I have a simple silicone hose connected to the highest point of the overflow, with the other end submerged in water. Once a month, the air that accumulates at the top (which is shaped like a truncated cone) is removed. There has never been an airlock that caused the aquarium to overflow. However, it is true that vigilance is necessary in our work in every aspect, vigilance once again... Therefore, I try to monitor this overflow as often as possible, and even with a slight airlock, I take measures.

This is not exactly DIY since it is made of glass; I don't remember the name of the company, but it seems to be from Japan, and they have a lot of other glass items in this style. I don't remember if ADA has any, but they work in a similar style.

I continue.... The dimensions are 108x122x150, both compartments are 58mm, for 8mm glass, I installed a Durso from 1" fittings. I won't comment on the flow rate, I only tested for tightness; I will test the flow rate later.
