In general, there is a problem with Zebrasoma flavescens... it suddenly makes sharp jumps around the aquarium (suddenly to the side), as if it wants to shake something off, doing pirouettes with its right side near the sand (it doesn't rub, but just like a wounded plane, it tilts sideways from above)... there are no spots or crypts on its skin, and it eats, but strangely, it chases after food in the same erratic manner, sometimes missing... previously, it used to chase Helmon, but now it’s like a fight with a shadow... maybe a fluke or crypt has settled on its gills? (Unfortunately, I lost all my fish to something) and the boxer also disappeared... but that's another topic...

I noticed similar behavior today in my Zebrasoma flavescens. It "jumps" in the water, away from the rocks, meaning it's clearly not rubbing against anything. It constantly approaches the wrasse - swims up to it and turns sideways... What could this mean? Or is it just one of those days when the zebra is acting strange?!

Dry food, in flakes. I've been using it for about two months now. Sometimes frozen cyclops, shrimp, squid, phytoplankton. In any case, the food hasn't changed in the last two months. P.S. The joke about cannabis is funny.

Once upon a time, something similar happened with Acanthurus lineatus. For about a week. Then I found it at the bottom... This can happen if the fish is poisoned with cyanide. Death can occur 2-3 months after purchase. But there can also be reasons of an invasive nature or improper feeding.

Surgeons need to be fed live plant food as often as possible. Without it, they won't last long. In nature, their main diet consists of algae. No dry food, even with spirulina, can replace it. I would generally advise against giving them bloodworms, tubifex, etc., or to give them as rarely and in small amounts as possible, as these are also not suitable foods for surgeons.

In my practice, I have not encountered a poisoned yellow zebrasoma, nor a xanthurum for that matter. I think it's parasites.
