• Dosage of reef crystals salt

  • Jill9137

Hello, dear marine aquarium enthusiasts! The salt Reef Crystals is quite popular among marine aquarium owners in our market, so I would like to clarify the following question: How many grams per liter of this salt do you use to achieve a salinity of 35 ppt or sg = 1.026? Yesterday, I did another water change... the bucket says 25 kg for 690 liters for a salinity of 1.024. I add 36 grams per liter... and I get a salinity of about 30 ppt or sg = 1.022. I checked the scales... even bought a second one, measured the salinity with a refractometer (previously calibrated with the appropriate liquid), and just in case, I tried to check with an AquaMedic float salinity meter - the readings of both devices were the same. Thank you in advance for your answers.

I pour 3 cups of salt without a heap (a cup is 200 ml) into a bucket that holds salt rift crystal (19-20 liters of water) and get 1.026 - 35. The water temperature is 25. If you have scales, you can calculate it.... Previously, I weighed the Tropic Marin salt, and it was 290 grams in such a cup.

I got 43 grams per liter, salinity 1.026.

I add 37 grams per liter, salinity 1.026, measured with both a float and a refractometer, the result is roughly the same, so what's the deal?! If it were cheap Chinese salt, it would be understandable, but since this salt is far from cheap, why is there such a discrepancy in grams?

Salt can be damp.

Emma

I definitely have dry.

I support with 8-9 liters, pouring in 1 1/2 cups. I get 1,027.

I believe you, dry to the touch, but moisture cannot be 0%.

When I used it, I always added 40g per 1 liter, and everything was fine.

It also turned out to be 40g/liter.
