• My Little Sea (Resun DMS 500PL)

  • Jeffery

Good day! I'm starting my topic on this forum, I hope for your support, tips and understanding - I'm a newbie in the sea, so to speak - a cabin boy)))) I'll start with the Resun DMS 500PL Aquarium. The standard lighting, I haven't modified it (but I really want to) because in this topic I don't understand much yet (but I'm learning) all unnecessary outputs from the display part of the aquarium are glued, the drain to the sump is carried out through the upper drain hole. Equipment: two return pumps Resun 500L/h (lower output) and Hydor 1120L/h (upper output), a Hydor Koralia Nano flow pump, a Resun SK-05 skimmer. It seems to be doing something, although the livestock the livestock is not very good yet)... well, in order) Atman100W thermoregulator just in case, Aquarium systems Instant Ocean salt, Red Sea ine Lab tests, Red Sea Reef Grow Kit ballasting (not used yet) Sump: 4 compartments 1st compartment - drain shaft, I placed 2-2.5 kg of live rock. 2nd compartment - thermoregulator for now (then I'll install a skimmer) 3rd compartment - skimmer (planning an algae reactor) 4th compartment - return pumps Display part: aragonite live sand 9 kg NATURES OCEAN, live rock so far 5 kg, will add more soon Animals: two strombus, one trochus, about seven zoanthids, one discosoma, a piece of clavularia (may be mistaken) a feather worm (I know I hurried) and a bunch of illegals (a sea star, a hermit crab, small ophiuroids I think, worms and about 10 aiptasia) I will provide photos in

William5838

Photo, please!

Tracy4603

Hi! Please take a photo of the three-horse and the overflow, and preferably the sump as well. Good luck to you in your maritime endeavors!

Gabriel

It seems to look good for a start. You need to remove the crab, the snapping shrimp, and the aiptasia right away; I think you already know that, as it will be difficult to deal with and catch them later. We are waiting for the photos.

Tanya

What is wrong with the ik-cracker besides the fact that it cracks?

Anthony7814

He has annoyed me with his clicking for 3 years. What is he good at?

Daniel8015

What is wrong with him besides the clicks?

James5103

Congratulations on the start. I join everyone waiting for photos, but I am still in the accumulation stage. In general, good luck to you in your endeavors.

Chad231

Welcome the new sailor, we are waiting for photos of your aquarium. I completely agree with Dima. Fight the aiptasia right away, put all the fish in the sump, and let the pistol shrimp live in the sump. Best regards.

Robert800

I think it's like how all the hermits move - the click beetles are just resting. By the way, I constantly hear clicks in my aquarium, but I haven't seen them yet...

Anna9752

You can see them if you sit by the aquarium for hours at night with a flashlight, but sometimes, very rarely, during the day when they poke their snout out of their burrow... The clicks are evidence of hunting; the little shrimp stuns the amphipods and other creatures this way... The hermits are not a gift, but occasionally you have to tolerate their presence—they are really interesting in their behavior...

Angel2396

They are also useful. J.K. (living stones) clean what is needed.

Jennifer9100

I have 1 click beetle and 1 hermit crab in my aquarium. No questions about the hermit crab, but the click beetle... I haven't seen it once in three years. I don't know about its mischief, I haven't noticed, just like with the hermit crab. But the clicks are something else. Off-topic: Night. Silence. I'm falling asleep. Suddenly, there's a crack, like the glass in the aquarium has broken. I jump up and rush to the aquarium. It's dry. There's no water. I just turned off the light and started to fall asleep - again. After the third time, I didn't get up anymore, but it was scary. Now I've gotten used to it. P.S. I seem to be bringing my problems into someone else's topic. I should probably delete this.

Kayla7655

no need to rub ))))))) promised photos:

Tanya

Who did you get the J.K. (living stones) from, if it's not a secret?

Michelle13

J.K. (living stones) took from a

Joshua8425

What does everyone think about the placement of the J.K. (living stones)? In my opinion, it's not very successful...

Darlene4238

Why is it unsuccessful? For you or for the fish? There are many niches. There is a little cave. More rocks will be added with corals. What kind of fish are you planning?

Michelle5859

There is no need to reconstruct anything with the live rocks for now; everything is fine. As new live rocks come in, you can install them at your discretion.

Loretta5483

The main thing in setting up a live rock aquarium, apart from the overall design, is creating "balconies" that do not shade each other for the subsequent placement of corals. As for the design, I personally like it.

Kevin

Yes, I somehow forgot about balconies and terraces, it's a good idea... The railings look great on such structures...

James8887

How do you plan to administer it? Manually? With a dosing pump?

William5838

with rearrangement - finished...))) I will most likely add manually, due to the lack of a pump. Please help identify the actinia! And the star from the first photoshoot! ) Thank you

John3187

Star - asterina, there will soon be many Actinia - Heteractis crispa

Paul

Thank you for the response! Is the star dangerous? What should be done about it? It has been observed causing harm... periodically munching on briarium and zoanthids. As I understand, ocellaris will not settle in Heteractis crispa...

Randall7906

How many kg of live rocks do you have in your latest photos?

Crystal

in the display part - about 10 kg

Heather2018

I already have about 40 of those stars... They don't eat anything from me. Ocelaris can definitely sit in a crispy!!! Beautiful anemone! It seems that Yarik has some.

Rodney7316

Thank you very much!!!!! You calmed me down))) I was about to go for the "link"... and buy a percula) but now I'll wait, maybe the prices will drop...

Jerry

I confirm - the star is good, everyone is getting into Crispu!

Natasha7622

My ocellaris are breeding. Can this have an effect? They haven't settled yet... (I moved them with a stick closer to the anemone... they seem to be spinning nearby for now... but they keep their distance. They don't even show any interest.

Chelsea567

Wait And there's no need to drive them away with sticks for now

Amy

It doesn't matter - whether they are savages or con artists. They will all sit down, it's just a matter of time.

Amanda5586

Thank you! I'm waiting...

Courtney

I came home this evening and found that the little action figure moved under the left side window... I can't see it there, why is it there for me???? What to do?)))

Christopher4125

Do not touch it, and let her choose the place herself.

Stephanie4990

hope she doesn't end up in a pump...

Joshua9847

Okay, let's wait...

Aaron6112

How's the deflector? Did you like the job?

Emma

Good evening, Igor))) At this moment, I'm trying to attach it... it's just a bit too small for the outlet hole.

Catherine6534

Come over - let's try to find an adapter! We just need to know what your diameters are!

Luis3725

I have already adapted it for cold welding with coral glue supposedly...) we'll see, if it doesn't hold, I'll come to adjust it))) thank you)

Caitlin3279

How does it work? There is an effect!

Wendy8540

There isn't any((( apparently the pump is weak (Hydor 1120L/h)((( it makes a quarter turn and stops.

John

But I tried it in the office on a pump at 1000 l/h!

Gregory9432

So what could the matter be then?

Andrea9320

I still couldn't figure out the deflector (it works in the office where I took it, but not in my aquarium! ( Well, that's half the trouble... The zoanthids have lost their color... I measured the pH - it's about 8.7 (Red Sea tests) I have hydrochloric acid... what should I do?)

Elizabeth882

Stop, stop, no hydrochloric acid. Let's check the test - measure the pH in freshly prepared (salty water). It's better to test the water with another pH test. If doubts still remain, do a partial water change.

Danielle9144

Check the voltage in the network...

Tara2761

Are the deflectors clean, not overgrown?

Joseph9057

I seem to have figured out the water situation ) tests are fine! I'll double-check in the next few days. The deflectors are completely new.

Robin

found this - opinions?

Kenneth7331

Well, why do you need it? You might as well take this one instead.

Whitney

Thank you!!! I didn't even see it )

Maria6659

fresh photos! everyone except the leafmoth - brand new residents

John1464

and immediately two questions: help identify the snail (it keeps climbing into the protoplanetary disk and seems to be eating it) and help with identifying the last photo... is this a briarium emerging??? thank you.

Vanessa6144

The snail resembles a nudibranch. Does the snail have a shell?

Jasmine

Got it! I've already figured it out. The snail parasite eats umbrellas! The verdict... out. Although it's beautiful, maybe someone needs it, I'll give it away.)))

Joe

It is not Briarium that is being cut... It is something from the family Clavulariidae... In Briarium, the connective tissue is whitish-rose, while here it is lilac. When the polyps emerge, there should be 8 feathery tentacles, according to the count. In general, when purchasing, it is essential to record the scientific names of the animals... if, of course, the supplier has a list of the Latin names of what they supplied... they are obliged to have it...

Steven

I confirm, this is Heliacus (Zoanthid Predator). Here it is described. Here is a good resource on illegals.

Patrick4439

Yes..., the threatening name Zoanthid Predator! As for the last photo: I didn't see anything resembling briarium there. The white bumps on the purple background are normal for coralline. I have the same ones.

Karen81

Thanks, guys) I know this resource, I use it)) even a lot) I just somehow overlooked my Predator there ))))))). Regarding the briarium... the thing is that it's my fault for the poor quality of the photo...( for which I apologize. But upon careful examination of the place or the stone ))))))) the question... in short... the polyps look like little umbrellas, just from white bumps, it seems like a pink body is crawling on the stone. It looks very much like the beginning of the growth of briarium or clavularia. I'm not an expert, that's why I asked) I carefully studied the visual signs and the nature of the growth of both... very similar... or maybe I just want it so much ))) the place there is good for briarium )

Corey3201

In principle, yes, it also works for Carolina, but let's wait and see, just in case...

Crystal

Regarding your Heliacus Beast (Zoanthid Predator), I can take it. I am a beginner in the sea. I can place the beast in the sump; I only have caulerpa and chaetomorpha there. I think it will find food for itself.

Vanessa6144

This is not a briarium. In my opinion, it is a coraline. Best regards.

Leah

How will you take the little one?

Kenneth7331

thank you!
