• Launch in 200 liters.

  • Stuart

Greetings, respected ones! I have already come close to launching my reef. All electrical and electronic components have been assembled. At the moment, the SUMP is being filled. It remains to connect all the fittings, hoses, and pipes. I have long been reading forums, both ours and others. Opinions on launch are ambiguous, and the launch logic has undergone changes over the years. Therefore, there are a number of questions that I want to clarify in advance and prepare. Now I will describe what I plan to do: 1. Install soaked decorations. 2. Pour sand for DSB into the aquarium and SUMP (approximately 12-14 cm). 3. Fill with osmotic water and start dissolving salt to the required concentration. 4. Wait a few days, conducting tests. Do not use the light during this time. 5. If the test results are correct, place several kilograms of LR (live rock) (5-10). 6. After immersing the LR (live rock), use only two T5 lamps. One actinic and one regular white. 7. Planting algae in the SUMP (probably Caulerpa and Chaetomorpha). 8. Constant monitoring of water and LR (live rock). After reaching the required amount of LR (live rock), wait for the water parameters to stabilize. Plant anemones (I don't know which ones to plant yet). After that, a couple of clownfish and a couple of shrimp. 9. Turn on the MH lamp (14k 150 W). 10. Further constant monitoring and gradual increase in load. This is approximately the logical chain. If there are any comments, please correct me and explain the errors. I

Thank you for the response! But won't the start of the MG cause a rapid growth of filamentous algae, etc.?

Jeffrey496

The filament won't take off at the start. As for the MH, I wouldn't turn it on. After laying down the live rocks, they recommend moderate light, strong current (the pumps are directed straight at the rocks), raising the temperature to 29-30, and adding "Denitrol."

Hmm... What are the reasons for not including MG and raising the temperature? I really want to understand the essence of the process, not just follow the instructions. Share the information!

I will endure! I will do everything exclusively slowly! I am trying such a sensible approach for the first time in my life! Considering that I have been creating a marine system for three years now! Moreover, for the first two and a half years, I was just reading literature and forums. I don't have money for mistakes. I hope for a positive start.

There is no point in turning it on. The light is only needed for the corals. Raising the temperature promotes the growth of bacteria that are involved in the nitrogen cycle... P.S. In my opinion: I would also add small doses of vodka.
