• New anemone!!!

  • Kayla7655

I have acquired a new resident from Mr. Actinia, a red-legged one. But I can't determine the species for sure, of course, without someone's help. Please help with the identification of the species, and if anyone knows anything about the characteristics of the species, feel free to share, don't be shy.

Macrodactyla sp. Anemone red foot

Amy5468

It is written that way in the invoice. Otherwise, it's "new"! And as far as I know, the sellers provide the most complete consultation possible.

Shelby3182

This is a sand anemone, Macrodactyla. It loves to wander, requires 5-7 cm of sand, and enjoys a varied diet more often. From my observations.

Kathryn514

Thank you all! The sellers didn't consult us. Is it a big deal if she lay on the sand and is just lying there? She hardly moved at night. Should we put her somewhere? Does she like light or shade?

Devon107

At first, "rolling" is nothing serious, but it's good - it's a leg in the sand.

Rebecca

Can I bury the leg? But if I bury it, I won't be able to siphon the substrate. Which is bad, because the aquarium volume is 130 liters.

Laura3615

You do it cool. Where did you learn to siphon and dig?

Ryan7682

Indeed, when did I learn to siphon? I siphon in freshwater, and it doesn't take much intelligence to dig.

George5104

So what should I do with the anemone? Leave it on the sand or move it?

Marie5348

The tentacles that do not reach the light are deflated and dark.

Crystal

BURY A SMALL STONE IN THE SAND AT A SHALLOW DEPTH, PLACE A SMALL WEIGHT ON IT, AND LEAVE IT FOR AT LEAST 5 DAYS (DON'T FORGET TO FEED IT - IT LIKES HEADLESS SHRIMP).

Ronald

"Who said! Plant the trees GREEN SIDE UP!!!!"

Phyllis

I READ ALL THE INFO ABOUT ACTINIANS ONLINE!!!! I JUST WANTED TO KNOW MORE EXTENSIVELY AND SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THIS SPECIES!! THIS IS MY SECOND ACTINIA, THE FIRST ONE HAS BEEN LIVING FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. AND YESTERDAY A NEW RED-LEGGED ONE ATE ARTEMIA! I DON'T WANT TO SQUEEZE IT WITH ROCKS. IF I SQUEEZE A LITTLE HARDER, IT WILL START TO BE A PAIN, EITHER THE LEG WILL BURST OR SOMETHING ELSE WILL HAPPEN.

Christopher7213

I would like to see how to pin an anemone down with stones... And in such a way that the FOOT BURSTS! The anemone can only be nailed to the spot with a nail through its mouth, and even then I have my doubts... If it doesn't like the spot, no matter how you pin it down, it will crawl away. That's why it was said correctly - let it flow lightly, foot down, and leave it alone for about 5 days. I wouldn't even feed it.

Dana4701

That's how it is. But if I press a little harder, my leg will burst, or something else will happen.

Hunter1471

I will get rid of her. But I don't think the shrimp Doctor (Lysa Aboinensis) will leave. It constantly sits on her. I thought that besides Amphiprion, no anemone fish sit on anemones.

Laura3615

There are many anemone shrimp. For example, the truth is that toras do not belong to them.

Julie3950

Well, it's clear that the Doctors do not belong to them.

Maria

Pterapogon can also sit in anemones!

Lori4746

Yes, many fish can SIT in anemones! Especially the Pterophyllum! Haven't you caught the well-known disease of illiteracy among marine aquarists? "Well, if I press a little harder, my leg will burst, or something else." If you press correctly, you can crush it completely!

Laurie3842

I didn't catch anything.

Breanna9982

Oh, how interesting! I really want to see a photo of Pterapogon sitting in an anemone (not as a food object, but alive). As far as I know, Pterapogon hides from predators in the spines of diadem sea urchins.

Stephen5841

Alic, the little apogons (and not only them) really sit in the anemones. And the adults are already a food source.

Jessica6754

Live for a century, learn for a century. This is a fact.

Stephen5841

This morning I did as advised, the actinia just crawled out of the sand.

Adrienne

Inserted into the gap between the stones while sitting.
