• Ophiurids. Strange behavior

I don't know if anyone has encountered this, please let me know. It's an established aquarium with a lot of brittle stars. Suddenly, out of nowhere, they all crawled out and started releasing their waste into the water en masse. One of them raises itself on its legs, releases a white stream into the water, and calmly crawls away. In half an hour, the water in the aquarium became murky, like jelly. Meanwhile, the corals and fish show no signs of distress. This has never happened in two years (or maybe it did when I wasn't near the aquarium). The tubastreas immediately woke up, and the zebrasoma even seemed to peck at the murk. What is this? Did they get sick? Did they reproduce en masse? Has anyone experienced this? If necessary, I can add a video.

We had an incident when the lights went out for 2 hours, and then right after they came back on, the water became murky and the brittle stars were falling off the corals. But when the lights were out for about 20 hours, that didn't happen to them.

there were no changes in the light Added after 10 minutes Moreover, half an hour later it all ended, they hid away and everything returned to normal.

There was a similar situation with fireworms after the water was changed... Maybe they regulate the salinity of their bodies this way or react to another parameter...

I had the same experience after I filled the aquarium with water after repairing the seam. The brittle stars seemed to be the largest ones that crawled to the top of the rock, raised themselves on their legs like stools, and started releasing a white mist. I think this is a reproduction process. I even recorded a video of it, although the quality is low, but still.

Here it is! It’s here. You don’t even need to upload your own video.

It seems they are reproducing, here is the article.
