Hello everyone! I have finally set up the live rock! The rocks are beautiful and quite porous. They weigh around 7 kg, which seems a bit too much. There are many small worms that unfurl like dandelions. There is one fluffy one that crawls on the rocks, scraping and eating something, and hides when I turn on the light. There is also an unknown snail with a greenish body crawling around. The temperature is constant at 26°C, and I haven't tested the water (osmosis) yet, but there's no need for now. Let it mature slowly. I turn the light on for 1-2 hours a day. The flow is very good, and the live rock is being circulated from all sides. The pump is a Corallia Nano. Apologies for the quality of the photos, I had to take them with my phone. In the sump, there is only a bag of charcoal. Is

Congratulations on the beginning!!! I had a "fluffy" one misbehaving, eating disco food, and there are also unflattering reviews about it! It would be good to have a decent anti-foamer in the system. After osmosis, the water can be under-purified, and the membrane works worse over time, consider ion exchange resins. Feel free to turn on the light for 10-12 hours, let the aquarium mature! Skimmer? Best regards!

Congratulations on the launch!

I advise against following this advice, especially regarding lighting, as it may lead to significant problems with your aquarium. Instead, observe more, assess the condition, and don't rush into making radical decisions.

Wesley

Look in my thread about hiccups, maybe it's him being mischievous. Best regards.

Zachary

This morning I found another one, a larger one, about 3 cm. But they are not like the ones in your photo, they are dark and very spider-like. When they crawl, they constantly scrape something off the rocks. Should I catch them while it's not too late? Do I need anti-phosphate or Chemi Pure in the aquarium right now?

Frank7213

SASH, please describe the budget from start to finish! Thanks!

Anthony7814

Resun DMS-400T5 aquarium - 800. Hydor Koralia Nano pump - 260. Live aragonite sand - 250. Red Sea Coral Pro salt - 10 kg 300. Live rocks 7 kg + delivery from Kyiv - 1200. JBL carbon - 100. I also bought an osmosis system - 2500 and a TDS meter - 550. Later, I will buy tests and a refractometer, and even later, some livestock.

Megan

Is there a pen or did I miss something, and how does the filtering work? Thank you.

Rachael

There is no penny and none is planned for now; instead, there will be a 30% water change once a week.

Katie5500

Could you please tell me what the volume of the aquarium is and if the pump is 900 l/h? Does it create a strong current?

Collin

The volume of water poured in was just under 40 liters. The pump creates a very good flow, not too strong, especially after laying the stones.

Antonio

Moreover, over time, it is possible to install a second pump of the same kind. It won't be much.

Mark

I will be honest: for such an investment, I would expect a better appearance from my aquarium. At least something like in the photo.. I hope you will have that soon!

Danielle8118

Congratulations on the launch! I'm glad you liked our stone; we chose it as if for ourselves. If you need anything, feel free to reach out, and we will do our best to help you! Igor.

Travis572

I think the jar in the photo will be a bit more expensive. This is my first "sea," meaning I'm just practicing, and later there will be a nice cube with a sample, etc.

Christopher

The aquarium in the photo is definitely not 40 liters.

Theresa5149

SASH, so there won't be a skimmer at all, just substitutes? I'm curious how the choice is made between the foam and substitutes. There are small ones, after all. I have thoughts spinning in my head.

Denise

The aquarium comes with a foam filter, but no matter how hard I tried, it wouldn't fit in the back compartment. Considering that the aquarium is small, I will maintain water quality with frequent water changes. That is, with a weekly change of 15 liters, the water will be refreshed by a third, which is quite difficult to achieve, for example, in a larger aquarium. In general, while the tank is maturing, I will report on the progress later.

Tina

The mini-sea technology on substitutions is quite well-tested, and there are many descriptions of functioning systems in the logo. And although most go further in terms of volume, the principle has every chance of survival.

Michelle13

I disagree with the idea that a small jar is easier; it's a constant hassle. The larger the reef, the easier it is to maintain. Additionally, it is a huge bio-system and is more resilient to failures, while smaller systems make it harder to achieve stable parameters. Good luck to you.

Sara4035

I completely agree with you and understand it well. However, in my case, I will try to manage without a skimmer by using frequent substitutions. This is partly due to the impossibility of using a skimmer in this aquarium without an external sump, as well as the desire to simplify the entire system.

Mario

Indeed, as already mentioned, mini-ocean technology is already quite widespread and, as practice has shown, is successful.

Jonathon8514

Yes, I'm not an expert in mini seas, but I can say that in my 50-liter aquarium, a large wrasse and Black Sea scorpion fish have been living together for three months. The filter has a capacity of 600 l/h and there is an aerator. I change 5 liters of water weekly with Rifaraz. I understand this isn't ideal, but I need to keep them somewhere until October, so I found a place for them.

Robin

What is this water from the Reef?

Darlene4238

This penny fits in... with the necessary skill. It took me about two hours to understand this process at the time. To get it in place, you first need to glue all its parts together, except for the cup for the foam. After that, we insert the "spout" at an angle under the supply tube from the return pump, and then lower the opposite part with the pump. Good luck.

Kellie

The water from the reef, there is a 300-liter soft reef nearby, and I take it from there.

Kevin3114

...there's no need to panic. At the Moscow forum, there are quite nice 500-liter tanks. They also started out as rather unremarkable boxes))) Patience, love for the inhabitants, and hard work will make a difference. Check out the tanks from Moscow (let's say Samvel's) - you'll like them.. And a cube is a cube, even in Africa; it's a slightly different aquarium, with different perspectives, views, and layouts.. There's information on the thread about the cubic sea "girl 90x60x90" by Dmitry from Shepetivka. It's a nice little cube, you know)))

Andrew7823

I didn't like the cube. It looks like a Christmas tree. It's not natural. And it feels like there's a double vision.

Martin3206

I am also annoyed by the curved corners in such aquariums - the view of the aquarium is distorted.

Brandon4517

Exactly(((

Tracy

This is really a matter of taste. If a person likes it, let them look at rounded corners. Were you interested in the budget for the aquarium? For the sake of "economy," you could get a DIY aquarium of the same volume with "square" corners. It would be about four times cheaper.

Laura3615

Greetings. Congratulations on your launch! Wishing you a successful voyage.

Katherine

New inhabitants have appeared: peppermint and strombus. The strombus crawled on the sand and buried itself in it, while the peppermint climbs on the rocks and ate two small aiptasia overnight.

Amy1672

Hi, congratulations on the new inhabitants (we bought them together). I also have a strombus that has buried itself in the sand, only its eyes are sticking out. The shrimp was inspecting its territory at night. I saw that the peppermint shrimp is still nibbling on the greenery on the rocks. During the day, it stays hidden among the rocks. I think there might be aiptasia after all, but I haven't noticed it in my tank yet.

Emily3506

Please let me know if I need to feed the peppermint, or does it find food on its own?

John5528

I wouldn't feed him. And if you expect him to eat iptaziy, then definitely don't feed him.

Wendy

Yes, he has already eaten them all )) So he won't be starving?

Lindsey3628

In general, these shrimp are omnivorous; they eat both plants and small crustaceans (both live and dead), so I think they will find food. By the way, they eat filamentous algae very well.)))

David2398

They are already feeding Artemia frozen.

Todd

Maybe we should add vitamins to their feed so they grow faster and healthier?

Rodney

Hello. I have 4 of the same. From the same aquarium. They eat everything from brine shrimp to dry food. I even tried small shrimp, and they eat those too. You don't need to... They will grow in a month, and then you can compare them to today's photo)))) By the way, I recommend increasing the light duration because your light is weak and the exposure is very short. I can send you a PDF book that has a section on lighting and describes the process of daylight in the sea. My light duration is currently about 10 hours, and I don't turn on the moonlight for anyone.

Brandon4517

I think you are complicating feeding; feed them what they eat. Variety in food is good, but don't experiment with vitamins on them; rapid growth and early maturation will shorten their lives. Everything has its time, and they will grow. Don't worry.

John828

Hello everyone! Today, for the first time since the launch, I did water tests. It has been 5 weeks since the stones were placed. Tests Tropic in: Ammonium < 0.01 mg/l pH = 8.2 NO2 = 0.0 mg/l NO3 = < 1 mg/l KH = 11 dKH Seems pretty good. Does this mean that the nitrogen cycle in my aquarium is complete? There are still some small green growths on the walls, almost no brown growths on the live rocks, and the sand has finally started to populate. Can I start looking for a small anemone for the ocellaris?

Karen

Could you wait with the anemone? The clowns will be fine without it. It's better to let the aquarium mature. If the anemone dies, there will be problems. The anemone is a troublesome lady, like a mother-in-law. Nothing is right for her, and this and that aren't right either. The sea doesn't tolerate haste. Have you seen the movie about the Titanic? That's the same too.

Michelle

Okay, let's wait ))

Charles894

Could you please explain the purpose of reagent D in the TM nitrite/nitrate test? The instructions do not mention it, and I conducted the tests without using it.

Brandy

This is a test solution.
