How to seat Klavularia?

Good afternoon, there are a couple of types, but half grow on the stone, and half are floating in the water. Can I cut a piece and glue or tie it to a stone, how should I proceed??? I have seen beautiful standalone caps of this type with people, I want one like that too.

I was thinking, if a couple of stripes are glued on one stone, won't they overlap each other?
