• Fish in the drain shaft

  • Dana6523

Who can help? There is a small drain shaft, 75 cm deep. It has drain and return pipes and a safety pipe (in general, it's very narrow). There used to be a mandarin fish. I thought it had been eaten for about a month since I couldn't find it anywhere. The drain shaft is lined with stones. Today, I accidentally noticed that the mandarin fish is swimming in the shaft. I stood there for an hour trying to figure out how to catch it. I couldn't come up with anything—it's very narrow and deep. What can anyone suggest? Thank you.

Remove the grates, raise the level in the shaft, she will most likely climb out by herself.

The theme was the same, a tangerine in the tank. The whole problem is that tangerines don't really like to float in the water. I even tried to suck it out with a hose, but it didn't work. I had to make a ladder to stand over the aquarium and with two small nets with long handles, I managed to catch it. I drained the water as much as possible. PS The wrasse jumps back and forth by itself.

Today I raised the water level - it hasn't risen that high yet. I'm waiting...

I have lost a lot of weight.

I think it will be faster to pump the water out of the mine with the same hose and scoop it out with a net.

Mike

Or with the same hose, but with a larger diameter and a small difference in elevation (so that the pressure of the drained water is not high), pump out the tangerine along with the water.

Exactly. Elementary will do. But the hose probably needs to be an inch - at least it will be fast.

By 2 o'clock, the fish successfully swam out. Thank you all for your help.

I would like to point out one feature. I reduced the area at the top where it could surface by inserting a net from one side, thereby narrowing the place for it to surface to one spot through which it eventually emerged. Before that, it was rising in different places and then sinking down to a certain level. This might be useful to someone.
