I don't know what kind of light fixture will be up there, but it seems to me that one extractor fan will not be enough. Maybe we should also consider some kind of protection.
Brooke3987
The aquarium was set up on May 7, and the relocation gradually began... The sand was taken from the old aquarium, but it was washed, dried, and rinsed again in osmosis before the launch. Initially, we wanted to keep the live sand, but decided not to take the risk... We bought a bag of live aragonite and stopped there. We used our own rocks since a stone wall was not planned; there were more than enough. We built the structures (though this is still a work in progress), filled them with sand, and started waiting for the light fixture.
Amber1273
What did they have in mind? Protection from what?
Joyce
new photos))) I just thought it would be a bit different with the lighting)) beauty)
Jennifer7159
Tanya, it was obviously meant to be differential... or am I mistaken?
Rodney
I didn't understand you either, what is it about? Heating, evaporation?
Andrea6761
Tanya, with the old water and J.K. (living stones) and a useful thread... but what was the population like in the aqueduct back then?
Andrew419
By the way, to combat the dying thread, the guys from iReef bought wonderful strombus snails, a total of 10 pieces. Why wonderful? Because these are not the first strombus snails; some only burrowed in the sand, others mostly stayed on the rocks, but these are universal and they also sleep little, which is nice!
As of today, the aquarium has settled in with some veterans and a couple of new corals for testing... I hope we will be stocking up seriously soon!
Todd8452
It's not that simple... old water and stones... But who really knows what causes it to grow? It's clear that it consumes something, and that's why it grows, but when I set up the first aquarium, I didn't know what a thread looked like! The population was ordinary, here's a photo just before the disassembly...
Chris
I am talking about a differential relay with automatic disconnection. It is installed as a protective device in the electrical network, at the input, to ensure safety in case of voltage fluctuations and/or short circuits in the electrical network. Please check the latest posts in the topic "Sanyka... 'Sea 250L'."
Raven7170
Very similar to Acropora tenuis.
Alyssa1438
Thank you, I googled it, it looks very similar, but for me, it's still a dark forest, just one name and so different in the photos...
Stephanie4990
As far as I understand, a differential relay and an RCD are the same thing. It's hard to say what we have; an electrician will be changing the ballast (we got a defective one) soon, so I'll ask him about the differential relay. Actually, the electrical system in our apartment is well-designed, with a separate circuit breaker for each room. Moreover, for example, in one room, you can separately turn off the power to the outlets or the lights. Maybe we do have this differential relay... But we didn't think about turning off the lights; we will be installing some kind of uninterruptible power supply.
Jerry
Grundfos with a DIY rotor housing from aleksandrP? And what pump is on the foam? I'm interested in noise levels. I'm going to set up a 400-liter aquarium in the bedroom, I'm worried.
Alexandra
Grundfos from a P. is completely silent!!!! I can't say that it's completely quiet in the cabinet; the noise is created not only by the foam maker but also by the water in the pipes. The noise is relative.... We are currently organizing the aquarium, and then we will get to the sump. As of today, I am satisfied with all the equipment!
Jesse
There is no need to worry... it's better, as they say, to measure a hundred times; that's the main thing... all worries will be left behind by this simple trick...
Devon107
beautiful!
Jesse3979
Could you describe the process of creating structures from live rock (dry reef rock?) in more detail? What glue, concrete, plastic inserts, etc.?
How did this affect the live rocks? How long were they without water?
Were they installed on a base or on sand? Were they glued to the bottom?
Thank you!
Brian7092
Mitchell3177
Beautiful
Joshua3019
Oh, wow! We worked hard for a reason. Well done! It's beautiful...
Ryan
just a gorgeous design!!! The corals have room to grow!
Bridget
It turned out great! Soon on J.K. (live stones) - the demand for stones will drop.
James5032
Maks, the columns are made of living stones as well!
Amanda
I mean that we need much less of them now, I have about 150 kg per 1 ton, and with such decorations, we need three times less.
Wanda666
I agree with that! Three is unlikely, but half is definitely true!
Destiny
Very BEAUTIFUL!!!
Debbie3587
Oh, what a delight!!!
Tanya, is the red monti growing quickly?
Kimberly3727
I don't know yet how fast it should grow, but it has already grown about 1 cm.
Cynthia6578
Tanya, you can't do that! Such beauty should only be shown in church... You've decided to finally finish us off... But seriously, you're amazing to the power of a hundred!!! Forward, to the victory of new coral bastions!!!
Kyle
I didn't know you were so sensitive! But seriously, thank you for the wish!
Eric5208
I am not overly sensitive; I am meticulous and impressionable.
Kyle
I would like to sincerely thank the guys from IReef Company who actively participated in creating this piece of the sea, from assembling the aquarium to its installation, I remind you, 300 km from Kyiv! The fish and almost all the corals are also from them! Thank you for your promptness, integrity, serious attitude towards the client, patience, understanding, and individual approach!!!!!!! Don't change, and success in business is guaranteed to you!
James5103
Your aquarium is currently the most promising one on this forum. In about six months (when the corals grow), you can confidently post it on RC so the whole world can see what amazing aquariums we have. (I'm not flattering - honestly, honestly!)
Curtis9143
Stas, you can call me "you"! Especially since we've already been guests at your place and your fluffy ones also decorate our aquarium! By the way, the little fish I was worried about has recovered!
Now about "growing"... the sea is such an unpredictable world, I don't need to tell you that! So let's admire, enjoy, stay alert... and hope that everything will be fine. I didn't even think about RC, who would be waiting for us there?
Stephanie4990
Good day, everyone!
I have a bit of news that I would like to share!
The little dog has spawned for the second time this month, this time on the Vortex pump. In the group of anti-ants, a male has emerged, changing right before our eyes! Black outlines have appeared on the fins, and the dorsal fin has become sharp.
Also, there is a pink brittle star living in the aquarium; it arrived with a soft coral, a tiny one about five centimeters... After a year, you wouldn't recognize it!
Joyce
The beauty is simply captivating, thank you, the photos are of excellent quality, we just indulged in this beauty, I have a lot of impressions left, I will shudder someday at the sea.
Richard2180
What mode does Vortex operate in?
Chad9037
We installed two 40s, they are working in pairs at 50% power, but we are still searching... There is also a Tunze 6105 in the aquarium, all together they are slightly washing out the sand in some areas, so we will keep "playing around."
Tonya
Good day everyone!
It has been two months since the corals were planted in the aquarium. Some have grown quite well, while others have changed color a bit; here are photos for the record under different lighting. As always, there is a mess on the sand... I still have nowhere to relocate the small stuff.
David2398
Caleb6320
Beauty
Tatiana, in my opinion, there isn't enough light at the edges, and there's no excess in the center either... or is it just how the photos convey it...
If the reflectors are changed, it could add about 20 percent...
Lindsey3362
Thank you for the feedback and advice! The last photos were taken with just two lamps in the morning. Maybe the photo turned out a bit dark... But during the day, the six-lamp fixture is on, and the SPS are growing well, while the others are getting too much light for now as they adjust. Once they get used to it, we will hang a second fixture with four lamps. Initially, a light for 10 T5 lamps was made; the fixture turned out well, but it would have been inconvenient to maintain. We split it into two, so now the smaller one can be easily removed by one person if needed. The fixture has Dennerle reflectors—just amazing! Really good reflectors play a significant role!
Bryan1851
Tanya, what T5 do you have, and what is their order, that is, from the back wall to the front?
Amber6362
ATI white lamps 2 pcs, blue 3 pcs, and KZ Fuji red 1 pc. They are currently installed incorrectly; considering the second fixture, we will change the sequence. We have already purchased 2 ATI actinics and will try to remove or add something, as there are 12 lamps, so there is such an opportunity.
Aaron
AAAA I thought... I can't see well.
Then of course...
There's never too much light, Dennerly has decent reflectors, but you can get about 20% more if you use a different material with a higher reflection coefficient than what they use, so for the future, in case of a shortage, there are options.
Alan273
TATNA is great. Awesome aquas. Your lamps don't even stand a chance if I understood correctly.
Derek7322
Yes, he showed me the new material he is using to make reflectors. Honestly, I've never seen such aluminum (or whatever it was) before; you could put it in a dressing table instead of a mirror, and the reflection wouldn't change... I saw myself just like in a mirror.
Brandon4517
Thank you!
Everything is correct, just T5 lamps. The myths about the growth of SPS (small-polyped corals) have already been dispelled, especially regarding MH. Since the height of the niche did not allow for the installation of an MH fixture, T5 is the best option for us.
Our niche has certainly given us some extra trouble. We had to move the ballasts outside the fixture, which made it lighter and reduced the heating of the niche - aquarium.
Brianna
Thank you for the offer! It's a pity that when we were corresponding about the T5 lamp, you hadn't yet used the new reflectors for T5... who knows... who knows!
Brooke
The reflector costs no more than the lamp, and it wouldn't take long to change it if there is a desire... I can throw one in for a trial. There won't be a difference; you can return it.
Earl
Tanner
What is the point of replacing reflectors and why increase light output?
Michael826
ATI has three types of reflectors...
Reflector for Sun Power
Reflector for Powermodule
Superreflector incl. Clips
The first two are installed in ATI fixtures, with a width of about 6 cm.
Price ranges from 70 to 130
Superreflector - width is approximately 8 cm.
Dawn6148
I want to disagree!!!! What does harm mean with such a lamp design??? It's an ordinary lamp. The reflectors are perfectly aligned. And the lamps are not closer than the recommended 3 cm apart from each other. ...
Now regarding the advantages.
1 - The current light output is 480W for 600 liters, and it will be 800W. How much more do you need?
2 - For some, this may be an argument... our lamps are already ready. We have addressed the overheating issue differently, as I mentioned earlier.
Michelle9986
The ATI reflectors are excellent, but the ones sold separately with a width of 8 cm did not fit us in size.
Crystal
And the expression "there's no such thing as too much light" is a misconception!!!!
Laura3615
From this point on, in more detail.
James4342
we will also bring those that are 6 cm
Daniel9952
What is there to describe... different corals have different light preferences, I don't think there's anything new... It's not just about SPS corals. For this reason, I sold most of them.
Lisa
Any of our brightest lamps cannot compare to sunlight. Therefore, I consider the phrase "there's no such thing as too much light" justified.
Stefanie9771
I completely agree, but it can be incorrectly matched in terms of the spectrum; there is too much of some things and too little of others.
James4342
I'm a bad debater; I don't like it... But hasn't anyone encountered the situation when replacing bulbs with new ones, the acroporas start to decline? And when they are lowered, they often recover...
As for my stone with discs, it was almost right under the T5 lamps in the aquarium, but it's time to change them, and this is how the discs look now in the shade under the montipora and in the light.
And hasn't anyone come across recommendations in literature about at what level to place a particular coral?
James3382
Sometimes, sometimes there is no proper reproduction of the solar underwater spectrum, while the amount of lux can be quite excessive, causing the corals to try to hide.
Amy9618
Justified for which corals??? Some SPS corals indeed acquire a more vibrant color under MH, while others simply turn brown! I don't even think it's worth writing about LPS corals. There should be enough light. Not more and not less. This is naturally my opinion based on my personal observations.
PS Thoughts out loud about "there's no such thing as too much light": even if you light a 100-liter aquarium with 500 watts of MH, is that also "there's no such thing as too much light"??
Wendy
Easily. The only question that arises here is about profitability. The most vivid example is nature, noon, shallow waters. Everything lives and thrives, and this is not a tidal zone. What 500 can replicate that?
P.S. Still, there is no such thing as too much light, with a small caveat - with the correct selection of the spectrum.
Steven757
We are comparing two absolutely incomparable things! In nature, besides light, corals also feed on plankton. Moreover, they feed regularly, in the morning and in the evening. In an aquarium, it is simply impossible to replicate this! What color will acroporas turn under hellish MH lighting? BROWN!
Sarah5423
I don't even argue that it's unrealistic to achieve lighting like in nature... but do we really need it? Everyone knows what kind of lighting is good for corals in an aquarium, and it's not just about profitability. After all, the sea is not a cheap pleasure, and if adding two 400W MH lights to a 200L aquarium could lead to better growth and color, would that stop anyone? Alright, 800W for 200L, but how do you correctly choose the spectrum so that everything grows better than yesterday?
Rebecca
Before buying or making a lamp, I tried to figure out which reflectors are better... I even opened a topic, and opinions were divided.
Regarding overheating, we don't keep the lid closed all the time; it's been tested that even with six bulbs, the temperature rises by 2-3 degrees, and we checked this in the heat, so changing the reflectors won't solve the issue. By the way, I don't even think that your reflectors are bad! I'm just trying to explain that mine are already excellent!
Sherri1320
In my opinion, the discussion is about light. As for power supply, what prevents you from providing it (in terms of power, since there is already a choice)?
And that's another side of the coin. Of course, there's no point in lighting 100 liters with 500W bulbs.
Oh, and this is only through experience.
Katie4842
We made reflectors from two materials, and I saw the difference both in theory and in practice, and believe me, it's significant. Solving the overheating issue without a cooler, in your case, is probably just as difficult as installing one. What I would try to do in that case is to change the reflectors and settle on 6, at most 8 lamps. Installing ours or ATI makes little difference; it’s more about what is easier to fit in and the price of the "issue."
Hannah
We don't have any problems with the refrigerator installation, and the guys have taken everything into account at our request. We are not buying a refrigerator because there is no need for it yet; the air conditioners worked during the heat. Right now, it's 25 degrees in the apartment and 26-27 degrees in the aquarium.
Your last phrase is more related to the forum members, as I will repeat once again: I am very satisfied with my reflectors; they are incomparable to the previous homemade ones we had!
Gregory9432
I meant a slightly different device... I believe installing a refrigerator in an apartment is inhumane towards people. Here you can hear impressions of living together with this device, and if after that you still have the desire, you can buy it, I think at a good price.
Nancy
There are no impressions in this link.
Darlene4238
There is no link, but Larisa has it. If you're interested, I can give you her phone number.
Darlene4238
I imagine how Larisa fell on the stones. Kostya, who is a specialist, welded it well.
Andrea
I wonder why Larisa has disappeared...
Thank you, of course... there is indeed a lot of information, you can find both the pros and cons of refrigerators. For now, we are managing without one, but in the future, we are leaning towards Aquamed. Titan, but there is still time...
Ryan
Dmitry, you should be crying, not laughing!
I think there are too many stones... I'm curious to see this aquas now.
Chris
It's unlikely to appear here... She has an Aquamedic refrigerator (light, skimmer...), it didn't work for long, she asked for help to sell it... There is also an option with a new one (it remained unclaimed). I think the refrigerator should be installed... The question is which one. If there is a possibility to run copper outside, then it's better to install a split system. Larisa has an aquarium in the middle of the apartment, they did the renovation and still managed to set it up.
Laura3673
Well, what can I say... advertising is the engine of trade! I hope she is satisfied with your equipment.
I read the topic about the homemade "refrigerator," and I also saw your photo with that device in the hallway... I won't go for that. And calculating the costs of installing all this gadget in an apartment with renovations, I don't think it's worth it. I had enough trouble moving the wall for the new aquarium... with a makeshift shelter made of beams and everything that comes with it: dust, dirt, noise from the jackhammer, the problem of finding a roll of the same wallpaper... I could go on for a while. In general, Masha may be nice, but she's not for us!
Earl
He left from the corridor, the neighbors couldn't take it.
Whether it's worth it or not, you know better.
Perhaps Aquamedic will also become trouble-free...
Theresa5149
Very beautiful!
I don't know how your corals grow, but they look simply amazing!!!
Tanya, does the pink seriatopora get blown by the current a lot? I can't understand why mine doesn't want to grow like that.
Matthew7977
Hi Tanya. How often and what do you feed the tubastrea?
Andrea6761
Thank you! Seriatopora is not very well ventilated, which is why it doesn't grow quickly. Moreover, it was attacked by Valonia, so I had to detach it from the rock and torture it, which didn't help either! It's hard to say why it's not growing; I'm currently listening to my aquarium, noticing some moments, and trying to analyze and understand. After all, no one on any forum can say with 100% certainty what the reason is... everything is relative to each individual system. SPS do not like fluctuations in KH and calcium, so I try to keep them constant.
Anne4851
Hello! Ray, this is a sensitive topic for me... I'm currently feeding them, they eat frozen cyclops and artemia, and bloodworms. I need to buy something special in liquid form... otherwise, my fish are just terrorists. I used to feed them twice a day, now only in the evening.
Todd
Tan, what kind of coral is sticking out from the zoanthids in the third photo from the end?
Joshua9340
Katie5500
I really liked how the colors were chosen. Did you spend a long time redoing it, or was that the plan from the start?
Amber6362
Thank you! Color is not the only criterion for where the corals were placed; I think this will be noticeable in a year. The corals were purchased and, as seen in the photos at the beginning of the thread, they stood on the sand for two weeks while I mentally planned. But this is not the final look; as I buy new ones, which is not much left, we will be rearranging some.
Eric5208
Tanya, the aquarium is amazing, and what kind of lamps do you have now?
Ricky9405
Thank you!
Lamps: one - KZ fiji purple, two - ATI actinic blue, three - ATI blue plus, four - ATI aquablue spezial.
Catherine
In your opinion, did ATI Aquablue Special or KZ Fiji Purple emphasize the pink and red?
John
I'm afraid I misunderstood the question, so please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll rephrase it in my own way. "Which of these two lamps highlights the red color of corals?" My answer: For KZ, it's Fiji Purple, while ATI has its own lamp with a similar spectrum; just ask the Aqualight people, I just don't remember the name. The ATI Aquablue Special is a white lamp with 12000K.
Michael
Beauty!!!
George5104
Chic, shine, beauty!!!
Mark7376
Very interesting topic, please continue.
Eric8832
I believe that although the color scheme is good, everything is lost in this angle. It becomes almost an ordinary photo, even though it's of a beautiful aquarium.
Tatiana - only in full face, no profiles!!!!!
Diana3118
There are no friends in taste and color. The first two photos are just amazing.
Wesley
Tanya, I like it, it's clean, the corals are in excellent condition. It seems a bit yellow to me, but it's still beautiful.
Ashley5975
All the markers are different.
Phyllis
Did you believe in yourself at that moment?
Stephen
Any opinion is welcome!
But in this perspective, for some reason, I like it... It's hard to convey the colors with a point-and-shoot camera, even though I try...
Nicole263
Thank you. As I mentioned earlier, the Olympus camera... I set the white balance a bit reddish-yellow, without it everything looks blue, and that's how I'm struggling!
Chad231
I would have taken a photo from above too, but I have nothing to do it with... the corals on top are amazing!
Stephanie4990
tore... decided to finish it off...
By the way, the photos from above turn out very nice, it would be very interesting... especially with the inclusion of tridacna...
Michael826
In general, I take my hat off to Tanya and her attitude towards the back wall of the aquarium. At first, I really wanted Carolina to grow in my aquarium, but now the "depth" has gone because of that... And does the hedgehog work in the aquarium or is it all done by hand?
Derek7322
You're right, Yarik. The visual perspective is lost, and to be honest, it's not very pretty. Ideally, as I mentioned, a slightly shaded background would create an illusion of depth in the space. Although for some non-plot elements on the crest of the reef, it may not be very good in the background either.
Lindsey3628
Offtopic I saw several aquariums with a black background at Avalogo, and I really liked it.
Alan273
I wasn't joking! Really, the fields look great from above. But to capture this beauty, a special "box" is needed, which we don't have!
Craig7302
The question is purely individual. Some people are satisfied with an interior like a "blind wall," while others prefer elements of visual perspective. No one imposes anything on anyone. No matter how rapidly SPS and LPS, etc., grow, if necessary or desired, visual perspective can be arranged. This "marine flea market," by the way, is a good support. Thanks to such adjustments, the circle of enthusiasts for hermatypic corals is becoming increasingly broad. And as M.S. said, "...comrades, it is pleasing..."
Laura7633
Let Tanya decide, but in this system, it wasn't planned that way, in my opinion. There is space for fish, the prospect of depth, and a place for coral growths.
I disagree. This is the best aquarium on the forum.
Charles
I really want to achieve the concept of a "Bonsai Garden" in this aquarium, and I'm doing everything possible for that... but you can't go against nature, and you can't direct the current needed for each coral... but we'll be clever!
When corals outgrow, it's not always beautiful; I'm ready to sacrifice and replace them with new ones, but the aquarium should always bring joy!
I will clean the wall until my last breath!
Of course, this was not my goal, but thank you for the high praise!
Sheila
Off-topic. Every two weeks, I also take a stiff brush and clean everything that has accumulated on the rear window during that time. Down to the smallest details. I don't like it, in short, when there's even a Carolina on the back. It doesn't belong there...
Cynthia
Good evening, everyone!
There's a reason to appear in the thread; new residents have settled in the aquarium. Photos attached! I also took some shots of the old-timers...
The photographs were taken under different lighting conditions: with a red lamp, with actinics, and without red... it's very noticeable in the photos how lighting affects the colors of the corals...
Jennifer5784
I missed something - what's that interesting gorgonaria(?) in photos 1-4?
Monica
This is a non-photosynthetic Corkscrew gorgonian.
Patricia
Well, and ???
Of course, the questions:
1) Is it more difficult than, for example, tubastrea?
2) Feeding regime?
3) Aggression towards neighbors?
4) Attachment, fragility?
5) Coral activity?
Susan
Good questions! But I initially wrote NEWCOMERS! I'm still learning! But I can answer briefly.
1) no
2) if the system allows, at least every day.
3) rather to save from neighbors!
4) not fragile, like wire...
5) what is this about? If the question is when it is revealed? Then all day it's fluffy, but at night it's twice as big!
Eric8832
Junceella fragilis
Stephanie4990
I like mine more!
Corkscrew gorgonian
Junceella fragilis
Maria
Where was it bought? If it's protected by advertising, then the answer is in private messages.
P.S. Is there any noticeable growth rate? Has the queue for the fragment already formed?
Bryan1851
This is not Latin, it is a so-called "commercial" name.
This is the Latin name of your gorgonian, and the links are photos of the same coral in natural and aquarium conditions. I saw them live in the Red Sea, they look amazing, exactly like yours in the aquarium. Some are straight as a string, while others are spirals twisted almost into a knot. I think the shape depends on the strength of the current in a specific location.
Tracey
They were bought at the store, and they were brought... and as I understood it, by accident, instead of the usual gorgonians. So I think it makes sense to call them and find out.
As for the growth rate... you are quite the joker! They've only been in the aquarium for a week! But I can say that they recover from injuries on their bodies very quickly!
Nicholas5194
Well done, Tanya. She is moving forward by leaps and bounds.
Aaron6112
Why linger... there’s so much interesting stuff... the only problem is... the aquarium is too small!
Sarah5423
Tanya, the color and shape of the non-photosynthetic Corkscrew gorgonian is unusual, class. A dream.
Monique1236
Off-topic. I wouldn't say it's too small, but overall, I don't think it's a big problem to set up a ton. And it's not that difficult to solve it over time.
Rick
As I already wrote... there were such colors, I personally didn't see them, but it turned out over the phone that there was green and blue. I'm thinking of buying another one... I haven't decided on the color and place yet!
Anne
Unfortunately... or maybe happily, a larger aquarium won't fit in this apartment anymore... so we'll just have to "keep our mouths shut" when the next desires arise.
Kevin3579
Time flies quickly, and events have occurred that I am ready to share.
First, the good news!
For almost a month, the newcomers have been living in the aquarium, New Year's surprises from the Baltic and Moscow sea lovers, for which I am very grateful! All the little ones arrived without any problems, and it’s not that close... a whole day of travel. Everything has grown a bit, which is incredibly pleasing, but not everything has found its permanent place yet. I wonder if it’s just me being a bit unusual, rearranging everything... something always seems off. Here are a few photos of the little ones.
Andrea
Well, you're certainly not pleasant. Of course, this cannot contribute to anything positive when it comes to sensitive issues. That's for sure. The question is how such things can be offered to the mass consumer. Another example of shoddy work. And there seems to be no end to it...
Amanda5586
What does the hack job have to do with this?
Cheyenne2747
Dima, what else can you call a product that takes on this appearance during use in a marine aquarium? Or is it supposed to be like that? Then it's something else...
Chad231
It seems that it is not particularly intended for such an environment. Working environment. Hot water quality VDI 2035. Clean, liquid, non-aggressive, and explosion-proof media without mineral oils, solid or long-fiber inclusions. Liquids with kinematic viscosity up to 10 mm²/s. Ethylene glycol with a concentration of up to 40%. I think the Petersburg team has already analyzed these pumps in terms of logos. Both the plate and the slot seal rust there.
Lindsey3628
I have an OR3500 from Tanya. Right now, I actually have the second one, but the first one lasted over 2 years. I'm satisfied with it. The main thing is its noiselessness, and there are no metals.
Brandon9634
Then that changes everything...
Michael5242
These pumps are not originally designed for the sea, but craftsmen modified them, machining a spiral from some material, and off they went. Many people used them at sea and still do; they may be suitable for fishing or soft aquariums, but now I know for sure they are not suitable for SPS.
Joshua9340
And I...
Catherine6534
I described everything accurately and in detail, and I delved quite deeply into this topic regarding the pumps that I modified through the complete cycle, including the passivation of the rotor with a sleeve. There is practically no rust, but I still removed the excess iron from the SPS; it is likely harmful to corals, and it's also a hassle, meaning the modification.
Holly
This topic is about the logo:
We bought a refurbished pump a year ago, but later it turned out that the problem was not only with the volute, but also with some bolt... Unfortunately, the people who changed this bolt did not solve the problem either.
Rachael
It's a pity that you answered my question, to put it mildly, a bit differently. I have the message saved and can remind you in private. It's one thing when people don't ask or don't care, but when they ask directly... why didn't you tell the truth? I lost a precious month and could have lost the aquarium!

Tatiana, I looked at the correspondence, it was a normal response, I answered the truth as I knew it at that moment, and I still am not completely sure what effect this rust has on the aquarium. You also don't know this with absolute certainty. In the end, I only extracted the snail from this pump. And the response was: "Regarding the rust, I can't say anything, I have to rely only on my experience and the experience of other forum members."
John3142
Well, yes, I installed another pump, probably the tenth one of various models and brands on this aquarium, and it works quite well. As for today's version, since there is about a month between these messages, appropriate conclusions have been made; this is actually the experience I mentioned earlier in the same message. You can never be 100% sure about anything; a marine aquarium is a very complex ecosystem influenced by many factors. In any case, if the aquarium looks even better, I'm happy about that. There aren't many beautiful home reefs, so I wish it well-being and prosperity.
Tanya
Installing pumps and conducting experiments is your job; it brings you profit, and you should sell us a tested product! Moreover, you wrote above about what a marine aquarium is and how much it all costs. I think we can conclude the discussion; those who need to will draw their own conclusions. I thanked you for the good wishes above, and the same goes for your reef.
Maria6659
And yet, Tatiana, I want to clarify that I only made the snail, the choice of the pump was entirely yours, and it was indeed the most expensive Alpha2. I did not persuade anyone in any way; you approached me with a request to make the snail, which I did, and it worked as it should.
Thank you for your wishes regarding my reef.
Lynn4242
Tatiana, first of all, the topic is not mine; the author of the topic is beg from Prague, and it originated from their local forum. I just picked up the idea. I have always answered your questions about the harm to corals in the same way; there is no domestic experience, so we have to rely only on the experience from that Slovak forum and later on my own acquired experience. I agree, let's end it here.
Guy
Tanya, this is just great! The selection, the color. Best regards.
Cynthia6578
Tanya, !!! - Super! You did great!
The corals are beautifully colored!
I would love to see an overall shot.
What is the Kh in the system?
Vincent
Tanya, gorgeous photos!
The Chilean is amazing!
I see you decided to get some rugs.
How are they behaving? Not traveling?
Barbara8192
It's hard to say what metal alloys this pump is made of and what exactly it releases into the water along with the rust; I'm just satisfied that after changing the pump, the corals started to recover.
Leslie
Thank you. The general plan will be a bit later, I have my usual mess on the "floor," and let the corals recover. I keep the KH at 8-9.
Janet5447
Thank you. I held off for a long time regarding the mats... I couldn't resist! Mine are partially under the stone, as seen in the third photo, sitting still. I still don't quite understand what they like and what they don't, regarding the current and light. They eat frozen squid, but they haven't fully opened up yet.
Brandon4517
Perhaps the significant substitution of good water and salt led to an improvement in the condition.
James4757
The reason was sought, and there were also major substitutions... there was no result.
I found the reason for myself; if you have doubts and love to experiment, return the pump back, not all modified, but just like the one you sold me, only with a replaced volute.
John
Tatiana, good evening. What is the name of the coral in the 33rd photo on the right in the corner, the red one? Is it Blastomussa, am I correct?
Rachael
Yes, Martin, that's her. It's not the best photo of her, though.
Chelsea567
Tanya, what do you feed her? Thank you for your answer.
Troy8808
Could you tell me, in the first photo it looks like a green montipora with red spots, where did you get it and what is it called? Thank you.
Brent5588
She doesn't eat large pieces of anything. This coral from the soft aquascape, I liked it more there. The water wasn't as clear, and it had enough nutrients. Now I can sprinkle small pellets of dry food on it or pour the leftovers of food for tubastrea on it.
Elijah7048
If I understood correctly, we are talking about a Chilean, it's LPS Echinophyllia.
But it's not green, it's more blue with pink dots. Do monitors really distort colors that much? My husband took the last one, and unfortunately, they won't be bringing in more like that; otherwise, we would have taken another one.
Justin9867
I have the same pump - no problems.
Andrew9246
My Grundfos worked quite well for 8 months, and the problems started after half a year. So I think it's too early for you to draw conclusions, and besides, we have different pumps. I hope you won't have any issues with your pump!
Nancy
Tanya, are you not cleaning the windows right now? Or are there no cobwebs and other growths on the glass?
Amy9618
Well, why not, I clean it, it's just that I haven't had any thread for a long time... but there is a film on the glass in every aquarium. It's just that some have more and some have less. I clean the front glass every day; it's not a burden for me, and how can I not clean it? How else can I admire the corals? As for the back and side glass, I clean them once a week or every two weeks.
Danny
Do you manage with a magnet? If so, what about scratches on the glass? Outside and inside...
Stephen5841
I try to be careful, I don't reach the ground, but I clean everything below with another weaker magnet that has been modified... with a blade at the end. So far, I haven't noticed anything serious. Maybe it also depends on the quality of the glass? Our front windshield is made of tinted glass; if the Airof people come in, they can tell us what it's called. Maybe it's denser, but I'm not sure.
Mariah
When I set up the aquarium, the glass was without a single scratch. Now there are scratches everywhere, even on the outside, although I try to be as careful as possible, but it doesn't work. Maybe it's also because the glass is not tempered. During the renovation in the apartment, it seems that some dust particles got onto the magnet, which acted like sandpaper. I remember starting to clean the glass and... a 6 cm scratch appeared on the outside. It's unlikely that I can remove it now. And I don't even want to talk about the internal scratches. The deeper you go into the forest, the more firewood you find. Although I try my best.
Danielle9144
after I scratched the front glass quite deeply, right in the middle (a small piece got stuck between the fibers of the magnet) - I put on women's socks (like tights, they seem to be nylon), the denier doesn't matter, and now near the sand, I can only fix it with a blade-magnet
p.s. I don't seem to see any new scratches for now, or they are micro and not visible to the eye
Optivite glass
Jeffery7866
So, in response to my wife's question - "Why aren't you cleaning the glass?" I say - you see, the snails have laid their eggs - now the little ones will have something to eat!
I also, once every month or two, scrape off the green spots from the bottom with a blade. I don't risk using a magnet.
Angel2396
So, do you still cut diamonds in your free time? The scratch resistance of glass depends on the quality of the glass and the sand in the aquarium. It would be interesting to know which sand is less scratchy - aragonite or coral gravel. Any other options?
Melanie
Off-topic What is the difference between them?
Angela7060
Well, I also thought there was no difference in composition, but aragonite sand is white, while coral fragments darken over time. It would be interesting to know why...
Jacqueline5976
At the beginning of the setup, there was aragonite sand from the old aquarium, washed and dried, really white. However, it was too much disturbed by the worms, so I had to cover it with crushed material of 2-4 mm fraction. It has really darkened; it just sits there without movement, while the sand is constantly being stirred by someone, either the strombus or the current blowing it around, so it doesn't have time to darken. But that's just my opinion; I could be mistaken.
Derek7322
Stacy6866
Great aquarium! Could you please tell me where you got the Cirripathes sp spring? I'm very interested! Are there any special care conditions, since it's not a photosynthetic organism, right?
Mariah
The spiral was bought in Moscow. Unfortunately, we don't have such ones delivered here yet. There are no particular difficulties in keeping it; I feed it together with the tubastrea, which is also a non-photosynthetic. It arrived with a bare body a couple of centimeters long, and within three days, it was fully covered. It is growing and bringing us joy! If you have an aquarium with non-photosynthetic organisms, there will be no care required for it at all.
Stacey4437
Offtopic I saw a spiral at a.
Karen2578
I also sent everyone with questions there. But after a long conversation on the phone, it turned out that they don't transport bald ones and fluffy ones.
Meghan
I have only seen a piglet's tail in a closed state. Perhaps it is always like that and not as beautiful and fluffy as yours.
Richard
Here I am about that, and I really wanted it!
Adam4310
Tanya, your aquarium is very beautiful, my favorite.
Ricardo7341
Thank you, Egis! Your aquarium was one of the few that inspired the creation of SPS (small-polyped corals). And a special thanks for the advice on the technical aspects, from me and my husband.
Brent5588
I'll add - the best on the forum!!! I gathered my thoughts and wanted to create such a design for myself: nothing is working, the stones have completely fused together. I envy Tatiana with white envy.
Robert800
Stas, I really can't imagine how one can radically change everything in an established system; losses are inevitable, it's much easier in a new setup. The word "easier" is also relative... we struggled quite a bit with these constructions, especially the first time. It's practically impossible to calculate and predict everything; just the other day we leveled three stones, and I was tormented by those areas... and I can't say I'm satisfied with the result. The appearance is fine, but detritus has started to accumulate on the stone... but there's no way out, we'll have to blow it off before changing the water.
Caroline1599
Hi Stas, I think you are right about the Tanena aquarium. Stas, how is it not working out??? Maybe the desire is still weak. I had to move several already grown tanks, there is a lot of work, but if you prepare and start earlier, you can make the base in a day.
Stephen
In such a short time and with such colors... I'm blown away... Awesome, awesome...
Debra6575
Everything is amazing... From the stunning colors of the landscapes to the quality of the photos themselves...
Andrea8397
I photographed what I like the most, so everything is bright and beautiful, but there are corals that are not particularly pleasing in terms of growth and transformation. I think that at the initial stage, this is unavoidable; sometimes corals come in very unremarkable forms.
John828
Tatiana, the overall view would be...
Caroline1599
Words cannot describe all the beauty...
Scott8536
Not much has changed, but I think I'll do it in a week.
Bryan1851
I'll ask a few questions.
Do you use coal?
What chemistry is being used now?
Do you pour magnesium separately or is it enough from the reactor?
Tracy
No stress! I didn't add coal for the first five to six months, although there was some TM, I think, the one that lasts for three days, which I used from time to time. Then in December, I started using KZ 330 ml for a month... it lasted three months in a 1-liter container. Now I'm using Deltak.
Besides coal, there's Purigen, which also lasts about 3-4 months, just hanging in bags in the sump. I don't use anti-phosphate, and I never have. I don't add magnesium separately; it stays around 1350-1360.
I use KZ chemicals. In the initial stage, I added about 8-10 bottles. Now I add a little... I'm still experimenting. I'm observing what our corals like.
Sarah5423
I continue to strain. Coal and purigen, according to your observations, yield visible results??? In what cases or situations??
Judy
Live for a century, learn for a century. There are different opinions regarding coal and purigen, and all aquariums are different... Your system is closer to a technogenic one. That is, there is little rock, no algae, and everything mainly relies on the skimmer and chemistry (in my opinion). Therefore, most likely, you cannot do without coal.
Thomas1044
Do you put/hang the purigen in bags in the filter?
Regarding the coal: which Deltake do you use?
Sara
I want to repeat that I haven't used carbon for half a year, while the corals were smaller. I haven't used chemicals for about two months, and I didn't notice any disasters, but the polyps of Millepora, for example, have clearly become less elongated. Whether to use carbon or not is a personal decision, that's clear; I'm not advertising anything.
Tiffany5069
Nadia, that's exactly how it is, in a bag for the channel, as much as I can realistically do it.
Deltak coal in a five-liter bucket.
It's smaller than KZ.
Lee425
The magnificent aquarium, the colors... there are no words, just emotions!
Larry
Tanya, do you have a general view photo right now? I'm interested in the mats right on the sand. I want to think about the layout and lighting.
Erica752
There are no general photos yet, they will come later. The mats were sitting on the stones and then slid onto the sand; to be precise, they were on the stone with their feet, but when they eat, they burrow into the sand. They definitely don't need bright light, and the current ranged from weak to moderate, but I didn't notice any particular preferences...
Jacqueline6670
Brian6895
Off-topic, I am learning from you about color selection, etc., on all the forums where you are present. But I couldn't achieve trees like yours and then Sanya's - I just took some blocks and stupidly piled them up - like a goblin-blin...
Phyllis
As always - top-notch!!! It's time to showcase the best aquarium of the year at RiffCentral!
Tanya, I have a question - I see that not all LPS corals, but many are located in the lower part, and the Acanthastrea on the right is somewhat shaded - yet they look plump and happy. Are they always positioned there? Were they closer to the light before? What is the current like there?
And the mats are almost all in the sand... although it seems like they might be getting too much light there...
Was there an Alveopora, or am I confusing it with something else?
Alan273
I wouldn't have managed either; my husband assembled it under my careful guidance. I think you just ran out of patience; you both have more of it!
Kenneth7210
Well, that's really cool... I set a general plan as a wallpaper for myself, to start with...
Angel2396
Off-topic Let's push her to the exhibition! Let her beat the Chinese or the Thai, come on, given the current state of the system - it doesn't matter - SHE WILL WIN.
Sara4035
Wow... this is beautiful!!! Tai Chi and Chinese people are no longer competitors here!!!
Kellie
Taka, the sea is bomb!!! Drooling on the keyboard!
Chelsea567
Tanya, there are no words. Exclamation marks for 2 pages!
Sarah
Class, magnificent!
Aaron580
It's time to buy a pruner.
Jerry
Off-topic. It's especially amusing when "coolness," looking at such fantastic wonders, exclaims, "…and all of this is alive?!" "Yes…," they respond, "…it can't be."
You have to tap on the glass (the path is cleared and instantly closes), but still, they leave with a lot of doubt—mentality…
Helen
It is a great honor for our team.
Charles5941
Off-topic. It won't work, we have different weight categories!
Jamie3553
Class! It's noticeably feminine, just as elegant.
Kimberly2102
Tanya, what is that place where the little Friedman and the lower anti-ass are located, behind the green umbrellas and tubastria? Is it a Chilean or a simpler alcyonium?
Amber6362
If I understood correctly, this is a singularity. It's already very large; I even thought about removing it from the aquarium, but nothing suitable was found to replace it. Its photo is closer in the last pictures under number 12, and the chili is under 15.
Charles
No, I meant chili pepper. Although I also liked the chili sauce. I've already noted to look for information about it.
Robert1845
Beauty.... A question about light - in your opinion, do you have the optimal amount of light in your aquarium, or does experience lead to a desire to decrease or increase it?
Helen
I don't even know what to say. I don't have much experience... The second light fixture with 4 bulbs has only been working since December, and it doesn't shine quite normally. Two bulbs didn't light up right away, the ballast failed... we replaced it, and now after 3-4 hours of being on, the other two bulbs go out. So it's hard to say how much light there really is in the aquarium, but what is there is satisfactory. I definitely don't want to add more. Everything else depends on the bulbs and reflectors, as you know.
Erin
Mike
Super photo and umbrellas, so beautiful!!!! Do you happen to have any of them for sale?
Alyssa1438
These umbrellas are amazing!!! So, maybe you can advise me on the next question - I got the umbrellas as a bonus with the live rocks, Igor put them in the package. So, they are sitting on a vertical rock like an index finger up to the first joint - like a little tower - and I see them everywhere sitting on turtle-shaped rocks - is it normal for them to be vertical? Or should they be arranged differently???
Yesterday, following your advice, I fed them as you taught me - today they seem to look livelier.
Caroline1599
Only a grove for now!
Susan9583
If you don't like the vertical shape of the stone with umbrellas, try placing this "finger" on a separate stone with the side where there are fewer umbrellas or none at all. Then, as the colony develops successfully, they will crawl onto the stone beneath them, and the colony will take on a different shape. But it's all a matter of taste; the umbrellas can also grow vertically, as long as there is enough light.
John3335
Wow!!!
Mariah
Super!!!!!!!! It looks like in the pictures......
Christine864
Well done!!! Beautiful aquarium, beautiful photos.
Crystal4879
Stas, I found your old message. Honestly, I didn't think I would dare to do this, it's been a whole year... Serious support for marine aquarium enthusiasts.
Corey3201
Rifcentral, you, Tanya, have torn them into tiny pieces! It's just that you indulge them with photos more than us. I mean macro.
Jessica
No, the photos are the same as on our forum, it's just that they are inserted in such a program and appear large right away, while on our site they need to be opened.
Kenneth7331
Super mega awesome aquarium!!!
Rick
awesome!
John828
Good evening, everyone! A bit of news. The battle with cyanobacteria in the aquarium continues; we are still patiently siphoning once a week. The attempt to get rid of it using a remover was unsuccessful, most likely due to reducing the dosage by half... it was a bit scary. After adding some crumbs to the calcium reactor, the water parameters changed slightly. I'm observing for now; maybe the corals will like it more. To refresh the topic, I'll post a few photos, though taken with my point-and-shoot camera.
Richard2180
No words, only emotions of admiration.. BRAVO...
John3335
So beautiful! My jaw dropped, my hands went numb, I can't type!
Richard2180
Which crumb did you take? How much did you add in percentage? If it's not a terrible secret, what are your current KN, RN, CA, MG? If necessary, can this be in private? I'm just starting to master KR, and it's very important for me to compare my test results with such a top-notch sea.
P.S. As always, we admire your Reef!
Matthew7977
Wow, this is beautiful. No words.
Jennifer7159
I wonder what a Dog is doing in such a clean aquarium? You wouldn't say it's a soap dish from the photo. Professionally done!
John5528
Cool aquarium!!! I'm especially pleased that the dimensions are almost the same as mine.
Jennifer7578
was purchased at the launch, both large and small:
In percentage terms between small and large, it's 50/50. We simply added exactly half of what was left... to the full flask. I have no secrets, I always provide complete information about my reef to everyone who asks in private messages or by phone.
Now:
KH - 9
Calcium - 480
Magnesium - 1500
pH - 8-8.2
Two weeks ago:
KH - 7
Calcium - 460
Magnesium - 1360
pH - 8-8.2.
Courtney4094
The photo was taken after cleaning the side and rear windows... for two weeks the windows have been kissed by the dog, and she enjoys eating the flakes with great pleasure...
Jason9385
My fish also sticks out from the flakes )))) And from the artemia too. I gave them tubifex as an experiment - they eat it and even crackle behind their gills.
Jeffrey6189
Tanya, that's gorgeous!!! Tomorrow I think I'll go to the store, buy some stones, and sculpt a branch just like yours =)
Linda
a beautiful montipora with blue growth lines. I would sell it)
Eric5208
Tanya, you know, you administered half the dose of the cyan treatment, and it was not in vain. I administered a full dose, and as a result, 2 acres turned brown. This is the hedgehog that you have white without blue tips; my acre turned into a uniform brown color, and the second bald coral changed from neon green to brown. But at least there is no cyan. I think the most optimal option will be about 75% of the full dose. As for the aquarium, in one word, AMAZING!
Phyllis
There's really nothing to break yet... As for the blue ones, I think they look more bluish... it wasn't always like that. I bought the frag on the forum, and it was gray-green; I didn't even hope it would turn out like this... and I kept looking for one with a blue rim. As I was told, in the owner's aquarium it had a pink rim...
Susan9583
Well, go figure out now how much it costs and whether it's worth it at all!
Monique1236
I tried this medication on myself, even added a bit more than the recommended dose (noticed it a bit late). It seems nothing died off, the foam was crazy for three days, the cyanobacteria disappeared by the second day, and I had to remove it mechanically from some rocks. This is not an advertisement, but I can't insist on its use either; I've read that there are negative reviews as well. Good luck.
Nancy758
Oleg, you are just a masochist. Why did you have to do that to yourself? The rest of the text with symptoms is even scary to quote.
Cynthia
You have the best aquarium on the forum!!!
Please tell us more about this method of dealing with cyano.
Barbara8192
There's not much to tell... The siphoning is not a direct fight against cyanobacteria, rather it's for my own peace of mind; the less you see this nuisance, the less you worry... Previously, we changed all the filters and resin... it stopped reducing the already negligible nitrates, and I started waiting in hope that everything would settle down... Once a week, during water changes, we siphon out with a thin tube what has grown over the week... and replace it with fresh water. So far, I can't boast about a stunning result, but the cyanobacteria have changed color and are a bit less.
John
Tanya, I'm afraid this isn't something you can do in your aquarium, but you can eliminate cyanobacteria in 3-4 weeks by using "old water." That is, attach a sponge to the drain hose, siphon out the cyanobacteria. Discard the sponge and pour the old but clean water back into the aquarium. This has helped many people.
Laura3615
I just return the water to the aquarium through a fine net. The cyano "loves" water changes...
Amy
Under the microscope, cyanobacteria appear as thin, moving threads; if you break a thread, hundreds of pores of this muck come out. To prevent these pores from returning to the aquarium, the water in the bucket needs to be passed through UV for about half an hour.
Cynthia
Oleg, it was necessary to remove mechanically before adding the medication, and the more, the better. There is a suggestion that the less cyanide present when adding the medication, the easier the aquarium tolerates this procedure.
Courtney
For a couple of months, we did just that, letting the water settle and then filtering it, but it didn't yield any results... That's why we decided to pour in new water, but only after changing all the filters and cartridges.
In general... this issue was also discussed in my thread on Logo, where they are categorically against pouring old filtered water.
James5103
This would probably be the ideal option, but we don't have UV, and we haven't planned to buy it yet.
Susan1358
Tanya, I already have it, you will need to take it.
Sherri1320
Once again, I am convinced that the reasons for the appearance of cyanobacteria in different systems are different, and probably the difficulty in getting rid of it increases precisely because of this.
---There is no algae eater, and there is no way to do it.
---Nitrates were at 5, I brought them down to 0 and at the same time stirred up the sand... cyanobacteria appeared.
---The Salifert test shows phosphates at 0, unfortunately, I have no way to measure phosphates with the Hanna meter...
Many people say: change the bulbs to new ones because cyanobacteria appeared due to changes in the spectrum. But new bulbs shine brighter... Where is the truth when analyzing your message?
Brandon4517
Cyanobacteria in a marine aquarium is quite an unpredictable phenomenon; in each aquarium, the struggle against them can be unique. Some people have almost none, while others may struggle to get rid of them for a year or more. It is necessary to try a combination of measures. Start with the lighting; perhaps something needs to be adjusted with the lights (changing bulbs, altering the spectrum, reducing their number temporarily, changing the photoperiod). It may also be helpful to change the salt while doing a water change of up to 50%, adjust the flow, and there are many other factors that can vary in each aquarium.
Brandon4517
Here, here... I'm thinking the same. Yes, I think I already wrote about the light...
They were changed first of all, back in February-March...
I removed the red lamp not so long ago...
There were 10 pieces, now there are 8, and I changed them gradually.
The actinic and blue lights burn for 13 hours as before, just two lamps. The others burned for 7-9 hours, now 5-7... the switching is divided into three stages.
Does anyone have complaints about the TM regarding the reef?
My cyano loves strong currents, or rather it doesn't care whether it's strong or weak... it changes locations from time to time, regardless of the current.
Yes, I'm trying to figure it out in this mess!
Ross
It seems to be a matter of the spectrum.
And some organics.
Overall, we start to relax, feed a lot, add something without always monitoring the parameters, and that's how the "sides" in the aquarium come out.
Tanya, I'm not talking about your aquarium. Just observations about my actions and the aquariums of forum members.
Joseph8592
Try changing the salt anyway, and when changing the water, sift the substrate. Someone suggested this to me a long time ago, and it worked.
Stacey4437
The lamps were all the same, I changed one for another, the spectrum of the aquarium lamp was fine... The only lamp that was different during the change was the red ATI; before that, there was a Fuji, but I already mentioned it was removed and I'm waiting for the results...
Selena4467
I've been using this salt since the beginning of the launch... I don't think there's any point. But after siphoning, the cyanobacterial crumbs have indeed worsened!!!!!!!!
Deborah2682
Well, all possible measures were taken...
I hope you are rinsing the frozen food?
That's how it should behave... after the power goes out, it disappears...
Michelle
It doesn't disappear but shrinks from threads into lumps.
Brent8919
I had no idea that it needed to be done this way - I swear. I fill a glass with water from the aquarium or from the sink when I was treating, throw in some frozen food and wait for it to thaw - then I pour it into the aquarium. Everything was fine until I started feeding.
And how do I rinse it? I mean, with what water??? What should I use to rinse it? A net?
Destiny
A friend defrosts it, then soaks it in osmosis, then pours seawater over it, waits for it to sink, and only then feeds it... I defrost it directly in seawater and feed it.
Carrie1606
Well, I do it like that.
Jason9952
I wrote this figuratively... it's just almost not visible after the lights are turned off. We even try to vacuum at the peak time, which is 5-8 PM, before turning off the main lights.
Veronica
If there is a good foam and one softness, then it may not be worth worrying. But if there are already problems with the water, then oh no!!!!!!
Stefanie9771
The thing is that GH shows excellent water for NO3-PO4 - and it exists. Your nitrates at least show something. What I'm saying is that we all have different conditions, but cyanobacteria is the same. Well, I still blame my very young aquarium, which is 4 months old.
Stephen
Problems with water... I meant the presence of some kind of nastiness in the aquarium, cyanobacteria, dinoflagellates, diatoms... My nitrate levels also show nothing, I was told not to trust the phosphate test, and I don't have a test for organics.
That's right, your aquarium is maturing, and mine is too after changing the sand...
Amy
Can we use "you"???
So, what exactly can kill these creatures besides chemicals??? There are no nitrates, so what are they eating? Could it really be pure photosynthetic organisms??? I read and read, and everywhere it says that depriving them of nitrates will be their end - but I have zero, two tests show JBL and Salifert - organic matter is excessive - so nitrates should have shown up.
I think siphoning is self-deception - by the way, I siphoned an hour ago, and specifically, using a siphon - and there they are, already popping up.
April3499
Have you checked the water for silicates? You won't have diatoms from Artemia.
Laura9093
Each person's war with cyanobacteria is unique because there are over 1000 species, each with its own characteristics. Cyanobacteria feed through photosynthesis. Moreover, changes in the light spectrum of lamps do not hinder them—they adapt to any conditions, even changing their color. Growth occurs through nitrogen fixation, i.e., the retention of free CO2 and the use of photosynthetic energy for its assimilation. Do you all have CO2 reactors? There is CO2. Of course, it's a risky idea, but could it be temporarily stopped to combat cyanobacteria?
Alec9378
What is not there is not there... with the appearance of this nuisance, I keep thinking about buying it.
I have it, but at the time the nuisance developed, it was upright; it stood for a week, and for a week they have been coming out.
Catherine
Cyanos do not consume silicates. Diatoms like silicates because they build their skeletons from silicon. Completely darkening the tank is no longer suitable - it will be the end for the animals. The only option left is to remove the excess free CO2. Cyanobacteria do not absorb anything else, so testing for silicates will most likely show 0.
Russell8484
Wait a minute.....
In the aquarium, there are 60 SPS and 20 LPS (large-polyp corals) and so on..... Maybe we shouldn't conduct such experiments on someone else's aquariums?
Lindsay
I checked the zeros! The advice to rinse the artemia was not given as a panacea for cyanobacteria or diatoms; the water is definitely getting contaminated... what will come out next, dinoflagellates, cyanobacteria, or nitrates, is anyone's guess. And to avoid biting my nails, I rinse!
Nicholas2252
I would spend it on my own, but I don't have cyan. As well as KR and 60 pieces of SPS, 20 pieces of LPS (large-polyp corals) and so on...
Larry
Sure!
Chemistry didn't help me, maybe because it was an incomplete dose...
I wrote about siphoning and self-deception, or rather self-soothing.
In my aquarium, this nuisance has changed its form; I don't know what it's called now... it seems like cyanobacteria is giving way to diatoms... I'm waiting...
Elijah7048
So it needs to be purchased!
Anna9752
So... forgive me, Taka, but I'm really confused with the classifications - what the heck is this?????? The monitors are calibrated differently - that's why I'm saying - it's brown.
Andrea
, acquire cyano?
, It looks like cyano, it should be brown-green (although it can vary in color depending on the lighting for each person). However, you also need to consider the consistency. Cyano should look like slime. Diatoms are also brownish, but they resemble more of a film.
Karen81
Are there also dry reef rocks in the aquarium besides live rocks?
Melissa3200
As far as I understand, the scariest thing is these dinos, how to identify them has been written many times on the Logo Karen. Look for it on the forum... it's not difficult, fill the aquarium with filtered water from this stuff, and place it in a bright spot, and if it is them, then in a couple of hours the whole aquarium will be in "slime." I checked, I was spared from this trouble...
Cyanos can be of different colors, it's not for nothing that they are called blue-green... and brown ones can also occur.
Kevin262
If this is a question for me, I hope that my dry reef rocks can no longer be called that, they've been in the aquarium since October.
Well, why only cyanobacteria? For the completeness of the experiment, the whole set is needed!
Sydney
This is a type of cyanobacteria for you; under the microscope, the filaments have a greenish-brown color. They have been present in the aquarium for about 1-2 months, and when water is changed and stirred, the situation only worsens. If you don't stir and don't change the water, they will go away on their own without a trace.
Tanya, I apologize for being in your thread.
Susan9583
Thank you, friends - with your knowledge and experience, I have finally figured out the reason for my "breakdown." To avoid cluttering the thread, I will write in my own.
Robert800
You have corals and zoanthids placed on platforms. These, in turn, are made of crushed material and cement. As far as I know, cement contains silicates, which are released into the aquarium in very small doses; this may be the reason for the growth of cyanobacteria?
Chad9037
The coral plugs are indeed made with the addition of cement, either white or regular, but the salifert test shows zero for silicates in the aquarium. To eliminate the inaccuracy of the test, I decided to conduct an experiment... I placed about ten plugs in 1 liter of aquarium water and measured the silicates after three hours. The concentration of silicates in the bucket should be 700 times higher. I am attaching a photo.
Maybe I should have left them in longer, but I think something should have shown up even in that time...
Todd8452
So WE can't be wrong. Then I missed this - where in the aquarium is the cyanobacteria present? In what place?
Robert5335
What relation do silicates have to cyano? Cyano could have appeared due to an overdose of amino acids, potassium iodide, etc.
Leslie
This is definitely not cyanobacteria, most likely diatoms, and cyanobacteria can be treated with Red Slim.
Andrea8397
Can you decode this message? I can't grasp... what exactly you wanted to say?
I will respond to the second part of the message with the photos in the evening, as well as to all the unanswered ones.
Bridget
Paul
Thank you for your thoughts! But let's discuss my aquarium.
1. Did you understand what the reasons for their formation were in my case?
2. You already wrote about the light, and unfortunately, you didn't answer my question; perhaps you didn't notice it.
3. How can such a large amount of phosphates enter the aquarium in just a few days?
4. There seems to be something inconsistent in this statement... There is Deltec carbon in the aquarium, which is claimed to be anti-phosphate, and I change it every 25-28 days. So, the reasons are still not in the phosphates?
Patricia
But that's not my case either; at that time, I was bleeding five times less than usual...
Barbara8192
As far as I can see in the photo, are you referring to the grayish dust? I have a little of that too. I don't pay much attention to it. By cyan, I mean a thin red-raspberry film (coating). Are we talking about different things?
Maria6659
No, I wrote that it was... and enough, in my opinion. This photo is after siphoning for two days, and the strombus worked as well. And I mentioned earlier that it has decreased and now looks like a mixture with diatoms.
Here is a photo of what it was like before. Karen saw these pictures, and I do not doubt her opinion.
Cyanobacteria do not have to be pink!!!!!! In my old aquarium, it transitioned from pink to green and then disappeared; by the way, there was nothing with the sump or the caulerpa and hitamorph.
Randall7906
I feed them twice a day, but a little at a time, making sure everything is eaten up...
The hairs from the cyano lie horizontally to the sand due to the current..., and I have already written that it exists in different areas and with stronger currents as well...
Well, finally we made it! Now we can go into more detail!
John
Well, regarding the first point, you shouldn't even expect "knowledgeable sailors"... Aerobic bacteria that participate in the nitrogen cycle live in the upper layer of the soil. If you removed this layer after or during maturation, you removed a mass of bacteria living there. In general, the soil should be disturbed as little as possible. So you are right - cyanobacteria are a result of an imbalance. As for food, it's just a conclusion: it could indeed be excess organic matter and food not for beneficial bacteria, but for cyanobacteria.
Tara2761
At the bottom, there was a layer of aragonite sand (how many cm?), and on top of it, they added crushed material? What was the purpose? Then the crushed material was removed?
I generally think the topic of sand versus crushed material should be discussed separately.
With your load, I can't even imagine what kind of filtration could handle it... For now, we need to minimize feeding and not do anything in the aquarium, not add anything. In a month, the trend will be visible. I wouldn't add food for the bacteria. They already have enough to eat; let them reproduce gradually. It might be possible to turn off the UV. Changes for the better happen slowly, but for the worse, quickly. Good luck!
Jeffery
There is no UV in the aquarium! I haven't been adding the start for a long time... Thank you all for the discussion! I hope this conversation has helped at least someone clarify the reasons for the appearance of cyanobacteria. I have already taken all or almost all possible measures a long time ago, and now I'm just waiting. I didn't bring up the topic myself, I just answered a question, but I'm glad that such a fruitful conversation took place!
John3142
Tanya, everything will be fine, don't rush the process with chemicals, the reef will manage on its own, it will just take a bit more time, but the system will be more stable.
Phillip9722
Not all of them. Aerobic bacteria also live on the surface and at a shallow depth of the substrate (living stones) or other porous materials. However, the majority of them are found in the soil, as almost every grain of sand is coated with them at a depth of 1-2 cm. Deeper in the soil (rocks), anaerobic bacteria live.
Joseph8592
Consider the option of installing Sber.
In my opinion, Sber perfectly balances the system and removes the lower ones from the aquarium.
Kevin3579
The article I shared a link to discusses this in great detail, but there are probably other opinions as well.
Jonathon8514
Thank you, of course, but you probably haven't read much about Sber. Unfortunately, not everyone can get rid of the lower levels with the help of this device. The best way to balance the system is stability!
Michelle13
In my opinion, there is another important point. The fish we put in the aquarium are usually very young, almost fry. They still have a long way to grow to adulthood. And most importantly, they need to be fed often and with a variety of food. This primarily affects their immunity, and well-fed fish also look more beautiful. On the other hand, feeding fish several times a day and in large quantities in a SPS tank can be problematic. Therefore, the conclusion is that it is preferable to introduce already adult, sexually mature fish into a SPS tank, if possible.
Martha
You can also replace the pen with a more powerful one.
Jesse3979
Sorry for the off-topic, but where were the dry reef rocks in 1992?
Melissa
Yes, with the filter, you also need to increase the volume of the aquarium, as per the link, and only after that add the fish.
Andrea9320
I won't argue!
Adam
Well, let's say another option is 70% live rocks and 30% dry reef rocks. There are plenty of aquariums like that! So I'm not entirely sure that by gluing the columns and attaching the corals we are disrupting the filtration to such an extent that it could somehow affect the aquarium as a whole...
Dana4701
These were "corals" bought from speculators at the market: acroporas, pocilloporids, fungias. Of course, we're talking about skeletons. And stones: limestone, tuff, from the shipment two years ago from Vasilyevka. (Kakhovka VDH). This is such dry reef stone.
Rachel9060
I have no experience with marine aquariums and have had my aquarium for only four months. It was started with live sand taken from a stable aquarium, 10 kg of live rock, and 20 kg of dry reef rock (aerif). Last month, I added another 60 kg of dry reef rock. There have been no algae blooms, especially not any severe ones. The only thing I've noticed is a small amount of slime on the glass, but I attribute that to feeding the system with sugar.
Curtis9143
I am trying to understand, and I am in no way nitpicking your statements, but perhaps your earlier message is not entirely correct. If the aquarium has 100% live rocks, but 20-30% of them are "glued," then nothing fatal will happen, as you agreed above. You have vast experience, but sometimes you are very categorical, and time is relentlessly moving forward...
Aaron580
In your case, one live sand is already something. Moreover, there are also 10 kg of live rocks. There's nothing surprising, especially since the rocks seem to be of good quality, and they probably managed the lighting well. And they populated the aquarium according to the rules. It's a pity not everyone is so lucky.
Yvette209
Tanya, look for the reason for the appearance, not how to deal with the consequences. It may be the accumulation of organic matter as a result of insufficient biological water treatment or the maturation of the system after rearrangements, adding living organisms, removing a layer of sand, etc. See what was done before this issue appeared, and you will find the cause.
Amy
Hello everyone!
I haven't written about life in the aquarium for a while, and there has been both good and bad... The refractometer broke, and the salinity was around 40 for more than a month or two... The corals reacted differently to this; some didn't even notice. But mostly, the fluffiness decreased, the skirts started to dry out, and the color faded... I did lose three or four frags, and the saddest among them was my favorite yellow one.
On the bright side, a frag tank appeared, for which I am especially grateful to Sasha (CaNeK). Now the system has increased by 54 liters.
And here are a few fresh photos.
Laura9093
The footage is super.
Frederick
Wow!!!! I thought that such salt would lead to disaster - it turns out there is a reserve of resilience.
And how's the battle with cyanobacteria??? Did you manage to fight it off??? How did it resolve or did it go away on its own?
Tami
I will try to answer for Taku. Sanya, like an tireless fighter who has honed his skills in battling the lower ones, take a close look at the overall photo of her aquarium, and not just that. There are all the answers to all the questions. There is no cyanobacteria, except for a small patch in the bottom left, but that is just the last gasps of it.
Michelle5859
So it's interesting - How???
Curtis9143
It depends on the aquarium, I guess. Some people maintain that salinity from the start, and everything is fine, but this is more common with soft... More attentive, and almost everything has been answered! We haven't siphoned the sand for three weeks; the remnants are visible, although not only in the left corner, but there are few of them... Earlier, such growths appeared on the third day, but I'm not celebrating victory yet! Besides what I listed above, I haven't done anything, just waiting.
Jeffrey496
Looking at the overall appearance of the aquarium, I suddenly felt as if I had started to breathe as if I were wearing a snorkel mask. What more can I add?
Charles5941
I envy you... in a good way, I haven't breathed like that even once...
Michael3221
It seems to be a paradigm - an axiom - that's how it actually turns out - just calmness and just calmness, with the right approach and understanding of the processes - but for someone, it suddenly ended in three days and they used "some remover"...
Andrea6761
Off-topic. My wife didn't dive until she was 50 because she was afraid. But once she saw the fish and corals, she forgot about her fear and couldn't be pulled out of the water. So maybe everything is still ahead?
Susan
Off-topic I have a problem with airplanes, the last time I flew was at seven years old... they barely revived me, and I just can't bring myself to do it. Although I tried last year, but a volcano got in the way, and later it didn't work out... I'm starting to think maybe it was for a reason...
Larry
Off-topic. Just no mysticism and supernatural forces! Better to stick to the Torah. Could it have been childish? I've outgrown it!
Daniel
It's already behind! The flight took place! We were in Sharm, a sea of impressions, a lot of fish, the corals are not very colorful, but their sizes are impressive!
I haven't seen the aquarium for two weeks, the viewing glass has grown quite overgrown, but everything seems to be fine..
Photos for the story:
Richard2180
I'm sincerely happy for you, congratulations!
Which hotel? Did you manage to see the beauty with the mask on? Will there be photos?
Brian6895
Thank you!
Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort 5*. I liked everything, saying I went diving is an exaggeration, it was more like swimming with a mask and snorkel. I managed to do that a couple of times, but it was stormy... but that was enough for me! My men actually swam and even took some photos... but it's hard to get the hang of using a point-and-shoot camera in a box... I'll try to pick something and post it in the thread if you're interested.
Amy5070
The photo turned out very surreal. It looks AMAZING.
Andrew4194
There is something incomprehensible about Tanya in this photo, even feeling sorry for the lower ones, however...
Barbara
Off-topic, Tanya has such a gorgeous aquarium that even the lower species look magnificent!
Stefanie9771
Jessica9188
Amy9618
It is interesting whether there is a desire to change or redo something in your aquarium after seeing the natural sea.
Cassandra7840
Cynthia6578
No, it hasn't appeared... maybe I tried too hard creating my own sea, or maybe I swam in the wrong place. The fish, of course, are mesmerizing... but... our aquariums are not suitable for them, they will be too small!
Jeffrey
Do we need a 5-ton aquarium?))))
Shelby3182
Well, it depends on the person. Recently, my wife "dove" into the aquarium. She says, "salty, damn, like the Red Sea."
Tasha
You need to see the corals in Dahab while scuba diving. After that, anyone will definitely want to redesign their aquarium, and those who don't have a marine one should urgently set one up.
Joshua9340
You can tell more about Dahab, photos are welcome. I swam with a mask for the first time this year, and you’re telling me about scuba!!!! By the way, my son got his PADI certification, let's see, maybe I'll decide to do it too.....
David4968
I just recently bought an underwater camera; before that, I was just an observer. So the photos will only be taken in winter.
I need to decide on the course. In winter, I can complete the theory and confined water training for OWD in the pool, and then go to the sea for 2 days at a dive center to complete the open water training, pass a trivial exam, and then I can feel like a certified diver.
Rodney3101
You need to do an "advance" right away; just "open water" is not enough. All the interest in diving starts at 20 meters...
Courtney
What is there to see at such a depth? It seems that all the corals are located closer to the surface...
Heather9815
At such depths, people usually dive to take a look. The main deposits of corals are at a depth of up to 20 meters. Although I agree, the AOWD level wouldn't hurt. It can be completed right after OWD without straying from the reef.
Kimberly4253
I wouldn't say that... on the surface, everything is just more colorful, and this beauty on the surface can be enjoyed with a mask and snorkel, without OWD.
Diving is something completely different... sure, the colors aren't the same, but you can see many more animals... plus, there's "nitrogen narcosis."
An advanced certification is at least needed for night diving.
Diana8604
photo 11.... it's something) greetings to the robbers)))
Brian7092
With a mask and snorkel, you can't really "swim around" back and forth; it's definitely better with scuba (what a trendy word), but that's if you have the choice between a mask or a tank. But if, like me, the choice was between a mask or staying close to the shore, then the mask is definitely the way to go.
The photo is awesome!
Rachel9060
Exactly from the back. I understand you are talking about this Hilton? Although there seem to be several in Sharm... about five Hiltons...
I have no impressions yet... the aquarium is still unopened. I was scared that I need to keep it in a reactor, but I don't have one. I haven't had time to focus on this... And the corals are currently starving, the light ones, I'm afraid to harm them.
Stephen5841
I feel that soon there will be one more diver! It's a very beautiful hobby... We've spammed the thread))) I want to see a photo of your aquarium)))
Bridget
I won't argue!
So it's off-topic, but it's my topic.
The fact that I don't show the aquarium is partly your fault, even if indirectly. Denis is aware, and what about the unglued corals on the bottom, it's a mess... I bought epoxy today, we'll start working on it next week... then there will be photos of the overall view.
Emma
Tatiana, I saw a mandarin fish in your first aquarium. But there isn't one in this one, as far as I can see? Why?
Jennifer5784
Oh... a sad story happened with the mandarin, it took place a couple of months ago. The mandarin lived happily for about 1.5 years in the first aquarium and almost as long in the second. I had the idea to introduce a lady to him, to make the old man happy... I regret it to this day... I bought a girl, on the second attempt, the first fish was returned because it was clearly a boy. The second one came in a battered state... the mandarin wouldn't leave her side, she kept running away... I thought it was just for show... it turned out to be a boy too. And when he got stronger and grew back all his damaged fins, he attacked the old man right in front of my eyes.
So that's the sad story.
Kimberly
Ah! So, when the first aquarium was launched, that first one survived? You mentioned that it was released too early, and it had little food, so I was shy to ask. So, there is still one now. Next time you post photos, please take a picture of it - I've never seen a more beautiful fish in my life.
Justin9867
I survived quite well, but I was lucky; I started using bloodworms and then frozen brine shrimp. If this doesn't happen, they often don't survive in young aquariums. You can take a picture of her, but you need to sit by the aquarium for a while to get a good shot. If I have time, I'll do it; maybe I'll rummage through old photos...
Matthew
As always, it's beautiful, the colors are simply stunning, there's so much to admire!
Joseph8592
What a beauty and order, the colors are simply wonderful.
Anthony7814
Tanechka, as always, the aqua is at the highest level. Well done!
Laura3615
Good afternoon! Yes, the colors are great, and the aquarium is original! There's a lot to learn! Tatiana has a question for you. What do you feed the fish and what supplements do you use? If possible, please provide more details, especially about the KZ! I am planning to restart the aquarium from 400 liters to 800 liters, and I have no experience with SPS, so I'm gathering information!
David4089
Tanya, drool is flowing on the keyboard—I can't take my eyes off!
Destiny
This aquarium is amazing, super ultra thermonuclear! Tatiana, how do you feed the spiral individually, and how much have you increased in size since you acquired it? I mainly sprinkle live nauplii in mine, but since September it's still unclear whether it's growing or not, although it looks fine externally, always open.
Randy
Maybe I'm wrong for writing here, I usually write where I'm asked... I definitely wrote on the RC. Anything is possible... I'm talking about the snow with the tank, but it specifically didn't help me. I also took all possible measures, I described everything in the topic. With snow, such caution is excessive; if necessary, its single dose can be increased almost four times from the recommended dose. I love this medication, or rather, my corals love it.
David7773
Good evening!
I liked your topic! It's substantial, and most importantly, it has a result that is pleasing to look at.
I didn't find or missed it - what was the stone originally glued to (in terms of construction)?
Stuart
Good evening! If anything in message 23 is unclear, feel free to write, and I will respond in more detail.
Tonya
I missed the question... I'm correcting myself! I feed the spiral rarely, I just try to pour fish food over it; it loves artemia and cyclops (whatever I have, I'm glad to share...). It's been open all day for me, and it started to grow right away, and quite well, actually. It arrived injured, with about a centimeter of its body scratched on a "wire," but it healed within a week. It was somewhere in the summer... I don't remember exactly, but I cut off the tip by about ten centimeters, just what had grown. I think yours will also start to grow; try feeding it a couple of times a week, but the main thing is that the fish don't nibble on it, as it doesn't like that... I'm curious, what color and shape is it for you?
Jacqueline6670
Please tell me how often you change the water and what percentage?
Jill9137
We change the water every two weeks, about 10%.
Jose
John3165
Alchemy... I couldn't find a better word...
Karen
Tatiana, good evening, excellent photos, the colors are simply impressive!!!! I am curious about your opinion on what causes such colors: light, feeding, chemicals, or something else??? It is clear that it is a combination, but if it's not too difficult, in your opinion, what ranks first, second, etc.? Wishing you all the best for the upcoming New Year, may it be as colorful and healthy as your reef!!!!
Angel2396
Good evening!
Well, if it's just an opinion.....
1,2,3 - stability of parameters
4 - properly selected lighting
5 - water cleanliness, transparency
6 - feeding, fish, chemistry.....
The top three positions are unchanged. As for the rest, we'll see how it goes....
Thank you for the congratulations and wishes!
David7773
The stability of the parameters depends on the ingredients used or changes in other conditions. Let me know if you changed any conditions or ingredients, because it seems to me that the colors have become brighter!
Andrea6761
Tanya, as always, is on top! The photos are great!
Very beautiful tridactyl! Are you feeding it anything besides light?
Has Helmon not paid any attention to it?
Mark7376
I don't feed the tridacna separately. Helmon was initially interested in her... but then he cooled off.
Elizabeth882
Tanya, congratulations on the successes in the development of YOUR reef; no one can dispute such a level. I wish you success and even greater joys from your aquarium, for you and us in the form of photos. P.S. Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to everyone.
Andrea6761
I won't hide it, it's very nice, but I'm in shock... who wrote this?
James
Tanya, I don't know who, but someone from your fans for sure))
P.S. other articles by the author
Eric5208
Thank you for sharing the link and for the holiday wishes! Likewise!
Wendy
Hello everyone!
I will refresh the topic with some new photos, especially since there are newcomers, gonioporas, and clownfish that didn't arrive yesterday; they have already settled in a bit, but they haven't chosen a home yet.
At night, I filmed the polyps of the tubastrea, and I counted eight of them in the aquarium.
Emily3506
Goniopores are cool.
Courtney
Susan9583
Hi
The colors in the photos are different...
Is it real or just different camera settings?
Adrienne
This is for real. I know how to use Photoshop; if I had a goal, all the photos would be very beautiful and identical.
Unfortunately or fortunately, it's often not possible to capture the beauty of the underwater world with a camera. I have to use editors. I edit each photograph while looking at the original. The first photo was taken after the vacation; the corals and fish were on a diet, and after my incident, they were slowly recovering. As of today, I am almost satisfied with the colors.
Danny
In the second photo, I still think the settings for the white balance are different; the sand looks blue and the hapatus turns purple. I get similar photos with actinics.
Meghan
I just visited Tanya and saw the aquarium in person. There aren't enough words to convey the beauty of this underwater world; I'll just say one word: gorgeous.
Nothing goes anywhere there; the second photo has a natural representation.
Jennifer7159
Tanya, everything is fine with you! It's really hard to take a photo under T5 and get what you see with your eyes.
Yvette209
On the first one, I might have shot in full light, but I don't remember now... but I always edit based on what I see... Yesterday, I shot with one white light, two actinics, and three blue lights. In general, I don't understand... do you really doubt? I invite all doubters as guests... without any biting, of course!
James5103
Thank you! You see how well you parked... otherwise, just a little more and they would start throwing tomatoes...
Rodney7316
Why doubt it? Even in the first photo, everything is very colorful. It's just that the color reproduction doesn't match my perception.
Thomas1044
Personally, not a gram!!! Active light doesn't particularly change the colors of healthy, well-cared-for invertebrates. May God grant each of us to know and perform our work as the owner of this wonder knows and performs it... By the way, in my humble opinion, it's a rare phenomenon in marine aquaristics. Usually, the palm of victory in marine reef belongs to men. We need to protect and cherish our mermaids. There are, it seems to me, only two of them...
Daniel4967
Well, it's the light, there are many blue lamps... If I, as an editor, remove the blue from the sand, the colors of the corals shift to other shades, a lot of green and red... so real corals are better than sand... If I wanted to embellish it, I would have edited the first photo from November... but at that time, the colors were exactly like that...
Caitlin3279
Good evening everyone! The aquarium is truly a masterpiece, knock on wood. If all the skeptics knew how vibrant aquariums like Tatiana's actually look... The water there is even different, no matter how surprising that may sound. But you need to see it at least once. I've seen three such aquariums (Stas Alpin in 2009, Max Alchevsk, and Egis Kaunas). I haven't made it to Tatiana's yet, but I think it's just a matter of time. Tanya is doing great! Once again, knock on wood. As one wise person wrote, "all the secrets have long been laid out on the forum."
Sydney
Perhaps they are no longer skeptics... Because in this masterpiece, there are no mistakes or shortcomings on any issues...
Tami
It's impossible to photograph an aquarium in a way that captures the real colors! Sorry for the pun. I've never been able to get a photo to convey the true colors in an aquarium, and there's nothing wrong with editing it a bit—cameras simply can't capture what the eye sees. In reality, the aquarium should look a bit brighter, and the depth isn't felt, even though it exists.
Lauren
I wanted to Photoshop my photos in themes and profile. Then I changed my mind... why? Let everything stay as it is, the main thing is that in real life everything looks as it should. And there won't be any questions...
Lindsey3362
This is a personal matter, but in my opinion, your photos are very beautiful, meaning that looking at them would make me want to have a sea. But my earlier pictures are all blue; you can't look at them without tears... and who do they show anything to, or what desire could arise upon seeing them? And I'm not afraid of questions...
Karen1649
Let's start asking) Why did the Leaning Tower of Pisa lean?))) Just kidding)))
Amy
Amy
It's fabulous! Words can't express it—just emotions! Tanya, if it's not too much trouble, could you write here or in private about how you bonded the corals? Just pins, or with cement, epoxy?
Melissa3200
A good amateur. So who is a professional? Please pass my thanks to the photographer for the magnificent photos. And to you, Tatiana, a huge thank you for your wonderful aquarium and for the guidance on which direction to take, also a big thank you.
Rita
Thank you!
I suppose you mean what we used to glue the corals to the columns? At first, when they are small, we just used epoxy, and if at an angle, we used cement, but before it was of good quality... now both the epoxy and the cement I got were unsuccessful, making it impossible to glue... We also used another glue, I posted a photo about it, but that one has also been discontinued and just dissolves in water... I think in Germany glue is not a problem. If the coral is large and there is a possibility to make a pin, that is the ideal option for securing the corals.

Amateur, because it is his hobby, not a profession. Thank you, I will definitely pass it on!
Thank you for sincerely appreciating our work!
Stephanie4990
Tanya, I meant the stones. I have to deal with this tomorrow—I'm reading everything available right now... I will be especially upset if I can't find the right cement...
Tanner
The required cement is without additives, I don't think that's a problem.
Michael
Tanya, the photos are wonderful, SUUPERRR.

Words cannot express......respect to the guru of marine aquaristics!!!!!!
Kristen1161
I looked through a bunch of photos of different aquariums, but I haven't seen any as bright, colorful, and beautiful as these, especially the last photo from the previous photoshoot; I stared at it for about 5 minutes, so much love and effort in it...
Jesse3979
Yes Tanya, your colors are simply unreal, you can feel that you are in love with the sea)))
Maria6659
When shooting corals from above through the water, the colors are always brighter, although I can't complain, I just prefer it when not all the lights are on. I think we all love the sea, but sometimes it throws us puzzles, and it's not always possible to find solutions...
Jeremy
Well, you say it! I had to Google it... the translation made me laugh, but I understood the meaning... Thank you for valuing my results so highly, but you are a guru on the forum when it comes to marine aquaristics in general, and I say this quite seriously, and it is well-deserved!
John
A corifee is an outstanding figure in a particular field, as this expression is interpreted, and to be honest, you are far ahead in this regard. Your rhyme is incomparably more beautiful and diverse than mine. Therefore, this title suits you better. I envy you with a white envy.
Michele
This aquarium is possibly the best I've seen on the entire internet; the photos and the condition of the inhabitants bring immense pleasure, everything is done with such taste and skill. Tanya, please post it more often.
Heather9815
Tanya, everything is booked!)))))))
Chad231
Ryuha, great job!!! Five points!!
Taka, the photo is just...........there are no words, it's time for you to give a lesson on photography art. If macro is somewhat understandable, then I just can't grasp how such depth of field is achieved in a general shot, and as far as I understand, it's all in a regular JPEG format, and despite that, the fish are not blurry.... I'm confused, waiting for your guidance.
Kristen2246
I took note of a few things for myself, because sometimes my photos turn out to be a 3 out of 10. That is, they are nothing special. Neither the colors nor the sharpness are good... I need to practice, but there's no time.
Corey3201
What filter do you use?
Jessica6754
Yes, the same Lightroom has sharpening properties, just like most photo editors... I personally use Lightroom - it works great!
Amy5070
I am adding in the editor.
Phillip9722
Tanya, has anything changed in the equipment, or does everything match the first post? I'm most interested in the lighting. Best regards.
John
Nothing has changed. The light is the same, but out of 10 lamps, only 8 have been burning for a long time.
Joshua3019
It feels like the corals will soon be trimmed with scissors over the aquarium. Is there no plan to move to a larger volume? Is there still enough space for imagination?
Kendra2262
Are you talking about pruning shears?
The red digitata is already surfacing from the water, but I can't trim it; the base is very thin, and the large branches break immediately... and consequently, the whole appearance of the bush suffers. Moreover, it has grown in places to the shaft... In general, they are growing poorly... and not growing is also bad!
No, there won't be a move to a larger volume, at least not in the next couple of years. To be honest, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle a larger volume... there won't be enough time... I don't have any staff...
Maria
Tatiana, is the replacement of bulbs standard once a year or is it different? Based on your experience, how long do ATI bulbs typically last?
John3432
Once a year is not entirely accurate... I have lamps that burn for 13 hours a day, and some that burn for 7 hours... Accordingly, 4680 hours/year and 2520 hours/year. I try to choose something in between...
Joshua9847
it's a pity...very pity
for me - the larger the volume, the easier it is...
Kendra2262
This does not apply to my aquarium volume of 700 liters. Usually, this is said to persuade someone to buy an aquarium not of 100 liters, but at least 500 liters, and I agree with that. In my aquarium, there are no stability issues (not counting technical problems), so for me, a larger volume means additional time for cleaning the glass, etc... unfortunately...
Amy
Tatiana, good afternoon, I saw somewhere what you use to glue corals, but unfortunately I can't find it now. Could you please remind me what it is?
Tricia7885
Tanya, I take my hat off to your skill. At the same time, I see that SPS are thriving under LL lamps. Where does the theory that SPS only require MH go?
Martha
Good afternoon. I have tried many things, and I was satisfied with a lot of them, but only for a certain period; then the quality deteriorated... unfortunately... Now I am using this glue and I am happy with it.
Jessica5348
Oh, I don't understand much about theories... I'm more into practice. Using T5 for aquariums is not my whim but a necessity... the aquarium is in a niche. Maybe the issue is not in the theory, but in improving the T5 lamps themselves?
Whitney
Yes, many SPS grow at T5. What is this theory about MG? It's the first time I've heard of it.
Andrew7823
Well, it's not exactly a theory, but open any topic about choosing lighting. The first question: - What corals will you keep? - Hard ones, then definitely! That's all there is to the theory. I apologize to Tatiana for explaining in her topic.
Phyllis
What about forgiveness, the topic is not just for photos.
Three years ago, when the SPS was being planned, mainly metal halide lamps were used, and there were SPS on T5 lamps mostly on foreign websites, but many do not read them...
Nicole263
Options for MH or T5, everyone must choose for themselves. This question has been raised several times on the forum. Advantages of T5 lamps: -very beautiful lighting -energy savings -cheap and compact compared to MH. Advantages of MH lamps: -beautiful lighting (only with good expensive lamps like ReefLux, Phoenix) -the aquarium looks much livelier than under T5. Disadvantages of MH lamps: -Good equipment and lamps cost a lot of money -High energy consumption. Taken from personal experience, as I have both.

There was definitely something for the hipatus to feed on... But overall, the reef is not what it was a year ago. The corals have really taken a hit...
Danny
Just super! Everything has grown so much. P.S. There will be posts on the logo with the words: "let us in with the bite-sized treats."
Stephanie4990
It's just incredible, I've never seen anything like it!
Katie3017
He didn't really eat all of it... for some reason... Someone did scratch the glass a bit on the left, but it looks like a zebra... Is everything really that bad?
Sheila
Just Class!!!
Laura9093
Tanya, how can you say such things about this aquarium, it's a masterpiece!!!
Gary6376
We can only dream of such an aquarium for now.
Ricky9405
As always, on top of things, I constantly follow your topic on the logo, and I just remembered that this is my very first forum, and here you are. You’re doing great, so much time and effort, and the sight of your jar is just a reward, keep it up!
