• Caution Clown Goby Yellow!!!

  • Maria6659

Greetings to all marine aquarium enthusiasts! I am creating this post to warn those keeping SPS corals about this fish. So, let's get acquainted (photo of the fish, not mine, taken from the internet). The backstory is that I was fortunate enough to acquire this wonderful fish, just for a small tank. The fish is truly beautiful, undemanding, and ate absolutely everything - dry food, frozen food, mixes (this is for those who think I didn't feed it). However, after a week, I started noticing sores on the bald corals, initially small, but then growing larger. Observing the aquarium, I personally witnessed this lovely fish nibbling on them with great enthusiasm (results attached in the photo, already mine, I apologize for the quality, taken with a phone, but the overall picture should be clear). In summary, I will say the following - it is not necessarily the case that they are all like this, but still, be cautious when acquiring such a fish. Later, I found information on the Aqua Logo forum that some aquarists had schools of such fish that wiped out many corals in their tanks. For soft tanks, it's just perfect!!! Truly a bright cutie.

Perhaps algae began to grow on the bald spot of the coral, and it was simply grazing on them.

John1464

No, the coral was absolutely alive and there were no encrustations on it. The fish was indeed eating the coral; I mentioned earlier that I saw it all with my own eyes!

Ross

100% true! I watered my large-polyped Lps on the tentacles! (Acanthastrea, Blastomussa)

Gobiodon okinawae? They also just "sit" until they become bald. There is an opinion that these gobies eat corals, yes. They really loved to "suck" on seriatope. But there is also an opinion that only the gobies caught south of the coast of China and north of the coast of Australia eat polyps. Off-topic (although with our sellers, finding out the truth about where the fish comes from is unrealistic, as often it is not possible to even get information about what food the fish takes).

It is written everywhere that these bullies are prone to overeating SPS polyps. And they are toxic in case of danger. But the author gets a plus for the warning.

I think I found the right clowns. They don't touch the corals at all.

Brandon9634

What do your proper clowns have to do with this?

Shawn

The topic is called "Beware of Clown Goby Elloy!!!" Here they are just right for me.

John3432

This is not a topic about clowns.

Dennis

Excuse me, but who is the topic about, Clown Goby Yellow - yellow clown goby.

James4757

Black, you should read the first post to see what the thread owner is talking about. You don't have a bull, and I'm more than sure you don't have a "clown" fish either; you just popped in to chat a bit.

Daniel9952

I am writing about the clownfish that I have a couple of, who are not interested in corals. You have no relation to the topic, but you just came in to be rude. The forum is created for communication. It's better to be rude on the street; the result is immediately visible. It will be something to remember and tell your friends. And also, learn the English language and keep your own. Many problems start from it.

Marie5348

You seem to be confused; I have more experience in this topic and in the maritime section than you do. I see you in the maritime section only for the fourth time, our "polyglot" of the sea.

Andrew4194

Thank you, I will think about the language. Unlike you, I had a normal conversation and did not act rude, let alone disrespect you. Look around and don't trip, and read the rules.

Aaron

I have a Gobi that knocks snails off the glass, both big and small, just hunts them down, hangs out, and suddenly drops them. What a mischievous little guy!
