I bought a liter of Purigen for my aquarium. I don't have any branded bags. I tried to fill a leg from women's tights (40 den) with it, even in a double layer, but it still spills out a little. I'm afraid it will also gradually spill out in the filter. Can anyone suggest something? Thank you.

Usually, they are placed in filters, but they can also be kept in the sump; the flow rate should not exceed 200 liters per hour for proper operation.

The water flow moves along the path of least resistance, and the bag being washed by this flow can simply lie there as almost useless ballast. It is necessary to insert this very bag into a pump container with a capacity of 400 liters per hour. Due to the density of the purigen itself and the density of the gas tissue, the water flow rate will be approximately 200 liters per hour, as has already been mentioned here. The main thing is that the powder in the container is not too compacted, so that water can pass through it more or less easily. Am I right?

I won't assert it, but I think I read that 200 l/h is for Matrix or some other product from Seachem, but not for Purigen. I should check the product descriptions.

I have been reviving with bleach for the second year. It effectively destroys organic matter. I exceed the norm by two to three times, so I have to bleach less often. After bleaching, I rinse with osmosis water and fill it with water, adding a dechlorinator.

I used the FX-5 in the last basket in the cichlid tank. I took the embroidery hoops, cut them, and adjusted them to fit the size of the container. I inserted the inner ring into a women's pantyhose, 60 denier, tied a knot on one side, and carefully filled it with Purgen. Then I tied it on the other side. It turned out like this. In theory, purigen is a powerful sorbent. Accordingly, it absorbs both "bad stuff" and necessary substances (possibly in proportion). Most likely, if there is no "bad stuff" left, it will start absorbing everything else. In the worst case, when this product was just starting to be sold, the importer strongly advised against exceeding the recommended dosage, warning of critical consequences even for freshwater aquariums.

I have a small 100 ml pouch lying around in the sump... it works wherever you put it... the water flow doesn't play a significant role... some attach it directly to a string and throw it right into the aquarium... (they have a shortage of sumps).
