This needs to be posted here.
There is a point - especially in an aquarium under a year old... or when introducing new fish - or during a sudden outbreak of crypto... in a mature, established system, I consider the constant use of UV harmful.

A 6-9 watt UV light can kill bacteria. To kill cryptosporidium, 36 watts or higher is needed.

This is not an axiom, but yet another myth about cutlets.
Other criteria are also taken into account, such as the number of changes in the aquarium's volume per hour and exposure time. It is not at all necessary to kill the microbe in one go - a less powerful irradiation will "suppress" the same microbe, and by the 3rd, 4th, or 5th pass, it will finish it off. If the fish is already affected, then everything depends on its immunity - the microbe is already on it, and you can't pass it through UV along with the fish - the rest of the gene pool of the crypto in the water and sand will be affected by UV.

What do you think about an ozonator for a marine aquarium? Does anyone use it?
Lee
an expert on ozone - uses it occasionally - it's a good thing, but you have to be careful with it - when Tolya returns from the expedition, he might respond here.

It is necessary to control the res, otherwise it is easy to lay the riff. Ideally, it is best to feed a pen, which carries less risk (a little less).

What does it have to do with this?

A person who gives advice on every topic in the forum must have a lot of experience. They should have a better perspective...
Stephen5857
Ahhh... well, that's right - that's what a forum is for, to ask if you don't know or to seek advice or to give advice yourself. But advice in the form of outdated dogmas is not advice - it's easier to just say, "go there, there's a ton of stuff written about it in 2003."

So I give the person advice. Whether it is good or bad, the author will decide for themselves. A question was asked - an answer was given. An answer that I consider correct.

Off-topic What am I doing??? Or is there a monopoly on the right to give advice and to turn personal (to me)?
I respect you as an experienced specialist - you justified your advice and referred to the material - so why make personal judgments???
