I am reaching out to the guys from the SPs community, who will take photos and post the SPs with titles on our forum? This topic is underdeveloped, and there is almost no information in Russian-speaking resources. It would be preferable to include various features of the content and what challenges people have faced.

John3187

1. I fully support this, but I think there will be difficulties with the accuracy of species identification, as even during deliveries the supplying company may make a mistake. 2. What types of photographs are needed (aquarium, natural)? 3. I think it is necessary to add macro photos to the main ones for a clearer representation of the features of the structure, arrangement, size, etc. of the polyps.

Alexander

To begin with, we will collect a database, then systematize it, as many different species can fall under one name. It will be all the more interesting to find out. Macro photos, along with general photos of the colony, are welcome.

Sheila1322

Yes, the topic is very interesting and necessary. The names in Latin and Russian, plus photos, would be great; this would also help develop the topic with many questions and suggestions. I completely agree and support it.

Nancy758

You have quite a lot of opportunities in this regard; all that is needed is to film the colonies that arrived in the shipment and record the names under which they came. After that, we will figure out how accurately the suppliers named them.

Johnny

SPS enthusiasts are always happy to help. The difficulty is that SPS corals will look different in different aquariums under different lighting, both in shape and color. From my experience, I can say that there are four main groups: Acroporas Montiporas Seriatoporas Pocilloporas In general, SPS is the most diverse group of corals, with at least 3,000 to 5,000 species (a titanic effort). I am ready to help.

Eric8832

I saw a bourgeois book on corals, I really liked it... I'll try to take it and scan it, if they let me, of course...

Leslie

There are so few aquariums with SPS that I think everyone (both professionals and hobbyists) will benefit from the development of this direction.

Mark

Here is a ready-made catalog, in its own way, with photos, descriptions, and care conditions - ...and don't mention it.

Lindsay

and there's no need to worry... just get the "approval" for copying... and translate it, but do it properly...

Katie3017

This is correct. Catalogs have existed for a long time, and there's no need to reinvent the wheel. It's better to share personal experiences regarding the content of SPS and to note the challenges (or, conversely, the simplicity) of maintaining certain types. For example, I have my own observations.

Michele

Those who don't want to bother are not forced to. The question is different: who is ready to take it on?

Destiny

I completely agree. I think Volodya meant this when he created this post. No one was thinking about revising the existing catalogs, and photos (from personal aquariums) showing the development over time (if possible) will add clarity to the topic.

Martin3206

I'm not against it and I'm ready to join. We can use the materials from the Zeovit forum as a basis and add information. At least I liked the structure of their catalog.

Daniel132

in the form of a theme - type? First, we will collect photos and names of aquatic species. Then we will break down the collected material. Who will be the first to post a photo? By the way, has anyone come across a scientific guide online or in printed form?

Veronica

The introduction "Corals - A Quick Reference Guide" is somewhat incomplete. Veron and Stafford-Smith's "Corals of the World" in the first volume on acroporas is currently the most serious publication on identification.

Erin2730

I will try to take pictures of all my SPS corals next week and post their names with descriptions. I can also describe the care difficulty and needs of each coral, but these will just be my observations.

Julie

Another "ine invertebrates" - Ronald L. Shimek, Ph.D. Added 8 minutes later Denis, this is where the true value of this endeavor lies. Did you buy a camera? Which one?

Lee

So this is the most interesting part) there are no ultimate truths in our business)

Joseph2576

I haven't bought it yet, but I'm already in a hurry... Right now, I'm just looking into which one is better to buy. As for the information about SPS, I'll write everything I know...

Stephanie4990

I am ready to get started, there are three volumes of Veron and a lot of other literature.

Antonio

I like how the database is designed here. But only how it is designed. A brief description + a table with information about light, current, etc. There are more photos on the Zeovit forum + there is information about the conditions in which the coral is kept. But I don't like that if you don't know its name, you have to browse the entire forum. I don't see the point in copying foreign databases or thick books since not many species are imported to us; it would be more useful to catalog THEM.

Nicole263

Igor, I think I found a coordinator who won't let this project die.

Brian6895

Here is a whole directory The sea also caught my attention, but in a NANO form factor.

Jessica8898

The link is not working. Registration is currently closed, please check it.

Shane

I prepared photos of different types of acroporas. They were taken right after delivery, so I apologize for the quality.

Hannah

I completely agree, but there was a small hope. Alas!!!??? Best regards, .

Sarah7284

Let's not get upset, but continue to preserve SPS corals just like Machado de Sousa does.
