These were my first steps in marine aquarium keeping, and as a test, I set up the Black Sea to check my abilities. I went to Tarkhankut and dove to depths of 5-7 meters, using fins, mask, and weight. Everything I found on the bottom, except for Acropora skeletons, I brought back - stones, sponges, mussels, shrimp, hermit crabs, anemones, and algae. And then, you know, the "seasickness" came, but I don't regret it. I took the photos with a mobile phone in August 2008, so the quality is a bit lacking.

Throw away the dead tropical corals, but otherwise nothing.

Gabriel

Beautiful! It doesn't look that way when you dive. How about the water, do you prepare it yourself?

Chris

It was in August, and everything related to the sea was unclear and beautiful to me, so I laid down and placed everything that came to hand.

Leah

Well, of course, there is a lot of plankton in the sea, and it doesn't look so bad, although it's not great. With the water, I prepare it myself, and the Black Sea inhabitants have adapted to 33-34 parts per thousand in a day without losses. The red hermits are truly the most resilient, and the horned dog is still alive to this day.

Jeffrey

More live stones are needed, it will be even better))

Tonya

It's very beautiful... But isn't the jar a bit too tall? Or did they pour it into whatever they had?

Theresa5149

Beautiful. Somewhat original. It's just that the dead corals don't harmonize.

Danielle

The creation of this aquarium has been happening before my eyes! From the very beginning until today. Look in the album of the person at what a masterpiece this aquarium has turned into now!!! Friend! Thank you for the beauty and your perseverance and determination in achieving your goal.

GUYS, read carefully, the aquarium was started in AUGUST 2008 and lasted a tiny bit, gradually over a month or two it transitioned to another level, and this was just the beginning, a trial. Before this trial, I had no idea what it was like to keep the sea at home, and now it looks like this, this reef is 9 months old.

Hello everyone! It's very beautiful, the lips are just amazing. It's a pity that the jar has transformed into a cliché tropical theme. I am nurturing the idea of returning to the Black Sea, and after seeing these photos, my doubts have vanished. Thank you. Best regards.

Joseph9057

No, the jar is not too high at 50 cm; there were too few stones.

Tonya

Very beautiful!

Shawn

Hello everyone! The question is a bit immodest: what is the purpose of this survey? Best regards.

Katherine

The goal is simple - to assess my first steps in marine aquaristics and to show the applicability of the Black Sea biotope as a basis for creating a tropical reef aquarium. I think this will be clear? Best regards, ALEXEY.

Nicholas5194

Now it's clear. I really thought you were looking for like-minded people on the Black Sea theme or monitoring the forum for those interested in buying live creatures and stones. Best regards.

Alejandro

Just a bomb. It immediately drew me to Crimea.

Cassandra1840

It would be great to have a theme and like-minded people around the Black Sea topic, it's so interesting. SERGE, why don't you try it? You have a lot of experience in this, I read. You could post photos and develop this topic; it would be interesting for many. Best regards.

Michael3221

So, the problem is with like-minded people. You also moved to the tropics almost immediately. The people living by the sea are also in no hurry to develop the topic. I agree, it is specific, and not many are engaged with fish from domestic water bodies. But it may be quite relevant in our troubled times. I am already starting a Black Sea aquarium, so let's consider that there are already two of us, and maybe more will join later. What happened to the rocks and animals from the aquarium in the photos? Did they stay in the reef? Is the Enteromorpha from the algae topic by any chance Black Sea? Sincerely.

Nicole

If it's not too much trouble, please take a photo of your launch and development of the Black Sea. It's very interesting to see the transformation from an ugly duckling to beauty.

Chad

I also feel drawn back to the Black Sea (although I won't give up the tropics now). When you return, we'll catch up.

Nancy758

I envy with a deep jealousy. For me, this is now abroad. Tarkhankut is probably the best place on the Black Sea (for an aquarist). Although there are also some really cool things in Alupka, for example.
