You haven't gotten bored of me, have you? Well, I'm back again. I feel like I have the right to settle in here, and I really hope for your advice and criticism. Briefly, what has been done in this budget140-liter barb tank - in a 300-liter budget marine aquarium, but with a sump. The dimensions are 1200x500x600. The cabinet, frameless, I made myself from Beech furniture boards. The cabinet is on wheels - if you drain the water from the aquarium and the sump, you can roll it to another location. I also glued the overflow and all the pipes myself. The lighting is 6 x 54 - T5. The protein skimmer is from Vital with my own modifications. Dry reef rocks = 10 kg. Live rocks = 10 kg. "Sera" salt. I salted it a week ago - the live rocks were

John1464

Another vertical divider in the middle of the cabinet would be helpful (after all, it's more reliable).

Patricia1746

I provided explanations - it's not needed in my case, and the metal frame is not needed either - I'm anticipating the bayan and harmonium and 4 legs, not 6.

Amber9312

330 liters of water + soil + other = over 400 kg, a partition is still needed in the middle, it will be more comfortable to sleep!

Joshua

Finally!!! Congratulations! I have a couple of questions: 1. Are the circulation pumps sufficient for such a volume? 2. What lamps do you have in the fixture (brands, models)? 3. What are the current water parameters (pH, kH, density, nitrogen)? 4. Noise level? Maybe it's time to post a video with sound? ;-) I personally gave up on a sump back in the day because of the noise... So you started with live rock! Well done! Happy swimming!!!

Joseph591

Try to make something like this for the drain under the bag. I liked the inexpensive salt "Tetra".

James1625

With the move and justification in the new thread.

Yolanda

Guys, please teach me how to properly adjust the lighting at my start??? The fixture has 6 T5 bulbs, 54 watts each. - The first group is white and coral (blue), I set the timer to turn on at 8:30 and off at 23:30. - The second group has two blue ones, I set it to turn on at 12:00 and off at 19:00. - The third group has two blue ones - I have no idea what to set and how it should be. Please teach me - huh?!

Barbara8192

1. two blue 2. blue and white 3. two white the first one burns the most, the others connect gradually with an interval (who knows, maybe an hour). they turn off in reverse order. p.s. it turns out something like dawn-sunset.

Lori4746

Could you provide more details about what changes are being made and why?

Nicholas

Oh!!! Who just launched? Congratulations on the launch! Oleg, my samp was noisy for exactly 2 weeks, now you can't hear it. And not everyone has an aquarium in their bedroom.

Gabrielle5053

Congratulations on the launch. I liked the legs of the nightstand. I wrote in a private message. I also wanted to ask the experts if it's possible to place SeaChem Purigen in such a bag or if it's not advisable?

John1464

I finished the furniture legs by gluing on plastic ones and added a muffler with adjustable air intake.

Frank7213

Guys!!! On Saturday it will be a week since I set up the 10 kg live rocks - visually, I can only see a couple of white threads, probably some kind of filamentous algae, and the live rocks have started to turn green in some places in clumps - should I be observing something else? Nothing has crawled or swum out of the rocks - no ick or anything like that. And what light schedule should I follow at this stage??? Out of 6 lamps, I only turn on four - what’s the right way to do it??? P.S. Sanya, if you come here, please answer the question - I saw a bunch of timers on the "Reef" that Tanya said all broke down - are they from the Epicenter "Experts"??? I bought three of those.

Anthony7814

I set the time a bit too long for a start. Group 1: 2 blues from 9:00 to 21:00 Group 2: 1 white + 1 blue from 9:30 to 20:30 (here, actinics should have been set) Group 3: 2 whites from 12:00 to 18:00 Well, at least it's something. In about six months, we can increase the time by 1 hour.

James8887

Thank you - I will switch it today.

Heather9815

Today I decided to at least arrange the stones somehow - I ended up stirring up a bunch of muck and did nothing. I don't understand how you display them so beautifully???!!! At least I closed the cabinets and took the timers out to the balcony.

Danielle

To set something up, you need about 30 more kilograms, and then you can start constructing.

Kevin8087

It's clear to me that I'm starting to arrange things and the water turns into milk - I can't see anything.

Troy8808

Have you tried turning off the pumps?

Debra

Oh, of course! The Chukchi figured out how to turn them off. Guys, will 40 kg of stone be enough for my 300 liters in total??? Right now I have 10 dry reef stones and 10 live stones.

Selena4467

Depending on how you pack it, there are lightweight porous stones and there are cobblestones. No one can advise you here. It's not about the weight, but about how it will all look.

Emily

Aha-aaa - I'm just looking for information on whether there is a proportion of stones by volume to the volume of water in the aquarium - like maintaining a bio-balance. As for me personally - I don't like a lot of stones - I prefer a minimum - I'm a minimalist by nature.

Joe

If the width of the aquarium allowed it, there would be no need to build mountains, but since there is nowhere to place the creatures, we have to either build mountains or shape trees out of stones. I liked the size at the Center of Aquaristics, about 2000x2000x600; that's a different matter.

Marie5735

I also struggle with arranging the stones, my volume is actually 10 times smaller... but still, I also spent a long time figuring it out, as you said... and regarding the timer, I have the same one, it has been working fine for a year, sometimes you just need to adjust the clock, otherwise it starts turning off and on at the wrong times...

Rachel9060

The process has started... congratulations! Ksyusha has attached herself to the stone... you can come and pick her up.

Mark

Aaaa!!!!!????? Do you think I can be trusted with a living being already??? Isn't it too early????

Jennifer7578

"An umbrella like that of a dill," what a comparison, I would have never thought of it... Apparently, the stars aligned correctly at some point, leading me to become a fan of marine aquaristics...

Lee

Well, "Dill" is already living, what else is needed... and they are on par with Ksyukha in terms of difficulty 1:1. So go ahead...

Brooke3987

Friends, here's the thing - there is an opportunity to get 10 kg of live rocks. I want to add them, like not changing the hand with them for live rocks, it turned out to be light - and Igor says that there are definitely two munecas left, he is checking how much they weigh now - the next shipment is on April 28. So the question is - what useful things like strombus can I get from them along with the live rocks??? They don't have strombus. Maybe some other types of snails or oysters??? So that I can clearly ask Igor if they have it or not???

Laura3615

Although I'm not an expert, I didn't see any good live rocks in the photo. It's better to use dry reef rocks than such "live rocks."

Jeffrey6189

What criteria for live rocks should be visible in the photo?

Anthony

With my experience, I can't say anything specific yet. But this is definitely not "JK".... at best, it's S.R.K. (dry reef stones).

Erin

If Sasha has found any creatures in these stones, then it must be J.K. (living stones).

Veronica

The photos are certainly unclear, but in the last close-up, it's quite clearly J.K. (living rocks). And the fan worms from S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) usually don't come out.

Nicole263

You can't scare me like that - I'm mental. I got it from A, it arrived in a "branded" box from Jakarta and in a thermal box like J.K. (live rocks). Here is S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) - in the foreground is a piece of J.K. (live rocks) and in the back-right are the same J.K. (live rocks) - as you can see, there are two big differences: Well, the fish for 200 bucks didn't come out of there - but the rocks were covered and all new worms are coming out - that's what I can see visually.

Scott9892

Sanya, don't listen to anyone. In a couple of weeks, your aquarium will be teeming with a sea of little critters (and that's just the visible ones).

Crystal4879

Guys, I swear, I thought I was dead - they are alive - even a fool like me saw it - just a photographer from me... I wanted to take a picture of the worm - but it didn't work out - well, at least humanity invented digital, otherwise it would have ended up on film.

Susan

If possible, take some live rocks (J.K.) - the setup will go faster and there will be places to attach corals in the future.

Patricia

You just have small blue photos, and the stones are mixed, so sometimes it's hard to tell from the photos. There are no strombus, astrea, trochus, or babylonia (these are snails) there either. You can take a sea urchin (either globe or diadem - both will fit your volume), and you can also take an ophiuroid from A to avoid hassle on the road. You can wait for a new shipment and get some wheel stones, but then you might have to deal with A and other illegals. P.S. You need to get fish from A.

John3432

Another 9.8 kg of live rocks. I will pay tomorrow - Igor just called - everything is burning, we scraped it all - three big stones came out to 9800 grams - I asked him about useful invertebrates for the start - none - so I won't bother - Igor said he will sprinkle you some dazdrapermas (claupermas). In total, there will be almost 20 kg of live rocks and 10 kg of dry reef rocks for 300 liters. Tomorrow I'm going to (Good Soul) - he is giving me a Ksyusha.

James4757

kaulipery plant Ksyusha separately, she takes over everything - choose a standalone stone and put her there I can also give you Ksyusha, but a different type - the regular one

Wesley

... I say - dazdrapermy If you can - then go ahead.

Anna9752

Take a bag, a rubber band (a few) for the money and come by today, otherwise I just have nowhere to pack. Off-topic: tomorrow after lunch I will go to Epicenter for laminate.

Ricky9405

Did you not mess up with the zeros???

Katherine

this is weight, not price

Jeffery

It turned out to be much simpler. And I was about to get upset, sorry, I messed up.

Andrea8397

Offtopic We found "Propeller" - 9800

Heather9815

Sanya, you better tell me how your Dyurso is working.

Katherine

It works like a charm. I want to upgrade it to a siphon automatic - then it will be completely silent, but for now, the water just gurgles when it overflows through the grate.

Andrea6761

I found such a photo - what do you think, is it a photo edit or how can such relief be created??? I really liked it.

Lee425

You can also do it this way. The main thing is to build it so that there is always a gap of a few centimeters between the stones and the glass. Don't lean on the glass. You'll appreciate the advantages of this arrangement over time. IMHO. The sand will be leveled by the worms.

Amanda

Here, take a look at the L.K. (living stones), I think it will be interesting to read and see.

Tonya

Off-topic Those who are in constant search are destined for success... if you suffer long enough, something will come out of it... the road will be mastered by the walking... or simply put - well done...

Jason9385

Offtopic He will share this with the Comrades - it's easier to walk the well-trodden path and make fewer mistakes - I figured it out myself - so I shared it - stop the drums - everything genius is simple.

Justin

the foundation of marine aquaristics....

Amanda

If this principle is used, then the design of the overflow itself can (or should?) be made simpler:

Heather9815

Offtopic Not everyone is able to understand Bernoulli's Law and some have never even heard of it, but they are well-versed in biochemical issues or simply have a lot of experience. However, they write on the logo that pipes need to be narrowed—this has helped someone, but how it works is irrelevant. Information should be shared—teaching is not something everyone can do or wants to do, but informing is sacred!!!

Christine

It is undoubtedly necessary... What are we here for... And if a sailor blindly follows instructions and doesn't want to think or do anything, then that's already parasitism. (By the way, this doesn't concern you). I wouldn't even want to talk about it, but I know many examples where people were led to "marine expanses" by the hand, prepped like geese before roasting, and then they showed complete incompetence, messed everything up, and even worse—started to criticize marine aquaristics. I already mentioned this in one of the topics... In our city, there are two such idiot orthodontists. I don't even want to talk about them—it's too much honor.

Jennifer5784

Off-topic I agree - One hundred percent - in every field or direction, there are such specimens.

Kellie

It is easy to check if the return pump is adjustable. Reduce the return and see if the drain will gurgle or not. ....................... In general, I would create a separate topic on the principles of how Durso and similar systems work. For now, it seems to me that he is indeed right.

Kevin3579

This is understandable, but it can be done simply and WITHOUT Durso. This is not clear. I disagree with this. No matter how long this nozzle is, with a drain pipe diameter of, say, 5 mm, and a supply pipe of 1/2", the aquarium will quickly overflow. Regardless of the length of the nozzle, water will only flow into the sump when its level in the shaft (pocket) rises above the lower edge of the horizontal pipe that passes through the aquarium wall.

Jeremy8404

I read about the principles of Durso. Hmm... It turns out that the key is in reducing the diameter of the pipe. That is, Durso works on the principle of a funnel. In a larger diameter pipe, water flows down the walls, while in a smaller (lower) pipe, it flows through the entire cross-section of the pipe. The air valve and all those nozzles - bends to Durso seem to have no relation at all. It's a pity I can't find a link to the scientific description of Durso (damn Abrau-Durso) everything is cluttered.

Anna9752

Here’s a brief explanation: - I drilled just one hole in the right place, which allowed me to quickly, clearly, and 100% siphon the system in case of a pump start-stop situation. - By completely shutting off the air supply from the top, I achieved an automatic, silent siphon with minimal air bubble in the sump. - The level in the standpipe is adjusted by the pump's flow rate into the aquarium and the overflow into the sump - the level in the standpipe fluctuates due to voltage spikes in the network and is 10 cm. - this is the working length of my "spout."

Barbara

The system in the diagram will siphon itself without any holes as soon as the water level in the pocket drops to the specified level. It can be guaranteed 100% that the water in the aquarium will NEVER fall below the specified level.

Wesley

I apologize, but everything written above is nonsense. The length of the nozzle does not affect anything at all, absolutely. Read about Stockman; the principle is the same, there is no nozzle at all. With a properly adjusted Durso, the water level in the standpipe is constant. Even if the overflow sucks in some air, a few bubbles in the sump do not affect anything either.

Amanda5586

I have separated all three existing systems.

Andrew4194

I read about Hofer, and there is no nozzle there either - don't worry if you don't understand about the nozzle - it's just a level regulator with a certain range - other types work the same way - but due to the depth of immersion relative to the surface mirror - don't worry, it's just the laws of physics...

Leah

First of all, I'm not worried, unlike you, I've done more than one overflow. - What does that have to do with it? I studied physics not only in school. Explain to me, the idiot, how the length of the Durso pipe can affect anything???? (or better draw it for clarity) If the overflow occurs through the top of the pipe and is regulated by its length? Until the water reaches the upper section of the pipe, it can't flow anywhere in principle...

Selena4467

No! The main function of the Durso is to DE-SYphon the system DURING operation. Until you understand this, nothing else can be explained to you. And about the length of the nozzle too... The nozzle is needed ONLY for silent water delivery into the hole in the glass. In a DE-SYPHONED system, it does not affect the water level in any way. For you, it is different because you have a regular siphon - from the water level in the pocket to the hole at the bottom. The Durso has no siphon. And if everything works, then thank God! That's settled.

Lindsey3362

Listen and read carefully what Yarik wrote. It's impossible to explain anything to you if you don't want to understand it yourself... In a Durso, water flows by gravity! And a siphon sucks water... Do you feel the difference? If the overflow is set up correctly, the level in the standpipe is CONSTANT. Don't reinvent the wheel; what you have is not a Durso. P.S. I sincerely sympathize with your neighbors.

William

In Dyurso, there should be no "leakages" in principle. I repeat for the last time, Dyurso - THIS IS NOT A SIPHON! The water level in the pocket can only fluctuate from the LOWER EDGE OF THE HOLE IN THE GLASS (when the pump is off)! That's it! It should never drop below that! The upper level depends on the power of the feeding pump (up to overflowing from the aquarium).

Charles5941

Nonsense. The water simply flows through the bulkhead fitting. At no point in its operation is the Durso a siphon. I agree! Anti-Durso works. However, I have doubts about its reliability... Essentially, the siphon is currently operating at its maximum flow capacity - otherwise, it would just suck all the water out of the pocket. Do you agree? And this means that even a small change in the supply-drain balance will lead either to "gurgling" or to the overflow of the tank. This is why people came up with the Durso to avoid such problems...

John

Understand that when a person you are helping navigate a winding path in the forest (because you know it well and you like the person) suddenly, almost at the end of the journey when the clearing is in sight, jumps off the path and, despite your pleas, rushes into a minefield (he might get lucky and reach his goal faster), mixed feelings arise...

Charles894

Yarik - Buddy - I publicly said and thanked you for helping me a lot, and I made the "glass" exactly according to your advice - I didn't change anything - I just drilled a hole, didn't remove the faucet or the plug - I changed the principle and I like it more - so what can I say??? I'm just an innovator by nature - I tried all the options and went the opposite way, and it worked for me... well, go ahead and kill me for that... I don't want to open the little faucet on the Durso - try it yourself, you might like it...

Andrea6761

I have about 10 in Samp, let it live.

Kevin8087

Did you pour sand in the samp??? I have a desire for that - like a micro DSB.

Daniel4967

I sprinkled it, but the layer is not thick. I have something like J.K. (live rocks) and S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), and a macroalgae.

Brian7092

I also have an algae tank - even with algae already - I'm going to add some sand there too - it's deep (the compartment) so I'll add about 10 centimeters.

Andrea9320

And how are you going to populate it? What if everything dies there? Just do it like in an aquarium, 3 cm, and don't stress yourself out. It's a hassle.

Danielle

Sanya - I was joking - I have about 3-4 centimeters left, and from the remaining sand, by the way, I poured quite a lot into the aquarium - in some places under the rocks it's all 8-10 cm - but there's nowhere less than 3 cm. I dealt with the bubble in the glass at a low water level - at the upper levels everything is fine. I didn't manage to put the grid in the sump with the algae eater on the pump - and yesterday I collected some algae, and it... clogs the pump, the level drops, and also Igor sent a couple of algae with live rocks - one is red, I don't know what it's called - I'll sort out the overflows in the sump and take a photo.

Phyllis

My wife demanded fish today - she really demanded them - a Clownfish and a Yellowtail Chromis were bought. I don't know if it's too early or not - but they were purchased and released - it wasn't in my plans, but that's how it turned out. The Chromis immediately darted into the rocks and is not visible - I suspect we won't see her often at all, while the Clownfish has wedged its nose into the corner and doesn't want to swim anywhere else. Igor informed me today that along with the live rocks, he sent Zoanthids and Discosomas.

Mark7376

Chryziptera will definitely return; once it gets used to the new environment, you will see it all the time.

Veronica

Congratulations! The Chrysaptera will be in the spotlight, so don't worry about her. However, the Clown might get stuck in the corner of the aquarium for a long time... by the way, a couple wouldn't hurt him...

Michael5242

Thank you guys - you calmed me down about the chrysapher! Tomorrow we will catch a clown or a clowness, or just a fish - whoever we catch, in general.

Brandon4517

Which clown are we talking about?

Brandon4517

They will figure it out with the gender themselves. They should have taken two clowns at once, otherwise this one will get used to it and might start bothering the second one "during landing" tomorrow. By the way, probably ocellaris, the others are rare in Odessa.

Shawn

About this - Percula Clownfish

Dana6523

Will one of them change their gender?

Amber9312

Yes, but where did you find that percula? Maybe it's actually ocellaris? Percula is about twice as expensive.

Larry9400

Sanya, don't whistle - I still won't believe it. I found something from Misha - here's what I have in photos - I didn't ask Anya if it's Perkula or not - I determined it by the photos. Take a look - is this Perkula??? Offtopic: The fish already has a name - Grisha.

Jessica6754

Well, why not. Let's say gender transition is a widely known phenomenon.

Brent5588

Damn... I really thought you were joking. Off-topic. I'm a fool in this area, just general knowledge - I'm mostly into engineering. P.S. My Anti-Dyurso has been working for two days without my intervention - the power went out at night - the auto-siphon worked perfectly - the level in the shaft fluctuates +/- 1 cm - the grass from the algae tank is clogging the pump - I didn't put a grid in.

Chris

So, Oscillaris - I stand corrected, I'm not an expert at all. Thanks a lot for the explanation regarding gender transition - the deeper you go into the sea, the more interesting it becomes.

Barbara

OCELLARIS. Remember, it's important to write terms correctly, this is very important for future work.

Joseph2576

I won't whistle. Is there already marine life available in Aqualife? Before, it was only by order. Most likely, it's ocellaris.

Michelle13

In the mini tank, Clownfish swim with OCELLARIS. They bought a yellow-tailed one. Only Misha knows why he won't launch the "showcase" sea by himself.

John3432

I read about it, but I've never actually seen it. There's always just a couple, the rest get filtered out...

Devon107

I personally saw 10-15 of them in a half-meter Magnifica. In the Oman Sea. Here it is: (photo from the internet)

James3382

Well, here it is for your judgment. The sump type - I set up a grid from a seaweed tank and pushed bubbles into the pump; the level in the pump compartment drops - well, and naturally, there are no more bubbles, so you might as well put another partition made of acrylic. The pump runs at full power, which is about 1800 l/h with a display volume of 300 l - maybe that's too much, should I reduce the flow??? In general, friends - my sump turned out to be ridiculously bad. The first compartment is some kind of parody - a gigantic volume and a drilling platform in the form of a skimmer. Should I redo it??? What do you think? Or should I upgrade something, or will it hold up like this??? Thank you,

George5104

Look at the diagrams of other samples. If there is space in the first compartment, you can make a pre-filter or something else.

Devon107

Aqualife reseller buys from other resellers)) for 50 bucks, clowns)))

James1625

What are you talking about??? I bought the second one today for 207 - actually, after ordering the aquarium and sump from them, they gave me a discount card - otherwise, it cost 220 - definitely not 50 USD.

Tami

At my level of evolution, I don't like the air in the pump, but I know one way to overcome it - to make a partition out of acrylic.

Tracy

About three months ago, they quoted prices at 50 UAH. In any case, Ocellaris should cost 160. And the wheels are generally priced at 100.

Jasmine

Chrysiptera can build new residents quite well later on.

Michael

Remove the comb between the compartments, and in the pump compartment, replace the comb with a 2-3 cm strip for smooth water flow. Refer to the illustration.

Crystal4879

Then set up auto-refill, and all problems will go away.

Jonathan6173

who designed the samp?

Mark7376

I wanted to write right away that auto-refill is not currently in the plans. Well, who is the great genius of crap and fertilizers - I myself... well... designed it - posted it for discussion - no advice was given.

Cheyenne2747

buy the car wash from Vitalik for a low price

Elizabeth1221

It's not about being "inexpensive," it's that it won't fit in the cabinet, and putting a canister next to it would look high-tech.

Melissa3200

you'll still put it in, you'll get tired of refilling

Breanna9982

Everything has its time - I still have a mountain of "brilliant" ideas generated during my sailing adventures, and I will try them all out. For now, I need to solve this small local problem - today I will be figuring things out (just don't call me a wise guy - okay?!)

Robert800

It's true that you'll get tired, and even if you take a week off, life will still make demands.

Caitlin3279

Off-topic We have a private house - four cats in the house, an Alabai dog, and now there's also the Sea - if my wife and I go somewhere, there will definitely be someone at home.

Debra

I sympathize. I have the same issue; I just can't leave and go away.

Omar3497

I have gathered some photos of samps for myself and I'm sharing the best ones (in my opinion). Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got them from (they were intended for personal use), so I apologize in advance to the authors for the "pirate publication." I promise to find the sources and update the post. ........... The third photo is published with the courtesy of .... (I don't know what they will say).

Kyle

Can you send me the full-size version of scheme No. 3 to my email???? I have a lot of the fancy ones with "miracle mud," but I can't see the sizes on the third scheme - it's too small for my eyes. Thanks in advance!!!!

Melissa3820

The sizes here are individual; the main meaning should be clear.

Jeffrey2277

The drawing is displayed in maximum sizes. I can't make out everything either. Call / write to me.

Lisa

I am interested in the height and the level of overflow.

Patrick4439

At the bottom, the gap is 2 cm everywhere. The difference at the top is the same. Absolute dimensions should be calculated based on the area of the aquarium, the difference in water heights with the pump on/off, and the volume of the sump.

Keith7534

If you have CORELDRAW, I will send the drawing.

Jesse

Corel can export to a drawing.

Adrienne

I just didn't feel like it. Here's the scheme and the photo of what I got.

Frederick

this is an oscillaris it seems

Scott9892

Well, here’s what happened. I want to jump to him, maybe I’ll find a couple of flat S.R.C. (dry reef stones).

Charles4157

Well, it turned out fine. Just add some stones gradually and everything will be good. You’ll climb there less and everything will be okay!

James

I made this thing - an additional partition against the air. Before it was like this: With it, it's like this - but still, with such a drop, microbubbles are getting into the pump anyway - maybe I should add another partition made of acrylic??? Or put something between the acrylic and the glass??? Dry reef rocks, for example???

Michelle9986

Hang the sponge so that the water can drain off it.

Brianna

raise the level in the return chamber, add a couple of liters of water - there won't be a big drop and there will be fewer bubbles. the partitions should have been tilted a bit by the way, did you "suction" the pump to the bottom with suction cups??? is it not humming?

Natasha7622

I don't really know how to do this. Sanya... well, obviously, it doesn't bubble at a "full" level. My task is to "not bubble" at a low level. Well, yes, it has suction - but how else would it work - it would just bounce along the bottom. This pump is completely silent - the aerator is louder - but every day it gets quieter and quieter.

Steven

Why? If you make it level, it will drop a couple of centimeters when evaporating - this won't lead to a large number of bubbles either. Well, if you want to accomplish your task, tilt the partition so that the water flows down it instead of creating a waterfall. Usually, when you "suction," they hum and vibrate, you need silicone feet.

Elizabeth1221

You won't solve this problem with small angles - I've tried - and using large angles doesn't make sense because there's not enough space. From my experiments, I've understood that only a proper separator (a labyrinth) can address this issue. Sanya - while there's still time - install labyrinths in your setup - these slopes are a pain - well, if you're circulating all the fuel oil - if you're circulating two volumes per hour and have an aquarium of 100-150 liters, then maybe the slopes will help. Maybe... Nothing is humming for me.

Chelsea

Offtopic, but I had no issues with the slopes, and the height of the barrier is lower for me, so the level in the return will be almost like in the second one, maybe 1-2 cm lower; the slopes are all taken care of. I had problems with the pump noise, which is why the overhead overflow is still not installed.

Omar3497

You're going the wrong way - I have exactly a 1 cm difference in level, and the slope can be completely ignored - it's just that in the compartment where the pump is, the level sometimes drops more than 10 cm if there's no auto-refill.

Dana4701

When water evaporates, the density gradually increases, followed by a sharp decrease during automatic refilling. Such fluctuations are not good for the livestock.

Alejandro

I'm all in there where you have a drop of 1-2 cm (that's between section 1 and 2), what's there? A bunch of bubbles too? Unlikely And what is your section size? How much is 10 cm in liters? Do you rarely top it off? What is the current evaporation rate? Then set up auto top-off, otherwise in summer it will evaporate much faster and you'll just burn out the pump with such a frequent top-off. Off-topic: my evaporation rate is currently 1-2 liters per day, I top off 3 times a day, or maybe two. In summer, I was getting 4-6 liters per day with a propeller without air conditioning - that's the volume of my return section, even a bit more - so I need to top off a maximum evaporation of about 2 liters to avoid burning out the pump.

Charles

I don't have a top-up system. Today I added about 4 liters - raised the level in that disputed section with the bulbs - something is going into the foam - but there is only half a liter there for now. I just took off the bag to wash it with the syntipon - the level has dropped by a centimeter.

Joshua

Brothers, admonish the greedy one. At the behest of my wife, I had to take two clowns and two chrysalises - I just found a dog, Solaris - to take him so that he would start mowing the grass - isn't it too early? I'm wondering???? It's been the third week since I laid the live stones. Or is it better to gather some brittle stars and more strombus (I have four)?

Amy5468

If the lower ones haven't sprouted yet, the hungry gobies will be wandering around, and so will the strombus. What do they have to eat right now? All these animals feel fine in more or less established aquariums, while yours is still completely new. Don't rush, you'll have time. Well, planting 2-3 small ophiuroids is still acceptable. Many beginners make this mistake, grabbing whatever comes to hand when the aquarium is still nothing special, and then they ask what to do when they die?....

Anthony7814

I don't want "what's under my arm" anymore. Right now, I'm concerned about the maturation and usefulness for the balance of the "participants" in the aquarium. The stones have grown over like this - that's what made me think about the Dog, and then I thought I could do worse - so I asked. The sand has turned from brown to green - or rather, it's turning green. For some reason, the Strombus are sitting on the stones - not in/on the sand, and they seem to be constantly eating something. So, the Dog won't save me from the green stones??? And what about the Ophiuroids??? I read that they feed on all sorts of junk - they might be just right for me??? A couple of them??? Or three???

Christopher4108

30x6x12=2160 currency units. Hmm...

Amy9618

I understand everything!!! Thank you!!! Now I've calmed down - I will buy the tests instead... Can I or should I get the brittle stars??? Oh, well...

Heather6148

Seryoga, there is a minimum limit. It's 25kg x 100l. But... a turnip is no sweeter than a radish... ...Step by step... And everything will be "ablemacht"...

Robin

It is possible, it is already possible..

Leah

At 100 currency units per month, it will take a couple of years.

Andrea8397

Off-topic, yes, it's nonsense. 30kg/100 liters will just be rocks in the aquarium, and the price will be like that of an airplane wing. In reality, it turns out to be about half that amount, and it's fine. By the way, according to which instructions was half shell rock used instead of live rock (J.K.) and calculated as 30kg/100 liters? Why so much? I currently have 10kg/100 liters, which is certainly little, but to stuff three times more... I don't understand such instructions. For 100 liters, 600 baku just for the rocks - throw such instructions in the trash. Naturally.

Reginald5073

It may not be 100, but less. There is also the concept of specific weight of live rock. Some have a larger volume but a lower weight, while others are the opposite. Here, it is more important to focus on the visual volume of the aquarium, and it should be based on the amount of live rock, which should be more than a quarter.

William

The instruction is not from a flashlight. Open the book "Rifovy Aquarium," and you will find it there. Go to my profile; there is a general view of the aquarium, and the amount of live rocks approximately corresponds to what is being discussed.

Ross

Off-topic, yes, I read both her and the article on the logo, and I saw the photos - but I wrote that I personally don't like such "piles" - it's just that this style doesn't suit me, I like trees, and there is less weight than a quarter of the volume.

Amy5070

I appreciate your sincere desire to help with your experience, but you really scared us with Sergey; he ended up with a hundred a month for six months, gradually with the stones, and he still needs to buy an air conditioner. And I got really sad - from the last post until now - I was rearranging the stones, my back won't straighten out, the membranes between my fingers have started to grow, but I managed to arrange them. While this was happening, I analyzed everything you said - if I follow this, I will have space left for two strombus shells. I laid out 30 kg - tightly, as much as possible, and... and... tomorrow I'll take a photo.

Kellie

stop washing your hands in the aquarium frequent rearranging of stones is not good

Aaron580

I hope this rearrangement lasts a long time. I started washing the glass - there was a residue from the murkiness after the first installation, and I realized the entire structure's instability.

Kimberly

The KH was measured with a JBL test. Water temperature +25 Salinity 1.025 dKH = 9 Aquarium age 10 days. KH is like KH that I see in many cases - what does this mean in my case??? Is everything okay??? What other conclusions can be drawn from this indicator???

Lindsey3362

It won't last long - in a few months, the urge will strike, and there will be a new rearrangement in the aquarium.

James3382

Thank you for your support - I value support from above - in the sense of your advice from professionals like you - I take this seriously and with gratitude, but I can do it my way, I'm stubborn like a ram when I don't understand the logical chain or technical feasibility. I messed up Dürso and it seems they got offended at me - saying I went off the rails - but actually, it works just fine - everything is normal, the lights go out and the voltage fluctuates, and "it keeps spinning."

Allison

It's quite possible - I might still gain another 10 kg. I will probably add J.K. (living stones).

Cassandra1840

The final result is important in the marine aquarium. If it matches the set goal in all aspects, one can modestly celebrate victory.

Kevin8087

Frequent rearrangements of live rocks are undesirable. Over time, depending on lighting and currents, "microbiotopes" of algae, bacteria, and other microorganisms form on them, specifically adapted to these factors. When you change their arrangement, it often leads to the death of these "microbiotopes," accompanied by the release of organic matter with all the consequences. Additionally, the main function of live rocks deteriorates for a time.

James4342

I also took the main part of the live rocks and water from A. In a month, there were already euphyllia and calendra in the aquarium. So the idyll is still hidden in the clean live rocks.

Danielle8118

This is how we read scary stories on the Internet... and then we no longer believe our own eyes. According to the theory, my aquarium has already died twice, while in yours, nothing can be planted at all )))) And here, surprise - the water is perfect, and everything is alive and growing! How it happens! Rejoice! ))))))

Courtney

Offtopic from Oleg - I am Sanya for Good People. Just like in "Nasha Rasha" - "I’m scared, I’m Slava" - I have a rule - the law of conservation of trouble states that where everything is good, something bad must inevitably come out, usually it comes out from behind.

Jeffery

Firstly, the most important tests are missing - nitrite and ammonium! This is where the mistake can arise. Secondly, with quality live rock and a low load, everything can be fine.

James4757

So, the tests can be said to be perfect - I don't believe in such well-being: Why? A good stone solves it. The aquarium has been properly started. I would have already introduced soft corals, strombus snails, and shrimp in 2 weeks, and by a month I would have tried adding fish. The fact that the tests are good is certainly great, but the issue with an immature system is not this - these tests can change twice a day.

Jeffrey496

Don't worry! I also did an express launch))) Already a week after the launch, there were living creatures... BUT, I took a working sea, into which I added live rocks and live sand... so I got both some nastiness and some useful things... Now I'm going to start the battle with valonia and aiptasia... arrrr!

Christine864

I read that they are uprooting the grove, and I wonder if I should remove it right away??? It's a pity, but I'm not very sure it's valuable - just two little green buds on a stone. The thing is, Igor sent it along with J.K. (living stones) separately - maybe it's something valuable?

Christine

Heh)))) When I first visited the store, they also wanted to sell it to me )))))) It can actually be quite nice, and I haven't noticed any harm from it (I even have umbrellas sitting on it), BUT you have to be careful; if you crush it, it multiplies like crazy... And I don't really like it anyway... So I intend to get rid of it, as it disrupts my marine feng shui) As for the Helomona, I won't take it now; I forgot that I have a big red fan worm) and Helomona love them... So there will only be 2-3 Wunder Manni pieces...

Susan1358

Don't tempt fate! Remove these "valuable" little things while you still have access. One of mine came with coral and caused a lot of trouble... The coral is fragmented.

Jennifer

Oh! Did it bother the coral? I'll clean it up soon or buy a blue surgeon fish.

Jacqueline5976

She didn't just interfere, she completely drowned him out... the coral didn't grow. We have a hipatus and a yellow zebra, and they don't eat this stuff; maybe someone else will... I don't know...

Christina9947

Friends - take a look please. - what is this???

Brooke3987

it

Tanner

That's it! For now, there are few of them: take a stone from the sea, and carefully cut or tweeze them off the stone... if you crush them in the sea, it won't be very good... but this way you might stop them right away...

Charles5941

She is on a small separate stone. Or maybe define it in the samp, but there he doesn't live her, it won't click and the spores will fly??? Well, it's a pity... Or should it be definitely eliminated???

Michele

Well, how can I put it... they don't seem to harm me for now, but I will remove them. I just gave you my example above... it's just that if they multiply (and they grow like weeds), it will be very difficult to get rid of them later...

Brent5588

Guys, I found this little snail today - it is literally able to gnaw on rocks??? In many places, the upper layer of the live rocks has been eaten down to a pink-red color. When I was trying to catch it, I could barely detach it - it held on tightly. I also noticed one with a white shell - I couldn't catch it - it was also grinding something against the rock and putting it in its mouth - could it be??? Or is there something else that can eat the upper layer of the rocks? The overall situation hasn't changed - all the sand is covered in green vegetation - by the way, it forms some kind of gas bubbles - in short, the aquarium is constantly bubbling.

Adam

unlikely to help

Alexandra

There is a condition called lymphocystosis. It looks similar. But it could also be a fungal infection or a bacterial one. Regarding frostbite, it's doubtful. What you rushed into is true. The sediment from the influx of fresh water hasn't settled yet, and you already put fish in there. Without quarantine, without treatment. At least install UV.

James1625

I have it clearly planned - I'll have to activate the afterburner - will 18 watts be enough for my 300 liters?

Wanda666

Enough.

Robin

- ordering - right now.

Karen

I ordered a UV - but 9W - 18 is too much for 300 liters. I would gladly do it - but I don't know how the forum's policy will react to this - editing my posts feels a bit uncivilized. Off-topic: Didn't get the joke? I deal with this every day - it's just my nature and my head is thick, but I'm persistent.

Emily3506

If you ordered Chinese, then 9W is not enough; if it's something like Aquamedica or higher, then it might be sufficient. P.S. Lev Mironov often advises not to buy UV lamps under 36W - I don't know why.

Scott9892

It's certainly not frostbite, but thermal shock and, as a consequence, a deterioration of immunity is a certainty. In the future, it's better to thaw and drain the black broth—there will be fewer phosphates. P.S. No need to edit the topic.

Susan1358

Maybe it will help... who knows the inhabitants of the sea depths) Today I cleaned one stone from Volonya... barely managed to scrub it... good that I at least got the stone... and I treated the aiptasia a bit with lemon juice... so far they haven't come out) but a bunch of small ones appeared... the Wundermani are waiting for me (Helmona is on hold for now - I have a big red worm)

Carrie1606

Don't be sad, maybe you didn't get completely healthy fish... I have corals that I planted a week after starting, and they are all alive... and the fish are even more resilient.

Mario

monkey - monkey!

Stacy6866

I see you just appeared on the forum and have already been rude in all the threads. Since you like to show off, use your own brain, read some literature, and don't bother the forum members with your cheap nonsense about a 30-liter aquarium.

Randy

In this device, everything depends on the bulb inside. 36 watts, and it doesn't matter what the volume is??? It sounds a bit strange - UV is a treacherous thing; you can get so much exposure that the cats will go bald.

Joshua3019

You shouldn't look at the turned-on lamp, or you'll end up like Chuck (not seeing anything for a week and putting on gadgets).

Stuart

Off-topic In my youth, when I was learning to work with my hands, I couldn't understand why you shouldn't look at the arc of the electric welder and why there was a command "eyes" - well, due to my curious mind, I looked for about two minutes - then I spent three days at home like a mole.

Ryan

Personally to you! Don't be rude in the topics. You've already shown off your grammar and intelligence, given your age, behave more modestly. I will clean up the spam in your thread.

Luis3725

If you ordered Chinese, then 9W is not enough; if it's something like Aquamedica or higher, then it might be sufficient. By the way, Lev Mironov often advises not to buy UV lamps under 36W - I don't know why. Sasha, because in theory (there's no practice) 36W kills crypt, while 6-9W, etc., can only stop bacteria. By the way, my 6W UV cleaned the bacteria in 2 days.

Daniel4967

How did you check that you cleaned it?

Mary

When the water is like milk, and two days after turning on the UV, it is crystal clear. I think this is the test.

Dana6523

Hmm... knock on wood, but it seems I don't need UV for now))) So, only small things are floating around. By the way, besides "milk," are there any other indicators? Because opinions on UV vary widely—whether it's needed or not... Is it harmful or does it bring more benefits?

Frederick

What harm does it cause?

Rachael

I don't know either; I've read that it supposedly kills beneficial microbes as well... I don't know how true that is, which is why I'm asking... It's no coincidence that many only turn it on once or twice a month...

Mike

I bought a 36W UV sterilizer to deal with the stray crypto... But I never used it, as it was already too late to fight the crypto, and I didn't want to set up such a powerful sterilizer and remove all the microorganisms that the corals might be feeding on. I read that even corals feed on stray organisms, and since it was too late to save the fish, I decided not to deprive the corals of their food.

Mark7376

Bacteria and microorganisms mainly lead a "sedentary" lifestyle and will not be affected by UV. However, "drifters" will definitely be eliminated. Many people turn it on for a couple of days after introducing new fish or invertebrates, as it is unknown what might be brought in with them. This practice usually proves to be justified.

John3187

Off-topic. Sanya, if you don't believe me, listen to what other marine aquarium enthusiasts are saying: Turbik, MGL, Max, Starcomputer... Otherwise, it seems you've been listening to sellers and such, and now you've drawn conclusions about UV that just don't make sense... (and this is what you advise beginners...)

Lauren

Tolya, I am not a sailor.

Tracey

We once discussed it here and decided that someone who has gone through a good training in freshwater and then sets their sights on the sea is 50% a sailor. The main thing is not to deviate from the intended goal.

Joe

You completely confused me - I ordered a 9W. Jebo-Ketai - all UV consists of one lamp and a bulb - the lamp can be replaced. The thing is, either irradiate with higher power and turn it off, or use lower power but keep it running constantly - I got 9W because that’s how much money I had on my card, and I listen to Anatoly - he said UV, so I rushed to get it quickly.

Christopher7213

The fish is healthy and well-kept; I think this is a consequence of Sasha's very young aquarium.

Heather2018

I think UV is definitely needed, especially if the aquarium is fish or mixed reef. My hippo tang was getting 3-4 spots a day, and each time in different places. I started using UV for 2-3 days, and everything is fine now, absolutely clean to this day.

Diana8604

9 watts is not enough. That's the whole confusion.

Laura3673

So, here it is: 1. The work of the UV sterilizer should be considered effective when treating cryptosporidium at 100,000 microwatts per second per cm². And with cryptosporidium, you still have everything ahead of you... 2. When destroying bacterial and fungal infections, free-floating forms of oodinium require at least 35,000 microwatts per second per cm² of contact surface. You also have everything ahead of you, but some things are already there... 3. The recommended power of the UV sterilizer is at least 4.5 watts for every 100 liters of water in the treated aquarium. 4. Your aquarium is 300 liters (without the sump, am I right?) Well, calculate in your mind the total volume with the sump; what power of UV do you need? 5. Correct, it will be around 18 watts...

Ricky9405

I am in no way arguing or disputing, but I will go to the aquarium to see what is available in 18 watts. But, come on, with constant use of UV and a circulation of 6 times the volume per hour, a lamp that is half as powerful will do the same thing as 18 watts, but over a longer period. I think all bacterial forms won't be able to reproduce at that rate, right? Will the 18-watt UV work continuously for my volume or with some periodicity? Or only when necessary? I checked the aquarium.

Nicole2404

Under a weak sun, you can sunbathe for a month without getting burned. Under a strong sun, you'll get burned in half an hour. It's the same here. There are Atmans at 18 watts. The downside is the flimsy pipes at the inlet and outlet. In freshwater, I replaced them with metal, but that won't work in the sea.

Melanie

I would simply refrain from buying fish susceptible to crypt. Hepatus, Japonicus, White-breasted, etc. should preferably be placed in an established reef. There is a belief that UV is not needed in a well-established reef aquarium, as crypt is consumed by corals. After the white-breasted, it is well known how untrue this is... And there is plenty of information about how many fish have died from crypt in good reefs. It is advisable to turn on the UV at least a week before introducing new fish.

Robert800

Thank you, guys, for guiding me on the right path - I reordered the Atman 18W.

John3432

Sanya, that's a smart move! Having a reserve is always a good idea.

Caitlin3279

Under the weak sun - the most resilient and if we say "healthy" - then a healthy tan. I'll come up with something for sure, I have a lot of good ideas.

Nancy

Guys, I'm starting to panic - half of the bottom where the sand is covered with "greenery" and it's sprouting, big bubbles the size of peas are coming out of it - there are plenty of threads on the rocks, soon I'll start scraping it off with my hands, after a day there's a green film on the glass and threads. Should I patiently wait or take action??? Every day I discover new creatures - I found a small strombus today (well, at least it looks like one) - feather worms are multiplying, blooming, and smelling, I caught a glimpse of some caterpillar on the rocks - it quickly ran away - what do you say??? Is everything going according to plan or is something off???

Tina

Everything is going according to plan. Wait it out. The system is stabilizing. Have you measured nitrite and ammonium?

Tanya

There's nothing to do - experienced people said that if you know nitrate, then nitrite is not needed, and ammonium is needed just once - later when it's normal, they don't measure it. I probably need to buy it.

John1464

Ammonium is indeed measured... when my fish died from the crypto, and I couldn't catch one, the ammonium spiked to 0.3. I think it's still better to have a test on hand.

Sandra7004

Got it - I'll buy it - urgently!!! Friends - where can I read about crypto - I'm digging through search - some nonsense is coming up.

Danielle9144

Sanya, reduce the lighting a bit; I think it will slightly decrease the growth of the lower plants. For example, I have an aquarium in the process of maturation, but to be honest, I haven't seen any filamentous algae... thank GOD! A green film on the glass in just one day is too much; reduce the light period.

Joseph8842

Ammonia - nitrite bacteria - nitrite - nitrate bacteria - nitrate. With a low number of bacteria, the cycle works poorly, and there is a significant amount of ammonia in the water, which is toxic to fish. At the same time, when ammonia dissolves in water, the following reaction occurs: NH3 + H+ = NH4+

Darrell7542

I am from school in chemistry - a fool of the heavenly king - I just don't understand it, no matter how hard I try - it's probably not given by nature...

Lee425

Buy hermits, but only very small ones (large ones often cause trouble), otherwise it's still too early for blennies and foxes.

Aaron580

I haven't come across a better description than this... short and clear. There, his "dog died" because of stirring up the substrate. And it seems like mine did too... San, my personal advice - if there are crypts in the aquarium, under no circumstances should you stir up the sand at the bottom!!! It will cover the fish in an instant.

Marie5735

Rearranging the stones there. This is crap, this crypt!

Wanda666

The crypto has already been discussed here. Read it! ESPECIALLY my post #15. There is a link to an article that does not deny Morshnev's opinion but significantly complements the overall picture.

Alicia5489

Odessa: How did Hepatus get covered? (I bought one today)

Katie5500

What is the meaning of the atman at 18 from the jebo at 18, besides the price? Here on the forum, these jebo cost either 360 or 380. As for healthy fish, have you been around for a while? There is crypt, I've been dealing with it for the second week, I got a yellow one covered in it, I treated it, but the white-breasted one isn't working out. But that's a personal issue for everyone, whether to buy or not. I just said not to neglect this matter; chrysurus is not such a difficult fish that it gets sick immediately in a new aquarium. Moreover, there are usually no cysts in a new one; they can only be brought in with the fish. When I got the white-breasted one, there were already two clowns, and at the time of introducing the zebra with the crypt, there wasn't a single spot on it; there was simply no way for them to appear at first.

Jeffrey

How will your crypto reach the clowns if the chrysipter doesn't have crypto? No, the sterilizer on return is quick with your pump; you either need to install a T-joint on the drain and a tap (just a drain and sterilizer) or connect another small pump separately to the sterilizer.

Diana8604

The optimal option is if the UV is not connected to another device and works autonomously. It's more convenient that way.

Wesley

What is that then? Sanya flows into one pipe and flows out of another - that is, the speed and volume of the supply equals the speed and volume of the drain. I need to read the manual from the UV if it’s there - if anything, I’ll press the pump - it’s still a mystery - what is the optimal amount of volume that should circulate per hour??? OV talks about 3 - I have 6. And less water heats up from the extra pump.

Brandy1134

Post a photo of your lips, preferably clickable and of normal size. As for UV, many have it set up like this - nothing is equal there; with UV, you take as much as needed, controlled by a valve. Why would you touch the pump if everything is set up? Haven't you played with the Durso siphon in a while?

Ross

Does the water from a 600L pump heat the water?

Dennis

That's what I'm saying... a 12W pump, 600L. In such a volume, it can heat...

William1830

The hydor is 4.5 watts.

Heather2018

I prefer the first one that came to hand - Aleas, and for Hydor - 4.5W, there's nothing to comment on, such a pump will never heat the water in normal operating mode.

Melissa3820

It's easier to buy a pump for 100 than to start inventing and crafting something. If you want, you take it out; if you want, you put it back. Well, maybe you have a lot of free time. What does a light bulb in the apartment have to do with it? Air and water are different. Air heats up faster, while water cools down. For example, motorcycles—compare air cooling and water cooling. Put in twenty of those pumps; they won't heat up. But it's your business, really.

Tanya

Guys, why are you arguing? The UV lamp itself will heat the water incomparably more than that poor water pump circulating through the UV sterilizer. In general, the fire is unlikely to be much stronger if you throw a toothpick in there.

Kathryn514

Off-topic Cool said...... Everything is right. Let's not persuade him....

Lisa

In the morning, I discovered that 3-5 spots of crypt appeared on different parts of the hipatus. By evening, they seemed to have disappeared. The next morning, the same thing happened. I think another possibility is that he hadn't found a place to sleep at first, which caused him stress. This continued for 3-4 days, then he found a place where he started to sleep regularly, and I turned on the UV lamp. The next morning, there were no crypts at all, and to this day, not a single spot has appeared. The UV is turned off.

Jesse3979

I've read a lot about crypto, and now I'm looking for where to buy UV... I'll try to do it as soon as possible... so I can sleep more peacefully... For now, my Hepatus is spot-free (knock on wood), I've had it for 2 weeks, it races with the clownfish against the current and eats so much that you can hear it cracking its cheeks even outside the aquarium..!

David

It's also absolutely logical. But why the pump if it's already flowing by itself? Okay, that's already details. We need to check the UV first; I can't see anything from the photo. It might make sense to install the pump if the UV will work intermittently, then of course a pump is needed. - Why is it turned off??? I probably won't find out about the UV any other way - should it be turned on periodically in case of "trouble" or constantly?

James4757

I turn on the UV a week before introducing new fish or corals, and after adding new fish, the UV runs for about 1-2 weeks. Then I turn it off and observe the fish; if I don't notice any signs of crypto, I don't turn it on again.

Karen

Thank you - now the picture is becoming clearer. And constant use of UV, as I understand it, is not recommended - I read that the water becomes significantly clearer - but probably UV is expensive and kills beneficial bacteria? So it doesn't make sense to create a permanent UV mounting-connection - since it's for temporary use - it would be easier to install a low-power pump or consider how to arrange a temporary UV connection on-site - for example, plan a tee with a plug.

Joseph1346

and you are doing the right thing! this is a very reliable scheme! Better only quarantine in a spacious isolation tank.

Melanie

Well... since there is no stamped paper, we will write on plain paper.

Chad

You can try it this way too.

James4342

What power are you using for the UV light?

John828

Offtopic, I poured all my fish straight from the bags into the aquarium - everyone except for the wonder fish, I transferred her, but I still don't understand why. However, I think I'll buy a sterilizer "just in case."

Christopher1252

And it's a big mistake, Sanya! Not only can the water in which the fish is wrapped contain germs ranging from planarians to various parasites, but this water may also have medications that shouldn't be poured into the reef! Not everyone treats fish before selling them, but still.

Earl

Beneficial bacteria settle on the substrates, while only useless ones float in the water. In all aquariums, UV works continuously and there are no headaches.

Anthony

I haven't used UV, but when I studied the issue, I read that the power of UV is very important and it's not just about the volume of the aquarium. For 300 liters, there was even a recommendation for 36 watts, and that lower power wouldn't be effective. I agree with this, as UV is not for lighting, but for KILLING microbes. Look for this topic online. So, does that mean it won't be possible to get full live rock from dry rock?

Lindsey3362

Over time, it will work out. There are beneficial bacteria in the water, although in smaller quantities, but they will gradually populate the aquarium. It will take about 8 months.

Brandi

Off-topic. It's a bit long... What if we rub them with lard?

Kimberly3727

How do you know how much time is needed?

Todd

From conversations with Anatoly (nickname). Others can probably suggest how long it takes for the aquarium to "come to life." In a freshwater aquarium, full colonization of the substrate by bacteria takes 2-3 months. But there it's substrate, not stone.

Denise

This is my area of expertise. Give me a precise criterion for determining whether the stone has come to life or not, and I will tell you exactly when it will happen for me! Then we will all find out how long this process takes. My system is almost 4 months old and can handle ammonium on its own (I have confirmed this in practice). What else can we expect from the living stone?

Crystal

I am in favor of regular use - remotely, even without knowing all the details - but I read that UV and plankton are a concern - and I currently have two oysters from Metro living (didn't want to mention it) advises to just eat them before it's too late.

Jose

Are you fattening them up????

Catherine

Off-topic. Well, yes - I'm fattening them up to market weight - I enjoy watching them, I like mollusks - just talked about Tridacna (we were chatting on the phone) and I got really interested. But first of all, I'm afraid to get anyone else for now, and secondly, he said it costs about 70 bucks, and I got a bit of a craving.

Jessica

then in the subway - for new creatures)))) you’ll fatten them up - and there will be a sea dinner at home)))

Chad9037

Well, what are tridacnas doing in fresh water?!!! Slow down a bit... They are sensitive to fluctuations in parameters, and you will have more of those. It's really better to eat the oysters and save them from a hungry death. Regarding the revival of S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) - the time depends on many factors - the amount of L.K. (live rocks) for "seeding," the amount of water used from established aquariums, the amount of nutrients for the bacteria, and finally the water temperature! So no one can tell you the exact time for "revival."

Guy

I finally bought a pump on UV today - of course, it's Atman for 76, with a capacity of 1200 l/h.

Rachael

Your atman will rust with an iron axle.

Robert

They will rust - I will replace - the streams from San-San are not planning to do that yet. Three more ceramic ones from Fish Street are on the way - when I receive them, I will check the diameter of the rod - I will definitely find somewhere to put it.

Randy

Here on the forum, they offered glass axles of any size.

Maria6659

These axles do not rust - I have never seen them rusty. The streams of San-San and the fight are mostly metal - everything is as it was, not even a hint of corrosion, the largest one has been in the aquarium for almost a year. However, the screws in the lid that used to be there rusted within a month, even from simple bubble bursts at the level of the screw and without any other direct contact with water.

Julia

I have two metal screws on my New Jet - not sure what kind, but they aren't magnetic. I read somewhere about debates regarding them, saying they might fail, but I haven't seen any signs of that yet, even though they don't bear any significant structural load - you can just put a plastic latch there. I'm wondering if "it" starts to corrode right away in 5-12-20 days, and if not, then it will last a long time.

Vanessa6144

The axles won't rust! At least on the Atman and for the next 10 years! (I won't say more - I have no information, but those I installed 10 years ago look like new. The condition is that they must be in use, not lying in saltwater).

Dana4701

When you are ready for a Tridacna, don't just grab any one. Some are so beautiful that words can't describe them, while others are not so much...

Leonard

agreed +100

Erin

Oleg, here we go again. When the system reaches its peak population and can handle the load, there will be no lower algae - that will be your success. And you can consider the launch on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) successful. Understand, your aquarium is only 4 months old; it's too early to say... A year to a year and a half. When the corals grow, when there are many fish, etc.

Joseph2576

I understand that this topic is not suitable for here, but are lower algae really as scary as they are portrayed? From an aesthetic point of view, perhaps, but in the sea, lower organisms are not abundant not because they "handle the load," but because they serve as food for fish and others. Lower organisms consume nitrates and phosphates and many other things, grow, and serve as natural food. I agree that lower organisms can smother hard corals that have experienced tissue detachment from the skeleton and exposed the porous part. In this case, the thread will not miss its opportunity.

Susan9583

This is called the "Nitrogen cycle" in the aquarium.

Christopher8654

Off-topic, could you please tell me where?

Ronald5720

Oleg, there are no exact deadlines and there can't be. Everyone is different! The fact that you have 25 corals and 2 fish is good, but it doesn't mean much yet. The corals haven't grown yet... The peak of the system, in my understanding, looks something like this: Plus a bunch of corals. It's clear that you can ruin the system even with live rocks. I think that dry reef rocks won't withstand the load that live rocks can handle. And Oleg, I could be wrong. Everything I write or say!

Phyllis

"Call it nanotechnology if you want)))))))" Bravo! I agree 100%. It doesn't matter if it's L.R.C. (live rocks), S.R.C. (dry reef rocks), etc. The main thing is a functioning system. "So if there is cyan, then it is needed for something at the moment." Oleg, if we think like that, we might as well not clean the glass. Let it be. So it is destined.

Nicole7268

Thank you for the information, everything is logical and clear. You always do a wonderful job of logically summarizing the discussion, and this time is no exception. So, what the conversation was about - how much time it takes to turn S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) into J.K. (live rocks)? I think the answer is already obvious. Thank you all!

Melissa1838

Oleg - what are you talking about???? This is invaluable information for me and not just me.

Melissa3820

Also. Biological clocks. For hydrobiota, bred for generations in aquariums, this negative influence is significantly diminished.

Charles894

By the calendar!

Kyle

This is the problem, as changes occur in nature - the sun shines longer, the water warms up more, the current changes, and so on, but nothing like that happens in an aquarium.

Guy

Corals grown in captivity are already better adapted to this...

Omar3497

I agree with Yarik 100%. And secondly, water is supplied from the bottom up in UV, not the other way around; I think it's clear why.

Ricky9405

He does have it, take a closer look, the UV is in the break of the feed pump, i.e. the water is coming from the bottom.

Robert1845

One downside is that it will need to be disassembled frequently to clean the quartz flask. When the UV is off and water flows through it, some of the bacteria and microorganisms present in the water settle on the flask. Due to the constant movement of water, they receive plenty of nutrients and grow rapidly. Then, bam! The UV is turned on. The colony dies, leaving a reddish deposit on the surface of the flask. That's it, you have to disassemble the UV and clean the flask, otherwise it won't be effective. When the UV is constantly on, this doesn't happen, as the lower organisms die immediately and their decaying remains are carried away by the flow of water.

Jason9952

As far as I understand, you need to place the UV in a horizontal position and change the input from the pump.

Karen81

Yes, that's right. The position is better vertical and the water inlet should be at the bottom. Otherwise, it may get airlocked.

Joseph8592

At this power, the UV pump needs about 1000 liters. In general, +1 to Yarik.

Elizabeth6302

connected incorrectly

Mike

I managed to take a photo of the fish. There is a growth on the upper lip - in reality, it is white, and there are two white holes on the other side of the fish. I didn't have breakfast again today.

Marie5348

It's just tightly fitted into the seals. If removed frequently, there is a risk of leakage.

Stacy6866

Along with the stones and glasses, I have Strombus shells.

Melissa3820

My strombus shells are just unrecognizable...............Sanya, at least shave them a bit..........

Samuel6138

Well, I'm going to take a photo of your Ksenia - you really won't recognize her - I'm thinking about where to settle her better for permanent residence. The water is becoming clearer by the minute - I haven't cleaned the glass for a week - now the water is like a tear, and as I went over it with a scraper, I discovered so much new stuff.

John3335

UV-not-UV - maybe I connected it late - but the second Chrysiptera has gone "over the rainbow"... I doomed a living organism...

Ashley5975

Don't worry. I also put down 4 animals... crypto is a tricky thing. But it's an experience, and next time we'll definitely succeed!

Ashley5975

Off-topic. It will definitely work out... Those who are seriously and long-term involved with the sea perceive such temporary setbacks as a signal for even more focused study, in simpler terms, they become even more passionate about it... I know this from my own experience...

Dana4701

Friends, help me identify this thing; I've looked through all the catalogs and can't match anything. It grows very quickly, with little hairs on the edges—something tells me this needs to be eliminated. This thing has a stem like a mushroom; it's clearly not a plant.

Kimberly2102

Did you look here? Take a look yourself, it's hard to figure out what it resembles...

Jacqueline5976

And I looked through it - I just can't find anything similar no matter what. It's also semi-transparent... like made of cloudy glass.

Andrea6761

Off-topic. It's the easiest thing... Why did you decide that it could harm anything? What mortal sins has it been accused of? It's quite possible that it's some kind of sponge... It's better not to read the verdict without presenting the charges... Maybe over time, it will grow into some beautiful invertebrate, and it will be easier to identify it later.

Ryan

No-no-no - I'm not in a hurry to get rid of this thing!!! I just know from life experience that weeds grow quickly and easily, and then it's hard to get rid of them. That's why I'm asking for the club's help, so I don't make a mistake - I like this mushroom - it's cool and shoots up from the mycelium. My wife nicknamed this mushroom "jellyfish."

Kimberly

Off-topic, let it live and graze... It's funny...

Christopher1252

Don't take it too much to heart, there will be more chrysipterus and other beautiful fish in your life, you just rushed a bit. Regarding the crypt, I think the chrysipterus didn't have crypt, it was more likely a bacterial or fungal infection, a consequence of buying fish "on the go" that wasn't properly cared for by the seller. UV could have helped, but it was already too late. Slow down a bit, gradually populate the reef with hardy soft corals, maybe get a couple of shrimp, let them grow.

Destiny

This is most likely something from Lobopbora, Mesopora, Distromium, Padina, Zonaria. Best regards, .

Karen1649

Thank you!!! It's her!!! The video is definitely for a specific taste!!! Lobophora variegata

Samuel6138

It seems that another effect of the UV treatment has been noticed today - I've already mentioned the clear water, which happened quickly. In general, the bag got filled with some brown suspension today - I barely squeezed the water out of it - it seems like something is dying from the lower levels - at least that's what I think.

James1625

UV kills the microflora that is currently trying to gain momentum in the new aquarium. However, in the bag, there is something else. Detritus that is already due to form, especially when you stir the sand, and some part of undecomposed organic matter, since you are feeding the fish, etc.

Eric

I like it...

Joseph591

Today, a strombus climbed onto the plate and adjusted it in its own way, but two others are growing on the side. Yesterday, I noticed two clutches of eggs - I have no idea who laid them, but some micro-shrimps are swirling around them. I examined them through a magnifying glass; they crawl on the stones, not swimming. Maybe they are Gammarus, or maybe not. I am amazed by the diversity of the aquatic world that came with the live rocks. The tridacna seems to have come with a rock - it looks very similar, but it's small. Guys, are the shrimps eating the Palemon's fan worms?

Hunter1471

The question is certainly interesting. Ask A, he will definitely tell you...

David

If they are running in herds, then it's 100% Gammarus. Check at night – they are especially active at this time.

Aaron6112

Where did you get the palaemon shrimp? Huh? Are you itching to catch some in the sea? They are generally called stone shrimp or slender palaemon (Palaemon elegans). Habitat: The slender palaemon inhabits the Black and Azov Seas. Young shrimp feed exclusively on plankton. Adult individuals scavenge for leftover fish food on the bottom. In addition, slender palaemon are regularly fed with small bloodworms or tubifex, minced squid meat, fish, and any dry fish feed. They do not touch fan worms.

Charles4157

I was planning to go to the sea for them today. The fishing line is driving me crazy - I think they should eat it. But unfortunately, there was wind in the morning, so I didn't go fishing. There is one beautiful "black" fan, and there even popped up a small one that is so red and beautiful - I would like to admire them further.

Laura7633

Today I got a small bush - Euphyllia and Heteractis crispa, bought for my clownfish - they have been acting dull the whole time they’ve been with me - both are stuck in the current from the stream and are drifting somewhere without moving more than 20-30 cm back and forth - they are very lively, have a great appetite, but are still dull - I thought about getting an anemone to see if it would help them - no luck - they still act dull and don’t notice it. I know the compatibility chart for anemones and clownfish - but many clownfish make choices against these charts. Maybe I should place a TV closer to them - I mean for the clownfish???

Gregory9432

my ones live in the seaweed))).

Crystal

Be careful with her. Let me know later how she’s doing with you, okay? And post a photo if it’s not too much trouble.

Katie5500

There are different types of crisps. There is also a crisp on my avatar. As for that, it is one of the most "sturdy" actinias. The only ones more indestructible are Heteractis aurora and Pseudocorynactis.

Stephanie4990

I had an unsuccessful experience with Heteractis crispa. When I wrote about it on the forum, I was told that they are not easy to adapt in an aquarium. So I'm passing on the knowledge of my mistakes. I hope it thrives for you! Let me know later how it feeds, where it settles, and any other nuances. Preferably with photos )) I want to try keeping an anemone again someday.

Brooke3987

Sanya, don't panic, I gave you 2 pink Ksenias attached to the stones, and before that, I gave you a white small-polyped Ksyukha, take a photo of "your new predators."

Helen

Here - supposedly took a picture of the action figure. - Odessa gifted me a Pink Ksyukha today, two frags - but for some reason mine is blue-green. Here is the pink one from a - it is really pink, while the one from y that I brought today is blue-green.

Chelsea

Offtopic +100 Especially with someone like me Yesterday I bought a 10,000 K from Sanya at two Silvanias, it was supposed to be white - but in reality, it's pinkish - maybe that's why Ksenia turned blue-green? They turn it off at 6:00 PM - I'll see what color it becomes.

Nicole7268

I don't know, Sanya, it's your choice, but there are much more beautiful Heteractis. There are pure white ones, and there are white ones with lilac tips, and the one you chose, in terms of beauty, is not great, I don't know - I don't know... look for yourself, maybe you liked it, who knows... if you're going to get an anemone, then Heteractis Magnifica is the way to go. Just look at the photos from Lyokha, it's simply "BOMB," a decoration for the whole reef, and you can get Magnifica for 75-80 USD, while you paid 60 USD for this one. You should have waited and ordered a better Magnifica in Kyiv... well, that's just my thoughts out loud.

Michelle1505

Sanya, WHAT Silvanias. 10000K is not a parameter. You can check the spectra of Silvanias here.

Stacy6866

really useful website

Anne

Off-topic, for the sea, white 10K Aquastar and Actinics Coralstar are suitable. They shine well, just not with San-San ballasts in the fixtures (my whites don't reach full brightness with them).

Travis572

Aquastar. This is not for the sea...

Richard2180

Napys "For fresh and marine water" - "Tropical light"

Tracey

It's actually good that there are pink-tinted ones. There are also IT lamps with a pink tint, and those who installed them were satisfied with that spectrum. The corals looked much more interesting with the pink color, although honestly, I haven't tried it myself...

Angela7060

Odessa, in Silvania the light output is weak, which they certainly do not mention...

Jennifer9100

The price-luminosity-color quality of the Silvania is quite good. Personally, I like the aquarium for coral and Aquastar halfway.

John828

I would install one or two Aquastar, three or four Coralstar, and one JBL or Faunamarin actinic.

Nicole2404

compared to what??

Joshua9340

At least with Dennerle.

Jennifer5784

I told you a long time ago, SANYA, but you don't listen - you have too much light, reduce the photoperiod, let it mainly be actinic light. What are you lighting up over there? Your corals don't thrive in strong light, reduce the light, the filamentous algae won't grow there... In the first month, it's generally advisable to have minimal light.

Stephanie9175

Yes, that's right - from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, two blue lights are on - I told my wife not to raise the blinds in that room - it's a sunny room, the sun "wanders" in the aquarium. From 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, the blue-white lamps are on. From 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, two white lights are on. Maybe we shouldn't turn on some group at all? For example, the two white ones from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM...

William5838

In the situation with the lower organisms that you found yourself in (somehow everything went wrong with the lighting), the light should not be turned on at all. And will it even help? Don't even think about pouring in chemicals. The only thing left to do is to populate the aquarium with the macroalga Caulerpa prolifera so that it can grow there (of course, with the lighting you have) and plant more of it. This macroalga will outcompete the filamentous algae, which will gradually start to wither away until it completely disappears. By the way, it would be a good idea for you to share your experience with Olegacy; he had a similar outbreak of lower organisms and successfully dealt with it.

Robert

I will only write about lighting... For your volume, 2 T5*54W will be enough for the normal existence of soft corals! I would leave two blue ones, or one blue and one actinic. And that's it! The last option provides an amazing lighting, especially in systems where the corals haven't developed bright colors. Remember: blue and actinic!

Linda

I had a serious cyanobacteria problem and had to use chemicals. I was very pleased with the result; the cyanobacteria are gone, and the higher algae and corals were not harmed. I followed the instructions carefully, and I still have two bottles of this powder left. If you want, I can give you some of this wonderful powder for your volume. That's how it is, although I also hesitated until the last moment about whether to use this chemical or not.

Rita

He is right. Leave only the blue spectrum, or blue and actinic, although I lean more towards the first option. Or just turn it off for now; in my opinion, you don't have any sensitive ones yet, and the few that you do have can survive in the meantime until the thread doesn't ruin them.

Caitlin3279

Can you be more specific about these conditions? So far, the conclusions from the forum members' experiences are that cyanobacteria thrive on unnecessary nitrates, while phosphates are actually quite essential. At the same time, green macroalgae suffer from a lack of nitrates, which means they cannot absorb phosphates (there are often reports of algae filters stalling during cyanobacteria outbreaks). This creates a vicious cycle...

Sara

Damn... I already took out the Kaulerpu from the sump and set it up in the display. The video is something else - when my wife saw my know-how, she said, "Are you trying to copy Takashi Amano but only in the sea? Is this going to be our marine herbarium?" ??? Right now, the aquarium looks like who knows what - I just need to down some absinthe and then the pink monkeys will fit in harmoniously. Anyway, I'm turning off all the lights - leaving just one group - there's a blue San-San and San-San Coral. Whatever happens, it won't be avoided.

Katie4842

What are the current levels of nitrates/phosphates in the aquarium? I have encountered several times the "heretical" idea for sailors to add nitrates to the water to activate the process of phosphate absorption.

Lindsey3362

Why? Put it back in the samp in the algae tank. You need the higher ones to prevail in the system, and it doesn't matter where they will be (in the samp or the display). My lower ones are growing selectively; the daylight hasn't changed since the New Year, and they sometimes grow more, sometimes less, and it's hard to understand why.

Heather

Buddy, the thing is that according to the indicators everything is great - even better than one might expect No3 & PO4 = 0. I'm really in shock - how to extract Caulerpa from the display??? Sanya-Turbik, did I understand your thought correctly??? In short, for now I'm turning off all the lights and leaving just one group.

Megan

Returning to the question of test accuracy, for "working" heteromorphs and caulerpas, a lot of nitrates and few phosphates are needed... Although no one can say for sure what is needed for cyanobacterial growth.

Natalie

put it back where you got it, i.e. in the samp. why do you need algae in the display when you have an algae eater in the samp?

Steven7574

Sanya, I will lie down there soon myself. You know, an interesting fact... in the samp where Caulerpa (there's little of it) and Heteromorpha, there's more than enough (it reproduces) - it doesn't smell like thread - that surprised me - I will follow Oleg's path and the recommendations of Anatoly - I will experiment with the bio-balance - it's interesting, isn't it!!! Today I collected some thread deposits from the sand and loaded them into the samp - in theory, it should die there with such a mass of macrophytes nearby.

Angel628

In fact, what is the point of transferring macrophytes to the display?

Jennifer

Yes, while simultaneously releasing their waste into the water, which adds nitrates/phosphates to the system. You need to experiment not like a 3-year-old child who sticks things into outlets until they get a hairpin, but by understanding the cause-and-effect relationship between your actions and the events in the system. Otherwise, you might end up experimenting to the point where the entire aquarium collapses.

James

It makes sense - they are competitors in the food chain.

Lisa

It is actually logical, considering the distribution of nitrate/phosphate consumption by macrophytes and the external input of phosphates. Either the rate of their input into the system was approximately equal to the rate of their consumption by macrophytes, or your algae are violating the laws of energy conservation. Can they be voiced? The test results are called into question when "everything is at zero and something is going wrong."

Thomas1044

I don't know, buddy - I'm already doubting every step I take. But the fact is, there are no threads in the sump!!! And my circulation is about 4 volumes per hour. Well, the only thing I see for now is to raise the caulerpa, otherwise the chaetomorpha has suppressed it in the sump. What is still more rational to keep in the refugium - caulerpa or chaetomorpha??? Is it bad for them to be together, or I haven't monitored the density of chaetomorpha... I halved it yesterday. Well, Oleg, this won't work, I'm very grateful to you for your experience and for helping with your advice.

Amy

I encountered even more subversive information - literally: "the harm of nitrates is practically nonexistent." I think the following. It's not about nitrates, but rather that nitrates are the final (almost) point of the nitrogen cycle. That is, there are much more harmful chemicals that come first, and they cause the main harm. Therefore, adding nitrates to a clean aquarium will benefit soft corals. In any case, after introducing fish into the aquarium and starting to feed them, it clearly benefited the Sarcophyton.

Mitchell3177

Mainly in Samp, they use Hetamorph.

Tiffany5069

I read it poorly. This is not a current with Sasha, but a system pumping - i.e. water exchange with the sump. The current there is 15 Chinese volumes + return with pumping of 4 volumes.

Jeffrey496

It's unlikely that he immediately extracted dead fish from the water, while I, for example, immediately put 40 kg of live rocks on the wheels, and there weren't even any filamentous algae nearby. I still think that he has a lot of light; I told Sanja about this at the very beginning... minimum light... MINIMUM.

Laura4892

Be careful, not all corals react harmlessly to chemicals, ask A. Once he added a small dose of AntiRed, and the next day he lost a coral. True, the cyanobacteria decreased, but is the price too high?

Joseph6461

In the sump, there is no powerful lighting for the starting aquarium like you have in your aquarium, that's one; in the sump, the biodominant is K. Prolifera per unit volume, that's two; in the sump, there is no (macrophyte) that amount of organic matter that remains in the aquarium when feeding the animals, that's three; and finally, in the sump, the decomposition of organic matter occurs much more effectively, however, this effectiveness is still clearly insufficient to stop the growth of lower organisms in the main water body.

Todd8452

I don't think that a 10 kg patch of J.K. (live stones) is the second restart.

Jeffrey2277

The light there is impressive - the Carolina inside the flotor has started to grow - it found the most suitable spot. The other points are clear. It's strange for me to hear this from Sanya, and it's already been said several times - everyone says "what a mess" - I still want, really want 10 kg. I think by that time I'll overcome the thread, knock on wood. Today one stone looks without the usual erokesa.

Shawn

I also have a brownish coating and algae where the sun rays play on the sand.

Andrea9320

What's strange? You had 10 dry reef rocks and 10 live rocks - you add 10 live rocks, which means you're adding almost half again as many rocks - of course, your biobalance will be thrown off immediately and the reboot process will start. If you add 1-2 kg or a maximum of 10% of the mass, then your system, once it starts up normally, will be able to accept that without crashing, but if you add more, there may be further reboots, just milder ones. P.S. So either load almost all at once or add a little bit at a time, otherwise... I described it above.

David3217

Glory - I miss it so much in brown. It flew by for me in the blink of an eye - it was here for about 4-5 days - then I started arranging the stones and sifted the sand with brown - it was gone, but you know what came out instead.

Jennifer

I also brought it down to 0. And I also observe how heteroxenia is dying. Slowly but surely...

Shane

Nitrates = 0, not detected by the test. Both Ksenias (pink and regular) are growing and dividing at an unreal speed. What am I doing wrong?

Jesse

BEFORE the water replacement or AFTER?

Ryan1989

In the first month of the launch, the nitrates dropped to zero. Since then, they have never risen again - neither before the water change, nor after, nor during. I saw how the anti-phosphate killed Ksenia. Maybe it's not about which chemical substance is removed from the water, but which one appears and poisons Ksyukh?

Jasmine

If there are no nitrates in the aquarium and the xeniids are thriving, it means they are satisfied with the amount of dissolved organic matter present in the aquarium. Xeniids can become stressed and stop growing if there are madrepore corals in the aquarium. The more of them there are, the worse it is for the xeniids.

Daniel8015

The guys - I'm managing, the second day the light is dimmed - the thread has stopped "bubbling," it's clearly visible that it has ceased its intense reproduction, this is visually apparent. Strange thing, the water has become even clearer. The UV has been running for 1.5 weeks - today there is no residue on the glass, it's almost unusual... Caulerpa is still alive in the display - I haven't removed it. P.S. The thread that I threw into the sump with the chaetomorpha for the experiment has practically "dissolved."

Karen2578

Now is the time to play with the spectrum. To find one that is good for corals and bad for the thread.

James3382

I'm having a blast experimenting with this. I'm getting a lot of pleasure from the anemone - I didn't expect it to be so cool to feed it - wow, it seems like it understands everything - too bad they don't recommend feeding it every day.

Lindsey3628

Such an Ophiura arrived today from Slava-Kent. The thread is no longer bubbling, but it doesn't intend to leave - you see it on the sand? It behaves the same way on the rocks, of course.

William5838

I’ll take a look at it, San, since it was always stuck in the rocks for me, with only the tentacles sticking out in all directions.

Jennifer5371

Glory - that's how her wife took a photo of her as soon as I poured her out of the bag - and then she immediately jumped under a stone, sitting there, tearing the thread off the stone with her tentacles. But she's really big - when I saw her, I got scared - it seemed like the end for my little unanchored stones with umbrellas on top of the mountain. But if she eats the thread - I'll forgive her everything.

Brandon4517

It's better to feed her once a week, you can give a medium shrimp without shell for your anemone... once a week, and don't overdo the feeding, otherwise she'll spit it out, and nitrates and phosphates will spike.

Amber

I read a long article about these anemones on a website of a person who has been breeding them for 10 years. In short, he recommends feeding the anemones twice a week. It turns out that an average anemone can consume a piece of food 5 cm long and 1 cm thick. He says that if you want them to divide, you should feed them more often, but he didn't specify how often.

Jonathon8514

Large brittle stars, like the others, drop everything poorly secured at night.......... In the morning, I find one coral lying on the sand, then another........... I feel this is the work of the brittle stars..............

Michael5242

Help with a link or info to identify worms They live in burrows, on stones - their body resembles a centipede with many "legs," they emerge from the burrow and are 10-12 cm long. The head is round and separately attached, with two "antennae" on the head - they don't fully come out of the burrow, and the tail seems to be anchored, stretching like a rubber band. They grab something from the stone and, with the speed of a stretched rubber band, in a second they retract back into the burrow - probably digesting there and then stretching out again... I found half of one a couple of days ago on the sand - apparently, a click beetle bit it, and it was finished off by an anemone, which I nudged towards it.

Javier5186

here's the worm catalog for you, Sanya... sit and identify

Curtis9143

Thank you!!!! There is contact!!!! This is Eunicids, which is a typical "rock worm" that lives in them - they are omnivorous, but mainly "scavengers" that eat detritus, but on the logo, it says that it seems they also ate some "umbrellas." Guys - what do you think - what should I do with them??? Let them live??? Or I don't know how to catch them???!!!

Stephanie3084

They almost all have it, they throw away the especially big ones.

Rachel

Yesterday, after the lights went out, the "Slava-Kent" brittle star finally appeared, and we managed to admire its grandeur; my wife took some photos. Slava, I'm posting this especially for you. Oh, and it is quite a speedy creature when it needs to be. I had nightmares all night - the brittle star crawled into the overflow and blocked the pipe - 400 liters of water pumped into the room - ttt.

Brent5588

Thank you, San, at least I can look at it with you! And may you have nightmares, don't admire it at night anymore.

Ricky9405

how impressionable you are, SANYA, a sensitive soul, a resident of the subway?

Mitchell7972

There are two of them.

Chad9037

Our godmother had a regular DSLR - here’s the result. Don’t criticize the rear window - I’ll clean it... I’ve already set aside money for J.K. (living stones) for May 18 - I’ll take at least 10 kg more.

Alexandra

When I read "I've already set aside money for," I mentally added "a DSLR." It turns out, no, for live rocks.

Caroline1599

The DSLR has been added to the shopping list after the J.K. (live stones) - in second place.

Javier5186

Off-topic and at the same time the most talkative on the forum. He is an example to follow. Maybe the forum would be more interesting and lively then...

Scott9892

definitely by the way, I have come across a considerable number of promotions from various marine stores on some forums...

Jeffrey496

Yes, that's right, Sanya is a great guy, really sociable and positive person.

Lauren

Offtopic You are doing well in Odessa, there are enthusiasts of marine aquaristics. We can share the experience. But for us, it's tough, there’s no one to communicate with. True, Yarik sometimes brightens up the gloom, but he is quite far from us. Recently, a guy named Lyokha Porsh appeared, but he is a busy person, so we see him rarely. Practice has shown that movement in marine aquaristics happens when there are like-minded people, and the more there are, the better the results. If there are "one or two warriors in the field," it’s dull; only the Forum can dispel it... But our activity is weak, very weak...

Anthony7814

Off-topic. Guys, I'm still holding back in terms of "communication" - if I let loose, you'll have to "hold me back." - Is it time for me to do a water change??? What do you think??? It's been almost a month and a half for us with the ocean - after May 18th, I'll add more live rocks (LR), and if there are no unforeseen circumstances, I'll take 20 kg - so there will be 20 live rocks already, and 10 dry rocks (DR) will come, roughly 15 kg. Brothers, what do you recommend for the water change, and if so, what percentage???

Andrea

Offtopic. Oh, I'm all alone in the city... at least I can chat with you, gain some wisdom... Thank you all for your support!!!

Tina

Offtopic That's what forums are for, guys - a community, so to speak - the greatest thing!!! I've already said - without this forum and those who "patriot" on it, I would still be dreaming of the sea. For me, for example - Yarik, Max, Slava - they are just like friends to whom I bow low and whom I haven't seen in real life, like those I already know "visually, not formally" - Sanya and those I live in the same city with. Well, Sanya and his Tanya on Rife - but that's a legendary person already and a separate topic. In unity and mutual assistance - our strength!!!

Eric

Don't you want to add five kg instead of fifteen? Or did you enjoy rebooting the system?

Kimberly4253

GOLDEN WORDS!

Jeffery7866

Well, guys, you’ve all scattered here))) there are few people in the city... and by the way, I’m probably the only one in the country like this, and looking at someone else's sea is a disaster! Even the displays in the stores are just shameful... If it weren't for the forum, I wouldn't have seen the sea either...

John3335

And one in the field is a warrior - he is a sailor!

Ross

Well, make it 5%. What MEs are you adding and how? Or do you not deal with them at all?

Tracy4603

I don't add anything. Do I have to??? If I have to, then I'll buy and start adding. I'll add live rocks right away - however much there will be - I don't want to play with three kg. - nothing delicate is living with me for now - whatever will be, will be.

Aaron580

Well, buy a GBL trio. And add it according to the instructions. Three aquariums in beautiful boxes. Strontium, molybdenum, iodine, cobalt, etc. You can also purchase magnesium from the same company separately in the same packaging. Please provide the full parameters for hydrochemistry.

Michele9664

JBL Tracein 3 - maybe it's about him.

Anne4851

Probably "it". Should I take it???

Amy5468

Here I am waiting for a response...

Amy5468

Take it. You also need to get tests for magnesium, calcium, and pH, Sanya.

Jesse

I can send the stones along with them and Tracein.

Dana4701

You can make a barbusyatnik, like in the good old days.

Maria6659

I am satisfied with the collaboration with Igor, a professional approach to the job, good work with the client, acceptable prices, keep it up!

Katie3017

Off-topic I don't even know what kind of Barbuses there should be to catch my attention after the sea. You yourself asked me 20 times, "Tell me, the sea doesn't even compare to freshwater." when they were sending a package to Slava-Kent by train.

Debbie3587

Barbusyatnik is from the realm of memories, while karantinnyk is exactly that...

Cynthia6578

I'm thinking about it - but building a second sea - a flotator-light-J.K. (living stones) for quarantine only - is quite expensive, I haven't raised the main thing yet - to be honest - I can't find anywhere how to set up a quarantine - maybe it's all simpler to solve???

Andrew9246

It can be simpler to buy farmed fish from a reliable supplier.

Matthew1280

Do you even believe your own words? Which of our suppliers keeps fish for 2-3 months? No one! At most, it's a week or two. If it starts eating and doesn't die within a week, it's already considered fattened and overheld, the price multiplies by 5 and off to sale. I've already written - in my aquarium, only the "overheld" fish died, while all the "wheel" fish survived and are not sick.

Jeremy3637

You can also study the list of fish based on their resilience and susceptibility to diseases. Some fish are more prone to illness, while others are less so. Choose the more "hardy" ones.

David7773

I received a vial of chemicals for the new fish from acquaintances - they say it significantly boosts the fish's immunity and makes acclimatization easier. Has anyone from the forum used this product?

Tanner

Guys, for what possible reasons could a large Caulerpa bush have died in two days??? It didn't live in a sump - it was in an aquarium. I noticed that it was attaching to an anemone and became transparent, turned cloudy white - I moved it away yesterday - today it's completely done for, or maybe someone was specifically eating it??? Three branches nearby are doing great. A mystery for me...

Joshua9847

My entire green caulerpa has disappeared (3 huge bushes) - they turned white, released murk into the aquarium, and vanished forever. Experienced friends said that this is called "sexual reproduction" for it...

Joshua9340

Oleg, everything you said was true, but I didn't get what kind of reproduction it is if she's done for? Did she release spores into the water and bail??? Or what???

Lindsey3362

That's right. In 1-2 days, it turned white and became completely transparent. Then it released something like spores into the water (the murk was terrible!!!) and after a couple of days, it completely rotted... I still don't understand what caused this trouble, but I won't be getting a green caulerpa again. ))

Christopher1252

It's better to keep all this grass in a grow box with 24-hour lighting to prevent this from happening.

Natasha7622

It is sexual reproduction. It is hard to say what the cause is. Some say it happens when conditions change (like needing to escape, but since we can't walk or swim, at least we can save the genotype). I tend to think that it's just "time has come." In any case, the heteromorph is more reliable.

Bonnie

And this grape never lived long for me, I tried it three times. The other algae (chaetomorpha and "long" - I don't remember the names) were fine, but I eventually threw out the long ones because the hedgehog was pulling them out of the sand and dragging them around the aquarium, while I still have chaetomorpha.

Teresa

I do it that way, for example.

Courtney4094

Hmm, interesting plant!!! In Samp, it really flourished and smelled. There are three branches and one red one left in the aquarium.

Danielle8118

I went to the sea today to hunt for paquimons (Palemon). Off-topic: Ah, tail-scale, I didn't catch anything... nothing at all. I took two small J.K. (living stones) so I wouldn't go back empty-handed; there are small midges sitting on them - they'll probably die.

Jade

Black Sea J.K. (living stones) - does anyone need a couple of tons??? I can send them.

Andrea9320

Offtopic Sania, hurry up and write another message, did you see what number your last message is?

Reginald5073

Off-topic Apparently, you can't put local J.K. (living stones) in the aquarium.

Ronald

Is this your "epiphany" from not catching anything? Who catches palemon like that? By the way, the mussels won't die.

Wendy

So, should I not put them in the aquas??? Stones from the sea, I mean??? I took two - one is a good piece for a turtle under umbrellas or mushrooms... the other one I just took, there are tiny mussels.

Thomas1044

By the way, there are very beautiful sea anemones in the Black Sea, anemones-equinus... the colors are very beautiful... but they are quite difficult to find... you have to look under the stones...

Bryan1851

Stop confusing yourself and others. All tropical wildlife grows on these stones.

Cheryl9296

On our beaches, there are only vacationers and shrimp, jellyfish, needlefish, and ice cream and beer - nothing else. Well, they are of no use to me, I understood that, right? I read somewhere that limestone can emit something or is it all nonsense??? There are just so many beautiful and porous ones - they really tempt me to bring them to the aquarium.

Heather6148

Off-topic. Sanya, I won't praise you endlessly or call you anything. If doubts are gnawing at you, then don't plant. Buy more tropical live rocks (LR), dry reef rocks (DR) and you will be happy.

Jennifer

What doubts could I possibly have??? If there are people I owe as much as the land to the collective farm and whom I consider my idols in this matter. Like you, for example. There are questions where I am strong and can advise myself, but where I am still a novice, I open my mouth and learn... something like that.

Michelle1505

he launches aquariums on Black Sea live rock, and the reefs bloom and thrive, so he will tell you a lot about the benefits of Black Sea live rock

Noah1632

It's uncomfortable for a person to be pulled without an invitation. I read his topics; he even uses Black Sea sand, but it’s brought from Tarkhankut. As soon as the water warms up to at least +18, I'll go under our piers. Today, I noticed so many beautiful stones at 10th Fontana.

Jennifer5371

so he is taking it from Tarkhankut himself

Pamela

Yes, we have been there more than once. We used live rocks from the Black Sea as the main auxiliary element when setting up a tropical marine aquarium. That's why such nuisances as cyanobacteria, algae, etc., have bypassed us. To this day, these rocks are in our aquariums. I want to emphasize that working with live rocks from the Black Sea is a strictly individual project, and we do not provide it as a recommendation for forum users when setting up marine systems.

Linda

If you're going to drag, then not from the shore, but those that are on the dam or behind the pier, where you need to dive. And almost all of them that are in the sea are heavy; you can't haul too much, it's not Israel after all, and you can't just throw the creatures in right away, even if they are mussels - you need to gradually acclimate them to the salinity, otherwise they'll die. P.S. I'll go for the "turtles" in the summer.

Stephen5841

found an aquarium logo theme with Black Sea anemones

Anthony4281

Sanya - no way, I was just about to take "live" stones from under the benches. Well, obviously from under the pier - and there are no vacationers swimming there, I mean at the cherished pier on the 10th - there are only stones - that's why only fishermen hang out there. In short, I'm going to gather local, domestic stones and "turtles."

Jeanne

very beautiful anemones............I wonder in which part of the Black Sea they can be found, at what depth, etc. maybe someone knows?

David3217

Yes, I'm not talking about that. Where did you "scoop" those up without diving? I don't remember which pier you're talking about, but I want to gather some from the dam-cubes (from the outside) "behind the popovka" (if I can still get there by summer). And I'm not a walrus; I won't go in at 18, and by 25 there will be too many people on the beaches, so I won't be going to the frog ponds. Off-topic: I also have an acquaintance, an "ichthyander," with a mask, fins, and a tank, but he's lazy; he will only bring back beautiful stones "from afar" with a trailer, and I won't have the nerves to convince him to go for stones separately.

John

Depth from 30 cm to 2 meters. Everywhere there are rocks. In cracks and on negative surfaces - they do not like light.

Nancy758

I dug out from under the cells on the pier, wherever my hand could reach.

Alec9378

Call me, I'll tell you in detail where and which ones are better.

Nicholas2252

catch actinium-send it to me

Jacqueline6670

Off-topic. Are the Black Sea shrimp Palemon Elegans the ones sold boiled in cups on every corner? Or are the boiled ones a different type? If it's a different one, which one?

Monica

Lesha, can I call you today too??? To chat about the Black Sea residential complex (living stones)??? Well, they are from the sea - since there are also some from freshwater estuaries - those seem to be different. And in boiled form, they are all red.

Cheyenne2747

No. You can't sell the stone shrimp Palemon elegans in glasses. It is listed in the Red Book and, unlike the grass and sand shrimp, it is only found on rocks, and even there, where it used to be somewhat common, you can now find nothing. It is becoming an endangered species.

Nicholas5194

Here you can see beautiful Palemon and Zobak. By the way, the sphinx dogs of the Black Sea live wonderfully in the tropical M.A. (marine aquarium) and look great. They don't harm anyone, including the corals.

Gregory

I was specifically going after them with a net - Elegance just like in the photos, I never dreamed of catching. I hope the grass ones will clean the line for me.

Emily3506

You need to look for grass herbs in the grass. Stones are not their biotope.

Tracey

So the stones are covered with grass, and that's where they sit. In general, those that I caught before as bait for the "bullhead" are just gray with a greenish tint. From the two small stones I brought from the sea yesterday, a lot of creatures crawled out - little worms are very interested in the umbrellas I placed on one stone, I saw one amphipod, maybe there are more. In general, the plan for populating the sand with bugs and spiders worked.

Joshua9340

How are they "interested"?

Mark

Here they are. They sit in the grass, which is on the stones. And in that grass, which is not on the stones but grows on the ground, there is herbal palemon. It is sold by the cups. It has no black bands on its body, and its legs are not colored like those of the stone one.

Lori4746

They crawl all over them, trying to get inside the umbrellas, but the umbrellas close immediately. I chased them away with a stick, and they scattered all over the aquarium. Whatever I catch will be it - I need them for herbivory. Just now, I saw something amazing. My wife couldn't resist and bought a Sarcophiton - what a cool creature - I glued it down, but it decided to fall, and from the center of the gramophone, a green amber egg rolled out - it looks like some kind of bean again - anyway, I caught it and glued it to a rock - maybe this will be the second Sarcophiton???

Alyssa6727

He got motion sickness during the transport and threw up.

Elijah7048

Yes, it's probably some kind of sponge, they cut the sark for reproduction. An unpropagated sark is bad; I couldn't manage to propagate mine properly after its leg started to rot and I cut it off. It was a good sark, my first coral. P.S. Try to buy things that should be propagated already.
