• Question about shrimp.

  • Sheila

In literature and online, only the nutritional content of shrimp is discussed, with no mention of breeding them in aquariums. Do they even reproduce in aquariums? The question arose because today I found eggs under the tail of one of the Lysa debelius in the nano aquarium. Is there a chance to increase the population? There are no fish in that aquarium, only shrimp and a couple of hermit crabs.

I found an article on breeding these shrimp in artificial conditions, but it's only in English.

I had the same situation with a lizard, it also had eggs, and it carried them for about a week, then it shed the eggs along with its shell during molting.

My toras have spawned twice in the last three months. At first, I saw one swimming with eggs under its tail. Then, one night in the moonlight, I saw a cloud from a distance. I went to take a look, and there were small ones the size of a cyclops by the hundreds. And the fish that usually sleep at night (ocellaris, chrysiptera) were actively hunting them. I turned off the night light for a few days. But nothing appeared. I couldn't find the fry. I have a compartment in front of it with a sponge and four synthetic filters that are periodically rinsed. Nothing was found in them. Then the same thing happened again. It seems the fish are wiping them out completely.

They are difficult to lift, just like sea fish. And they reproduce regularly.
