• biopellet reactor

The aquarium and sump are on the same level. The algae scrubber was planned to be on the front side. I got tired of the view of green wire, so it was decided to design the algae scrubber as a small display. I bought some beautiful marine plants and might look for something else as well. To remove phosphate and nitrate, it was decided to make a biopellet reactor. I bought 90 mm pipe scraps from advertisers, made flanges for them, and glued them in. Then I made two lids, one upper and one lower, with a cone. And that's it, all assembled.

Just replace the bolts with nylon ones. Otherwise, it doesn't feel quite right.

Stainless steel bolts from the epicenter do not rust, and they do not come into contact with water.

What type of bio pellets will you be using? I'm pondering it myself; maybe someone can give some advice?

After spinning 0.5 kg of pellets, which are heavy /Reef Interests All in one Biolets premium/, I decided to redesign the reactor. The old design had very low efficiency; to process 0.5 kg, I was drawing 2-2.5 tons from the lift pump. It seemed that the circulation in the aquarium was insufficient.

I am showing a photo.

After loading 0.5 kg of old material and adding 0.5 kg of new, I started testing. They wouldn't spin. I had to think a bit and cut out the left valve. And the reactor started up. The pump is Jebao 2000. I started it at full power, but then I had to switch to two units of power out of eight, otherwise the pellets were being expelled due to the vigorous boiling. They've been spinning on the second setting for a week now.

I took a ready-made Coral box and just installed a Jebao 2000 pump, it works well, with Polalat All and Tropic Marin. In the photo, you can see the number of pellets with the original pump, it couldn't handle more. Now, with the Jebao running at 2/3 power, the reactor is fully operational. I think this design is more effective than a pipe.
