Hello everyone! The launch has finally arrived. It all happened spontaneously, I thought about it, got excited, and wanted to do it, so I launched it. Technical data: 1.190L aquarium (custom-made from 8mm glass) 2. 60L sump without partitions 3. Deltec AP 600 skimmer 4. HYDOR SELTZ L40 2800 l/h return pump 5. Tunze Turbelle nanostream 6025 2,500l/h and SunSun 3000 l/h flow pumps 6. ATOLL A-560ECP reverse osmosis system with resin 7. Liteco HI-Line T5 lighting, 1 x 250W and 2 x 24W T5 actinic 8. Tropic in BIO-ACTIF marine salt 9. CaribSea Bahamas Oolite live aragonite sand 10. And practically all Tropic in tests. I launched on01.06.2009. I salted the water and after two days, I added 15kg of live rock. I decided to start with cured rock. On Monday, I'm expecting another 20kg of cured live rock. On the second and thir

Well done. Congratulations! Who designed the project? Where did you get everything (and how much if possible)? And most importantly, don't rush the fish; let it sit for a month. Start with the corals, but not earlier than a month and after water preparation, and if the light goes out, be prepared.

Laura4892

Regarding the light, I read your topic, but there is none yet. I glued the aquarium in Lviv, and I can say I designed it myself after two months of studying forums. In the end, I approved everything with KAZUMOTO, for which I thank him for his help. ATOLL A-560ECP osmosis with a pump + ion exchange resins. By the way, I think it costs you too.

Lindsey3362

Congratulations on the launch. It should be a great aquarium: all the equipment is perfectly selected and well arranged. The only thing is, I would somehow add a divider in the sump. Just to create a small algae area on the chaetomorpha. We will closely follow your thread!!!

Raven7170

And I thought about this. We'll live and see. Or maybe coal, antifos.

Lindsey3362

Antifos, coal - of course. But they won't remove nitrates. However, the little algae will handle nitrates and phosphates with ease.

William

Pass! Our ranks are getting thicker!!! Added in 1 minute I did it.

Frederick

Can someone suggest how to make a partition? And where to place it? What height? The size of the sample is 52*30*h38. In the photo, you can see that there seems to be space.

Angel628

Thank you, Pavlik!

Anne4851

It seems to have a steel axis; is this normal for the sea?

Alexandra

take the NEWJET 3000 .. it has a ceramic axis, higher performance, and is compact - fits in your hand....

Tammy2040

Where can I buy a newjet? I haven't come across these pumps here in Dnipro.

Cynthia

By train, it departs.

Todd

Here I go! I bought myself a Grundfos, which is half steel inside, and raised a fuss about some steel axle.

Ashley5975

Since I've already bought it, let it work until it dies. By the way, if anyone is interested, it's a bit noisy. I've already put a piece of a tour mat under it, and it's still noisy. In general, for the future, I'm curious if I should buy something to have it on hand so I don't panic later. How much stronger does the pump need to be? It seems like there are 10 volumes. I was thinking of getting the Tunze Silence 3000 l/h.

Barbara

It's simple. We need to divide the sump into three parts. On one side - a chamber for the skimmer, on the other side - a chamber for the return pump. In the middle - an algae scrubber chamber. Between the skimmer and the algae scrubber, we create a water flow from the bottom of the partition (2 cm between the bottom and the partition). Between the algae scrubber and the return chamber, we create a water flow from the top, preferably through a grate (for drainage, the same as in an aquarium). In the working system, these partitions cannot be glued, but we can glue guiding rails above the water level, and make the partitions removable.

Brent8919

the simplest and most genius samp

Mark

I disagree. First of all, I am against splitting the water into two streams, and secondly, it is more difficult to organize for the author of the topic.

Chris

That's right! I think we need to install a partition and let the outlet from the skimmer go into the second compartment.

Brandi

Another option. Water from the skimmer goes into the algae scrubber, and from there it flows by gravity back to the skimmer-return pump compartment. But the main thing here is to ensure that water does not stagnate anywhere in the algae scrubber compartment.

Spencer7805

You can make a hole in the middle of the partition.

Michelle

It's not entirely clear about the runners glued above the water; how can a watertight seam be achieved in this case? Perhaps it would be easier to remove the sump and temporarily place some kind of plastic container for the foam and return instead.

Patrick4439

You are right. I think we just need to insert a piece of glass with silicone on the edges so that it fits more or less tightly. And basically, what’s the problem if water starts to seep through the edges?

Wendy

Then a simple option: place a container of the required size inside the sump with a comb around the edge to prevent the grass from spilling out, and direct the drain from the foam generator into it.

Kayla7655

Collective thinking works.

James3382

That's exactly how I have it set up... To avoid stagnation, I definitely recommend adding a current pump to the algae tank...

Whitney

There probably won't be such a large volume there for the water to stagnate.

Sara

How do you determine if there is stagnation or not, especially when, for example, almost everything is overgrown with caulerpa or heteromorph?

Frank7213

The stones have finally arrived. Out of 35 kg, only 20 could fit in the aquarium. The stones turned out to be simply great, porous and lightweight. In general, this is what the picture looks like.

Travis572

Well, pour the sand, what are you waiting for?

Kathleen

Buried!!!

Barbara

Here is such a picture. I won't move the stones anymore. In the design, they are not the main focus, but what will grow on them.

Amy5468

What financial question is this miracle about?

Tracey

+1.

Ashley5975

I think it would be inappropriate to mention such figures here. I want to say that I didn't go for the budget option, but I saved where I could.

Dennis

The financial question regarding this wonder is not yet settled. It is developing. Now the purchase of livestock will take place, and after a couple of months, the pump for the san-san flow will be replaced with a new Tunze. In about a year, the bulbs in the fixture will need to be changed. And there will also be a desire for an upgrade... A marine aquarium is priceless.

Angela

That's for sure. Right now I want to get the Tunze auto top-off. By the way, where can I buy it for a reasonable price? As for the San San, it works quieter than the Tunze. And what should I upgrade? I take everything with a margin, and I prefer normal reliable things.

Amy9618

Yes, if you get carried away, you invest all your spare funds into it. And sometimes even the non-free ones.

Beth3383

When you start stocking your aquarium, you'll soon want to upgrade the aquarium itself, and then everything else.

Danny

I have plans for the tone, with the equipment moved to the basement. For now, I'm just observing and learning!

James8887

But not for long. I've already lost 3 five-ton units. And it works quieter because it pumps less water and with a narrower stream (passport data can be ignored). I've already written about the upgrade myself (about the ton!).

Tanner

If it dies, but I think it's too early to talk about it, I'll install a regulated nanostream 6055. I wouldn't say that. Its outlet diameter is larger than that of the Tunze.

Kimberly

Hello everyone. Regarding the auto top-off, get the Aqua Medic one; it's not expensive and works perfectly, plus it has a real warranty. As for the flow pumps, San San is indeed a temporary option. Tunze is a good choice, but the price is steep; a middle option is the Resun Waver 15000 WaveMaker and Hydor Koralia. They all operate very quietly.

Allison

I will stop at the ace, I've read a lot, it's on a high level.

Christopher1774

Dear all, Please let me know how critical the temperature fluctuation of 24.5 - 26.1 is. It rises overnight, and during the day, when the heating is turned on, it increases.

William5838

Excellent temperature. The fluctuations are negligible - we can ignore them.

Jeremy3637

Dream, and I have +24 at 6 AM, +28 at 3 PM, +27 at 7 PM.

Brian6895

I have a spike until the 29th, I can do an auto refill... no one is complaining...

Rebecca

29 ceiling measures need to be taken

Earl

It's normal. I've been around 30 since the beginning of the week, no negativity. As long as it doesn't rise to 32, I'll sleep peacefully. But it's all individual.

Kevin8087

And I sound the alarm if you are 30, but you are brave.

Mitchell3177

Last summer, I maintained a temperature of around 32°C for about a month. The aquarium survived without consequences. I won't claim that this is a normal temperature, but I think that in a reef on shallow water, the temperature is not low, and the sea has high water quality, unlike the aquarium. The main problem with high water temperature is that it contains little oxygen, which can be solved with good aeration. P.S. If possible, try to keep the water temperature around 27°C.

Mark9853

Hello! I've decided to update my theme. I'm gradually stocking the aquarium with SPS and LPS. For now, I'll just observe. Starting from September 1, I plan to launch the zeolite; I've left some time to think about whether to do it or not. I want to introduce a rabbitfish to eat some of the hair algae, although I've noticed that it has started to yellow on its own over the last couple of days. Ideally, I probably should have waited another month before stocking, but I just can't hold off any longer. Overall, the aquarium has come to life. The hermit crabs add a lot of dynamics, although we lost one strombus, which is a bit of a setback. Here are some fresh photos.

Jill1815

I haven't checked in here for a while. During this time, I've met some aquarists in person and even had the chance to see some masterpieces live. I realize how few of us are here. My aquarium is already a little over five months old. I'll share a few photos of what I've managed to create.

Alexander

How's the crypto on hiatus? Is it going?

Robert

Nazar, hello. The aquarium looks very good. Judging by the growth and colors of the corals, the aquarium has matured. The only thing left is to fill the remaining empty spaces with corals and enjoy the changes in the growth process of the corals. I think the montipora in the left corner needs to be placed lower, otherwise it will cover the lower tier of the reef as it grows.
