• Discussion of the SAMP concept

Hello, esteemed ones! I need criticism, advice, or recommendations on how to better design a new sump. The situation is as follows: 1. The sump should not be wider than 37 cm and not longer than 80 cm. 2. It must include compartments for a skimmer (at least 25x25 cm), for a refugium (the larger the area, the better), for a return pump (approximately 15x20 cm), and a compartment for osmosis (auto top-off, which should be as spacious as possible). 3. The total height should not exceed 35-40 cm. 4. The recommended depth for the skimmer is about 15 cm. 5. The drain is on the right side. 6. The material is not important, it can be acrylic or regular glass. 7. When the return pump is turned off, about 10-12 liters of water drains from the "display" into the sump. I sketched the following design: please help me optimize, simplify, and reduce costs. The bottom compartment is for top-off, and the pump controlled by the auto top-off is placed in the chamber. I added a support at the bottom since I am not an expert on the strength of glass. Thank you.

It's unclear... whether everything is so good that there's nothing to add - ready for production right now, or if everyone is just too lazy to write? Or maybe this thread is just not popular =) I would prefer acrylic glass, as it is lighter and easier to work with. Is it not more expensive? Or am I wrong? Will reliability be compromised? Who can provide information on the cost of production? We have specialists in Lviv (they make aquariums VERY well), but I'm curious to know how much an independent manufacturer would charge for production.

Thank you for your response. The sump is there, but it is 30 cm shorter, and the algae scrubber is small and does not cope with nitrate removal. On the left, there is a container for topping up. So I suggested a solution by placing the top-up from the bottom, gaining an additional 30 cm of area for the algae scrubber and reducing the depth by 10 cm. A height of 35 cm will be sufficient, I agree. The entrance to the top-up compartment will be covered with a lid.

Who will take on making such a SAMP and for how much?

All the plumbing is there. The sump is there, the system is running. It needs to be replaced with a new one. But judging by the condition of the system, maybe there's no need to change anything =)
