the pictures are a bit small
but where is the sea itself?
Joshua9847
The aquarium was glued at home because there is no freight elevator in the building, and it is impossible to carry 120 kg up to the 9th floor by stairs; we struggled to carry the cabinet, placing it on its back on each landing (narrow staircase). I couldn't film the gluing process as my hands were busy (I was helping to fit the glass), but I took a photo once everything was glued; the bottom is a composite three-section piece (photo #1). The front glass is more transparent; I don't know the exact term for it (for comparison, see the side photo #2). I placed OSB 22mm and 20mm styrodur under the aquarium (I couldn't find anything thinner). To the left of the aquarium, I started building another cabinet for the foam and everything that won't fit in the sump compartment.
Dennis
There is very little space for investments, and all the photos are 6 megapixels. The sea is still in the process of maturing; I just covered it with sand yesterday.
Caleb6320
Very interesting, I am also planning to go to the sea (hope it will be soon), gathering information, learning. I will be following the development of the topic with interest! And what is the thickness of the aquarium glass?
Michelle104
What are the holes in the overflow on the side? I don't see any "rashes" on the overflow yet?
Jessica6754
12mm, the aquarium is now almost completely filled, I was crawling around the aquarium with rulers and various angles, the deflection of the glass in the center, if there is any, is very small. Approximately one-tenth of a millimeter, or maybe the ruler is crooked.
Sydney
The well is still dry, meaning the fittings are not glued yet. I'm so quick that while Ray is making the foam, I've already poured everything and salted it. In my opinion, it's much more convenient on the side; if something needs to be redone with the fittings or, God forbid, it leaks (knock on wood), there's no need to drain the entire aquarium, especially since I will have a drain cabinet on the side, and it won't be visible.
Mark7376
Vadim has the whole fitting ready in the trunk. I hope we can put the stone in after the foam?
Michelle1662
Something tells me that instead of a freshwater pond, there will soon be an algae filter there...
Stephen5841
Here I will try to describe everything in more detail, with a larger number of photos and higher resolution.
Brent8919
beauty...
Just the links don't work
IMHO: we should buy a stone for the clauaria from Rey... he's a cool seller
Joshua8425
And one more question. As far as I know, Tkach is a supporter of DSB. Why do you have a thin layer of substrate? And you clearly don't have 80-100 kg of live rock - why? Just curious...
Erica752
We discussed the amount of sand with Rea and settled on 80 kilos; there will be a little fish, and if there turns out to be too little sand, we can always add more. The same goes for live rocks; I used cured rocks, and there were no spikes or sand overgrowths. There was a slight film from the strombus, but it was all cleaned up in a couple of days, and we didn't use any tests during the setup! The salt is good, and I still don't know the water parameters, which is of course not ideal. I plan to buy some after the holidays, but overall, it seems to be going well for everyone.
Chad4168
The clavularia is doing well; I immediately placed it under the LED light and have even started feeding it Tropic Marin's Pro-Coral Phytom. I've also begun adding a drop a day of Pro-Coral Iodine (Lugol's). The water isn't perfectly clear yet; there's a slight haze, although the skimmer is pulling out a decent amount of dirt. There's also an acropora on the rock above.
Gabriel
Is it really possible to breed marine fish at home?
Samuel6138
I had clowns put caviar. But I didn't try to catch the fish.
Timothy
I want to convey to everyone
Vadim possesses perfect qualities for the task, he is not in a hurry and does everything meticulously, in general, he is doing great.
Vadim has golden hands.
Therefore, this sea will definitely be exemplary!!!
Christine864
Once again, the desire for the sea has flared up. I don't plan to launch or buy one yet - I don't have the finances for it. Once I finish the repairs... How much could a similar aquarium cost in its current condition? I also think about gradually increasing the stocking. It's less stressful for both the budget and the aquarium.
Kevin3114
here everything is detailed in prices
Michelle104
I believe that you, gentlemen, rushed with the acropora. Why add pro-coral phytom and pro-coral iodine to a young aquarium? There is already plenty of everything there.
Bethany
It's not about the meters... In general, it's pretty clear. By the way, if you need lamps, I can arrange them; I have both metal halide and aquarium ones. The fixtures are either household or industrial.
Debra
I reviewed almost everything - only in the 110-liter one were there any numbers...
Angela6489
otherwise it's not Acropora but Seriatopora, and it is very easy to care for and grows very quickly.
Alejandro
In the 250-liter sea, everything is planned except for the living creatures.
Leonard
I tidied up the appearance a bit, the wiring, not everything is done yet, I will finish a little more and then I will go to "show myself," it must be said that I have gathered a lot of information from there.
Keith7534
It is starting to look like a marine aquarium.
Sump
Fan for cooling MH lamps.
Amber
The aquarium is already a year old, and there is still no design; everything is lying around haphazardly. I think the reef is about 80% built. I added another lamp to the fixture, now it's 3x150w, and it already looks more like a marine aquarium. I use Tetra salt, which has a high content of calcium and magnesium, making it very suitable for small water changes. I change very little water, just a 25-liter bucket every three weeks. No matter what they say, my experience in freshwater aquaristics has been quite useful.
Hunter1471
I think it turned out quite designer-like for a reef. A kind of "reef-wall"!
Antonio
No, not really, I don't like it that much. The corals are not glued yet, so they are placed for stability over a larger area, and when I add all the rocks, I will start gluing various hanging grottoes. Also, the circulation (ventilation) of the corals will be much better.
Jade
Titanium wire, in my opinion, will help!!
Megan
Sample, 4 frames in the GIF animator.
Katherine
Cool photo, but the aquarium is better.
Gregory
Thank you, Denis, it's nice to hear that from an experienced sailor, in the sense that you have already handled many animals and know all the processes involved, while I am still just learning.
It seems that no one is asking questions; could it be that I'm doing everything so correctly that there are no questions?
Nancy
How much did it cost, if it's not a secret?
Natalie
How much does it cost per month to maintain such an aquarium, excluding fish food? The main expenses are for salt and electricity?
Jesse
Approximately $9000. I can't say for sure; at first, I kept track of the expenses, but when the aquarium started to transform and became pleasing to the eye, I realized it didn't make much sense. When you think about the prices, you start to feel sorry for the money, but when you begin to consider adding another animal and mentally look for a place for it, the money doesn't matter. The key is to get into a sort of groove, to understand that you can provide the animal with the conditions for survival. A year ago, it was scary to acquire animals; you bring them home and don't know if they will survive or not.
Judy
First, the setup is shown, then almost a year later, photos of the finished aquarium filled to the brim with corals are posted. What questions can there be? One can only admire and dream.
Julie4738
Come on, in a year. At the very beginning, I provided a link where I tried to describe everything in detail. The file size limit is very restricted here on the forum, and Infostor is dead.
Antonio
This is a joke, there's a smiley.
Jeffrey2277
Why did they glue the bottom in three parts?
$900 is cool, however... is it possible to recoup this money in the long run on the coral, or will it take a long time and be tedious?
Erica
I have always had acrylic aquariums (to sleep peacefully), but it turned out that many people keep aquariums made of silicate glass. To be completely safe, I asked for the bottom to be made of three parts. Two would probably have been enough, but this way it's a bit more reliable, after all, it's the top floor. I haven't slept for a week, just waiting for the aquarium to burst. I guess this can happen to anything.
Karen
Why didn't they make it from a single piece? Is it more reliable to use three pieces?
Mark
Yes, I understand that, but for those who will start reading the topic from the end, I reminded that we have a marine forum with many sections, otherwise everyone seems to just leave and doesn't want to develop Ukrainian marine aquaristics. And there's no one to ask where to buy things at a reasonable price - everyone is being secretive.
Richard
If it's made from a solid piece, a distortion of 4 mm, maybe a bit more, could cause it to break, but if it's made from three parts, it should withstand a distortion of a couple of centimeters. The length is still 170 cm, and I'm not sure that the frame is perfectly straight; there is a difference of 5-6 mm.
Rodney7316
How many mm is the joint between the pieces... I'm just sneaking up too.
To glue a large aquarium...
Danielle9144
3-6mm, it is essential to glue on a flat surface, even better on the one where it will be installed later. The main thing is to connect the glass after applying the silicone (maintaining the joint size) on the first try; if you start moving them back and forth, bubbles will form. A specialist glued it for me, he did everything by eye, without any spacers, and all the joints were done on the first try. However, it is still better to consult with specialists regarding silicone, especially since clamps will be needed for gluing ribs and ties.
Thomas
If you could just tell me where else to get 9 bucks... Was Soudal silicone used?
Noah1632
Dow Corning 881 silicone (black)
For example, you could sell a kidney. If I bought everything, it would be more than 9 thousand bucks, but this way I got off easy.
Kendra2262
How is it difficult to find him with you or what...?
Uh-huh... I actually have a couple of extras in mind at my mother-in-law's...
Chad4168
It’s probably a matter of time. There are too few experienced marine aquarium enthusiasts, and the professionals have their own secrets.
Elizabeth6302
I think we need to ask Aquatica, I got the Tkach raid from somewhere. I was also looking for it on the forum, probably found it since he's silent.
Kimberly
Hello.
I ordered the silicone from you in Odessa, it will be interesting to look for a company in my contacts...
My aquarium cost me $4000, but it's a 250-liter display.
It consumes 150 in electricity per month... I don't count the rest as expenses (salt, trace elements, food, tests), let's say another 50...
In my humble opinion: you shouldn't be afraid of the sea... you should strive for it... If you really want to, you can fly to space...
Elizabeth1221
You can save a lot by using dry reef rock instead of live rock; I have completely live rocks in my tank. Pavel is right, you need to really want it. I've also been persistently working towards my goal for over a year, and I've chosen a considerable volume, which means significant expenses.
Denise
Plerogire clearly doesn't like something. I usually feel this way after a substitution. Otherwise, it swells terribly. Pay attention to her — the coral is gorgeous. Maybe someone is stressing her out.
Cassandra7840
baks, however, how did they glue... the side walls to the bottom.. or did they place it on the bottom..?
It's not visible in the photos..
Susan1358
Yes, that's the case. The thing is, I had a bad magnesium test, by the way, the Tropic Marin one, which always showed magnesium at 1500 - 1550. Then I found that suspicious and took a JBL test, and it showed magnesium at 1200. Now I'm trying to raise the magnesium, apparently the plerogyra doesn't like it very much; before, it was swelling up like a balloon. I've now realized one truth for myself - if all the water parameters are normal, but the corals are not doing well, it's necessary to buy a new test.
The walls were glued around the bottom, many additionally reinforce the floor with glass along the entire perimeter.
Leah
...our regards to you with a brush... please give the coordinates of this office... if there is a phone number as well.
I am not afraid of him... I am afraid of something else, that I will be drowned in this sea when they find out about his financial situation...
Deborah2682
Vadim, be careful with magnesium. I also had a problem with it, just like you. JBL showed 1200, and I decided to add magnesium, after which I measured it with the Tropic Marin test and it turned out to be 1700. The coral became very sad...
Thomas
I measured magnesium and calcium with the JBL test for Ca+Mg. I thought it was lying because I heard your story with this test, Denis. I bought the Salifert test, which is said to be reliable, and the results were almost the same.
P.S. You can measure it in freshly salted water, but I haven't gotten around to it.
Courtney4094
but why tell someone
Andrea9320
They are a bit advanced in this topic, especially when it comes to money, the charm is astonishing.
Jasmine
I took some photos of the aquarium; nothing much has changed during this time. I bought a refractometer and measured the salinity; it turns out my aquarium had been living at a density of 1.030 for a year, and I have now lowered it to 1.025. I started using the balling method from Fauna in.
There is a lot of blue because of the 20k lamps.
Holly
Beautiful...
I especially liked the photo where the discus fish are sitting at the bottom of the tank; one might think that the discus live in a swamp...
Hunter1471
Oh, how I wish I could dive in there with a mask! The beauty is stunning!
Christopher3770
Thank you, Ray, for the assessment. I specifically made this angle for comparison. It seems that I will soon remove the bland and combine everything into one system, and I will place the anemone with the clownfish there. I just can't calm down about not being able to put the anemone in the main tank.
Patricia
Beauty!
Alec9378
Yes, you can't drink away talent. The beauty of the eyes is just amazing. I can really imagine what a sight it is in the evening... And how do the family members feel about it? It's half of a good car...
Melissa1838
WELL DONE, I really like it, marine aquarium enthusiasts are restless and not greedy, always in search and always thinking about where to get (as one acquaintance said, we are like "drug addicts" and we are sick with the Reef) And I take pride in the fact that maybe only your friend's Reef can be more beautiful than your own, THAT'S WHY THERE IS A NEVER-ENDING SEARCH. Good luck. Best regards.
Joseph591
To change something, I think it is necessary to shape the reef, to rearrange the stones; right now they all lie in a wall at the same level without any gaps, and like corals, fundamentally nothing changes no matter how you rearrange them. But I can hardly imagine how to do this painlessly now, when there are already many corals.
Christopher3770
This is such a hellish job that, first of all, it does not tolerate mistakes, requires speed of action, and at the same time precision, while also needing abstract thinking and artistic skills to create a beautiful reef landscape. In April, I did such work, completely reinstalling the entire reef. Although it is not a large body of water, only 350 liters, it took 5 hours. But I had previously sent all my fish out for a long walk, so that, God forbid, they wouldn't become a problem or, even worse, give me bad advice.
Vanessa
Everything is polished cool. Good job. You probably polish the walls every day. My back has almost grown over already))) And the pumps have turned red already))
Theresa5149
Feeding with moths, and this is despite the fact that they feed two or three times a day, but what if you feed like Denis - once a week?
Mariah
The sea lily lives on the syriatophore. At night, it comes out to the very top and spreads its limbs, collecting something from the surface of the water. During the day, as it dislikes bright light, it sits to the side, opposite the pump.
Mark
very beautiful! How long has it been living in the aquarium?
Brent5588
When I got it, there were still black ones, but they weren't purely black; they had some white speckles, and the green one looked simply beautiful against that background. It has been living for about 3-4 months; at first, it settled in the grotto near the front glass, then the white-breasted one started to bite its legs off, probably trying to drive it away. After that, it crawled across half the aquarium and settled in the Seriatopora. There, no one can reach it, and it's clear from the extended polyps that the Seriatopora is not bothering it.
Jessica5348
Beautiful... I keep wondering, fish do their business wherever they want, so how can you siphon with so many rocks?
Nicholas2252
Hi, Vadim! I miss your aquarium a bit. I see there's a new fish.
Awesome!
Kyle
I would drop by sometime.
Yeah.. I wanted to show you the actinia, but I can't seem to find it. It used to hide among the rocks, but the clown would find it, and you could figure it out from him. Now the clown is swimming around carelessly and not trying to find anyone. There are nylon nets on the pumps, so it seems it has already died.
Mike
Dear Baks, I saw a flagfish in your aquarium, I think it's a Huniochus, if I'm not mistaken. Please correct me. It seems to be fine with the corals and doesn't cause any trouble... I was told that it can be quite aggressive... Thank you for your response.
Cheyenne2747
You have difretus. If you can send a photo, I can tell for sure - based on the video, it's difretus. That's how it behaves accordingly.
Brent8919
Where did you get the lily? It's an interesting creature! I haven't come across it.
Jeremy3637
К сожалению, ваш текст не завершен. Пожалуйста, предоставьте полный текст для перевода.
Brian6895
He really doesn't like to be photographed, always on the move and manages to turn sideways when the flash goes off. So far, it's only worked out somewhat like this.
Diana8604
99.9% - Diphretus. Plus behavior - it turns out that he is.
The photo is awesome!!!
P.S. There was no internet, I just stumbled upon the forum. I apologize for the delay.
Lynn4242
You have a beautiful aquarium, and the beauty of the fish is a clear confirmation of that. However, in 3-4 years, detritus will definitely make its presence known, to a greater or lesser extent, and you will have to take drastic measures. For example, my colleague "Shere Khan" has a 1200-liter tank, and after the incompetent work of his predecessor, the detritus has compacted into a cement-like substance, making it a real struggle to remove it from the aquarium. Your aquarium is still young, and judging by how carefully you maintain it, it will definitely avoid such a fate. However, do not forget about the detritus. It's quite a nuisance.
Kellie
I will honestly say - I REALLY LIKE IT!!! You can immediately tell that the person puts their heart into it. Today I will reread the entire thread from the very beginning.
Brandi
Beautiful, very beautiful - a typical picture of a mixed reef. Please tell me, I see Heniocampus acuminatus there. How does it look at the invertebrates, and how long has it been living in this aquarium? I have two large ones, but they are still in the fish tank. I would like to put them in the reef too, but I'm worried about the invertebrates... Thank you in advance.
Christopher1252
You have a beautiful aquarium. What kind of reactor did you install?
Aaron
I liked the new light! WOW!!!
Lynn4242
Denya, I can't say for sure, but it's some kind of Chinese one, very similar to this, just with the pump at the bottom, the pump there is Maxi-Jet 1200.
I bought it at iReef, and the ARM media is also from there. Right now, the flow rate through the reactor is 1 drop every 2-3 seconds. The water parameters are as follows (I measured them last night): Ca - 440, Kh - according to the Tropic Marin test - 11, according to the JBL test - 8. I trust the JBL test more (I look at the condition of the corals), after all, I have some experience.
Ronald5720
Yes, ATI bulbs shine unusually bright. I currently have one JBL (white) bulb turned off in my fixture; I want to try putting an ATI actinic bulb there. Adding another Pro Color or Blue Plus would be too much.
Megan
Thank you very much for the valuable information about Heniochus, now I'm itching to get my net. By the way, is Helmon not fighting?
Jeffrey496
He wouldn't even hurt a fly. At one time (when there were surgeonfish in the aquarium), the heniocorus "pretended" to be a wrasse and was pecking at the white-breasted fish, which didn't mind and offered its body, or maybe the heniocorus was just flattering to avoid being bullied, as it was very clumsy in trying to clean. In any case, food is a decisive factor; for example, if you don't feed a camel shrimp enough, it will start eating corals. The same goes for surgeonfish; at one point, I tried to combat organic matter (naturally, without absorbents) by reducing the feeding, and they started tasting the corals.
Barbara
It's decided. Tonight, because it won't be possible during the day, I'm putting Heniochus in the RA. Thanks again.
