Invasion of the Stars

I used to see them very rarely. Now these creatures are just coming from everywhere. What are these little stars (1.5-2 cm in size with a leg span)? Will they cause any harm?

After the whites, the reds should come, then the blues, then the oranges, and then the blues again - that would be an invasion, but for now, it's just small stuff.

This is an Ophiura, young individuals live in the rocks (that's where they come from), adults, as mentioned, are detritivores. Creatures are necessary and useful.
