• Creation of a small Black Sea

  • Troy8808

I have a freshwater aquarium and want to try a small Black Sea setup. I live a ten-minute walk from it. What can knowledgeable people recommend regarding equipment, starter animals, and in general - CHEAPLY. If the process goes well, then we can talk about expensive equipment. Right now, I just want to make a choice for myself: freshwater or saltwater. For the Black Sea, it seems like everything is right there, water and wildlife in unlimited quantities. The tank is 100 liters. From what I've seen online, I concluded that initially, the necessary equipment is a skimmer and two pumps - what can you say about that? What inexpensive models can be used? I more or less understand lighting and heating.

A skimmer is not essential for the Black Sea. A canister is sufficient. A small hang-on skimmer like the Prism from Red Sea will work. You can find the coordinates of dealers in the section dedicated to this brand.

Good day, Meduza! I envy you with white envy and also recommend getting into the sea, it's very interesting. If there is still a chance to dive and collect sand and beautiful stones covered with mussels and seaweed, you will have a wonderful aquarium. I especially recommend collecting mussels; although they will be hungry, they will greatly help with filtration. In my Black Sea aquarium, there are three pumps and a homemade skimmer with a wooden diffuser, and more than 50 fish and just as many invertebrates live there. I wish you good luck. Sincerely.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I will try to start with invertebrates - shrimp, sea anemones, hermit crabs, mussels - if they are available near the shore in winter.

Hello Meduz! Coastal animals won't go anywhere in winter; only some fish go deeper, while others come to the shore with cold water. Be sure to write about your successes. Best regards.
