Greetings, citizens who love marine aquaristics, please share your experiences with keeping mangroves in a marine aquarium. I'm interested in everything, as they say, everyone has something to offer: where they are placed, what substrate is used, lighting, which species, how quickly they grow, their influence on aquarium parameters, the impact of the chemicals used to maintain the necessary parameters of the aquarium, in general, I would appreciate any experience!

look for the discussion on mangroves there (it was actively discussed in 2003-2004), at that time they (mainly red mangrove - Rhizophora mangle) were considered as a way to export derivatives of the nitrogen cycle and phosphates, but there are too many downsides (one of the main ones is that they deplete magnesium) to consider them in this light. as another species for keeping, it is possible if one really wants to, it seems they can be kept.

Good afternoon, is it possible to make the sump longer than the frame (cabinet) for the aquarium, and place them there? However, the noises from the sump will be audible.

Sanya, why don't you visit Knyazev's place? He has had mangroves in the tank for about 5 years, and he could tell you a lot about them...

It won't work for me, there's no space, and redoing the setup would probably end up with a restart (there's a lot of DSB). As an option, for some time, I could grow it at an angle diagonally or even try to extend the branches outside with additional lighting. Or I could create a separate serious mangrove setup outside the tank.
