I was at the Red Sea and wanted to bring something like an acropora or favia. But I couldn't find anything suitable in size that I wanted, and I didn't want to break anything off. However, I found something (it was broken off and lying at a depth of about a meter, either torn off by the surf or by children, it's unclear), but I don't know what it is. Naturally, I couldn't resist and took it with me. Now, this creature has been living in my aquarium for a month and is doing well (the polyps are opening on both). But I still can't identify what this creature is. In the first photo, it looks like a sponge, but it has a hard skeleton like an acropora, with a diameter of 3 cm. In the second, there is a colony of soft polyps with a diameter of 5 cm.

The photos turned out the other way around. The polyps are on top, and the hard ones are on the bottom.

Hello! I think the first one is Ricordea and the second one looks like Porites.

Leah

The first one is definitely not Ricordea - I have it. In the next photo, it's at the bottom right. So it might be clearer. As for the second one - it could be, but I'm not sure yet.

Without seeing the skeleton, it's difficult to determine, although there are a huge number of colors and patterns that look similar. Well, then it could be Blastomussa wellsi, as they also come in various colors.

Hannah

Most likely, this is a variety of Blastomussa wellsi. It looks very similar to the one in the link. Thank you.
