600 liters 1700x600x600 Behind the reef, two pumps 5000 l/h and 3000 l/h facing each other. In front of the reef, directed at the front glass at an angle - 3000 l/h Wave maker 15000 l/h This option was born as a result of experiments.

Shelby3182

I have the same size aquarium: 3 San-Sanychs in different corners, each with 5000 l/h.

Joseph

And behind the reef, is there nothing? The length and height of the aquarium are quite decent. In my humble opinion, the operation of pumps behind the reef is the most effective method to prevent the accumulation of detritus there. Various "flutes," diffusers, all of that is not the right case. They quickly get clogged, become overgrown with calcium deposits, and eventually stop working, and extracting them from under or behind the reef is often simply impossible.

I have a transparent aquarium, and the reef is laid out in the middle of the aquarium lengthwise. I made sure that the reef looks beautiful when viewed from the front; it was really difficult to arrange it nicely. I spent hours thinking about where to place each stone.

Derek7322

Yeah, a transparent aquarium is quite challenging, not only to arrange the reef from an artistic perspective but also to ensure that all areas are well-aerated and that the pumps are not too noticeable. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see a schematic of how you set it all up, as such aquariums are not that rare. Please draw a flow diagram; I think it would be interesting.

In my aquarium, dimensions 1700x600x620, there are circulation pumps, SunSun JVP-101, 3000 l/h. Two units are mounted on magnets on the left and right sides in the corners closer to the viewing glass. In the upper left corner against the back wall, there is a circulation pump SunSun JVP-201 6000 l/h directed towards the shaft. From the shaft to the left along the back wall, there is a flow along the bottom with the Atman AT-201, AT-2218, ViaAqua-170B head, 650 l/h, with a large diameter small sponge (protection against living organisms). Off-topic: There are options, check the link.

I wasn't lucky with the San Sanas. I bought 4 of them. In three months: one stopped working, the second spins in the wrong direction when starting, the third started buzzing like a tractor. I've come to the conclusion: to hell with them. Despite the very low price, three months is just not acceptable...

Unfortunately, our brother is not immune to such troubles. Additionally, voltage fluctuations are having an effect. Recently, I had three pumps fail in a row, even though they had worked without issues for 3-4 years prior. Furthermore, there are some comments regarding the hydrovac nozzles (deflectors) on the pumps, which tend to stop rotating quite quickly. Preventive measures do little to help; the device simply refuses to work.

I think another method of creating flow deserves attention, namely directing the flow from the pump along the glass at a slight angle towards the glass. This way, we do not create a direct flow on the corals, but due to the adhesion of the water layers, the entire layer between the glass and the reef moves slowly. Of course, in this case, it is necessary to use a pump that is somewhat more powerful than for direct flow on the corals.

Crystal4879

It deserves attention. This is exactly the optimal solution that ensures the movement of all layers, and if there is a powerful pump, it should not blow directly on the corals, as this is not very favorable for them. I have one pump with a capacity of 700 liters per hour that works in a similar way. The situation here is somewhat different, but the principle is the same: the pump is located at the top, opposite the viewing glass, and the stream hits the glass, creating laminar flow almost along the entire front edge due to the water's adhesion.

Melissa3820

There is such a mode in Vortex.

Maria

Here is the Vortex MP4. It works interestingly.

Jeremy

Could you please explain how you envision this process?

Michelle1505

Instead of the Sansan 5000 l/h, today I installed the Sicce 6000 l/h. The first impression is that it is noticeably quieter than both the Sansan and the Vortec 10 running at maximum power (the same 6000 l/h).

Darrell5975

"Noise effects" can sometimes be bothersome at night. That's why I switch Viber to a constant silent mode at night. This is achieved by disconnecting and reconnecting the plug on the adapter. After this operation, there is no noise, and the device operates with a constant flow of about 600 liters per hour. In the morning, I switch it back and set it to maximum. This is when three wave characteristics are in effect.

Jennifer9100

Sometimes, it is impossible to remove detritus from the aquarium with the current. In such cases, a reliable method comes to the rescue - an enema. We lower it into the water and methodically blow out the areas where it has settled. It is better to turn on the mechanical filter during this operation.

Caroline1599

I'm a bit confused. Which pump are we talking about?

Susan9583

The speech is about the Resun Wave Adjuster with small, medium, and large flow (adjustment on the controller), and there is also a quiet operation function, which I mentioned in point 19.

Nicole2404

Again, it all comes down to the technical feasibility or cost of the solution. Stopping the pumps is not an option - it's unclear who will go in there during the downtime. Does your pump switch to night mode automatically or manually? Can you provide a link to this Resun Wave Adjuster? I know about the Wave Maker, but I can't find yours on Google.

Dawn6148

For me personally, everything is the same in the morning, afternoon, evening, and at night. I see no need to change the night mode, and why should I? There is no noise, and the operation of the mechanical parts doesn't disturb me (I sleep nearby). I like everything.

Michael3221

You are not alone.

Erica

Here about this waver. The minimum translation is done with 3M resistors that are located on the controller, they are clearly visible in the photo. I do not apply any more shutdowns at night, but I agree with the theory regarding the movement of water during the day and night periods. By the way, this theory is thoroughly discussed on pages 149-152 in the book by Ova, Savchuk "Reef Aquarium" and deserves attention, in my opinion.

Lee

I also don't turn anything off, but I have seen twice, once with fungi and another time with Mayan, after the electricity was cut off for several hours, they were throwing out floor products, so it can be interesting sometimes. However, there were no children.

Christopher

Corals definitely do not reproduce in stormy weather; rather, they do so in complete calm at night.

David4968

In my opinion, it's a very important note! If the pump doesn't start, then ......?

Brianna

I apologize, but you didn't close properly.

Teresa

also noticed.
