• How to catch a striped surgeonfish (Acanthurus lineatus) in the reef?

  • Stacy6866

Has anyone had experience catching a striped surgeonfish in an aquarium? Lots of rocks, very fast? The food I provide is not being eaten; it eats algae from the rocks. The reason is that it keeps all the other inhabitants of the aquarium in fear. It is very aggressive. So far, it is not big (about 7 centimeters). It bites almost everyone who swims into its territory. Thank you.

There is an option! A large hook (so it doesn't swallow it), fishing line, bait, and you catch! That's how many fish are caught! The main thing is not to pull too hard! The lip will heal quickly! I haven't done it myself, but I've read that when it's impossible to catch with a net, both sea and freshwater fish are caught this way!

I caught a large clownfish with a hook, but without a barb on the hook. However, it doesn't eat anything except for stones, so I think I'll have to dismantle the floor of the reef, and when it comes out, I'll fence it off and catch it. Other methods are unlikely to help you.

For about two weeks, I was trying to catch a butterfly, all without success. Misfortune helped - rolling blackouts. When the power goes out suddenly, the fish stays in place and loses its orientation - it "freezes." At that moment, you need to carefully shine a light just to see the silhouettes and catch it with a net. Good luck!
