Good day to all aquarists... Due to a sudden move from Resun DM-500 to Red Sea Max 130 liters, I decided to start my page in this section.
To begin with, I purchased new sand from Carib Sea. I salted the water (Tropik line salt) yesterday and filled 80 liters. The water is still cloudy, the pump with the sponge has been running since last night, but there is no clarity yet, we will wait... I don't have money for rocks at the moment, so everything will be transferred from the old aquarium. Photos at the moment:
Jennifer7159
Cool "reboots" these days - the aquarium next to it is twice as big. Light for contrast. Will you transfer everything from the small one or leave two?
John1464
Pasha, well done!
Michelle13
No, one is enough (and I had enough problems with one))). I will transfer everything from the old one... just when the water becomes clearer.
Hannah
A good aquarium, but I don't really like the price. It looks great though. What will you keep in it? Haven't turned on the pump yet?
Jacqueline5976
So, Pasha has a suitcase with money near the pedestal. The aquarium really looks impressive!!! We are waiting for the continuation.
Vanessa6144
The diplomat went to the aquarium as a gift. The aquarium was obtained in exchange for 2 others - for such money, he couldn't buy a new one (though it is used). He tried the pump when he filled it with plain water to check the aquarium, but only one pump is working so far...
Phyllis
So what will be in it? I'm curious how noisy the fan will be and if there will be enough light for the hard drives.
Frank7213
the light in RED SEA MAX is weak, but it's just right for soft corals and some LPS
Brandy
To be honest, I haven't decided yet. The colony of Rodaxists is moving from the old place, along with 2 Ksenias, some mushrooms, a sand anemone, and fish, and then we'll see...)))
Mitchell7972
Aqua has bought a slightly modified light: it has 2 lamps of 24V at 15000K, one 10000K 24V, and an actinic lamp at 24V. All the lamps are Aqua Medic.
Anthony4281
The penny seemed very noisy to me.... Time will tell, I'll add water to the desired level (from the old aquarium), and the whole system will start up.
Brian6895
Question: how much time does it approximately take for the water to clear up, because it doesn't seem to want to become "crystal clear"???
John1464
which sand from Carib Sea?
Alec9378
I saw this aquarium about six months ago. At one point, I also wanted to buy it; they were asking 6000 for it without any livestock. I recognized it by the modified lighting. It's a beautiful setup, congratulations on the purchase, and good luck with its development!
Thomas1044
Carib Sea Arag-Alive
Derek7322
And now, as you can see, they have left. The aquarium looks quite normal.
Scott8536
Unfortunately, it's not as I would have liked. The algae are growing again on the rocks and on the substrate(((
Katie5500
Pasha, I wish you more good J.C. (live rocks) and more macrophytes as well. The situation would improve significantly. It's hard to make out the details in the photo, where things are not right.
Caleb6320
Isn't it a bit too little light? 3x24?
Gabriel
Arag-Alive should settle quickly...
Crystal
We'll live and see))). There won't be anything more there...
Matthew1280
What’s the point of changing the lights if there are originally two of 55?
David3217
I apologize, but it seems to me that there is a bit of confusion regarding the lighting here. Pavel wrote that 4 by 24 = 96W is a bit low for SPS, but it will work for soft corals and LPS, although it could be increased. Good luck, Pavel, and may there be no storms.
Brooke
I already wrote above that I bought the aquarium already modified. There are 4 lamps.
James3382
Well, I understood that there was already such a thing. But the meaning is unclear. If there were relatives, it would be possible to add another 24 watts.
Jessica5348
I think it's probably because there was no actinic light with the stock lighting... Or maybe the previous owner didn't like the stock light.
Ross
It will be fine for SPs as well.
Randy
Yesterday, all the creatures were moved to a new aquarium))). Today, the water has already become completely clear, and the inhabitants seem to be doing fine. Here are a few photos:
Very few rocks for such a volume(((. Question: can I deliver a couple of kg of dry reef rocks??? I will post the water parameters later.
Danielle8118
There are not enough stones, so it would have been better to put a couple of dry ones in right away if there wasn't enough money for live stones. Now you've already disturbed the creatures, and adding stones again will disturb them once more, which is not very good. P.S. It would have been better to build a structure with dry stones first and then transfer the creatures from the resin.
James
Maybe it was necessary to place dry reef rock at the bottom and then lay live rock on top? Can you create an interesting reef? Did you get dry reef rock at the Aquarium Center? How many kg?
Vincent
It's correct. Dry reef rock is better to place at the bottom. Add live rock!!! You already had a problem with the lower layers, and it will take quite a long time for the dry reef rocks to partially perform the functions of live rocks. It's not necessary to buy 20 kg—just buy 2-3, and cut discs from the dry reef rocks with a grinder to make a base.
Andrea6761
I haven't bought those dry reef rocks yet, I'm just consulting. I know that I need more...
Thomas
A situation has arisen where Resan needs to be given away tomorrow, unfortunately there was no time.
Ryan
There's no need to rush! When you have the money, you can buy and rearrange everything, but for now, let it be as it is. You can always throw in dry reef rock later, especially considering that dry Caribbean reef rock (not premium, I can't speak for premium) is heavy and costs 40-50. By my estimates, 1 kg of dry reef rock (D.R.R.) equals 2-3 kg of porous live rock. You can do the math from there.
P.S. This is only about dry Caribbean reef rocks. I once bought dry reef rocks that were very light and porous; I would buy those kinds of dry reef rocks again.
Patricia
Please explain, as I didn't quite understand. And what is the current price for live stones?
Justin9867
I didn't understand myself. S.R.K. (dry reef stones) is very heavy. J.K. (live stones) is three times lighter. J.K. (live stones) is now 150-160. Off-topic. Sorry for the nonsense I wrote, I'm already confused myself.
Brandy
21u.yo./kg in a, as it was, he mixed up the names in places, 3kg of dry reef = 1kg of live rock, it won't hold two to one. I have dry reef rock in the aquarium - the Indonesian half is well porous, while the other half of the rock is definitely not Indonesian, so it is poorly porous.
Brandi
Nothing, it happens. How many stones do you have and what kind?
James3382
15 kg of live rock and 15 kg of dry reef rock in a larger aquarium.
Daniel9952
Yesterday, I added 3 kg of rocks from a, which fit well into the aquarium's interior))). Today, I noticed in one corner that the sand has turned a light brown color - I understand this is a normal process after the setup...
Parameters for today:
Water temperature 26 degrees
Salinity 1.023
Day length 11 hours
pH 8.5
KH 7
Nitrates 12.5
Phosphates 0
Stacey4437
Normal process.
Matthew
I just noticed this kind of creature. Can it be kept, or should it be sent on a long voyage???
Jeremy3637
a beast's head is needed for a more accurate decision
Bonnie
Now we're cutting it off!!! Just kidding - for now, the infection isn't showing.
Jennifer5784
I have one like that too. It has grown a lot in six months! It hasn't been noticed doing anything bad. It eats sand, stones, even the guano of hermits.
It's just really ugly. And not very skittish; you can catch it with a thick pair of tweezers.
Stephen5841
Maybe it's a small snake.
Aaron6112
Anaconda is in ambush)))
Thomas5021
Off-topic. I wonder if anyone has received sea snakes with J.K. (living stones)?
Courtney
This is not a snake, it's some kind of worm, its head looks like the trunk of a strombus, it comes out at night, eats something off the rocks, I have one living with me too, I haven't seen any crime associated with it...
John3142
It has been 2 days since the sand started to be covered with brown stuff (if I'm not mistaken - cyanobacteria). + The new stone is also starting to be covered with the same.
Is there anything that needs to be done at this stage??? (I'm afraid to not start it like last time), or should I just let the system stabilize for now... At the moment, the aquarium looks like this:
Kellie
No, it's more like just diatoms; if there are cyanobacteria, they might not be after them. You seem to have some grazers there, although also some lazy ones - I don't remember exactly who, maybe a hedgehog, a blenny, and some kind of hermit crab? You can order a dozen of the smallest hermit crabs from Tkachev, a couple of algae-eating snails, and strombus (I don't remember if you have them?). P.S. Although it seems there are already small ones in the air, but I'm not sure about the price.
Lindsay
That is, there are definitely slackers))). There is a hedgehog, two hermits, and two snails from a. And at night, little snails (about 30) come out.
Joe
I would buy 2 strombuses and a dozen small hermits - they wouldn't be extra. There are many types of snails, I don't remember what Sting was selling - trochus or astrea?
Kimberly2102
I bought three husks. What is their current price (hermits and snails), because the last time I called someone to find out, they told me the price was around 50 - 60?
Nicole2404
A month has passed, I decided to post a couple of photos of the aquarium.
Jerry
And the overall plan?
Over time - what are the current impressions/opinions about this system?
(not in comparison with Rezun, but in general)
Leslie
Especially for you and your caring nature here))
If anyone has such a miracle, I would buy a couple more, as I only have 2.
Jeffrey496
And the thread is slowly disappearing... (And this makes me happy...)
Alexandra
I don't have much experience with aquariums, but I would like to note:
The timer is very convenient.
The aquarium itself is made of quality materials (glass, plastic, seams).
I still haven't figured out the protein skimmer((( and it makes a lot of noise.
During the day, the aquarium gets very warm.
You can't make a sump in the back compartment (as it was possible in the Resun), so I think I'll need to route it to the cabinet.
Everything else is good)))
Alejandro
I was just about to write about this: it seems to me that the thread is slowly coming back((((. Maybe I could try to get a puppy from someone???
Sandra7004
Are the worms already wriggling in the soil? Are the strombus digging? Clean...
Angel628
I have completely new substrate in this aquarium, and it has been clean from the very beginning.
Amber1273
And what does the hedgehog do in the system? Just a sec...ret? On the thread "0" attention?
Jessica5016
No, he eats, but not everything...
Erin2730
Get a little fox. It will irreversibly eat the derbesia, but it will also consume other plants. You can also temporarily add a dog, but after it clears the stones, it will go hungry; however, it won't touch the plants... you can return it to its previous owner right after. Yes, it doesn't always work out that way. Sometimes, it takes a long time for the soil to whiten.
John1464
Where can I find a small dog like that?
Charles
Ask around at the flea market. In general, you don't have anyone nearby to rent it from, so you'll have to look for it among your fellow sailors on the forum. If you can still find it.
Angel628
Pasha, why is your source water TDS-2? That's not right. It should be at least 0.15.
Brandon9634
I stand corrected - TDS shows 002 ppm.
Jessica8898
At the very beginning, it seems you missed something. It's hard to say what exactly now. Your water parameters are normal now. But the thread algae are not deadly. In time, it will disappear. Perhaps you have too much organic matter in the system; it has time to feed the algae before the system processes it. How are you feeding the aquarium, and with what?
Thomas
I fed them once a day with brine shrimp, and now I gave them a try with dry food - they seemed to like it.
Theresa5149
I am attaching a photo of the aquarium before cleaning (it has been 4 days since the last cleaning):
Holly
The bryopsis is thriving for you. You should put a chanterelle on it.
Angel2396
What is a briopsis?
Brandy
Judging by his appearance, he looks like a native. But it's not a big deal, we just need to get some herbivorous mollusks, or a small Lo fox, or a sea hare.
Emma
I assume he came with some single stone. It needed to be removed from the system, otherwise, you probably let it spread, and now it's scattered all over the aquarium and took root. It won't be possible to get it out of the aquarium. It embeds itself in the stones and can quietly sit there, and then it will grow. I have one such stone; I scraped it with a knife, and still, after a while, it broke through. You need to be more careful when buying. If you can find something that will eat it, that might be comforting, otherwise, it's just a headache. Well, maybe chemicals could help.
Linda
So that's what it is. It turns out I don't have any threads... Who has dealt with such a nuisance??? Who might have a sea hare?
William1830
Could you tell me, isn't the dog supposed to eat briopsis?
Mario
The dog doesn't eat it.
Ronald
How do you deal with him?
Teresa
A few photos after cleaning:
Michelle1505
I have it on a separate stone. There is also some coral growing on it. A couple of months ago, I took the stone out and cleaned off all the algae as best as I could. But unfortunately, it has started to grow again. I will cut the coral and either boil the stone or just throw it away. The stone is not porous and has no value.
By the way, in the photo, I see a small Sarcophyton. I wonder if it's a species that grows upwards on a thin stalk or if it doesn't get enough light?
Stacy6866
Sarcophyton was taken from Maslenko (I don't know which species). It's unclear why, but it only releases its polyps when the light goes out. Calastreia and Tubastraea also react to the light.
Jamie3553
Pavel, what kind of flow pumps do you have?
Jill9137
Coralia 1500L, San San 3000L, 2 standard pumps of 550L each, which will pump through the rear compartment, and one more with a sponge in the aquarium for 550L.
