Oh... I want to be by the sea!!!...
Jennifer7159
What did you shoot with?
John3165
Canon PowerShot D10
Underwater point-and-shoot camera. The manual states it can go up to 10 meters, but people on forums say it can withstand 25-30 meters (the microphone, however, gets damaged from the pressure).
Overall, it's a quite decent camera for amateur photography.
However, there is a downside! The seals on the compartment covers don't hold well. In my case, I dove into cold water with a camera that had been heated in the sun, and it "sucked in" moisture, causing the display to turn off (a protective feature).
Forums suggest that the seals should be lubricated with silicone grease.
I haven't tried that yet (I don't have any), but I used petroleum jelly - it seems to hold.
If the weather permits, I will dive some more.
Leah
I used a similar camera, just the Olympus 550 WP. We barely revived it. It's just a gimmick and money down the drain. It's best to buy the cheapest case for underwater shooting.
Silicone grease is sold with underwater housings, but you can also look for it separately in stores.
Randall7906
Similar does not mean the same
A normal box + a normal camera costs 10,000.
For now, that's enough. And there are basically no boxes for it, since it's underwater.
Today I dove for about an hour - it was fine!!!
Julie4738
Finally, in the morning, I waited for clear water!!!
Bullheads.
Ulva.
Compote with jellyfish. (I got burned all over while getting out)
Just landscapes of the bottom.
Greenlings (shy - hard to catch in the frame)
And a little bit of catch
Structure of the stone:
If the weather is good, there will be a continuation.

Ryan
Where did you find such stones?
David4089
Great stone, but there are better options... Sergey, you have plenty of choices there... try to find live stones with hard green macroalgae, like Porolithon.
Elizabeth1221
More like omorpha. In post #7, the third photo is definitely Ulva.
Melanie
In the sea at a depth of about 2 meters. Or do you need a location on the map? Nikolaevka, the right side of the beach in front of the pier.
Todd
I'm not sure, but I won't argue. There's also Enteromorpha here; if I get the chance, I'll take a shot.
Keith7534
It's not very good overall. Everything is overgrown, and the stones are hard to see. If the weather is good, I'll give it a try; right now, the waves are up and the water is murky again.
Stephanie9175
Next week we are going to Tarkhankut for some stones. That's why it was interesting.
Michelle13
I haven't been to Tarkhankut, although I really want to. It's easier to find good stones there.
Joshua
I dream of getting there))) I really want to dive! The water in Partenit was not enjoyable at all... except for the beautiful view near the Bear Mountain!
Julia
You dive, pull it out, and take a look. If it's suitable, we drag it to the shore; if not, we put it back in place.
Joshua9340
It looks more like a little dog... I used to have one like that. It was very timid. It never got used to the aquarium conditions and died. I think this is the so-called "gray dog." They are also found in Tarkhan. While you can catch sphinxes and peacocks without any problems, this one is much harder to catch; it gets scared and is very fast. It is rarer and mostly found with peacocks. The bullheads have a more gray color, while this one has reddish-brown spots, and it has no horns. By the way, the stones are great... I hope the transports are waiting somewhere underwater, not hidden on the shore or under the bed in the room?
Brandi
In a trough with water. Borrowed from the owners. Standing in the shade. We add fresh water.
Perhaps. It's true that they are skittish, I filmed from a distance.
Well, these are definitely dogs. A family.
Andrea
Well... You surprise me, father.
Adrienne
Sphinxes. They are born... they live beautifully in the reef, as if they were made for it... Even without adaptation. You just release them, and that's it.
Larry
What? There’s nowhere else to go anyway. I tried to leave it in the sea, but then I couldn’t find it.
Joyce
Strange, maybe mermaids...
Tara2761
Someone must have stolen it for no reason, or the guys caught it and threw it somewhere. In any case, it won't be possible to carry them all at once, so it's easier to take a little bit every day and put it in the trough.
Melissa3820
Well, if there are such curious guys there, then what can we do? By the way, Ali and I have a "friend" who also found a "coral" near Alushta... he hid it, and in the morning he came back, and it was gone - stolen... So that's "coral"...
Gregory9432
It's not that they're curious, they just have nothing to do. I pulled out the first small stone, placed it on the wave-cut on the shore, and before I could dive, some kid already threw it back into the water. They're just messing around.
Julie4738
This is how it's done. You take the stones, swim further away, and pile them up. Then, using a compass and landmarks, you mark the spot where you hid them. On the day of departure, you swim back there and take everything. No one will touch them there. It's been tested. And the stones are fresh, not sitting in a basin where the owner kept who knows what.
Shane
It's easier to do nothing, my advice is to rest. What is this stone J.K. (living stones) if there are people on the avenue? Personally, I would refuse such a stone for a dozen reasons. As for the kids scattering them, don't make me laugh; do you lay them near the shore? Why not at a meter depth, and then no one will touch them? And a basin of water is almost rotten or, to put it more clearly, just a wet stone.
Frederick
I hope the basin is not galvanized?
Marie5735
No, of course not. A plastic baby bathtub. The owner didn't use it at all; it was only remembered when I started looking for containers.
Kevin3114
Couldn’t the colleagues set you on the right path right away? You’ve already dealt with something like this, but I haven’t. Well, what’s done is done. So far, there’s no smell except for the smell of the sea. Lesha, there are only a lot of people on the shore and in the shallow water (but less than at the Red Sea), I took the stones much further out. Alright, I’ll come, put them in a separate container with water from the reef, and we’ll wait a week or two. We can always throw them away.
Alejandro
Departure day
Packing the pets begins
Pets:
Sphynx cats (including the kitten) - 5 pcs.
Hermit crabs - 2 pcs.
Crabs - 2 pcs.
The Sphynx cats will travel in a 2-liter bottle with a standalone aerator. I hope they make it.
The question is how to transport the hermit crabs? Should I wrap them in a wet towel and put them in a bag? I will open the bag on the train.
Jacqueline5976
What type of accommodation will you be traveling in? (open carriage/compartment/first class)
Leslie
Replace all the water in the tanks before departure. The aerator should be turned off during transport for no more than 5 minutes due to the heat. The bottle should be tightly wrapped in a towel. The crustaceans should be packed in a damp towel, ensuring that some air can still get in. It is highly desirable to place a small bottle of ice between the fish bottle and the amia. Good luck.
Michelle5859
Dogs were caught by hand or with a net, and where do you plan to keep them?
James8887
Colleagues, could you please advise how to transport mussels? A friend of mine is at the sea and says he found a small stone with mussels. There are 2 options: 1) put the stone in a bottle of water and then in a cooler bag; 2) wrap the stone in a damp cloth and then put it in a bag.
Joseph9203
The first option is to replace 1-2 liters on the road with fresh water, but not hot. The second option is to put it in a bag, but then it should be in a damp cloth with access to air. A bottle with ice is preferable. It's abnormally hot right now.
Jason5071
Seryoga, don't be slow, I've explained everything to you over the phone for about five hours, but I don't know if you understood it at all. I've already heard this phrase from one of my fellow countrymen. We need to do it in a way that doesn't waste and doesn't take more from nature than necessary; it's not a bottomless barrel, and we should only take home what is necessary, not just to throw it away.
Breanna9982
How many times we called each other, you never asked me about how to bring the sea home. And you didn't mention the basin either; I only found out about it yesterday evening, how many days have passed...
Kathy
The heat and the sea clearly disrupt the normal mental process - the brains are getting soft.
Christopher4108
with a large aquarium net, I caught 7 females and only two males (counting today's catch). You can't catch them by hand at all.
Jacob4800
The air conditioning in the train compartment is working fine, so I don't think it will be hot.
Cynthia
This is already "gut"...
Jeffrey6189
Good morning. How did everything arrive?
Anne
A good thought comes after... this is also experience, so on your next trip you'll be forewarned and armed, don't worry, everything is fine.
Nicole7268
One of the two sphinxes didn't make it. It was younger than the one that survived. It couldn't hold on for just 2 more hours. We were traveling in a 1.5-liter container with seaweed and mussels. The temperature in the train was off the charts. I'm angry at myself for forgetting the Tetra bags for transportation in Donetsk.
Jennifer7159
Offtopic Damn, what a pity... I have a polystyrene box 40 by 35 and 30, with a lid, lying around unused. I received fish from Odessa. It arrived in the heat just fine. If I had known, I would have given the box away. Maybe there would have been a better chance of getting it delivered. Especially if I had put a bottle of ice next to it.
Joseph2576
Olya bought a cooler bag for picnics yesterday - it's a good thing, and it has a cold pack.
Daniel132
I just got back from Tarkhankut. I caught one sphinx - I was afraid I wouldn't make it (I forgot my battery-powered compressor at home, and I didn't take a net - I was running around like "Duremar with a scoop") and I didn't catch much. The fish traveled great in a 10-liter bottle with 4 liters of water, and about 20 palemon in a similar container, plus a bunch of hermit crabs in a basin with wet sand, and a whole tub of live rocks (they're structured like pumice and some are from Carolina). The only downside is a bent box on the car, but that's fixable. Overall, so many positive emotions, I swam a lot, saw a lot, and brought back a whole trunk of treasures. It's great that we have the Black Sea.
Crystal
Welcome! And with new acquisitions. At the end of August, I will also try my luck at Tarkhan. Where did you base yourselves, in Olenivka in an apartment, or was the car by the shore while you stayed in a tent? I also encountered live rocks (like pumice) there, which are the Black Sea "premium," so putting them in the aquarium is quite a good idea. I want to ask, did you bring any philodendron? It's just what you need for the aquarium, as there’s so much life, both micro and macro, living on it!
Leslie
You are absolutely right! This is a storeroom for sailors.
Ricardo7341
Photos with Tarha to the studio!!!
Amy1672
I apologize for intruding on your topic. I was standing near the Black Sea, with my car and tent by the sea in the bay. The weather was nice, and there were almost no people (considering it's July). Here is my blue tent and some trophy stones. P.S. Unfortunately, I didn't collect any phyllophoras (I wasn't well-prepared in terms of information for the trip), but something is urging me to go again in September; maybe I'll gather some then.
Laurie3842
Can marine aquarium enthusiasts share some techniques for catching fish? I'm planning to go there by car in a week. I would like to catch a couple of sphinxes and about 10 shrimp. However, my experience in fishing is only for soup, and how to keep the fish if I catch it not before leaving is probably the most unclear thing for me so far.
Daniel4967
What about the content before departure? I can arrange a tank and a compressor from the network. But will they last a week like that? Or should I store them in 5-liter bottles with holes in the sea?
Amy1672
You did a great job, Kvedor Akhvanasievich. It's clear from the photos.
Rodney
The tent has good sail performance (dimensions 6.20*4.50*2.20), so I have to hide behind little hills and bushes whenever possible. The depth throughout the bay is practically 0.5 - 1.5 m, it's like swimming in a big aquarium - you can touch the bottom with your hands and the snorkel is almost always dry, and I have pockets full of hermit crabs. I tracked and chased the hermit crabs with a specially trained dog.
Debra6575
One more question, will this algae grow in the aquarium? (I circled the "new" stones in red, they don't look very different from the "old Indonesian" ones)
Helen
In a marine reef aquarium, Black Sea macrophytes such as Ulva and Phyllophora grow well. Phyllophora (I think it's the one in the blue basin, is it stiff?) can sometimes thrive in cooler temperatures, around 22-24 degrees. I once saw it in a specially designated aquarium where it was producing purple shoots in the dim light; it doesn't like bright light and high temperatures. As far as I understand, salinity doesn't particularly bother it. All other Black Sea macrophytes don't live long in a tropical marine aquarium, in my humble opinion, and cystoseria should categorically not be placed there.
Stefanie9771
In the basin, this same red algae is soft. I found it, Callithamnion corymbosum.
Steven7574
Hi Slavic, congratulations on your great catch, now you'll have more stones!
Angela6489
By the way, while you were on the fishing trips, a small ocean was opened in the caravan of labor heroes. I recommend checking it out!
Rita
100+++
Erica
What unpleasant surprises can there be with Black Sea live rocks (worms, mollusks, nasty isopods, etc.)? And how should one properly acclimate the rock before placing it in an already established aquarium?
Ronald
None, except possibly those hiding in the holes of the rocks. Therefore, it is advisable to check thoroughly for their presence. As for keeping them for a while, there is probably no point, as there is nothing harmful in them and there cannot be. Just place them in the aquarium and that's it. You can rinse them lightly with seawater from the aquarium before planting, and then go ahead.
Richard2180
I have set up an 80-liter aquarium with a pump of 3000 liters per hour. Now I really want to rearrange it tomorrow.
Shelby3182
Yesterday I returned from Tarkhankut, from Olenyevka, and collected about 50 kg of stones and sand for my new 500-liter jar. The stone is not heavy and is partially in Carolina.
Tara2761
Stone and sand are classic. And in photo #1, was it taken as dry, the substrate? Photo 7 is generally "premium."
Mary
Yes, I took some croutons. They are very beautiful and porous. In photo 7, it really is a top-notch stone, and it's not the only one.
Gene1948
Guys, leave me at least a couple of stones for next year.
Mark7376
Andrey, that's enough for your lifetime.
Melissa1838
I'm going to Sevastopol for a vacation today, and I brought with me a standalone aerator, an Aquael Fan3 filter, a container, a 10x10 net, a couple of Tetra bags, and a thermal bag with a couple of ice packs. I might bring something home if I catch anything, of course.
Stephen5857
Hmm, I took the same thing, just without thermal bags. I'm heading to Tarkhankut tonight. In general, I also hope to show off some photos of my "catch" later.
Guy
This is very, very right!!! I used to catch dogs like that.
Alec9378
"Good hunting" (C)(Mowgli)
Antonio
I envy........I envy in a pure way....
Elizabeth1221
Please advise: How to transport hermits? How to transport shrimp? Can oxygen tablets be used during transportation? Can you add fish to a reef aquarium, or will they cause problems there?
Kayla7655
Pavel similarly wanted to bring a bunch of hermit crabs from the sea to the aquarium... but the forum members strongly discouraged him. Well, maybe in SAMP. But in the aquarium itself, it's Jack the Ripper... :O
He transported the hermit crabs from Crimea in a bag for transporting fish... with an air cushion and sand. I didn't prepare them for transport. I bought the hermit crabs from a forum member...
As for the caught sphinxes, he transported them in a 2-liter bottle with a constantly open lid, with sand, mussels, and algae. The result - 1 out of 2 made it....
Kimberly2102
With a group of friends, we visited Dzhangul, located in Tarkhankut, successfully. The visibility was impressive, around 20 meters, and we collected a bit. At a depth of 10 meters, we encountered a school of mullet, the fish were moving for about 10 minutes, and there were a lot of shrimp, flounders, dogfish, and so on. The water temperature was 19°C, and the air temperature was 24°C. The video is being edited.
Jacqueline6670
Envy takes...
Marie5735
This is to finally take...
Danielle9144
You guessed wrong. I'm just not pliable about that.

I love it when a diver has the right equipment. The video is great... though the landscape is a bit dull...
Luis3725
HERO 3, it's probably good, the above video was shot with a 3-sensor Panasonic.

"... on this stands, stands, and will stand the international school of underwater divers Amphora."
Angela
Is the international school planning to move to warmer seas for the winter?
Brent8919
Oh, when will I become a scuba diver?
Probably not in this life.
Shawn
From November 10 to 17, a dive safari in the northern Red Sea, and then we'll see.
Christopher7213
Here is my diving colleague, hydrobiologist, PhD O. Kovtun, who filmed a bit about the fish of the Black Sea and identified five of the most beautiful ones in his opinion.
Meghan
Hello everyone, after visiting the Black Sea, I filmed a bit and asked to post a movie titled "The World of the Black Sea." I diligently edited everything I could, added a little of my own, and wondered, is there life in the Black Sea?
Vanessa
There is ... but little
And already one less mullet
Joshua
Can we discuss it in more detail in private messages?
Patrick4439
Well, actually, that's interesting too...
Judy
Well, did you archaeologists even look at the date of the announcement? That was two years ago.
