• I will launch

  • Mariah

Good day to all sailors. Today I decided not to wait until they make me a stand and finally pickle, reasoning that when they bring the stand, I will be able to move my mini to a new place without consequences. So far it looks like this: (I've thrown in some filters for now) Tomorrow I'll receive a package with stones

Jennifer7578

Congratulations on the pickling, wishing you smooth and enjoyable sailing!!!

Craig7302

Thank you. I feel that swimming will be really exciting.

Natalie

how many liters? and what kind of light is there?

Aaron580

The nickname corresponds to the character. Let's stop being tricky and lay everything out clearly: volume, salt, light, equipment, plans, and so on. Otherwise, you posted a photo and are keeping people in the dark. I launched a similar mini project 4 days ago - maybe I'll borrow some ideas.

Robert

Tomorrow, or rather today, the stones will arrive for me, and then I will write everything in detail. In short, the aquarium is 36 liters, with tetra salt, lighting 2x24 + LEDs.

Anthony7814

quite so.. for such a small jar! are the LEDs as a "moon" or powerful?

Michael5242

Please show the pebbles.

Nicole

Sailors, can you tell me what kind of creature with stones has come to me? Is it good or evil? P.S. Thank you for the consultation.

Tanya

It seems to be a mantis, take a photo in front. They are not useful, they can be harmful when they are big. However, it's hard to see in the photo.

Heather

Kenneth7331

not always

John5528

Volodya! Congratulations on the launch! Wishing you a successful voyage! It's great that enthusiasts of marine aquaristics are starting to appear in the glorious city of Mykolaiv!

Barbara8192

Thank you. I'm already tired of turning the stones. It doesn't work this way, and it doesn't work that way. And it's a pity for the sheep, there were so many of them, they all went down the toilet.

Russell8484

I set up a 12-liter aquarium next to me and send all the illegal ones there, like aiptasia, various worms... during water changes, I drain water from it, pour in from the main aquarium, and in the main one, I mix fresh water.)))

Charles4157

I didn't think about it somehow. I probably need to build something for myself too. P.S. But I didn't throw away the mantissa, it's a beautiful thing.

Gregory

that's where they belong

Larry

Try to arrange the stones in a way that allows for gluing corals on them later, with a tilt towards the back wall, although I also didn't do everything perfectly. Designing is a bit challenging for me, and try to create a slightly shaded area, in case you want to place a coral that doesn't like strong lighting, like Tubastrea, for example.

Carrie1606

Yes, designing is a tough job, I've been running around the stones for 3 hours and can't find a place for them. I have another resident like this. Some kind of mollusk. Does anyone know its name?

Kevin262

Mydia probably

Stacey4437

NNDDAAA.... The sea is something else, tiny little worms are already crawling on the stones, there's even something like a spider, I might spend the night by the aquarium. There's a bit of a problem with arranging the stones, I just can't seem to set them up properly, so it's like this for now. (the white balance in the photo is slightly off) Tomorrow I'll probably continue with the arrangement.

Alyssa1438

I found an illegal creature in the aquarium and wanted to catch it by hand, but it was too quick. Can you suggest how to catch it? Maybe set up a trap or something else?

John828

Congratulations on the launch! A bunch of feet per keel. Regarding the ov, I also encountered this trouble; I have about three of them, but they are small... it seems like umbrellas attract them (a couple of my small colonies disappeared). There are many traps... you can make a harpoon (or a net), throw bait to the bottom, and wait... better at night with a flashlight... you can cut the neck off a small bottle, turn it upside down in the bottle, submerge it, and put bait inside - maybe it will crawl in... it depends on luck - it didn't help me, but it helped someone else...

Adam4310

Here is what I managed to "create" today. P.S. My mollusk has opened up a bit.

Richard2180

What's the problem? The stones came out nice. And I arranged them (in the photo) quite well. Now I need to suppress my urge to buy everything and only fill it with the most beautiful ones. Call him Arnold.

Leslie

The stones arrived EXCELLENT, a lot of stuff fell out of them, the problem is not with them. When I look at the arranged stones now, it feels like there is very little space for the corals, maybe it's just an illusion. I'll think about it some more, maybe I'll come up with something.

Rachel

It's perfect for the arrangement, especially if you plant LPS, mushrooms, and zoanthids.

Michelle1505

Something strange is happening; occasionally, I hear some clicks. I don't know if it's from the aquarium or from the mantis, as they are standing close to each other. In general, a mantis can make something like clicks, or is there some other creature sitting in my aquarium?

Brandon9634

Agreed. He has already started to slightly open the shutters.

Lori4746

Of course there's no space!!! I have 36 liters over there, 120, I thought it would be a lot - I can't handle it - but I'm already seriously considering 400 liters.

Gabrielle5053

You have the opportunity to raise the interior up, almost to the surface, and there will be more space. How to raise it? Use titanium rods or plastic tubes if available. It's not an easy task, but it is doable.

Courtney4094

Arnold has disappeared. Yesterday he was sitting quietly, and today there is no trace of him. I searched every corner as if he had never been there.

James8887

I also have mussels that periodically appear and disappear, nothing to worry about, they probably crawled into a rock and are sitting there.

Jeremy3637

Can you tell me where to buy a couple of hermits?

Kevin3114

Either with Tkach or with a Although I doubt they will want to bother with sending a couple of hermits ((

John828

Tkach doesn't have it.

Jesse3979

It's close to the sea for you, you could go and catch some fish.)))

Stefanie9771

Yes, there is plenty of that there.

James5032

I will most likely not get to the sea until the beginning of September, but I want to go fishing now.

Katie4842

I will be at A, and if there are any, I will buy them for you and send them by minibus.

Karen81

I would be very grateful.

John3432

By the way, Arnold has been found; he crawled under a little stone and is sitting there quietly.

Vanessa6144

And the bottom still remained 6mm? Please reply...

Susan1358

You are offending... I followed your advice and bought a piece of 6mm glass the size of the bottom on the day of the launch, and placed it under the aquarium. So now I probably don't need to worry about the bottom. I have a question. I don't even know how to describe it, but there are small holes in the stones, and something like little legs or something similar has started to appear from them. It’s clear that these are some kind of filter feeders, and they are trying to catch something in the water. If you understand who I’m talking about, please let me know their exact name. I can't take a photo. I hope I described it clearly.

Brian

Today the water in the aquarium has become much clearer. I hope that in another day or two it will be as clear as a tear.

Omar3497

it might be fan worms

Eric8832

I can't identify this wonder. There are a lot of them. What are they called correctly? (in the middle of the frame, like a broom)

Kenneth2761

Fan worms.

Allison

They are very timid. As soon as you approach the aquarium, they hide.

Wendy8540

I thought about small brittle stars, judging by the description... I also have them in the rocks (they sit in the holes) and are constantly catching something with their arms...

Nicholas5194

How to put it more gently. Stones, water, and sand. There is no life, no waste products, no bacteria, nothing. The Moon. But very soon everything will stir and move, turn brown and red, turn green and sprout. And there will be one tear - of delight and tenderness.

Wendy2244

Of course, the aquarium is currently empty, but after the freshwater setup, it seems to me that life will be bustling there. Sometimes a worm scurries by, sometimes some little creature swims past, and so on. This wasn't the case in the planted tank, and it's something new for me, and importantly, I really enjoy observing all of this.

James8887

Offtopic I walk past a small pet store every day. There is almost nothing for the sea, but there are a few freshwater tanks. Once a month I go in there (I wish I could go more often, but I don't want to traumatize the sellers by not buying anything) and admire the large schools of neon tetras, rasboras, and barbs. An aquarium is life in a parallel world, and the glass partition is a window into this amazing world. Yesterday, a friend told me that in the Bolshie area (Black Sea), two little dolphins came in to spawn with the shrimp. They even caught some mullet there... Such wonders were happening right by the shore.

Alan273

Should I be thinking about the white ksyukha already?? (It's only been 3 days since the launch) I already want to plant something.

Melissa1838

You can basically pulse Ksyukha. The problem is that once you start adding something, it all goes downhill; I think everyone has gone through this. I had some life from the start. But I started with ready water from the aquarium, partially sand from the aquarium, and stones...

Tracy

I understand it's a bit early, but I want to.

Jonathan6173

Plant the hethamorph better. It's not Ksenia, of course, but you'll enjoy it for a couple of weeks, and then you can have Ksenia.

Theresa5149

I would gladly do it, but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere. If you know where I can buy it, please let me know.

Amy9618

It is not for sale. A hetamorph is usually given as a gift or exchanged for beer. Ask your fellow residents from Mykolaiv or Odesa - it's to avoid traveling far (create a topic in the classifieds - someone from the neighbors will definitely respond).

Christopher1252

If you can't find it in Mykolaiv and you're really in a bind, I'll cut mine for you; I was ceremoniously awarded it by Odessa. It seems unreasonable to make a thermobox and so on just because of such a trifle.

Kevin262

By this evening, I started to notice that the stones began to be covered with a brown coating, and the Carolina that arrived on the stones became somewhat pale. Is this the beginning of the aquarium's maturation?

Thomas1044

It has begun. I recommend reducing the lighting.

Sandra7004

Please tell me how many hours to shine, and is there anything else that needs to be done to make this nuisance go away faster?

Spencer7805

Do not add any feed items, especially since there is practically no one to feed there. Illuminate the aquarium only with blue light, no more than 4 hours a day. Monitor the skimmer's operation; it should work efficiently, and do not allow any contamination.

Gabriel

There is another question: how long, on average, does the maturation of an aquarium take?

Melissa2062

From a week to a month. With chemistry and live rocks, the process speeds up significantly.

Elizabeth1221

It depends on the conditions under which this process occurs. It can take a long time, or, under favorable biological conditions, happen almost immediately. For example, a reef aquarium may not go through a maturation stage at all, as maximum attention was initially given to the biological aspects.

Jeremy3637

Well, then we'll wait. I hope the process won't take too long. I was thinking of planting a couple of mushrooms and Ksenia, but it's better to wait to avoid any "complications."

John5528

There is also another side to it. For the aquarium to start properly, it needs a load. But yours is practically sterile. The load can be provided in different ways. Some people throw a dead fish into the aquarium... I prefer to add 1 live fish, a couple of shrimp, hermit crabs, and strombus snails. After the maturation phase is over, I continue to populate it with corals and fish...

Jason

Then I'll bring someone over.

Tina

In smart books, they even mention a specific fish - the black molly.

Darrell7542

The filamentous algae has started to grow. Also, today I noticed an aiptasia, but I'm not sure if that's what it is, as it settled in a hard-to-see place. Can you tell me if there are any animals that feed on filamentous algae? Are hermit crabs indifferent to filamentous algae?

Heather9815

Hermits love to eat thread algae. I had a strand growing over the stones on the glass, and it was so amusing to watch the black sea hermit stand right on the stones to reach it, then tumble down with a crash, shake it off, and crawl back up again.

Laura3615

Moreover, you have Volodya Khimipur charged in the system, and he effectively fights nitrates, phosphates, etc. So a little load won't hurt you, and don't overdo the light; what do you need to illuminate? 4-5 hours of actinic light is just right. When the livestock appears, corals, etc., then you can gradually increase the photoperiod.

Kenneth7331

I did just that, switched to a 4-5 hour daylight. Today, I finally finished the moon, but it seems to be too bright; I probably need to reduce the number of LEDs.

Nicholas

You have a FULL MOON, Volodya.

Jeffrey496

Today the moon won't shine as brightly, I removed some LEDs. I also ordered a different hanging filter, Aquael FZN 2, because Sansanych started to disappoint me.

Elizabeth6302

Can you tell me if this is iptazia (in the middle of the frame)? It's not possible to take a better photo.

Alyssa6727

Take a photo in normal light or with a flash because I can't see anything at all.

Andrew7823

Believe me, brother, recently having gone through an epidemic of this thing in hyper dimensions, light catalyzed the matter. I am a complete non-authority in this matter - I speak from my own experience - nothing will eat the thread, neither hermits, nor dogs, nor strombus (at this stage), you will only kill the animals - turn off the light and wait for maturation. Then everything mentioned above, when it can live in a matured aquarium, will clean it all up.

Beth3383

Volodya, it's impossible to understand anything in the photo, I can't make out the iptazia there, take a photo under white lights. Iptazia looks like this... take a look and draw your conclusions.

Marie5735

Yes, it's her, the nasty one. Tomorrow I'll probably be playing with boiling water.

Noah1632

Then get the wunderkind later, of course, there's no guarantee that they will eat them, but it will be more fun) and you have your first little coral.

Julie4738

I replaced my hanging filter Sansanych with Aquael FZN 2 today. Probably starting next week, I will gradually populate my ocean. For starters, I want to get a Ksyukha and a couple of mushrooms, but I haven't seen them for sale anywhere. If anyone knows where I can buy them, please let me know.

Lauren

There were mushrooms for sale - what do you mean by mushrooms???

Leslie

I can sell you a healthy Ksyukha and I have synularia. I'm removing the softness from the aquarium.

Craig7302

No, it's not necessary. I don't have enough space to turn around in my aquarium as it is, and I'm going to add a big Ksyukha there. I need everything in mini or nano size. I also want to add some Zoanthids.

Karen1649

Dear marine aquarium enthusiasts, could you please tell me if there is a classifier or catalog of worms? I've been trying to classify my creatures for half a day, searched the entire internet, and got nowhere. Is there at least a list of dangerous worms that can damage corals?

Rebecca

Just what I needed. Thanks.

Stephen5857

Question for the experts. My filamentous algae have turned brown, is this good or not?

Jerry

This is amazing - I should be going to... My hair has turned brown and started to braid and fall out - but I had a lot of it.

Jessica6754

Sanya, I have it fine too, there are even little hairs on the soil. But mine isn't long yet, it won't be able to be braided. I hope that the end is near for it.

Marie5735

Comrades who love marine aquaristics, can you tell me what this is? It has started to spread on the rocks. Burgundy in the center of the frame. Is this cyanobacteria??

Kendra2262

No, it's not that - I just asked recently - this is Carolina - who will soon start taking calcium-magnesium from you - but that's even better.

Jeremy3637

Moreover, there are two types - below is also a pink one.

Emily

The pink one was on the stone, and this burgundy one started growing relatively recently. I thought it was cyan. It seemed to me that it doesn't look like a coralline. Today, by the way, I discovered another creature; I can't figure out what it is, maybe someone knows and can tell me. The photo is not great, but you can make out something. In the center of the frame, there's something like a round hole, and something like a tube is coming out of it. I hope I explained it clearly. In the photo, by the way, it is halfway out.

Jasmine

The fan worm must be.

Joseph591

Sanya said that this is a sabellid worm. Oh wow.

James4757

Here is Volodya, how he should be, and you have a beautiful little animal.

Chelsea567

I still have it very tiny, but we will try to raise it.

Gabrielle5053

Don't try, brother - rather, don't get attached to them. I'm already saying goodbye to mine from afar... I'll be taking the Vurdemani (shrimp), and they'll be the first to eat them - like in chess, you have to sacrifice a beautiful pawn. Although it's a pity - oh, they were the first to show us life in the sea...

Breanna9982

I also want to get a shrimp, I just haven't decided which one. In general, by the end of the week, if everything goes well, I will have my first inhabitants, I'm looking forward to it. The only bad thing is that the brown film on the stones doesn't seem to want to go away yet.

Dana6523

Of course, the Black Sea one.

Justin9867

Where can I get it? I won't be at the sea anytime soon. I also want something colorful to please the eye.

Cassandra1840

I like Lysa amboinensis, but I'm afraid their long whiskers won't fit in my tiny aquarium. I enjoyed the video; they are really friendly.

Michelle1505

It's not a fact at all that the wunderkind will sharpen them - I have them living and growing - and nothing...

Dennis

normal doctors) and useful

Carrie1606

Please give me a link to Wunderlist, what kind of creature is it, I'm looking for it and can't find it.

Kevin262

Are there no marshrutkas from Mykolaiv to Iron Port or Bolshevik? In the morning there, in the evening back. You can swim and dive. Take a bigger net. You can also buy some beautiful cooked ones. They sell them there too, and interestingly, they are much cheaper than the live ones.

Matthew

Work doesn't let me go to the iron port.

Robert800

You really have "gold" - let's see what I will get.

Joyce

I can send you their caviar or I will sell it.

Curtis

People, can you tell me what the flow rate should be? Are there any recommendations? For example, for a 100L aquarium, a flow rate of 1000L/h is recommended. I currently have two pumps from internal filters, one with a flow rate of 650L/h and the other with 250L/h. It feels like the flow is too low, especially at the back. If I use one pump to blow on the back wall, the side ends up with very little flow. Should I replace one pump with a more powerful one? P.S. I bought a timer today, and now I wonder how I lived without it before. It's a VERY useful device.

Catherine6534

I have a 120-liter tank with two pumps of 2500 liters per hour... I'm thinking maybe I should replace one with a 4500 liters per hour pump?... but it seems like this is enough... In my opinion, having a gentler current somewhere is good; not all corals like fast currents... it's hard to say if this current is sufficient or not since there are no corals yet...

Rodney

The selection and quantity of pumps should be approached creatively. In the photo, there is an example where there is only ONE pump in a 350-liter aquarium, and it is sufficient.

Leslie

What kind of device is that? Is there a photo of the reef?

Antonio

There is no photo of the reef. This aquarium is not in Kyiv. And the turn signal, I suspect, is from a household fan, in a more aesthetic and convenient casing.

Samuel6138

Creatively, that's 100%. Some corals love strong currents, while others do not. If they are soft, they will start to slowly crawl. My Rodactis moved to another rock in about a month. It just started to climb off the rock and hang in the "air." I moved it to a more convenient rock - it gradually relocated. Discoactinia mushrooms do not like strong currents at all - the cap might even blow away. Also, it should not be forgotten that the current must also bring oxygen, and if the pump is just circulating water in the aquarium, that's not enough.

Patricia

I didn't quite understand the idea. Is a special current needed to enrich water with oxygen? Do the Strim pumps not provide it? As seen in the photo: the pump is right at the water surface, so the mixing of the upper layers of water is also happening. Moreover, in enriching water with oxygen, the foam fractionator plays a bigger role than the pumps.

Joseph8842

Yes, of course, the pen is necessary if it exists. But if not, I believe that this is a small issue.

Chad

I have one of the miniatures where there is no foam and airlift, just a regular compressor that blows through a wooden diffuser. The only downside is that once a week I have to clean the lamp glass from dried splashes. But that takes just 2 minutes.

Brandy1134

Here this rotating thing is for sale.

Vanessa6144

Today I received a package from Bohnenka. But it wasn't without incidents. The bus carrying my "cargo" broke down somewhere and arrived in Mykolaiv with a 4-hour delay, meaning it was on the road for 16 hours. I mentally said goodbye to my corals and almost drowned my sorrows. But upon arriving home, I discovered that everything was fine, and the corals were intact. HOW HAPPY I WAS. Huge thanks to Bohnenka, the packaging is SUPER, the bonuses are great, and overall I am as happy as a clam. I highly recommend it to everyone. P.S. I will post photos later; the camera battery died.

Daniel4967

Offtopic Damn - we have the same carpet - we got it on the 7th.

Amber1273

There is plenty of such goodness in Mykolaiv as well.

Jonathon8514

Earlier, I mentioned that a package arrived for me today. Specifically, it included: 1. Green Brierium, which has started to slowly open up 2. Green Rodactis 3. Blue Anthelia 4. Two Ksyukhas also arrived Additionally, I received two types of water moss. 1. In the second photo, you can see the Ksyukha; it settled there by itself 2. The photo is poor quality, but you can make it out. I haven't arranged anything yet; I just shoved it all into the aquarium. I almost forgot. Today, an injured creature was discovered in the aquarium, specifically a three-legged starfish.

Jason5071

A three-legged disabled person is an asterina... they reproduce like that... I haven't noticed any harm from them, except that they sometimes eat tubipora...

Jessica5016

They also squeeze the clovularies, eating away patches with a penny overnight. The lower ones also nibble, but it's better to control the population of asterins; if there are too many, the clovularies won't fare well.

Barbara8192

The red algae need to be attached to a separate rock and strictly monitored. It has a tendency to cling to everything, including glass. It becomes permanently embedded. I read about the topic of how to GET RID OF Clavularia and Anthelia. This is to say that Briarium, Clavularia, Anthelia, and everything else should be planted on separate rocks. Briarium generally grows as a dense thick carpet and will clog all the pores of live rock, although it looks very beautiful. Similarly, with the Umbrellas, I missed it - they have already moved to the neighboring rock.

Bethany

Isn't it a briarium? I haven't noticed anything like that... Although I have a lot of them...

Alan273

Clovularies, cornularies, briarums, antelies, they are similar, but they are different species...

Richard

I just discovered some eyes in the aquarium, peeking out from a hole in the stone. I can't get a good look; as soon as I get closer, the creature hides. But it seems to resemble a mantis. Now I'm thinking about how to lure it out.

Christina9947

Offtopic with beer

Joseph6461

With fish?? I can say with 100% certainty that I have a mantis living here. I saw it coming out, and it's a quick little bugger. Is it possible to catch it without breaking the rock?? And in general, what harm can it do to my aquarium? There is a lot of information on the internet, but all the data seems contradictory. P.S. The briarium has fully opened.

Erin2730

They are asking for mantises at the flea market... I'll have to catch and send them... a nice gift for the requester - a solution to the problem, after all, it's a shame to destroy them. But there will be no other way. They are dangerous in the reef. They can attack small fish, shrimp, and other small creatures... It's a hassle, but I'll have to remove them and drive out the mantises. Freshwater can be used.

Corey3201

Will all the living creatures in the stone die from fresh water?

Kimberly3727

Vovan - calm down - it was on the second week after the start - I was seeing things - I swear. Just wait - maybe it's not that, it doesn't happen very often with those who came to the J.K. (living stones) (I specifically scanned the forums on this subject).

Anthony

Sanya, I saw that bastard myself. Although, who knows, I'll keep an eye on it.

Stephen5857

People, can you tell me if Ksyukha and Briarium close at night?? My Ksyukha closed, and Briarium started closing too, what's going on?? I keep seeing mantises everywhere, and I think they're nibbling on my corals.

David4089

Everything is fine, mine also close at night.

Rebecca

They close. Then they might open again after the lights are turned off - they might not open, they live by their own "clocks." They can close during the day, they can stay closed for half a day - they also react well to the weather (I'm talking about all corals). P.S. Right now, almost all my Xenia are closed (only one small fluffy one is open), the Goniopora is closed, and the Euphyllia is half open/closed (there's no light).

Natasha

Damn, when the moon turned on, I was amazed, briarium and rodactis fluoresce so cool. I probably need to buy more fluorescent corals.

David3217

I am starting the operation codenamed "MANTIS."

Christina9947

I read and agree that Briareum differs from Clavularia in that the former grows as a continuous carpet, while Clavularia grows in separate strips.

Diana8604

So, the stone where the mantis lived was taken out of the aquarium. At first, I poured water into the hole from which the mantis constantly peeked out, but it was a jerk and didn't want to come out. Then I decided to soak the stone completely, and a bunch of worms and snails came out, but I still didn't see the mantis. Now I've put the stone back in the aquarium, hoping that this creature has died inside the stone. And there's more news. I discovered an ophiuroid.

John3165

Damn, I feel sorry for the worms and bacteria.

Devon107

yeah, but the main thing is for the mantis to die

Richard

if it died and stayed inside, you will have to break the stone, as a dead mantis for your volume of water means a 100% spike in ammonia, so take out the stone and remove the mantis from it

Adrienne

I don't feel like splitting stones.

Michelle5859

Well, if the mantis is dead and the ammonium jumps, you'll put down half a tank, since you don't even have a penny. So I think you'll have to get the mantis out, whether it's alive or dead, anyway.

Ronald

I'm a bit skeptical that he kicked the bucket from osmosis. Vovan, how long did you hold the stone in osmosis???

Julie

About 40 minutes. I will keep an eye out; if that beast shows up again, I will probably start breaking the stone.

Brian

Today my briar rose has definitely fully bloomed.

Melanie

A friendly suggestion - you need to work on the fragments with a toothbrush. If there's any floss, it's best to remove it. Just rub it in a separate container.

Amy9618

There is no filamentous algae on the fragments. Filamentous algae are present on the substrate and glass, as well as on the stones, but on the stones, it is already turning into rags and peeling off. In the photo, the filamentous algae are on the glass.

Angela

Well, then it's fine, it will mature - just strict control over feeding to avoid parameter spikes.

Leah

I won't have fish for now. I don't want to overload the aquarium right away. In a week or two, I want to buy a couple of corals and probably a shrimp, maybe a torch (but I haven't decided for sure). Maybe in a couple of months, I'll get fish, but I'm not sure. Right now, I'm not thinking about fish. The main thing is that after I "cleaned" one of the three rocks, a mini restart doesn't begin, with all its attributes.

Holly

An aquarium without fish is somewhat boring and looks unnatural. Corals grow 1 millimeter per week.

Tasha

What fish, my aquarium is only 2 weeks old. Let it mature a bit more.

Guy

Well, our youth doesn't want to get into theory. What's the point of staring at an empty aquarium? We need to start the nitrogen cycle. Oh...

Alexander

There is plenty to see there. You tell me, how can the sea be boring without fish? There are countless living organisms here, and observing them is quite fun. Maybe if you were to go out on dry bread when there's nothing alive, then yes, but otherwise, I find something new every day. For example, today I discovered: an ophiuroid, a new species of snails (I haven't had these before), worms, and some other creature that I can't get a good look at because it lives in a rock; only its long, thin legs (thinner than hair) are feeling around on the stone. In short, I'm definitely not bored.

Spencer7805

Let's wait a month... At first, no one is bored.

David4089

I'm not in a hurry. Please let me know where I can buy a small fragment of Ricordea; I can't find it for sale anywhere. It's a really cool coral.

Veronica

Well, I don't know which Ricordea you are interested in. I have one with a pink-purple body and green (from zooxanthellae) tentacles. It recently had a small baby, about the size of a kopeck now. Once it grows up, I'll take a photo; it might interest you.

Randy

There are different types of ricordei; which one do you want and what size?

Lisa

I like Ricordea Florida green; if that color is not available, I will consider other options. I need a small fragment.

Alec9378

Today I decided to wash the sponge and replace the synthetic material in my filter. When I took out the sponge, I was shocked to find a lot of worms on it, so I immediately changed my mind about washing it. And finally, my white fish started to pulse; I didn't notice it at first, but when I looked closely, I could clearly see the pulsation. The pink one is still standing still; maybe it's stressed or doesn't like something in my aquarium.

Eric5208

Is there coal in the filter? Ksyukhi don't really like it.

Cassandra1840

Another question has arisen. Sailors, could you tell me if there is a table or a list of corals that are incompatible with each other? Or perhaps there are just recommendations on which corals should not be planted together?

Rachel9060

Here, Vova, read this: it has information about the corals and usually their compatibility is written for each coral.

Bridget

I have San and coal and antifos in the filter, and Ksyusha is growing like crazy...

Michael3221

Please tell me the names of the snails. 1. Next to the closed Ksenia. 2. Almost in the middle of the frame.

Nancy758

Today I launched a small army of algae eaters: 4 hermits, 1 strombus, and 3 snails. They all immediately got to work; the strombus, in particular, acted as if it hadn't been fed for a week, burrowing in right away and starting to destroy the greenery. Also, today I tried for the first time to glue a coral to a rock using gel glue. The operation codenamed "glue" seems to have been successful so far, as it is still holding. P.S. Thank you for your help in acquiring the livestock.

Joseph9203

Did you glue it "live"? The place where you glued it might start to die off, and accordingly, the coral might start to rot. As far as I remember, you can't glue soft corals like that. You can just tie the Ksyukha to a rock, but if you want to glue it, then lower its foot onto the sand and let it stick, and then apply glue to the sand that stuck and to the rock. This way, there won't be direct contact, and Ksyukha will climb onto the rock if it needs to go somewhere.

Monica

Yes, Vova, I also tried to glue the Ksyukhas with gel glue (for a day or two) and they come off. It's better to tie them lightly to the stone with a thread, and then the foot grows to the stone while the thread rots in a week.

Bethany

Last night, PALALO was discovered, and not just for nothing, but for trying to drag Ksyukha into its burrow. This morning I looked, and Ksyukha was practically done for, just a tiny piece left. What does it mean to have bad luck and how to deal with it? First it was the mantis, now it's palolo. How to catch this pest??

John3432

Here, Sanya describes how he fought, try it, maybe you can do it too.

Barbara8192

All the Ksyus were glued with "gel" after the threads that had cut the poor souls' legs. Everyone without exception started and expressed their gratitude with a vigorous spread throughout the aquarium.

Mark7376

By the way, there are two bushes of long-legged ones for "give away" (glued to the gel) - self-pickup from Odessa (only).

Ryan

The operation codenamed "PALALO" was successful. I took out the stone and started pouring fresh water into its lair from the syringe. After 3-4 syringes, this creature began to come out; the rest was a matter of technique and tweezers. I hope I don't have any more of these pests. Here it is, the devourer of my Ksyusha.

Monique1236

Where is that bastard? (s) I don't see the photos (((

Joseph9203

I'm not an expert, but it looks like half a worm.

Joseph591

Why can't you see the photos?

Ryan

The second half can grow into a whole palolo.

Antonio

Well, that's great—congratulations! I did as you said, and everything worked out! It's good that I didn't put the whole stone in osmosis—I managed with local injection.

Cheryl

No, total jerk. I just took the photo like that, my wife was in a hurry to toilet train him.

Michele9664

And thank God. My congratulations.

Michelle13

I can already see everything))) my congratulations on a successful hunt!!!)))

Eric8832

I am as happy as a clam. But this bastard still managed to eat Ksyukha.

Karen

Well, is there at least something left of her?

Selena4467

Which one exactly, the white or the pink ksyukha? If it's the pink one, I'm ready to give away a bush, but I really don't want to deal with shipping...

Rachel9060

Ate the pink Ksyusha almost completely. 100% it won't come back.

Joseph

Offtopic. Yes, yes - similarly with the Ksyuk poisons.

Mitchell3177

One must hope for the best.

Rodney

If there's even a little bit left, I think it will recover; Ksyusha is quite a resilient weed...

Jeremy3637

I think I got off easy. If Ksyusha recovers well, that's great, but if not...

Christine864

As soon as I caught that rascal, my mood lifted. I guess in honor of catching palolo, I need to buy a couple of coral drinks and mark this day in red on the calendar.

Veronica

Don't be upset... there will be more Ksyushas in your life... and other beautiful corals.

Anne4851

I have an elephant in the ground, here is its trunk. Right now, only blue lamps are shining, and the photo turns out blue.

Hannah

Cool elephant. I also want to buy one, but the seller can't name the species, he says it's oceanic.

Elizabeth6302

Oh, how I understand you, congratulations on the successful surgery! I pulled out the palolo myself - you still have a little one... if it had eaten my Ksyusha, I wouldn't have said a word to it, but still, damn it, my favorite umbrellas!!!

James5032

What’s the point of the appearance? A strombus is just a strombus, the shells and the abilities of the alpine species are slightly different, but the essence is the same.

Gene1948

People, please advise how to attach corals to live rocks? There are corals attached simply to small stones, but how do you attach these small stones to the main rocks (live rocks), or do you need to remove the corals from them first?

Christopher3770

Stick a small stone to a big one)))

Jeffrey496

I tried, but it doesn't hold; I even tried gluing it directly in the water.

Angela7060

apply more super glue gel to the small stone and press it firmly against the main live rock - it should stick

Sheila

Odessa, should I clean that spot on the J.K. (living stones) to white where the coral will be glued, or glue it directly onto the coralline?

Rodney7316

Scrape the area where you plan to glue with pliers, then clean it with a stiff toothbrush and glue. This will be secure. And for the coral, glue it - 50x50, so it will hold.

Patricia

Epoxy "Moment", 2-component. For use in water.

Linda

What about the toxicity of Moment glue?

Adam

How to compare them? Both types of corals tolerate the glue well. All the "old-timers" fish adapt normally. The newcomers (poisoned?) ocellaris feel any glue immediately - they spiral out of control and die within 5 minutes.

Michelle13

Recently, I got this cleaner. It handles the brown deposits very well, as you can see in the photo where it has cleaned and where it hasn't. Maybe someone can tell me what kind of snail this is?

Christine

Some kind of turban, most likely a small Trochus maculatus.

Cheryl9296

I stick it right on Carolina.

Laura4892

That's why I only use superglues in cases where I need to attach a broken piece of coral so that it's not visible that it was broken. Or when I need to glue little mushrooms to a specific complex spot, which are grown on a stone the size of a match head. In all other cases, I use coral cement. It doesn't leach toxins into the water, hardens quickly, gets covered with coral rapidly, and you can always break off the fragment along with the base and the coral mantle that has grown on it.

George5104

Odessa, what did Carolina do to you that you stick all sorts of nonsense on her, and with super glue no less? In adulthood, it's called coralina, from the word coral.

Brian

Agreed, it's good. But the price is 120. Now we also need to buy a non-overcooked ocelot, stick three KZ faragas with glue, and check how the fish reacts to it.

Zoe7451

Tell me how you glue the softness, because this is a painful question for me... especially the small pieces without a stone, it's really a problem to glue even a tiny one... or the opposite with the stones, but you can't press down...

Chelsea

I don't have softness. I attach mushrooms and disco-somas (if there is no stone or the stone is very small) with medical needles, using D. Knopp's method; they grow in a week, and then I remove the needles. The needles screw in well in live rocks, hold firmly, and are easy to remove. 190-200 (18 euros for the aquarium, it costs the same in Europe).

Eric8832

What method is that? O.o

Thomas5021

He probably meant this book.

Amber1273

I have the book "Knop," but I don't recall the method there...

Andrew9581

See page 47.

Stephen5841

Please tell me the name of the animal in the video, it appears from 8 to 12 seconds (green with long tentacles).

Dana6523

I read it, but somehow I don't really like this method... poking the mouth of discoactinia, and at the same time he says that the coral itself is not damaged... strange... I usually cover it with a net from above and pin it to the rock... not very pretty, but it feels more humane to me this way.

Amanda5586

Euphilia) one of) I have the same one now (greenish) and before that I had the same one, but gray... there are a lot of different types.

Meghan

This is Euphilia.

Rachel

I really liked her, but I don't know if she will be comfortable in such a small volume as mine. I went to study this issue.

Christopher7213

I got myself one like that, just a different color.

Lori4746

Take a photo. I’m curious to see it.

Loretta5483

In the evening, if I can, I'll take some photos and shoot a fresh video.

Aaron

You can plant 2-3 torch euphorbia, for example, and it will live happily.

Anna9752

I read that Euphyllia are among the most aggressive corals. Their stinging tentacles can extend over 10 cm, carry powerful nematocysts, and possess a strong toxin. Source I wondered if I should take it.

Amy5070

Check out my thread with photos of Euphyllia in 20 liters. It has been living for six months. There is a fish in it. It seems my thread is only 2 pages long and the photos are illustrative, you could say it's a mini guide to a mini reef, but the questions are always the same... It's a shame I wrote the report. I thought it might be useful for some beginners.

Bridget

They are aggressive in nature, but if you place them in an aquarium on a slope in the light part of the tank so that they don't disturb anyone, they can just sit there. Provide them with a separate space. In aquariums, they grow very beautifully; they can also be colorful and in the shape of eggs (they are called Frog Eggs) and in the shape of little hammers at the tips, in various colors.

John3142

Well, in terms of aggressiveness, it's like this: if it reaches the SPS with its tentacles, the area will be wiped out instantly, but Sarcophyton hardly reacts. Euphyllia bends one of its tentacles slightly towards it, and it tilts a bit. If it makes contact, the polyps of the Sarco will retract a little. I haven't noticed any burn marks.

Chad

In the photo is my Resan-400. The volume of the display part is 30-35 liters. The main thing for euphilia in such a volume is that the aquarium should be "established" (not young) and that one should not be lazy to do water changes once a week.

Cynthia

So I'll wait a month or two for everything to settle down a bit.

Thomas

I bought my first euphyllia a month after the launch of Resana. The aquarium looked quite lively at that time. The euphyllia wilted within a day without ever opening up. I chose a rather bushy one, and the transportation took only about 15 minutes. Now this aquarium is about a year old - the euphyllia opened up an hour after planting and has hardly deflated for almost a week.

Leonard

There is a lot to think about. There are many other corals that can be planted right now, and I will focus on them. P.S. A small package is expected to arrive on Sunday.

Tanner

After a month and a half, I bought it - it blooms and smells - but it turns out my regeneration system is very powerful.

Julie

the process has begun..............

Michelle9986

This is not the word I started to think about increasing the volume of my tiny sea by 250 liters.

Bethany

Vovan - at least 300 - otherwise you'll regret later that you didn't go for 500 right away. And at first, I drilled everyone's brains here when I came up with the idea to turn a 120-liter barbus tank into a sea one.

Sheila1322

You are on the right path, comrades!

Judy

Off-topic O........., finally, the sea enthusiast in you is starting to awaken....

Heather9815

Experienced marine aquarium enthusiasts, please advise. Today I noticed that in two places on the live rock, there is something like a web. What could this be? Or do I have some creature that is spinning webs again?

James5103

I'm not experienced, and I've been having this lately, and I have no idea what the hell it is.

Todd

Vermetidae

Jonathon8514

Until the sand settles and the polychaete worms multiply, do not load the aquarium with fish. Fish are food, and there needs to be someone to dispose of the leftover food and guano. Introduce Sinularia and Sarcophyton into the aquarium, let them acclimate, and then add the fish. Also, do not forget about higher algae. Otherwise, cyanobacteria and diatoms will quickly color the aquarium. And do not forget about the quarantine tank. Corals will arrive with planarians and aiptasia on the rocks. Although... First, you need to create difficulties for yourself, and then enjoy the struggle against them.

Jerry

Regarding the quarantine tank, I agree, I just set it up today... I just finished, but that's for my topic. Today, when I was buying the aquarium, I already aimed for 250 liters (I was thinking 400). I figured that my MH would be just enough for 200-250 liters... and the size is just right too...

Amber

Unfortunately, many novice marine aquarists not only forget about this but are sometimes even surprised by its necessity. Until a certain point in time... A quarantine tank is essential, and not just when you have to set it up in a frantic rush because something has gone wrong, but simultaneously with the installation of the main aquarium.

George5104

This is all about me.

Courtney

But now, look at this quarantine! Better late than never...

Chad

I wasn't thinking about the quarantine at all. Now I guess I should make about 10 liters just in case. Or better yet, 50!

Charles4157

Is 10 liters enough? And how long should the quarantine period last? I have 10 liters with a cooler and aiptasia, but it seems like it will be too little for quarantining the fish.

Derek7322

In 12 liters of pure volume, I currently have an Ocellaris being treated.

Eric5208

Comrades who love marine aquaristics, explain to the clueless. 1. I started with 5 hours of light, adding 1 hour each week. (On Monday, it will be 8 hours), and with this, my first question is how long should the light actually be on? 12 hours?? 2. In my nano tank, first, brown algae appeared (they are gone), then filamentous algae started (they are almost gone too), what should I expect next?? Cyanobacteria?? Or is it not a given that they will appear and the main troubles of the startup are over?? Or maybe I am missing something???

Scott8536

Vovan - I searched for the truth about this for a long time. Yes - 12 hours. But with the condition, all the dust from the lamps is 8 hours - 2 hours at dawn and 2 hours at sunset - so it adds up to 12. In theory, yes. I started to have spots - I gave the dust to the flocculator and will attach a tap for the fish to "eat" - maybe it will work out.

Adam4310

Well, if the aquarium is in the basement, then there might be some sense in sunsets and sunrises. But in the room, the sun first peeks through the curtains, then through the windows when the curtains are opened, so the sunrise is redundant because it's already there. The same goes for the sunset. The light in the aquarium has turned off, but it's still on in the room. That's the sunset.

Mariah

Well, my aquarium is the last one to go to sleep, because in the evening it's really nice to sit nearby and explore all the nooks and crannies with a flashlight.

Rita

Outside, I took a drag from a cigarette, a glowing ember visible through the window - and there's the moon... "Sunrise" and "sunset" are conditional terms in this case - for example, in my room where the sea is, the overhead light is only turned on in emergencies, like when the golden curtain has rolled away somewhere... and the windows have thick blinds - the room faces south. And the light from the actinics cannot replace the light that is in the room, and this is like a "sunset."

Jesse3979

this is not the moon, this is the North Star

Ronald5720

Today I received a package from Valera (Bohnenka), a mushroom arrived for me, a Ricordea Florida, and as a bonus, I got another mushroom. P.S. Slowly but surely, new inhabitants are appearing in the aquarium.

Tracy

the process has started.....................and this makes me very happy

Christopher3770

I guess the rickory is with a 1 kopeck coin) I can't see them at all.

Angela6489

If everything goes well, it will grow. But after today's emergency with my aquarium, I'm afraid it won't be anytime soon. P.S. KEEP THE SEA AWAY FROM CHILDREN (not a joke)

Alan273

What happened?

Kenneth7331

In short: my snails were "VERY HUNGRY" and they were accordingly decided to be fed, so they poured an enormous amount of Serebryakov's flakes into them.

Nicholas2252

Probably, it only remains to siphon off the extra muck, and everything will be fine if done in time?

Barbara

vacuum and replace

Amber1273

Yes... there are disappointments in life... the main thing is if there are living creatures in the basin - don't forget the flow... I would probably change the water... at least half of it...

Anthony7814

Mmm... I love children - but I would talk to this boy's mother.

Andrea8397

Sanya, do you think I didn't talk? I did. After our conversation, she said she wouldn't come over anymore.

John1464

It seems like it was a heart-to-heart conversation...

Angela

Well, that's right, let him not go - it will be calmer for you - that some "Chief of the Redskins" won't sprinkle insecticide in the aquarium - just out of curiosity.

Jeffrey2277

I read that many use FLEXOPLAST Hi-Gear for securing corals. Do any of our sailors use FLEXOPLAST Hi-Gear? I would like to hear reviews.

Mary

I bought it first from the list of glues - it's complete garbage - first of all, it's a fiery blue color and in water, the adhesion is "zero."

Dennis

And I read a lot that he is super-duper.

Alan273

Many sellers unsubscribe under the guise of amateur aquarists.

Thomas1044

Note for yourself 2 types of adhesive for coral bonding: 1. Zyukhtovsky cement 2. Gel super glue like "Moment" Don't bother with the others - apart from the inflated price for the brand, there's nothing special there.

Kathleen

If it's not too much trouble, please send me the link to it or write its exact title.

Steven757

I'm sorry, but it seems that the text you provided is empty. Please provide the text you would like me to translate.

Cassandra1840

The question has arisen. Is it possible to feed the strombus and snails with something?

Julie

In my opinion, there is no point, as there is always something edible on the rocks and in the sand.

Laura4892

There used to be filamentous algae and brown coating, but now there is neither. They ate everything. Now I just hope they don't resort to cannibalism out of hunger.

Tracy4603

throw a handful of caulerpa into their aquarium

Karen

People, what's going on?? My snail is releasing smoke. What is this, or is it dying??

Karen

Maybe it's reproducing)))

David4089

No, it won't die. It's just an adult specimen that emits smoke, the nature of which can be interpreted in different ways. It is healthy and vigorous, there is no reason for concern, as long as the system can handle this smoke. It will smoke and then stop. (Perhaps this is an element of readiness for mating). Look up information about this creature on Google, just make sure to spell the name correctly.

Tricia7885

Here is this miracle The whole aquarium is cloudy, the murk in the aquarium is quite strong right now. Maybe I should do a small water change?? Although I already replaced 7 liters this morning as planned.

Phyllis

Wow!!! What a wonder. Great video, everything is very clear. Vovan for the video. For sure, it seems to be multiplying (probably).

Ryan1989

Sanya, I also found it funny at first, but now I don't know what to do. The aquarium is cloudy, and she keeps smoking and smoking.

Susan

Off-topic. Maybe she overate something and now she's bloated. At first, my caulerpa spoiled the water too, it was a terrible mess, but after a couple of hours everything recovered... maybe it will clear up quickly from the snail's waste too.

Frederick

How much of this "smoke" can there be in it, or does it produce it online?

Mitchell3177

Put the coal, well...

Alicia5489

Well, if you're ready to reproduce, it seems like a lot of desire has accumulated, since it's "smoking" like that. In general, just put a little coal in the filter and everything will be fine.

Michael5242

The fire has already gone out, the aquarium is slowly clearing up.

Christopher7213

My Stomatella snails reproduced like this. They did it in pairs and simultaneously. They would stand on their tails, puff up like frogs, and start spawning. Only the male would spawn, while the female released tiny eggs. After a while, the entire aquarium was filled with small Stomatellas.

John3187

Offtopic Lucky guy. Now they probably scraped the riff like they do with the cobblestones in Moscow before the parade...

Laura3615

Off-topic. Not at all. I launched a couple of Black Sea shrimp, and all that remains from Stomatell are good memories and shells. They tore apart and ate them all!

Spencer7805

From the bastards ... Thanks for the info, otherwise my stomatellas are multiplying like on a farm, holding my breath I'm very happy about it.

Chelsea

don't let the goblin in, it devoured everyone at once...

James4757

I think your Black Sea shrimp can't compare to my shrimp-tor in eating stomatels.

Ross

Krevedko, he is krevedko even in Africa... here you have to choose, either they or stomatellas... By the way, there's something else I want to say. I have a fish with serious signs of wild madness. It chases those Lissemys amboinensis, bites off their whiskers, in short, it doesn't let them pass. And it's impossible to catch it. Very cunning, not fish-like at all...

Kevin3579

Offtopic Temporarily seat the angler

John5528

I would agree to that, as long as he wasn't there. It's called Pseudocrenilabrus philander. That bastard killed my hexatene back in the day...

Adrienne

Offtopic Something is not visible in the dam... Did they feed it with flakes again in the absence of presence?

Jeffery7866

Anatoly, everything is fine. It's just that work is such a hassle right now that when I get home, I go straight to bed. I just need to hold on for one more week, and then I will resume my story about the tiny Nikolaev Sea.

Eric8832

Welcome back (congratulations to myself) I changed my workplace, and as a result, I catastrophically lack time. Basically, my sea remains unchanged, there are some losses, but it's a minor issue, a package is arriving on Wednesday-Thursday. I've decided for myself that if you're leaving, it's better to trust automation rather than people, I URGENTLY NEED AUTO REFILL. Please advise which one to take........... Just as long as it's reliable.

Alec9378

Welcome back!!!))) Where are the new photos? Auto refills are not always reliable, trust but verify.

Lisa

Well, the auto-refill can also let you down, and very badly... I made a tap and a drip system from a 5-liter bottle for myself... that's it) But for my volume, it's complete nonsense, it's easier to refill it myself)

Bethany

Take your time - today during the day I will post the photos of the auto-refill that I did myself - I was tired of brands and fish streets - the cost for one sensor is 90. For two, it's 120. Average hands that are not from "the ass" will replicate it and even do a similar job better. Everything can be done in one evening.

Christopher1252

I congratulate myself on returning to the forum.........
