be just great. However, we still need to distinguish between pure SPS and mixed reefs.
Melissa3820
Push me to your SPS specialists; as far as I remember, you are an advocate of softness, and their content differs somewhat from the content of SPS or even LPS.
Laura9093
Yes, I know this story myself. They sent it for analysis, and it turned out to be nothing, either the lab technician was inadequate or PRODIBIO messed up. Although I seriously doubt it, the company is reputable and sells worldwide; if they were producing low-quality products, it would have been all over the forums by now. The same can be said about FAUNY and KZ; if one didn't launch successfully, or maybe more than one, then of course it can be said that it's a failure.
Nicole
Everything comes from nature and only from nature, 7 types of feed, and constantly throughout the year 5 types, I think this is clear and understandable to everyone. How not to get involved, you forget that the topic is not about SPS and chemistry, right? As for the wonderful part, yes, everything has been and is okay for me without adding 30%.
Joshua9847
The topic probably became known as "starting an aquarium on a standard system with the option to use live rock (LR) or dry rock (DR), with or without starter chemistry." Because no one writes about the alternative system.
Nicole
And the question of the topic is what? About SPS or softness? Neither one nor the other. Well, I mentioned the thread.
Nicole263
I hesitated here too, it's more of a fake, but the money invested three years ago was substantial, we got burned and gave up.
Erica
Can I get an answer to the question? If the launch is on the Black Sea (Ch.M.) with Living Stones (J.K.), then why report Living Stones (J.K.) to the IP afterwards?
Christopher3770
Well, that was a long time ago; I even read on foreign forums that it is being used successfully.
Curtis9143
Well, finally I heard what I wanted. And if someone else agreed that C.M. (Black Sea, Black Sea) stone is just a base for L.K. (live stones) I.P., because making a reef entirely from L.K. (live stones) I.P. is very expensive (even I agree that it's expensive and I've experienced it myself). Then the topic approached the finish line.
Randy
I might be paranoid, but it seems to me that product placement is progressing on the forum. Special thanks to Alexey for the post from his phone - he described everything accurately as it is.
I would like to hear another important nuance - what experienced marine aquarium enthusiasts would recommend to beginners when starting up, what scheme to use. There are many options for starting up, but not all are suitable for beginners. Naturally, if we choose a golden mean in terms of price. I would like to hear opinions on the scheme and the necessary equipment. I think many beginners reading this will find it useful, especially those who are really digging into the topics.
PS. Although, perhaps, HIDE contradicts the question.
Angela6489
It is impossible to keep track of and remember everything that is written here and to read a person's thoughts from a distance, especially if the topic is stretched over a hundred pages. I opened this topic to clarify once again and convey to newcomers and others how to properly determine their choice of system.
Brooke3987
And I was leading to the fact that in the topic he claimed the aquarium would be without a skimmer and live rocks. How should I understand you if you have a well-established system for starting aquariums?
Michele
It's just a topic for discussion, and I don't understand why you all take it so defensively. I calmly asked you to describe an alternative system; maybe someone will find something useful in it. You keep avoiding the topic and being rude in every post you write. I agree that I also had a Black Sea stone in my aquarium, and everything grew, even if it grows differently for others. Before I dismantled my reef, I had about 60 kg of Black Sea stone, but I still think the credit goes not to it, but to the chemistry I was using. Because nothing really grew on it in five years.
Leah
Now it's clear, and I agree that as a basis for building a soft reef, Black Sea stone of good quality can be used in small quantities, and there won't be any threads on it since it won't be under light. However, I only use live rocks (J.K.) that are well-cured for SPS corals, and no additives are needed, unless for fun. If someone has decided to create a system for keeping SPS, then based on live rock (J.K.), there's no need to save money; you can end up losing more later on coral rotation and in searching for the causes of possible failures.
Kathryn514
It's not a question of "having to feed." The question is how to more easily remove uneaten leftovers and processed products??
And, so I don't have to write it twice, there are people who don't use sand but successfully use crushed coral. Yet for some reason, they remain silent on the topic...
Jessica6754
Many here remain silent because they are afraid of getting in trouble. In this topic, I ask everyone to express their opinion about the launch; any opinion is welcome.
Joseph591
Off-topic. Maybe we could start with ourselves?
Christopher7213
Moreover, there are systems with completely bare bottoms; maintaining and caring for such aquariums is easier, and they are cleaner. If using gravel, it is better to choose the type recommended by KZ, 2-3 mm, and it must be siphoned to the full depth.
Jenny
Well, recently someone almost attacked me regarding the use of ProDibio. And it's also interesting that very often from people who don't use various supplements, I hear the phrase - aquarium addict. What does that even mean? How should it be understood? Or is it an analogy for daily use?
Jason
Neither I nor the moderators can fix the voting table due to technical reasons; it is not editable.
Sheila
I used this crumb, and if you don't siphon it or stir it for 3 months, it turns into asphalt. The less you mess with the stones and disturb the soil, the better. So where's the logic?
Ricardo7341
That's why I wrote that I'm reconsidering my attitude towards "chemistry," but not towards all of it... Apparently, I choked. An aquarium is like a drug addict—if you put it on vodka, it will struggle without it. If the aquarium gets used to the chemicals, it will be difficult to remove them because its internal balance will adapt to the chemicals. That's why I said that only in cases of long separation can you provide some support (probably)—but personally, I still haven't decided exactly what, how, and when... I need to mature on this matter thoughtfully, not in a fit of passion.
Gabrielle5053
I meant to include 4 categories of launches with descriptions in the first post.
Tracey
, added.
Guy
1. Standard: L.R. (live rocks) + technique optional
2. L.R. + D.R.R. (dry reef rocks) + technique optional
3. D.R.R. (dry reef rocks) (and all other materials except L.R. (live rocks)) + chemistry + technique optional
4. Black Sea L.R. (live rocks) 90% + 10% L.R. (live rocks) Indo-Pacific and minimum equipment.
5. Black Sea L.R. (live rocks) 50% and sand and 50% L.R. Indo-Pacific + technical equipment.
6. Black Sea L.R. (live rocks) 30% and sand and L.R. (live rocks) Indo-Pacific 70% + technical equipment.
Or so.
Steven7574
I did say to siphon her for sure, and she siphons well unlike the GP, which is better left alone, but still, it will get silted over time.
James5032
Well, together we have compiled 7 points for setting up an aquarium.
Joshua448
Hello everyone, I was running on the standard system! S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), sand, foam, I added some chemicals and I like it! I have a sample.
Cynthia6578
There is almost nothing to add. Someone drew an analogy with a drug addict, and everyone has their own, 100% drug addict is at home. A closed system cannot survive without external intervention (chemicals, equipment), and if you want something natural - dive with a mask.
Jonathan6173
Is it needed for the pulp? If so, what are the benefits?
Of course, the SPS is clear, and how much do the monthly expenses for a 500L aquarium amount to?
So, he doesn't care about the Reef, whether it was ZEOvit or not, and why can't it be returned?
Kevin3579
It's interesting, I have a question for you: here you don't support alternatives, but there in the closed topic, you sing praises. So which launch and what direction in the content of the aquarium are you for?
Vincent
It doesn't matter what corals are in the aquarium; all corals need good conditions and water quality. The ZEOvit system simply helps maintain the system in perfect cleanliness and acts as a kind of safeguard.
In this topic, there is an answer to your question, and your gratitude is there as well.
It seems I have already answered this more than once...
Curtis9143
I will respond to you: I have already expressed my opinion on this topic.
This is not about me.
Larry
No questions, everything is clear.
Joshua
Off-topic As usual, you are mistaken. I didn't come up with this nomenclature. There was a comrade here for a while... And you know him well. So, don't blame those who didn't do it...
Antonio
The unknown instills fear (c)
Not enough!!! Damn little...
Kathleen
What is lacking?
Melissa2062
It would be interesting to hear opinions about sand, as alternative enthusiasts use Black Sea sand, which is understandable, while those who prefer the standard system use dead sand (calcium carbonate): what is sold or what was sold by Vitaliy NOX, and that Arowana as well. Many also use Carib Sea.
I'm curious about users' opinions for and against, personal observations. There is already a topic about sand, but this one touches on both alternatives and standards. Maybe someone will say something interesting, and someone will take note.
Rodney
On Aqua Logo, and on our Forum, every second new sailor starts the description of their mini-system with words of gratitude to Lev Mironov for his step-by-step guide to successfully launching and easily maintaining Mini Nemo. For most marine aquarium enthusiasts, such a step-by-step guide is exactly what they need. Mini Nemo is already available. Now it would be nice to have a more advanced guide for a system that can accommodate more demanding corals and a larger volume of water. Without unnecessary formulas, complex dosing systems, and other fluidized bed reactors.
Richard
Here is the Carib Sea sand, just photographed. It's white and you can see some life in it.
Natasha
The sand from Vitaly looks beautiful, with a fraction of 1-1.5 mm, calcium carbonate, and quickly becomes live. In further use in a reef aquarium, it received an "excellent" rating. It needs to be rinsed before adding or initial placement. The Black Sea sand, made from crushed mussels, can be sifted down to a fraction of 2-3 mm, looks beautiful, and does not require rinsing as it is taken wet and clean from the shore. It also showed "excellent" results in use.
Diana7891
What is your assertion of "excellent" based on? Support your words with facts and references. Personally, I believe he is not suitable. Let's read "DSB Translation of Shimek's article."
Mitchell7972
I personally don't... a link? I'll find it now. A photo of a fish farmer with Black Sea sand, which is already 3 years old, taken with 50% live and 50% dry. I read B. Shimek, I'm reading, and I will continue to read, which I wish for you too... there is much to learn from it.
Brianna
Even in the third case, chemistry may not be necessary if, of course, water from a functioning healthy system is added. Simply put, with chemistry, the process will likely be faster for a couple of weeks. SRK differs from JK only in the mucus, and the structure is the same, so if you revive SRK (dry reef rocks), they will essentially be indistinguishable from JK (live rocks).
Jeremy8404
Are there bugs, worms, etc.? I have SPS grown with live rocks.
P.S. From normal live rocks.
Jonathan6173
I use CoralSand (natural fine gravel), which is sold at a, and I am very satisfied. I also use fairly large coral gravel of unknown origin, and everything is fine as well.
Joshua8425
I also use fine coral sand, which I bought a long time ago at Arowana, and I am very satisfied with it.
Joseph591
I have the same )) Max currently has... Everything will gradually come with the fragments. I'll say this - I will never put more unheld live stones in my system again... Here’s a photo I found:
Helen
On the contrary, I was almost trying to take it right off the wheels.
Diana7891
Last year, so much came up for me that now I will be restarting...
Brian7092
The aquarium is set up on CARIBSEA sand. The rock is not overexposed. The aquarium is six months old. The volume is 2.5 tons.
Daniel
The aquarium is set up on CARIBSEA sand. The rock is pre-owned. It is on the ZEOvit system. The aquarium is almost a year old. The volume is 650 liters.
Melinda2740
Here is an overview of 4 types of sand that I have at the moment. Photos numbered 1, 2, 3, 4.
1. CaribSea OCEAN DIRECT Caribbean Live Sand.
2. Sand from
3. The Black Sea from Dzharylhach Island (Skadovsk)
4. The Black Sea from Tarkhankut. Atlash.
James4342
better than the Caribbean can only be the Caribbean
Amy5468
Of everything that was in my aquariums, the Caribbean is the coolest both in appearance and overall... It is also worth noting that for some time there was sand from Tarkhankut - no issues with it! I just don't like its appearance.
Troy8808
The 450L panoramic aquarium was set up 1.5 months ago with pre-owned live rocks, T5 lighting, a protein skimmer, a biopellet reactor, a fluidized bed carbon filter, circulation pumps, and most of the electronic equipment from Tunze. There is no sand at all. The 550-liter designer tank is open and mainly contains soft corals and LPS, with almost the same set of equipment. Today's photo.
Cynthia6578
Did I imagine it, or are there two white-breasted ones swimming in the corner?
It has a great volume, looks deep, but I feel like something is missing, I don't know what.
Joyce
I saw the jar in person (when I brought the delivery) - the aquarium is gorgeous, no doubt about it. Do you think about putting some euphyllia or acropora in there, just to sway with the waves?
Mario
In my opinion, if the word chemistry refers to ......... (edited at the moderator's request), then if I remember correctly, there was a topic about how there is just water in the ampoules, without anything living, so I don't understand what it's for.
I personally added fish a week after salting - everything was fine.
The strongest chemistry for starting up is water from a long-established system. I'll skip the live rocks.
Kimberly3727
The perfect launch - I launched it myself.
Kimberly3727
Looked under the microscope? I wonder what's there.
Gene1948
In my personal opinion, it's complete nonsense.
Melissa3200
I was specifically talking about this puff - this topic was discussed by several people who used it, and the conversation seems to have died down. The point is that those who are starting it for the first time probably haven't read the article about the puff.
There seems to be another downside - storage temperature (especially during transportation).
If someone had a successful launch using ......... (edited at the moderator's request), it sounds more like a saying about a cold (if treated with medicine, it goes away in 7 days, but if not treated, it takes a whole week).
Michael
Wow, how he summed everything up, it's clear he's a "great specialist."
Or maybe it would be simpler to say "to hell with this marine aquaristics."
Randy
I already said - she didn't let go.
I want to point out that I expressed my personal opinion on the topic.
P.S. Your company's fault is also present, so there's no need to write about the specialists.
Joshua8425
For those who are not yet familiar with the eco, I recommend reading his topic. Pay special attention to post number 10; it contains everything about his attitude towards marine aquaristics.
Wendy8540
It looks a bit unappealing and petty -
You can also check the attitude of the airfares towards clients.
Please say something on the topic.
Thomas
Well... people are getting ready to launch on CRK, maybe you can advise how to do it without chemicals.
Laura3673
Yes, in your thread that I linked to, you accused everyone but yourself...
And in your posts above, there is no valuable information, only an unfounded and unsubstantiated opinion of a person who lacks experience...
Richard2180
k...arium-s-nulya/
Max will definitely help!
You can't even imagine how many people can give a good review about prodibio. Did you personally analyze (prodibio)?
Mary
Max, the question is clearly not in the right place. I would ask Denis to answer it. Given that this is a relevant question for me today, it would be great to get some advice (of course, I mean not just starting without chemicals, but what and which products to use...). In turn, I am ready to describe the process in detail later...
Jacob4800
As mentioned earlier, Denis is a salesperson here, and he can sell you, as previously stated, anything he wants, while maintaining an uninterested demeanor and having his own opinion. Let's listen to what he has to say and what arguments he will present.
Anne4851
In general, I can say that unsuccessful aquarium setups are 90% the fault of the person, not the chemistry or the stones.
Mark
Recently, I started using S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) (L.R. (live rocks) 10%). I used Fauna Marin chemistry:
- UltraBio
- UltraBak
- Ultra MinS
Zooplankton is swarming on the glass. No dinoflagellates, cyanobacteria, or hair algae. Only SPS in the aquariums, colors are almost back, and some are starting to grow. I believe that Fauna and KZ are products of the same level. If KZ were sold around the corner, I would use it.
Cindy
We have all seen the launch of the SPS aquarium, and the condition of the aquarium is impressive. I would like to see your successfully launched SPS for reassurance, as words are not enough.
Bryan1851
Photo of the SPS aquarium in the studio! It's scary to look at! Knowledge, to evaluate the work!
Wendy8540
I can easily share my opinion on this matter - ......... (edited at the moderator's request) nonsense. Live water is the way to go, and I think it's definitely better for starting than a virtual ......... (edited at the moderator's request). If you're worried about mono..... - just use live water from several systems.
How did you manage to assess my experience? My 100-liter aquarium is a joy to behold - what's wrong with that? And I haven't even mentioned the 100-liter frag tank without equipment (a pump like Atman 202 and a heater) - that's real experience, and I should note that it's without ......... (edited at the moderator's request).
Heather
I'll repeat the question -
Did you examine it under a microscope? I'm curious about what's there.
And you can shoot me if you want - what the hell kind of bacteria are in a sealed ampoule? Was the storage temperature maintained? From my past experience with Airif, I can firmly say that there is a 99% chance they stored it carelessly.
P.S. As I mentioned before, it looks more like treating a cold in a week and in 7 days.
Stefanie9771
In my opinion, my posts for you are all negatives, but for future buyers, it could be very valuable, as ......... (edited at the request of the moderator) is not free.
Caroline1599
I personally didn't do it - did anyone from this topic do it, who talks about it easily?
If I had bought and poured a prodibila into my M.A. (marine aquarium) - I would also talk about it as a wonder, because to say that I simply threw money away is somehow not...
Kayla7655
Is this an example of exemplary editing you showed, or what? I looked at it for a long time and didn't understand how this photo relates to the topic.
Linda
The photo shows my first start with just 2 kg of live rock.
I don't claim to be exemplary - I enjoy tinkering.
Joseph9203
What's so unclear about this? Here's the display part, the sample is on the side, and the overflow is on top)))
Kyle
On top, a sump (grass + skimmers + heater)
On the side, a temporary solution - dismantled.
Jason5071
And where is the lamp?
Bryan1851
Mg 150W + 2 pcs. PL 24 (not yet installed in the photo)
Justin9867
Why do we need such a system?
John5528
Damn, Kulibin must have closed his eyes in the afterlife.
Tracey
The main thing is the final result!
Imagine that a tall lid is installed on the aquarium, which hides all the equipment (the lid has not been made yet, even though all the materials have been purchased a long time ago and are gathering dust on the shelf).
Ronald5720
To avoid drilling anything + hide the sump above the aquarium + get rid of the sound of falling water in the drain + + +
Julia
Off-topic: Judging by some photos, it seems that some people don't sit on the toilet but rather stick their heads in there.
Jacob7201
The topic of the photo is a controversial issue! If the photo is of the test subjects' aquariums being twins, then yes, but it's still not a fact that the experiment will be unbiased, especially if it is conducted by an interested party rather than a passionate professional.
Let me explain my point - to set up two completely identical aquariums (twins - exact copies down to the design and flow) and test them.
Eric
I understand that the LPS has been successfully launched? If so, I have already posted photos in the previous posts... However, in this aquarium, there are both soft corals and LPS and SPS (small-polyped corals). I will post the photos again...
Joshua448
The photo is normal - but what is its meaning? Where is the scent of the experiment?
In response, I could post a photo of my aquarium, which, like yours, seems to be in very good order, so to speak.
Brianna
Did I say that this is an experiment? This is a normal, proper, classic launch without any perversions...
Jennifer9100
Why be so rude? This is a product of creative thinking. Everyone has their own views and approaches to this. For him, the optimal "standard" option for starting a marine aquarium is his method, and it suits him; this is his innovation, everything is flourishing and smelling good, and I also don't understand why one would need to add anything for improvement. Off-topic: It's like the saying goes, "there's no accounting for taste." Some prefer women who are 100 kg heavier than themselves and lose their minds in their presence, while they feel nauseous at the sight of a 90x60x90 figure. They are few, but they exist. For some, this photo will evoke laughter, for others, a pause or shock, and for others, delight, and each will come to their own conclusion.
Richard
I will definitely stop by to take a look, and maybe my deputy will drop by today to check it out.
Regarding the topic - my personal opinion is that - ......... (edited at the moderator's request) for self-soothing. It’s better to add live food from several aquariums.
Leah
Regarding the water, it's 50-50.
1. Some people simply have no access to it.
2. If it is to be poured, it is preferable to do it 50-50.
3. I am against such salting; it's like pouring the blood of a sick person into a healthy one, and then it's unknown what kind of infection will emerge.
Tracey
As an option, you can salt 100% synthetic with dry reef rocks and wait for the water to settle with aeration, and in my opinion, this will be the same as pouring ......... (edited at the request of the moderator) to start.
Danielle9144
If you continue in this manner, the topic will be closed with appropriate conclusions.
Gregory
Will the reef bacteria and everything else appear from the Holy Spirit?
Heather9815
We understand your opinion, enough of repeating the same thing. But I don't get the point of mispronouncing the name? Is it some kind of mantra or a deep-seated resentment towards all of humanity?
I understand that I won't get a decent photo again... to avoid being unsubstantiated, I'm posting:
The photo is bad, taken with a phone.
Deborah2682
First of all, Denis is a forum participant, and as I see, he has even become a moderator. Secondly, do I look like an idiot and not understand that he is a seller? That is, what he can sell me is my problem... To buy something and put it in the aquarium, one needs to understand it, and I don't. That's why I want someone knowledgeable to explain to me what they think should be done. But I have the impression that AIRIF has chosen a guerrilla tactic, not telling anyone anything... This approach is fundamentally wrong. Still, I would like specifics and an answer to my question.
Tammy2040
Maybe so, but not in this topic. This topic is about the pros and cons of starting an aquarium using the standard process and alternatives. Create a new topic and discuss chemistry and starting there. I have already mentioned this multiple times.
Michael5242
We will wait for statements on the topic.
Crystal
We have no secrets. We have tried multiple times to explain on the forum what works and how, but we constantly faced inadequate criticism and comments from "great specialists." At the moment, there is no desire to explain or describe anything. If you have questions about starting an aquarium or using chemicals for setup or maintenance, or solving problems, feel free to call or message us; we will be happy to help. P.S. I also believe that Max was banned unfairly.
Judy
And yet, everything remained a secret.
It seems that I am not allowing you to convey the truth to the people and I am deleting your posts with the truth.
Invite to the topic about ......... (edited at the request of the moderator) and we will all comment there to ensure everything is according to the forum rules.
P.S. And don't put yourself above others (I'm talking about the "great specialists" - and I remind you how your specialists sent me knowingly defective goods).
Todd8452
Yes, that's correct, but to be sure that this is a normal and proper launch, thousands of cans were destroyed around the world as a result of those very experiments that led to the right path. And as all discussions and debates on various forums show, there is no other way to a successful reef; there may only be some minor corrective deviations in the form of zeolite filters, pellet reactors, etc. All other paths are dead ends, and no excellent results have been achieved there.
Michelle104
The author of the topic actually started talking about chemistry as one of the main components of setting up an aquarium according to the standard scheme. With such an approach, where the discussion can only be selective, this topic stops being interesting to me... as there is nothing to talk about then.
Scott8536
I'm trying to convey this, but for some reason, people are used to making mistakes and repeating unsuccessful experiences...
Amy5070
Here are more details, a couple of photos of the candy related to the review, for the amazement of the young and as a lesson on how it should be done.
Jennifer5784
So I wrote it, no one succeeded.
Melissa
How did it not work out? According to the voting, 9 people have "alternative" aquariums.
Tina
Aquarium without J.K. (live rocks)? Sure! I'll bring a kilo of iris!
Charles
I deleted the post - I have coral sand in my aquarium - so I mistakenly posted about the nominee - sorry.
Karen1649
I disagree! I have mussels from Tarkhankut from the year before last, and out of 5 on the stone, one died or was eaten, I don't know, but the rest have even grown. And I brought amphipods from the Azov Sea from the estuary for the Helman and poured them in by the bunch, and they are multiplying in the sump. It's a double-edged sword, as they say.
Whitney
Shrimp, fish, hermits, they adapt without problems, I think everything else will also adjust to the required salinity.
Nicholas5194
Ha, I'm the best here. I currently have an aquarium without live rocks. It's not the most successful one, so I'm shy about posting photos. Once I change the osmotic membrane... then the aquarium will look better, because right now it's on tap water...
Diana8604
It's bad that you write first and then think. What does coral crumb have to do with it?
Corey3201
Although I voted for the standard system, as I don't know how I will manage with the system without live rocks and dry reef rocks.
William
And here it is not correct, as I know without straining my brain on the forum, there are about 11 or more people who launched on the Living Black Sea sand and stones and then messed up the J.K. (living stones) Indo-Pacific, some over time, and the sand was later removed, replacing it with either Caribbean Sea or from.
Nicole
Was there a pen?
Rick
I know too - it's you!
But after the placement of J.K. (living stones) - you are no longer the alternative you, that's it.
Lynn4242
Among those I know personally and have seen at their homes, they have aquariums, and they definitely have cool soft - combined reef sponges.
Kathleen
As I already said, this is no longer an alternative system.
David953
Yes, and I partially agree; one aquarium is completely, as they say, 90% alternative, the other one is not, even though it was started as an alternative. But a lot has changed after the restart or the forced move to a larger volume (there was nowhere to plant the fish, so they were crammed into the alternative setup).
Alyssa6727
I answered that it's not bots.
John1464
I understand you wanted to see my personal "candies." Here are some photos of my home aquarium over the years; the glass is the same, the startup method is classic, but at one point, I used some chemistry, which is probably noticeable in the photos. One common feature is the exceptionally good live rocks. Yes, I forgot to mention that this cube is approximately 390 liters in volume. The equipment includes a protein skimmer and a circulation pump as mandatory.
Bonnie
Thus, the Black Sea J.K. (live stones) is even cheaper than S.R.K. (dry reef stones) - double savings.
Scott9892
What are you talking about??? I've had a Geteractis magnificus sitting on the same Black Sea stone for three years and it doesn't move. I won't even mention the other non-smelling ones that are also growing, which you can't even fit into a bucket.
Lee425
it's unlikely to be "Black Sea stones" anymore
Stephen5841
Well, this is a different tobacco, while that is an alternative, the standard.
James1625
What are they like? Are they really the "buligies"?
Wesley
Actually, I described in GREAT detail all the aspects of launching and maintaining, as well as the experiments conducted on the reef, in my topic on Logo.
Alicia5489
Everything in the Black Sea has probably long been extinct and washed away; now it is just a "substrate" - simply stone, which will resemble more in "composition" the Red Sea's living stones.
Andrea8397
Yes, I'm nothing... I'm not talking about carrots, I'm talking about cabbage: BIOTOP, a piece of land or water body occupied by a specific biocenosis, the species composition of which is determined by a set of abiotic factors (conditions of relief, climate, etc.). In a narrower sense, a biotop is considered as the environment in which a complex of animals and plants that are part of the biocenosis exists. The Black Sea stone is not a biotop of a coral reef, that's what I'm talking about. And the fact that the actinia lives there is good.
Ryan1989
Anemone is not an indicator; I had a (quadricolor) on the glass for six months, and then it crawled onto the rocks.
Leslie
Who did you say that to and for what reason?
Paul
It doesn't matter at all what coral or anemone sits on or grows from. Therefore, one cannot judge the quality of live rocks or substrates similar to live rocks. All aquaculture corals are fragged on artificial substrates and they thrive perfectly well.
Jennifer
Well, if the Black Sea live rocks in my aquarium turn into Red Sea ones, I won't be upset at all.
John5528
This will never happen; for that, this stone must have once been a coral colony of the Red Sea.
Amanda
Denis, I mentioned my planned launch as an example, and I became very interested in the chemistry aspect of this project. If it's not too much trouble, could you describe how and what you would do for my volume? I swear, I would be ready to come to Kyiv and buy chemicals from you at a reasonable price.
Michelle1505
come from Germany to buy a German product
Wesley
For the sake of laughter, it's often cheaper than even in online stores in Germany... Paras. In fact, people buy not from the store, but from the seller. I'm still very often in Kyiv. Off-topic, not an ad, but I liked Airif more than CA—not the store itself, but just to talk and communicate on the topic...
Brandy
Your statement touched my mom. My mom works at the Institute of Mineral Resources as a senior mineralogist. She claims that there are pores in the live stones of the Black Sea. There are fewer of them for one simple reason. Once, the live stones of the Black Sea were shells, and Crimea was a seabed. During the process of evolution, the Earth's crust experienced numerous earthquakes. As a result of strong shifts in the Earth's plates, the live stones of the Black Sea became denser.
Jason5071
Offtopic, but I once read that Crimea, at least its southern part, has always been an island throughout the times of the Black Sea, whether it was salty or fresh.
Chris
250 million years ago, there was Pangaea.
Rebecca1419
Where did you read? I trust my mom, who has 50 years of experience in geology.
Emma
Once upon a time, the first time and the second time, either here in the topic or in you, Sasha (Odessa), there was a link to this too... Honestly, I'm too lazy to search...
But it seems to me that it is no longer logical to discuss whether it is possible to use C.M. (Black Sea, Черноморский) J.K. (live stones) in the reef - it is already clear that it is possible.
There are just a couple of questions left: why? and is it really feasible for the reef? That's all...
The topic is about which of the launches is the most effective and optimal, not about where Crimea was and what stones are there...
Mark9853
There are pores!!! But they are denser than in J.K. (living stones) IP, hence the weight.
Julie4738
Show mom the map where the Red Sea is and where the Black Sea is, as well as what coral colonies look like and what compressed shells look like; probably mom, as a specialist, will be able to understand the difference.
James8887
It's been clear for a long time. No one has explained WHY to use C.M. (Black Sea, Black Sea)? What's the point?
Samuel6138
It's also clear that it's more accessible, and if it's fresh, it doesn't cause any harm. After all, some bacteria are present, and most importantly, it allows for significant cost reduction during the setup. I have already mentioned that I used it when setting up the Boyu. However, 80% of the volume consisted of live rocks (LR) and so-called live sand. Right now, when setting up a 400-liter aquarium, I haven't decided how much live rock (LR) to use; the reason is simply financial.
Sandra7004
Cheapness + almost 100% alive as I received Black Sea live rocks in a barrel of water and they have abundant growth of Carolina.
There are reef live rocks covered with Carolina, meaning they are completely encrusted, which is even worse than Black Sea live rocks.
Regarding the inferior quality of purchased live rocks - if they are growing, it means the live rocks were not treated (light trimming + urchins).
Maria
Every person has a desire to do something differently from others and achieve a better result. A marine aquarium is no exception. Especially if you live by the Black Sea. I would also bring some hermit crabs and shrimp if I had gone to the sea even once this year.
Bonnie
Perhaps a Black Sea biotope can be created in the Black Sea aquariums (live rocks), but something more tropical is unlikely.
Derek7322
Igor, it's clear that finances are involved, 30 kg of J.K. (live rocks) 6000, but it can be like this: 5 kg of J.K. (live rocks) 1000, 25 kg of C.R.K. (dry reef rocks) - 1250, totaling 2250...
Julie
Or for some, it can be like this - 2250./20. (approximate price of Ch.M. (Black Sea, Black Sea) J.K. (living stones)) = 112 kg.
Heather
I plan to get 15-20 kg of live rocks, but I don't know where to find cool dry reef rocks, something porous and flat. If you know, let me know in private. Yes, there are also problems with fresh live rocks from suppliers, as well as with live sand. So that's the answer to your question.
Brandi
I use basic logic. Different species of fish, corals, bacteria, algae, and others live (and survive, which is more important to us) in different temperature conditions and salinities. By the way, examples were given on this forum, particularly about Black Sea anemones.
In general, it's a shame for the country. There is a sea, but no corals.
Javier5186
Somewhere it was written "do no harm"; if a person doesn't love SPS, then there's no point in advising harmful things, as it seems somewhat malicious.
Karen1649
Unless there are alternatives to the Normal systems, and where are they, let me see, but they are not there, everything is in the voting.
Collin
Therefore, I appeal to marine aquarium enthusiasts to leave it for those interested, in order to ease the tension.
Brent7831
Well, for now, I'm neither a supporter nor an opponent; I'm still experimenting. But regarding the stones, you should only take them from Tarkhankut, as there is the least river runoff there, which means maximum salinity and minimal nutrients carried by rivers. Closer to Odessa are the Danube, Dniester, and Dnieper. A salinity map is attached.
However, again, the fact that the stones in Odessa are worse is true, but no one knows how much worse (significantly or not).
Daniel9952
7 euros per kg? Hmm, I was buying it for 6 USD. Total: 120.
Amber
Your post is heading towards a flame...
Kenneth7331
Yes, there is no pen nearby, so it accumulates. Odessa is not that small, on the overcrowded beaches the water is not very good, but if you swim past the breakwater or move a little away - everything is fine. ... But that's just poetry, since almost all the stone is very heavy and not very appealing in shape/color, which I personally don't like - the decoration with S.R.K. (dry reef stones) will be 1.5 times larger, but the weight will be the same.
Robert5335
It wouldn't be bad to decide - is it a topic for beginners or professionals?
Whether it's a pen or not - in my opinion, there is no difference in the equipment of the system if there is a possibility to achieve balance.
The problem in Odessa is hydrogen sulfide near the shore at times and sewage (I won't claim it's sewage, but I think stormwater definitely drains into the sea. Although even here in Kharkiv, some homeowners without sewage manage to connect their sewage to the stormwater system).
Christopher4108
When people argue about things they haven't tried themselves, it can be summed up in one word - chatter. Unfortunately, this topic has come down to just that, and I personally haven't gained much from it. There are many directions in marine aquariums, and all of them have a right to exist.
Christine864
How much interesting stuff there is!
Anne
What is alternative about this ceramic? Moscow aquarists use it normally; it is not particularly different from S.R.K. (dry reef rocks). Just like S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), it is also advisable to soak it. In terms of price, it is slightly more expensive than S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) and slightly cheaper than L.K. (live rocks).
Wendy8540
Sorry, but I don't understand - why do you dislike Black Sea live rocks so much?
In terms of shape, they can be quite beautiful.
I understand the porosity isn't ideal, but with a mass of, say, 50-100 kg, I think that's manageable (the pores for aerobic and anaerobic processes should be sufficient).
The composition is calcium.
At a price like that for Black Sea live rocks, I think it's actually quite good.
Stephen
Do you not realize?
Is it really something they sell now???
Alyssa1438
There are options for 4 euros per kg. The stone varies... The porous, beautiful ones are more expensive, while the cobblestones are cheaper... And it might be cheaper as well...
I just provided an example in prices. Converting to known prices isn't that difficult.
No matter how we twist and turn it: live rock and dry reef rock are the foundation of the reef. Cement, ceramics, Black Sea live rock, plastic, etc. are more optional and for saving money. The difference in setups seems to have been described above as well...
I hope that either Denis or someone else will elaborate on the chemistry for starting with dry reef rock...
Chad231
I think they will definitely reveal it! But! in a separate topic
The other day I filmed a video of a polyp of Acanthastrea, and in that video, in the left corner, you can see the desired plankton (sorry for the quality - I filmed it on my phone)
Nicole7122
So much has been written, so many emotions and nerves have been spent, yet no one has shown what a (successful) aquarium looks like on an alternative system. I'm not even mentioning the super alternative system on Black Sea stone, without a skimmer and using AF.
Dennis
By the way, regarding masterpieces, not a single living stone (ЧЖ.К.) was used in the construction of these riffs, so take a look, don't be lazy. There's a lot to learn there.
Robert1845
For relaxation -
Black Sea in Florida
Adrienne
On Reef Central, there is an article by Kenneth Wingerter titled "Try Creating a Coldwater Marine Aquarium." The author discusses an alternative to the tropical aquarium with its well-trodden setup scheme and suggests having a discussion on this topic over a mug of beer.
Danielle8118
Yours.
Jessica8898
As for me, I can send 5 people at once to relax for a couple of weeks.
Chad231
If necessary, I can give it a try.
Vanessa
Live rocks and sand of the Red Sea.
1 and 2 Live rocks at depth.
3 "premium" live rocks
4, 5, 6 - sand
7 Live rocks at depth
8, 9, 10 - rocks in the intertidal zone.
