Has anyone encountered a similar situation? We use Tetra tests for Nitrate, Nitrite, and Phosphate. The aquarium is over a year old, and the tests have always been normal. Overall, the aquarium seems to be doing well - the corals are growing. But recently, all three hermit crabs suddenly died. We returned after a week away, and the only change was that about a liter of water had evaporated, but that has happened before and everything was fine. We did the tests - everything is normal. Out of curiosity, we decided to conduct an experiment - we filled a 3-liter aquarium with about 1 liter of old water, added the dead hermit crabs, a bit of sand, and left it under the table for a week. After a week, we did the tests - everything is normal. Nitrite shows the lowest value, and nitrate is something between 0 and 12 mg/L. Just like always. Could there be something wrong with the tests? Maybe they are expired, although we didn't find an expiration date on the boxes :/ Should we choose some other tests? If so, which ones do you recommend?
