Friends, please look and provide feedback, advice, and correct any errors. My reef started populating 7-8 months ago, with a2-month preparation period consisting simply of an aquarium with water and live

Brandon9634

Well, what can I say, -- the SONG is great, everything is awesome, I'm worse off, the animals are just amazing, everyone is open and feels, I think, good! I would like to briefly talk about the equipment!!!

Mary

I agree.

Christine

I would like a photo of the overall view of the aquarium!

Brent7831

Damn! There are no words... super, you can't say it any other way. Wishing health and prosperity to the aquarium, and patience to you.

Jeffery

Well done!!!

Corey3201

The 763 photo is almost a general aquarium, not a ton, but a 350 small one. You can check my albums; there is also a reef of my friend.

Michelle104

Wonderful aquarium. I wish you health and financial well-being, for without this, it is impossible to maintain such an aquarium.

Joshua

The aquarium is SUPER even for a beginner! Good luck!

David3217

Krassta - a-a-a-a! I would like to have one like that.

Danielle

And to exchange fragments, is it possible to use singularities?

Sara4035

Well done! Just great. Where are the mistakes? I would like to hear the story from the very beginning.

James4757

I'm not an expert on marine life, but to me, it's a FANTASTIC AQUARIUM!!! 8) Everything is clean and well thought out, and all the living organisms are in great shape (bright and active). Respect to the owner! P.S.: I'm just dreaming about the sea for now!

Chelsea567

Everything mentioned above. From me, SUPER.

Sara4035

The aquarium is SUPER. I envy it with white envy.

Cassandra1840

Great soft jar. If the photo hasn't been photoshopped, the coral colors are excellent. Respect and admiration. P.S. I would like to see more photos of the aquarium and equipment to have something to critique.

Michelle1662

Today I will add some old photos.

Kimberly4253

Very beautiful aquarium!! Please let me know what equipment you have: lighting, skimmer, etc.

Charles

I voted "excellent" considering the age of the aquarium and the very limited experience of its creator, so it can't be said any other way!!! Good luck and success to you!!!

Cheryl9296

Yeah... SUPER!!!!!!!

Jeremy

Great. Such photos are scary to look at, I'm afraid of getting sick from this and then goodbye family budget.

Stefanie9771

Heteractis magnifica. This is a new resident in my soft reef. At first, for the first five days, it often released water, but now, going into the second week, it doesn't move around the aquarium much, just shifted a bit towards the light and that's it. The day before yesterday, I gave it a small shrimp, and it ate it quickly, which made me happy. Thanks to everyone who helped with advice. Special thanks to Yarik for the Neeleotris magnifica. Best regards.

Robin

And the first ones I have are SPS, frags from Stas.

Hannah

MAGICAL WORLD !!! RESPECT !

Richard

And what about the overall plan? I probably won't be able to come to you soon with my leg like this. But it's really beautiful!

Daniel8015

Look at the last photo at 8:00 PM without the sarcophagoton.

Karen81

Oh my gosh!!! Don't tempt me! Beauty!

Adam

SUPER

Nancy758

You look at such beauty and it takes your breath away. Children, probably, can't be torn away from it at all!

Andrew4194

Those close to me are not surprised by my quirks, as they are used to them, and it's not just the children. I can watch for hours myself.

Heather9815

In September, my soft coral reef moved from one 350-liter tank (it got cramped) to a new 500-liter one. There was immediately a lot of free space in the aquarium, which I am gradually filling. The move has had a positive effect on the reef; I changed the lighting to T-5, 54w. Over the past two months, there have been no negative changes in the parameters. I am using the same Tetra salt. pH - 8.2 PO4 - 0 NO3 - 0 Ca - 450 Mg - 1500 I will post some photos for review. In a few days, YARIK will have a shipment, and I will add two or three new LPS, and maybe something else. I have an idea to set up another 500-600 liter tank just for hard corals.

Javier5186

Listen, why are you keeping the magnesium so high? Are you adding something? Or is the salt holding that much?

Richard2180

No need to top up for now, the aquarium is still fresh, I added Ca a couple of times when it dropped to 410-420 (I think I have 5 types of hard corals that consume Ca, and they are growing visibly), and magnesium was even a bit higher (maybe it's the sand or salt). The sand is from the Black Sea, and there are a lot of crushed mussel shells about 1 mm.

Emily3506

You're lucky))) I'm pouring magnesium non-stop. In 4 days, it drops by 100 points.

Jade

What do you have living there? I also have magnesium at 1600, and it doesn't decrease with any substitutions; once, a long time ago, it was 1500. The Tropic Marin and JBL tests can't both be defective, can they?

David4968

The aquarium is SUPER! The approach is right, gradual, and THOROUGH! THANK YOU FOR SUCH EXAMPLES!!! BEGINNERS! LEARN!

Melissa

Great! A real success for a beginner! Look at the chatterboxes and wordsmiths to see how it's done! By the way, the aquarium operates on the "Berlin" system. Got it?!

Lisa

A few more photos, took them today at 9:00 PM.

Danny

Whose frog spawn is it? Didn't Dima pass it on? How is he feeling?

Travis572

Great, I got it!!! A cool smashed riff is coming up! 2. If I understand correctly, almost all of us on the forum have alternative systems, particularly "Berlin." That is, these are systems with a large number of live rocks and a powerful foam separation column. Something like that.

Ross

Yes, now you won't find DSB in every aquarium, and no one even remembers Wet/Dry or Juberta anymore. Apparently, there are reasons for that.

Jacqueline6670

Everything that Stas sent in May of this year has grown 4-5 times, feeling great as I understand. I am satisfied. A small piece of 1 cm from Stas's Montipora broke off during the move to another aquarium; I secured it, and after a couple of weeks, it started to grow, and in two months it became 3x3, beautiful. I acquired the Euphyllia three months ago from our supplier Rey.K. Its condition is excellent, and it has noticeably grown.

Nicole

Today I bought a Mandarin fish Synchiropus splendidus, a Lionfish Pterois antennata, and a Catalaphyllia. I'm posting photos, but I can't get a shot of the Mandarin as it's hiding. I just introduced the Lionfish to the aquarium, and within a couple of minutes, it ate a 3 cm shrimp, and after 15 minutes, it ate another smaller one, so it's getting lively with all the small stuff. The Catalaphyllia opened up within an hour in the aquarium, while the Mandarin mostly hides, occasionally coming out and immediately going back under the reef.

Maria

nnndddaaa..... the aquarium is suppppper. I'm drooling.

Luis3725

Yes, catallophilia is wonderful!!!

Todd

Based on what I've seen, I can confidently say that you no longer belong among beginners. You're just a step away from the orbit of professionals. Patience and hard work, along with a genuine passion for marine themes, have paid off. Of course, there were times when it wasn't easy to achieve the results that were noticed and appreciated by grateful colleagues on the forum. Sometimes, considering the uncertain times, it was necessary to make tough decisions, but as they say, the road will be mastered by the walking. I, for my part, will continue to support your pursuit of excellence in marine aquaristics. Forward to new horizons!

Chad9037

Catalaphilia is great. Tomorrow I'm expecting my own from Yarik. But what about the winged one... Didn't he rush? It will definitely eat all the small fish. It's a complicated coexistence with other fish. I had a volitans. It devoured a handful of fish and shrimp - I caught it in an aquamedic trap. It found itself a new home. Otherwise, you can't keep up with the fish and shrimp for it.

Charles

Hey, I have a 350-liter empty aquarium maturing for three months for SPS (small-polyped corals). I'm preparing it; besides algae, there are 5 types of small shrimp (about 10-12 pieces, which I allow as a food base for the butterflyfish), 6-8 hermit crabs, and two brittle stars—nothing else. That's where it will go. Beauty requires sacrifice; it intrigues me, I might burn out, but it's my first butterflyfish and it's gorgeous.

Nicole263

Two days have passed, Mandarinka is getting used to it and is already so scared, this is what I managed to photograph.

Darlene4238

beautiful

John3142

Well, it can't be like this... I'm running out of saliva! I can't figure out the fresh water here—there's no time. And here is such beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like I will soon join your company... I need to read and gain some theoretical experience for now! Actually, there is an institute of biology of the southern seas and an oceanarium in the city—I will go and ask to become a student...

Debra6575

Aleksey, you have a wonderful aquarium, no words, just positive emotions, a very beautiful reef.

Kyle

Alexey, RESPECT!!! There are no words...

Catherine6534

An aquarium worthy of a sailor... Well done!!! The course is right!

Johnny

I will update my topic a bit; some changes in the soft reef have improved, and there are updates. In September, Vitaly made a Wavebox for the Resun Waver 15000. So now I've had waves for almost a month. The reef likes it. A few photos.

Courtney

The reef is beautiful!!! How is the little fox doing? How is she behaving?

Michelle104

Maxim, she lives in a new SPS tank, your LО is beautiful, she has grown up and made friends with the Black Sea greenling, and they are together everywhere, no aggression, a lovely creature, excellent health, eats everything, first she cleared the algae, now she has taken on the caulerpa, she helps me, it's great.

James4342

Offtopic, BASTARD!

Amber

No, the young lady has done well, she has taken the caulerpa, braiding all the stones, and I left the batriocladia as a bait for a bit along with the gracilies, but the red ones were the first to munch on it. All the valuable algae are in my other tank, and all my macrophytes are growing well in the maintenance tanks, thank God. So I can easily feed a handful of other algae eaters; there’s enough "hay" for everyone.

Charles5941

Once for the fox! A beautiful and cool fish.

Danielle

I will add a few new photos. As of today, all parameters are stable with minimal fluctuations. Parameters in the Soft Reef as of November 18, 2010: pH 8.2, KH 9, Ca 420-440, Mg 1350, NO3 around 0, PO4 0, NH3: ammonia 0, 34 prom. 26+27. In the Hard Reef: pH 8.2, KH 10, Ca 440-450, Mg 1400, NO3 0, PO4 0, NH3: ammonia 0, 34 prom. 25+26. P.S. The white-breasted beauty, in the realm of Neptune.

Colin1418

In the Great Heavenly Aquarium... But it's okay, everything is still ahead...

Michele

Today I took some photos and I'm sharing a few for the review. In the soft reef and SPS tank, everything is unchanged and the parameters are normal.

Brianna

Offtopic I'm in "nirvana"....

Bryan1851

Beauty, simply BEAUTY...

John3165

Well, tell me more about the fungi! Are they reproducing? How do they feel on the stone?

Jill9137

These fungi came to me from A.A., the size of a kopeck, now they are larger than a five-kopeck coin, only one has remained the size of a kopeck. They feel great both on sand and on pebbles, but I see them better on stone. There are fewer strombus, and diogenes are a concern, and the veil just slides off the stone, fully opening closer to twilight, at night in full.

Diana7891

Everyone - rushed to me with mushrooms. He also adjusted it for me.

Raven7170

After reviewing the whole topic with a bunch of photos, I ended up drooling a little))) AMAZING REEF!!!!!! It's clear that everything was created with love))) Wishing you good luck and success))) Looking forward to new stories)))

Janet5447

I'm updating with a couple of photos for review. Recently, I received Lobofitum from Evgeny. I'm also attaching Tubostrea for review; it opens at 5:00 PM and fully by 8:00 PM, and it stays that way until almost morning. And it’s always spawning...

Rodney

What is your current fish population?

James5103

In the soft Helman, he has been a veteran for three years, a couple of clowns, shrimp, hermits, and that's all for now (there was a tangerine, a little dog, and a white-breasted one) and where are they, cuckoo. But in a week there will be a surgeon and an angel, but that will be a little later, I'll wait a bit. In the SPSnik LO, a little goby "pajama," a couple of clowns, a Black Sea dog, shrimp, and hermits. That's the current set.

Melinda2740

Could I request close-up photos of the equipment that ensures the excellent condition of the reef, if possible separately?

Laura3615

Congratulations on the launch once again, now on the pages of the Forum! I want to express my confidence that this aquarium will present itself in even greater splendor (to be precise, it has already done so) than the one in which the reef was before.

Christopher3770

The sand was moved from the old M.A. as well as all the J.K. (live stones) from the working aquarium, 400 liters of old water + gradually 150 + 50 + 50 + 50 liters of freshly prepared water daily. There was a slight cloudiness for a day. The corals were transferred and almost all are doing well.

Robert1845

Shadow-Boxes are being built in this regard. And will the secret aerobic filter be present here? Congratulations from the bottom of my heart!!!!

Andrew419

I won't have an aeration filter on this aquarium; it has been in use for 3 years on those aquariums without a sump. This is my first aquarium with a sump.

Jennifer7159

As of today, the aquarium looks something like this (photo taken with a regular point-and-shoot camera). Of course, there will still be a lot of work and improvements, including lighting and installing another skimmer, adding live sand to the sump along with macroalgae, and I also need to add another 10-15 kg of live rock to the aquarium, as well as corals. There is plenty of work to do. A year will pass, and maybe I'll think of something else.

Earl

I also experienced a move, but initially, most of my corals were not attached to the main rocks. How about you? Did you build it so that the rocks with corals were on top? Did you somehow secure the rocks? Or were the corals cut?

Darlene4238

Everything has moved from the "cluttered" aquariums to a new spacious one, meaning that your aquariums are still in the development stage, while many of my corals are three years old, with frags freshly planted in another aquarium, and this one is planned as a species tank. I don't glue live rocks; I arrange them, and there is no risk of collapse.

Dana4701

looks beautiful and natural

Shane

I take my hat off to you!!! I feel that you will lead me to the sea too!!!!

Stuart

In the first photo, Lobophytum looks like a New Year's tree! And the fox is hiding under the tree. The photo turned out amazing, and overall it's super!

Laurie3842

Have a good swim. What is the thickness of the glass? 10mm

Ryan1989

The question that bothers me is why this aquarium with a sump? Is it just for show or is there a plan to focus on hard corals?

Andrea

I have successfully learned to maintain a marine aquarium without a sump, and now I want to observe a sump aquarium for a year to understand if I need a sump for my future work in maintaining a mixed reef, both at home and for clients. I don't focus on hard corals; I prefer soft corals and almost all LPS, and I am moving in that direction. I will repeat that I haven't added bacteria and I have a negative attitude towards chemicals.

Judy

Your aquarium turned out super cool!

Denise

LYOKHA! Congratulations on another launch of the sea! The size is just right, and I have the same one; you recommended this aquarium size to me, thank you!

Devon107

Beautifully interesting. Wait for me, I'll come to see it live.

Leslie

Hi Lesha! I have a technical question, I don't understand if a 3/4 pipe can handle the drainage with a flow rate of 2800 l/h? I replied in private messages.

Kevin3114

Guys, I will post the latest photos from December. Photos taken with a "point-and-shoot" camera. There are no significant changes, we are gradually growing.

Robert800

Lesha, is that a plant or someone in the first photo? Thank you for the answer.

Luis3725

I apologize for the 13th photo.

Alyssa1438

I suspect that this is one of the varieties of Kallymenia or Halymenia, but I might be mistaken; I won't argue about it and will try to identify it over time. This algae grew from a small piece of live rock to a size of 20 by 25 cm, but then the Lissoclinum was introduced, and within a week, it ate it and other red algae, and then started on everything else. After I transferred the Lissoclinum to a 400-liter aquarium with the Butterflyfish, a month later, macroalgae began to grow again in the 700-liter aquarium. The Zebrasoma is not touching them for now since it is still small, while the macroalgae are growing at a decent speed, far outpacing its growth rate.

Tonya

Explain what is good about clean aquarium glass, aside from the aesthetic aspect... Is the presence of phyto and zooplankton a bad thing? Or what kind of growths on the glass were you referring to?

Joseph591

Everything is great, but will there ever be lists instead of softness?

Wendy

What’s wrong with soft corals? First of all, there are SPS corals in the photo as well. Secondly, I personally prefer LPS corals, and if I remember correctly, he has six types of them. And fourthly, tastes differ; for example, I also like LPS corals more. For instance, I wouldn’t trade a red lobophyllia or trachyphyllia for any SPS.

Destiny

Softness is beautiful. But you have your own approach. It would be interesting to see this approach to sps. Specifically not about chemistry, but in general. Without chemistry, there are beautiful sps. I'm more interested in the absence of samp.

Robin

As for me, we like what feels good in our aquariums; some SPS corals don't show their colors, and looking at a brown, non-fluffy coral is not much of a pleasure, while others' LPS or Scolymia don't extend their polyps as they should... Not seeing all their beauty leads us to make conclusions about what we like and what we don't.

William

Oh! As always, right on point! Indeed, what feels good and is well-lit can really look amazing, and 100 points ahead to those who have managed to achieve that... For example, if the disco corals "aren't doing well," I feel a great discomfort. I don't know why, but I like them so much that I don't even think about other corals, which may seem strange, but what can you do, it's a matter of taste again.

Melinda

I think I will never have one. I decided for myself that I will only keep a soft reef with LPS corals, as they suit me. Well, I have been without a sump since 2008 until July 2011, and in my thread, there are enough photos over those two years showing the condition of the reef without a sump. As of today, I have aquariums without a sump that have been successfully thriving for over two years in perfect condition, as well as one last aquarium that I set up with a sump.

Frank7213

As always - a good soft rhyme! The little winged one has grown up.

Holly

Not to mention, the butterfly fish is about 18 cm long, already surpassing the length of the chanterelle, although that one is also a decent-sized fish. Two fish in 400 liters, they have room to grow, and the food supply is abundant, I would eat it myself.

Mike

When I watched the aquariums live, I really liked it, I was so captivated by them. I hope it's even better now. By the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Marie5348

I filmed a bit of the spawning of Amphiprion ocellaris (clownfish) on the glass near the anemone Heteractis magnifica.

Andrea

Beauty.....

Melinda2740

I will sign up for the waiting list for offspring.

Raven7170

Don't you plan to try to get divorced?

Cynthia

I don't plan to for now; this pair of Amphiprion Ocellaris has been laying eggs monthly for two years already. I've seen plenty of fry from their abundant love, but by morning, it's all gone.

Wendy8540

Simply chic, well done!

Tara2761

Congratulations on the new gear! Why exactly this ratio of diodes? Isn't there too much white and not enough UV?

Ryan7682

Thank you. I also thought that the white was a bit too much, but it can be reduced. As for the black, if there's not enough, I can add more since I have everything in reserve. The main thing is that the piano is fine. I don't feel like adding red, but everything necessary is there.

Nicholas5194

I would also swap the white LEDs with the UV ones in terms of quantity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kenneth7210

Although if a person has such an aquarium, then they have more experience...

Sara4035

I completely agree, I have the same number of pianos, and the same total of white and orange ones as well, but it turned out to be unnecessary. The white one is set to 20% at peak. The red one is not really needed, but for dawn and dusk, a couple of diodes for the entire fixture could be added for a full color palette.

Heather2018

I admit that something may decrease from the whites during the assembly process, but I have extra space to add. We'll assemble on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then I'll report any changes that occurred during the assembly. It will be clearer and more accurate that way. The main thing is that the process has started.

Stacy6866

Can I get a general photo of the aquarium? It seems like the hangers have been shortened a lot - if you're working in the aquarium, the light needs to be raised high. Does the body get very hot? Is the radiator handling it?

Jessica5348

The photo is overexposed, everything is blue, the camera is weak. The lights are raised from the rigidity ribs, which is fine for me, the working area is 32 cm high. The cases are still barely warm since there are 59 LEDs going out to one and a half meters. So the radiator will handle it even if the percentage is increased above 50%. Thank you, the cases are awesome!

Adrienne

Cool! To make the photo not blue, you can adjust the colors in an editor like Photoshop.

Diana8604

Yeah, it's not that easy to pull out all the corals.

Kathleen

The main thing is to have enough dissipation. The Chinese assemblies were overheating like crazy, even with a larger heatsink. In principle, it turns out to be 100-120W at peak per meter, which is more than enough.

Tammy2040

These diodes (that Alexey has) do not differ much in working parameters from the same Cree(c). And most importantly, the temperature regime at reasonable currents is very good.

Jason5071

Hi. Congratulations on the new outfit! What UVs did you set?

Heather2018

Thank you. Prolight opto diodes. W-7000k Royal-450nm Blue-470nm UW-395nm (700mA-~950mW) Cyan LEDs 495nm. All at 700mA. I selected a few photos (out of 50), took them from 4 PM to 6 PM, two light modes on decrease started from 5 PM. So far, I haven't been able to take better photos; they are overexposed with blue, and I borrowed a camera (better than mine) from a friend and shot from different angles, choosing the best for viewing. However, there are still distortions that are visible. A little later, I want to try to capture before sunset at 8 PM; if something interesting comes out, I will post it.

Andrew7823

Did you solder the diodes onto the board yourself?

Kenneth7210

The boards came with soldered diodes; we handled everything else ourselves: distributing, gluing, soldering, assembling, and tuning.

Danielle9144

I think I'll make some lamps for the algae tank; there are vacant pieces of profile.

Troy8808

The idea is not bad, especially since I will soon be working with a sample algae tank myself (it measures 40 x 50 cm). Here’s a photo of what came out of the shoot (it can't be captured any better) in the second-to-last mode (everything goes dark at 9 PM).

Tiffany5069

Is there a photo of the lamp - the guts?

Guy

No, I didn't do it; it makes your brain boil just looking at it. But everything was neatly laid out and secured at the edges.

Todd8452

it's a pity, I'm curious to see

Mark9853

What beauty!!!!!!!

Lee425

Dear, you have a beautiful aquarium. I hope to have something like this soon. But I would like to see the insides of the lamp))) And some fresh photos)

Jesse3979

Later, you can tell me about the budget lighting option, as the DNK assemblies are currently not affordable.

Anna9752

There, a few pages earlier, Lesha posted photos of the components. The rest is purely wiring (wires).

Dana6523

It's still too early to determine whether this setup is sufficient for my aquarium, as currently, after a month, the settings are at maximum as follows: W - 60% Royal - 70% Blue - 65% Cyan - 50% UW - 40% So far, it's quite enough; even a week ago, I reduced white, cyan, and UW by 10%. I believe this setup will be sufficient for my mixed reef, and the colors are great. Moreover, with such large fixtures, there is a margin, and I can add more if necessary since there is space and a free driver, but I don't think that will be needed.

Melissa1838

What principle was used to adjust the light fixture, "by eye" or was there some kind of adjustment system?

Heather2018

The best system is the external condition of the corals in your aquarium. Start from a minimum and increase by 5% weekly while observing. There is no scale or system that is the same for everyone. There is experience and advice from seasoned aquarists and an understanding of what is happening in your personal reef.

Michelle5859

Where is your equipment located, separately in the cabinet under the aquarium?

Curtis

Yes, it hangs on the side wall of the cabinet where the sump is, and it's 35 cm from the sump. I don't plan to move it under the sofa or to the neighboring room.

Alan273

I asked because many people say that salt can destroy electronics, aren't you afraid?

Wanda666

My floors are not flooded with seawater and the walls are dry. If I listen to some nonsensical chatter, then from the room where the sea tones are, I would need to remove the tank, the plasma TV, the music center, and take down all the speakers with the subwoofer, and sit in an empty room with aquariums. It's all just talk; in the 30 years I've been into aquaristics, of which 8 years have been marine, nothing in the equipment has even malfunctioned due to moisture (unless I personally messed it up out of carelessness or haste). Well, in the cabinet where the sump and all the equipment are, I once forgot an open pack of Tetra Discus food, and in three to four days it became damp and almost spoiled.

Natalie

Yes, laziness is the mother of progress, but in certain moments, it can be quite harmful. The main thing is that it was resolved quickly, so to speak, with little effort.

Andrea9320

Lesha, no offense, don't take it the wrong way. This is just one (and a big) downside - when the current drivers powering the lights (specifically the diode circuits) are spread far apart. Especially under the aquarium. There, a large current flows at a significant frequency. These circuits are very sensitive to moisture, specifically to internal resistance. This is one of the reasons why I never take the power part outside the light fixture. But I was warned and, as they say, armed.

Tracey

Come on. When there were quarantines in my office and there was no central controller for ventilation and dehumidifiers, the humidity rose to 90%. This negativity only affected exposed metal surfaces. All the electronics in their enclosures remained completely intact. So, one can say "nonsense"...

David

+100500. An open aquarium of 600 liters in a room measuring 3x4 m. In the same room, there is a computer, a router, and a bunch of electronics (not counting the aquarium equipment). NOTHING has ever been damaged by moisture.

Jacob4800

I also want to get a Lionfish Pterois antennata, but I have a Doctor shrimp living with me, if I'm not mistaken, about 4 cm in size, named after my son (Sasha). It would really upset me if it gets eaten...

Mitchell7972

Ah, what a pity... BUT!!!! A big fish is a large aquarium that one should strive for...
