With the start The mistake is likely that the sand was not rinsed before being filled. I launched a similar cube (35*35*35), but I have 2*24W*6400 lamps + a 26W blue one. What about the foam? My system has been living without it for six months. I immediately recommend considering an automatic top-off - it saves a lot of nerves and increases the stability of the system. P.S. I can send you some batriocladia in exchange for something freshwater, or for free if nothing is available, to support marine endeavors, so to speak.

Mitchell7972

Yes, everything is done correctly. The sand is not washed out. It settles in the water. What kind of sand did you take? If it's very fine, you can throw in a head with synthetic padding, but I think that's unnecessary. Everything has its time - the sand will settle, and life will emerge from the stones. Then the algae will come, different ones, in stages. Don't rush with the livestock, let it stabilize.

Daniel9952

There's just not enough stone - it might not hold up.

Raven7170

Congratulations! I just launched a month ago! From my side, I would recommend replacing the Chinese heater with something more reliable.

Adrienne

You can really add stones. I have 7 kg of stones for 35 liters, and it seems fine.

Jill1815

Now I have the following question. In about 2-3 weeks, I plan to add some inhabitants. My vision for this aquarium is a couple of ocellaris clownfish, an anemone for them, and some zonatus or other peaceful species. But here’s the problem: I don’t know what will live and thrive in such a small tank without harming each other. Dear marine enthusiasts, please advise me on a suitable set of animals for my tank. Thank you in advance.

Luis3725

To start, you can use a car one. It works for me for 4 months, then changing the sensor is not a problem.

Nicole263

Which car do you have it from???

Joshua9847

I also have a top-up on the VAZ sensors. If you duplicate them, you don't have to worry; the likelihood of both getting stuck at the same time is very low. But I'm not promoting VAZ; when the time comes, I'll change it.

Wendy8540

I'm confused about choosing actinides (for the future); some recommend Magnifica, some Entokmeia, and some Carpet, and now I'm lost and in a state of ignorance. By the way, can you suggest what can be planted in a month that is available and relatively undemanding? Also, regarding topping up, where should the sensor be placed, in the sump or the aquarium?

Jeremy3637

The cloudiness has decreased a bit, but it still worries me. Will it harm the live rocks? Should I turn off the pump for the 600L tank and leave it on for the 200L tank with the intake wrapped in filter foam? Maybe the large pump is preventing the cloudiness from settling. Will a weak current harm the live rocks? I'm concerned that something might happen to the rocks. Yesterday I saw worms, but today there are none. I'm worried! What can you say or recommend?

Corey3201

Nothing will happen to the stones. The only thing that needs to be done is to install a pump with a sponge or synthetic fiber that will take on the fine suspension. In any case, the current in the marine aquarium should be sufficient, so I do not recommend suppressing it.

Jacqueline6670

My Amphiprion ocellaris are not going into the entocmea, neither with me nor with my friend; they only stay in the magnific. The carpet might eat them. And the cloudiness will pass; wait about three days, set up the mechanics with a sponge, and clean more often.

Kyle

Thank you for the answers. I did just that, I wrapped synthetic cotton around the intake of the pumps, and I rinsed the small pump three times. I'm just worried that the synthetic cotton will take away all the bacteria and plankton????

Tricia7885

SHERKHAN, do you have auto top-up??? By the way, I have a small question: can I mix about 50 liters of seawater and let it sit in a sealed canister for a month or two? I'm wondering if the water will spoil??? Although live water can sit in canisters for a year!??? What do you say???

Angela

Seawater spoils without mixing, it's been proven. The option is either to install a pump to keep it mixed or to use an air compressor. It can spoil in a month if it just sits there.

James4757

By the way, how does living water not spoil?

James8887

I don't have an auto top-off and I won't have one. It's not that it's bad or good; I just manually top off and wipe things down every day, spending about one to two hours by the sea. I'm like a "junkie" for it. I don't have a sump, just a dry filter, a DIY skimmer, and mechanical filtration. Yes, I add about 3 liters every day, plus or minus 0.5 liters depending on the season. I haven't stored salted water for long; the maximum is 5 days for up to 50 liters when I'm preparing for a water change during maintenance.

Pamela

I almost let the distillate evaporate, and the density rose to 27. By the way, what is the minimum, optimum, and maximum density? I think I will probably make a sample from a 10-liter aquarium.

Brent7831

optimal salinity 1.024 - 1.025 or 35 parts per thousand

Wendy2244

My dimensions, parameters of the new aquarium 130x55x55 salt tetra Homemade skimmer on an injector. Live rocks 35 kg (need to reduce by about 20 kg) Black Sea sand 1mm-1.5mm (live, brought by me, 30 kg) Ca-440 Mg-1400 Kh-7-9 Ph-8.2-8.4 NO3-0 Temperature 26-27 Salinity 1.025 No water changes yet (still a new aquarium) but planning 15 liters once a month.

Randall7906

Take a Chinese filter with a capacity of 700 l/h (approximately) and fill it with synthetic cotton; it will clean everything in a day.

Amber9312

To be honest, I don't know. I went to the store and asked for a Zhiguli washer fluid level sensor, took the shortest one (there are three lengths). I think I posted the diagram of my auto-refill system, where the sensors are visible. Regarding the anemones, Lev seemed to have taken a carpet one for his experiment. I have two quadricolors (bubble tip anemones) living for the third month now; they seem to be growing and are eating well.

Alejandro

If you want, I can pour some water from a one-year-old aquarium, with bacteria and all sorts of things.

Kevin8087

I would be very happy.

Carrie1606

Lack of current is the worst thing that can happen in a marine aquarium. It is precisely in pumps that uninterruptible power supplies are installed. The rocks won't be affected by the sediment. However, a synthetic filter pad for a couple of days wouldn't hurt... P.S. In a natural reef, there is always current, ALWAYS!!! Synthetic filter pads won't remove any bacteria; rather, they will become a breeding ground for them. And you don't have any plankton yet.

Erin

This additive is called Durso. It is needed for silent water drainage from the aquarium to the sump. Alcohol will not harm.

Angela7060

If possible, please provide more details about the function of the piece I highlighted, why there is an air valve there, and if it can be made as I drew it. Thank you in advance.

Natasha

Let's use the informal "you." The function of the tap is to regulate the aeration of the drain pipe. If done without aeration, the water will drain unevenly and produce a very loud gurgling sound.

Jessica5348

Got it, so we still need to fiddle with the air valve. At what height should the plug with the valve be installed? At the level of the aquarium? What is the valve used for?

Bethany

The plug with a tap is installed above the water level in the aquarium. Any tap can be used, or it can be omitted altogether. Mine works without a tap. I simply made a hole in the plug and inserted a piece of tubing into it; the lower end of the tubing should be below the water level in the overflow chamber.

Rita

Darn it, I really don't want to drill the aquarium, it's just awful, but I have to.

Judy

The addition in the photo is part of the Durso overflow. Google it for more information. In short, it's necessary to prevent the overflow from gurgling like a toilet. Or you could use a ready-made overflow so you don't have to drill anything? Like Tunze, for example.

Jamie3553

As an option (not great, but it can be suggested) - add borders around the perimeter like a rim, in one corner glue a comb - raise the water level. All of this, if the wall thickness allows for raising the level. On the side, glue either a sump or a column. Then all of this can be beautified. For now, everything is correct, wait for flashes of different algae, it's not pretty, but usually inevitable, then it will stabilize.

Jessica9188

Can you tell me if it's possible to do it as shown in the picture without gluing the cube, just by drilling a hole in the glass and inserting the collector at a depth of 2 cm from the water level?

Ronald

People, please advise.

Curtis

Maybe you can do something with this scheme - (if Pavlik doesn't mind). I really want to do it, I've already cut the glass, but I can't find PVC pipe in the faraway Uzhhorod, as they don't know what it is here...

Caleb6320

Yes, it is possible; this is also done. This method is very often used in coral farms, but the sound of water will be present. For such a drain, a drain grid of this type should be used:

Darlene4238

Well, that's what I was asking about, thank you very much for the answer. I think this will be the best option in my case, and if it's a bit noisy, it's not a big deal.

Aaron580

There is nothing complicated about such a drain, and what is rare in that pipe is just a simple PVC with a 90-degree angle. I don't like such an overflow; it's bulky. It's easier to drill a hole in the glass and that's it.

Steven757

If there is a faucet on the drain pipe as you illustrated in the picture above (post 39), then I think we can try to adjust it and make it completely silent.

Tami

For these reasons, I decided to install a crane, and I hope everything will work out. I'm a bit nervous about drilling with a drill bit of 35mm diameter, as I haven't worked with such a bit before. In fact, I haven't bought it yet, and I might not even find it for sale.

Heather6148

A diamond-coated tile cutter at any construction market, an aquarium on its side, and a water edge made of modeling clay. In this tub, drill at low speeds.

Robert

Why aren't you considering this scheme? It works for me on the channel.

Debbie3587

Rarely in the pipe because in Uzhhorod they don't know what PVC pipe is, and that's why it's not available (not only 90 degrees, but also straight). The overflow will be positioned against the wall, meaning it will be inconspicuous (only I will know). And I can't drill; I still need to remove the partition with the aquarium, and I don't even know how, and drilling is...

Michael826

The option is good, but it is not suitable for a marine aquarium. A marine aquarium is usually open-topped, and all the dust that settles on the water surface should be removed into the sump. If you use your option, there will constantly be debris floating on the surface, which spoils the appearance of the aquarium.

Paul

How does the dust then go down the drain in the Durso system? After all, the water intake hole is below the surface.

Jacob7201

Dust with water flows from the surface into the drainage shaft. There, it sinks in a small area of water and merges with the water in the sump.

Jeanne

Dust enters the overflow shaft where it is actively mixed by the flow of water cascading down. Even if some dust remains in the overflow shaft, it is not a problem since it will not be visible anyway. In the case of using a drain without a shaft, the drain grate is located slightly above the water level (depending on the power of the feed pump), and accordingly, the film on the surface of the water goes into the sump where it is removed by a skimmer or a mechanical filtration system.

Jeffery

In any case, why drill glass in this situation? Naturally, a hole in the glass is more reliable than an overflow, but the aquarium is already set up. And a siphon can be made; the principle of overflow will not be affected by that.

Debbie3587

I don't quite understand the principle of your system. What role do the bends in the hose play??? As I understand it, if the tube sucks in air, the water will stop flowing???

Kathleen

It won't stop, physics however. The bends prevent the water from spilling, and the tee serves the function of siphoning and draining. That is, the tee is installed at the desired water level in the aquarium, and when the water level rises, it drains through the tube located after the tee. In this case, the air tube can only draw in air if almost all the water is drained from the aquarium.

Shawn

The bend of the hose behind the aquarium acts as a second vessel, which is connected to the aquarium by an overflow, and the tee (with an open top) serves as the drain hole of the second reservoir, determining the water level.

Kevin3579

Congratulations on your new home! Who are you, where are you from?

Jamie3553

Today I received Xenia sp. Ksyusha is very beautiful, pulsating in a spiral.

Angel2396

Yesterday I bought a pair of AMPHIPRION OCELLARIS clownfish. I also modified the lighting a bit.

Jason5071

Did the zoanthids never open up?

Kathy

They are not closed.

Dana6523

I can recommend a very simple and reliable auto refill system, and the main thing is that everyone has it, but for some reason, no one realizes it. I can't take a photo right now because I don't have a camera, but you can come and see it or call me (all the parts from the toilet refill tank have been working for 2 years, and the person who gave me the idea has been using it for over 4 years), and there’s no need for any reed sensors, etc.

Kellie

Thank you for the advice, I've been eyeing these things at the market for a while, but I'm not sure which one to choose.

Jennifer7578

The aquarium looks like this today.

Daniel8015

A couple of days ago, I did an automatic refill.

Danielle

IMO: I wouldn't offer or install such a miracle for myself or a client.

Eric8832

A miracle? Such wonders are in millions of apartments and they don't fail! Cool, cheap, and cheerful)

Christine864

Anyone can point out that something is outdated, but sometimes outdated things can work better than modern ones. How is this statement explained? What is wrong with it??? How is it worse than a reed switch sensor? If the reed switch sensor gets stuck, the pump will keep running until it drains all the water or won't turn on when needed. This float is designed for high water pressure up to 9 atm. In my case, there is no pressure at all; when opened, there is just a tiny trickle of water. I ask you to explain your categorical stance.

Kathleen

I have a similar one that has been working for 2 years without any failures, Pavlik. It's just half the size and more compact, I don't remember exactly, but the float is much smaller. A person named Oleg, who helped me with the e-vau, gave me a good idea; he has had his for 4 years and everything is fine. Mine is connected directly to the osmosis system, and water is supplied automatically when needed.

James1625

I seem to have written IMHO... and at the beginning, this is my opinion, which I do not propose for discussion...

Tonya

So why express your opinion if you can't justify it???

Angela

And as for ... the guy, a person is doing their best, not everyone is as resourceful as Pavlik Morozov.

Amanda5586

, beauty )) in a comrade already a sailor )) tell me how much I need to invest in 40 liters to get something like this?)

Catherine

Well, how to say it. If you do everything yourself, it's much cheaper. I just did everything myself. If you take live sand, 5 kg is 200, live rocks (5 kg of rocks) are 800, salt 8 kg is 280. Everything else varies.

Mark9853

Is it really possible to make a decent box for 3000? Do we need a refrigerator for the summer? It probably costs a decent amount.

Lori4746

Please be kind enough to explain. If you want to warn in some way, describe why; if you want to show off or dismiss it by saying I'm cooler, that's not right, that's not how it's done. If there's nothing to say, then that's a different matter.

Chad231

How can I put it, the temperature in my apartment is currently around 27 degrees, turning on a 12cm cooler through a timer relay for 15 minutes every hour keeps the temperature at 26 degrees, and if it doesn't turn on, the temperature will rise to 28-29 degrees. I am satisfied with its performance. You can make a decent mini setup for 3000.

Curtis

Yes, I bought a small one, but it turned out that it only works under pressure. Basically, this one is not much bigger than the imported tanks; I shortened it, and it turned out quite compact. By the way, thanks for the advice.

Emily3506

Sooner or later, the gasket valve will wear out or tear, and then the water from the upper container will drip into the sump. I have nothing against this design; if you like it, go ahead and use it.

Jeffrey2277

A worthy response, thank you. I will hope that it doesn't tear.

Ryan1989

As one memorable figure said, "You are on the right path, comrades!!!" Will the cube become a springboard to a more substantial object of troubles and pleasures? And the wall fish, or let's say, l. debelius, or l. amboensis are already waiting in line for settlement. (It is preferable to acquire smaller ones). I would also recommend buying a couple of nematolebias for decoration or magnificas. I wish you success!

Diana3118

I decided to write a note. Thanks to the help of two "mariners" - I set up the aquarium. I launched it in June of this year. Following their advice, I avoided many pitfalls and problems. Moreover, their advice was completely selfless!!! Therefore, I recommend listening to their opinion. The only thing I did contrary to their opinion is that I set up the aquarium without UV. So I have a young soft reef without UV. So far, everything is fine. The reef is six months old - photos attached.

Alec9378

I don't get it - whose topic is this? Photos of your aquarium in someone else's threads... We're spamming...

Mitchell7972

What's the flood about? Photos of the aquarium without UV. So there are no questions. What's the flood about?

Danielle

Everything is fine.

Jeffrey2277

Ocellaris in carpet anemone, or is it something else?

Veronica

Ocelaris is currently alone and mostly in Magnific, while the doggies are roaming around the rodactics.

Joshua9340

What kind of dogs do you have? I ordered a bicolor puppy. It seems to be not very big and eats unwanted vegetation with gusto.

Jessica5348

In the reef, besides Amphiprion, there is one wrasse and two dogfish - a horned one and a sphinx. I added them to check on the fight against planaria. The planaria don't seem very visible, but the dogfish always have full bellies. Additionally, there are about thirty palemon shrimp of various sizes and four hermit crabs in the aquarium. All these creatures were caught in the Crimea during the summer. In the second aquarium, there lives a scorpionfish and four peacock dogfish.

Corey3201

I was in Crimea this year, but the sea hadn't started to build up yet; if I had known, I would have caught some of those little shrimp for myself.

John3432

People, save the sarc. I recently bought it, it seemed to be inflating, but yesterday it didn't inflate for some reason, and today I discovered a wound. WHAT TO DO, PLEASE HELP WITH ADVICE????

Heather2018

I would take it out and soak it in Lugol's solution or Tropic Marin Coral Pro Care. If the wound doesn't start to heal, I would take it out and cut out all the damaged parts. In general, sarkis are resilient. They can grow back from a small piece if the conditions are good.

Rachel9060

What should the dosage of Lugol's solution be? I just applied UV, or is that unnecessary???

James5032

I did it this way. Half a liter of water from the aquarium and 5 drops of Lugol's solution in there. The water gets slightly colored and smells of iodine. UV is unnecessary here.

Helen

So, should we remove it? By the way, how should it look when the wound is healing, and if everything is fine, what is the typical healing time? If the treatment doesn't yield results, then the affected area needs to be cut out, and should it be treated with something?

Mariah

Here, Lev responded in the same way. UF does not relate to this episode. I wouldn't want to give recommendations on its application. But it has not affected and will not affect the sarcoma wound. I would do it this way in the timeline. Bathe it. Return it to the aquarium. Observe for 3-4 days. If the wound has decreased, everything is fine. Wait. If it suddenly starts to grow, and there is an infectious fringe around it, then I would take it out and cut everything away. Bathe it again. And back to the aquarium. But I think the last scenario is unlikely. The wound will heal.

Gabriel

I am very grateful to you for such an informative response. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! By the way, where is it better to place it, closer to the light or in a stronger current???

Carrie1606

I have a huge (there's no other way to say it) sarcophagus right under a 400W lamp, and the pump is blowing nearby. But it used to be in another place. There, the fog is fluffy and has grown about 40 centimeters tall.

Daniel132

How much time should one bathe in Lugol's solution?

Eric8832

About 15 minutes in the bath.

Larry

Could you please advise which silicone to use for gluing a marine aquarium? I asked at the local pet store, and they said a special glue is needed, but they don't know which one.

Chelsea567

I used DEN BRAVO silicone for all my aquariums, I haven't heard of any special silicone for saltwater. Go ahead and glue!

Joe

My two marine aquariums, 350 and 450 liters, are sealed with black Silicone SOUDAL.

Thomas1044

Sark has already left for his former owner, and now there is a new Sark instead.

Joshua448

That's good, and in our work, anything can happen. So let them read if anyone is interested.

Danny

Thank you very much for such an informative explanation. The person from whom I took the sarc called me and offered to exchange the coral.

Nancy758

this is an indicator of the seller's good faith

Stephanie3084

Sanyok, I am just thrilled with your creativity. First, freshwater nano aquariums, and now marine ones. Some people really have skilled hands )))).

Tasha

For me, an aquarium is an interesting hobby, just like for many other forum members.

Amber6362

It's the same for me (even my wife complains that I spend more time with the aquariums than with her), but it just doesn't work out. Apparently, I lack both an artistic eye and skilled hands ))))). But on the bright side, there's room for improvement.

Katie5500

For women, there are nights, and during the day...

Kevin3579

My wife doesn't complain; she just runs to another room. She knows that when I start "scheduled work," which is almost every day, you can sometimes hear some colorful language. Well, there are often such moments in our work, or am I wrong?

Stefanie9771

That's what women are for, to complain.

Raven7170

Oh wow, it turns out that I'm not using my wife for her intended purpose.

Brenda

Here it is, read the instructions for use more carefully.

James8887

My wife learned how to take care of the aquarium and kicked me out of it! So now I only give orders, and even that quietly!

Ronald5720

I would like that, my one doesn't help but also doesn't interfere.

James3382

My first wife was indifferent to aquaristics, the second set conditions: either me or them. The third diligently helps and supports me in both joy and sorrow. I think there won't be a fourth.

Ronald5720

Pay attention to the instructions for use. Men, don't forget that there are women on the forum! And if we start discussing you, believe me, it won't be pretty!

Danielle

Men, what if your wives spent all their time by the aquariums and half the night online in forums, chatting and meeting with male aquarists, wouldn't you complain? My husband complained and argued a lot, but now he realizes it's pointless.

Kevin3114

Sanyok, can you take a photo? I would like to see it.

Rachel9060

In the evening, I will try to take a photo.

Michael3221

New residents of Euphilia and a bicolor dog, but she didn't want to be photographed.

Amy

Well done, Sanya, your rhyme is getting more beautiful.

Alejandro

For a beginner, success is not just a triumph!

Barbara

I just can't understand why the sark polyps don't grow more than 5mm. I did a water change with Tero salt, and everything became much brighter, even though I only changed 5 liters.

Angela

Just a BOMB!

Jeremy8404

indescribably beautiful... It just seems that a lot of time goes into maintenance... Although achieving such beauty is not something everyone can do. I recently flew in from the States - I saw such beauty in the aquarium in Boston... I'm even afraid to mention the idea of having something like this at home... I'm currently trying to set up a freshwater tank... =)

Ryan1989

"Those who fear the wolf do not fall in the forest," there is nothing wrong with that. Learn your material and welcome to the sea.

Dennis

Share your observations (and maybe photos): Attitude towards corals, towards algae. What do you feed them?

David4968

The dog has been moved to a 250L tank, as this aquarium has been dismantled. It eats both dry and frozen food, and also nibbles on some greens.

Kathy

How does it get along with other fish? Is it "she" or "her"? Or do they all get along?

Destiny

Neither hers nor hers.

Nancy

Now the bi-color puppy is friends with Solaris.

Karen81

Six months have passed. It's time to post the photo report)))

Kristin

This aquarium seems to be disassembled. Currently, there are 250 and 70 liters.

Tonya

Yes, it would be interesting to take a look at Sanya by the sea at this stage.

David

Sanyok has disbanded the 40L... Here is his further activity -

Richard2180

The murk will settle........don't worry........when I started, it took about 5 days for the water to clear up normally, nothing will happen to the stones from this muck.

Karen81

What if it doesn't settle? I've started to worry a bit... if everything settles on the rocks and they (the rocks) don't work... I'm starting to feel some anxiety about it...

Barbara

I hope you are not serious about this...

Guy

I was really alarmed by this message! Apparently from Odessa, knows about the aquarium at Sanya's!!! And Sanya has been keeping quiet about the murk in the aquarium for over a year... We are waiting for another 5 days...

Kevin262

In anticipation of the next gems.... 5 days is a bit short, a year would be better. Although....

Laura9093

I really didn't expect to get an answer to this question after so much time.
